Eva Longoria Parker has urged US government officials to pass a proposed new bill, the Children's Act for Responsible Employment (CARE), which will help give young workers more rights.

The Desperate Housewives star introduced director Robin Romano's hard-hitting documentary in The Harvest/La Cosecha in Washington DC.

The movie highlights the conditions some young migrant children are being forced to work in.

Taking the advantage of the opportunity, she called for more rights for young farm workers - urging Americans to think about where their food comes from.

"Every time you eat a salad, every time you eat a vegetable, you have to think that this might have been picked by a child. The children who feed the most well-fed nation in the world go to bed hungry," the Daily Star quoted Langoria Parker as saying.
