It was during Alia Bhatt's birthday this year that the official announcement was made about the actor making her debut down South with SS Rajamouli's upcoming magnum opus titled RRR. The film stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles and Alia is paired opposite the latter. Sharing her excitement, Alia had tweeted, "Today I feel truly truly grateful.. Cannot wait to begin this beautiful journey with this stellar cast and massive team.. thank you @ssrajamouli sir for giving me this opportunity to be directed by you.. "

A few days ago, Alia along with beau and actor Ranbir Kapoor headed back to Mumbai after abruptly wrapping the shoot of her their film Brahmastra in Banaras. It so happened that Alia fell sick on the sets of the film and had to take medical treatment soon. For the same, the actor along with Ranbir headed to New York and also to meet his parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. But this has led to her delay in joining the team of RRR which was scheduled for next month.

As per reports in Tollywood.net, the makers along with Jr NTR and Ram Charan have decided to continue with the shoot and cover up Alia until the time she recovers and joined RRR team.

Earlier, talking about bagging a role in Rajamouli's film, Alia had said, "I had bumped into Rajamouli sir at an airport and I begged him that whatever part he has (for me) I will do it. That time he had not cast for the girl yet."

RRR is scheduled to hit the screens on July 30, 2020.
