AR Rahman was forced to cancel two performances in North America after the stage he planned to perform on collapsed.

The stage at the 'Pontiac Silverdome' in Michigan collapsed during set-up on June 19, which left crewmembers injured and wounded.

Rahman also cancelled his Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour date at Toronto's Air Canada Centre in Canada to allow time for stage equipment damaged to be repaired or replaced.

"I regret any inconvenience this causes my fans and am deeply grateful no one from my team or the local Detroit stage crew was seriously injured," the Daily Express quoted him as saying in a tweet to fans.

He added: It's a miracle that my team escaped with minor injuries. The lighting rig came apart. Thanks to the almighty that everyone's safe."

Rahman will pick up the tour in San Francisco, California on June 26.
Both postponed shows have been rescheduled for July 2010.
