Will JEE Main, NEET 2021 entrance exams be held amid COVID? What we know so far

NEET 2021 is scheduled to be conducted on August 1. However, with only 40 days remaining, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is yet to release the application forms. There's also no official update on the two postponed sessions of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and the postponed JEE Advanced exam.

This has led to speculations that the engineering entrance examination JEE Main 2021 and the medical entrance test NEET 2021 might be postponed.

Students, seeking admission to top medical and engineering institutes of the country, are asking on social media when the government will make announcements on these exams.

According to a PTI report, the officials at Education Ministry are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation across the country and it is likely that the JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 entrance exam would be held on August 1.

JEE Mains

It is to be noted that JEE Main is held four times in a year from the current academic session. The first phase was conducted in February and was followed by the second phase in March. The next phases were scheduled for April and May but these were cancelled due to a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases across the country.

JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced 2021 exam, which is conducted for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) and the National Institutes of Technology (NIT), was also postponed due to coronavirus pandemic. The exam was scheduled for July 3.

NEET UG 2021

Every year, around 15 lakh students appear for NEET from across the country, since the exam is held in a pen and paper mode, there are concerns over how it will be held during the pandemic.

A section of students has taken to social media raising demand for postponement of NEET till October. Other exams including CLAT, JEE Main etc have been postponed due to the pandemic. NEET PG too has been postponed.

CBSE Class 12 Exam Results

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will announce the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 results by July 31. This year, CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 were cancelled due to prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country.

The CBSE has now opted for a different marking system to finalise the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 results. The result of CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will be based on the performances of the students in Class 10 and Class 11 as well as the pre-board exams of Class 12.
