After the cancellation of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) Class 12 board exams 2021. The boards have now started preparing the criteria for evaluation. The Supreme Court on Thursday (June 3) asked CBSE and CISCE to place on record objective criteria for assessment of marks in two weeks. The apex court is happy about the decision to cancel Class 12 board exams by the government.

The policy will be ready for evaluation within about 10 to 15 days. It is up to the board to prepare an assessment policy that is beneficial to the students of class 12. This policy will be for both theory and practical exams. Once the policy is prepared, it will be sent to the schools.

Based on the policy, the school will proceed with the evaluation work. Sufficient time of two weeks have been given to the boards – CBSE and CISCE to provide the evaluation criteria of class 12. The bench clarified that it will not give more time for placement of objective criteria as many students will be taking admissions in colleges in India and abroad.

The central government on Tuesday decided that Class 12 board exams of CBSE would not be held this year in view of the uncertain conditions due to COVID-19 and the feedback obtained from various stakeholders.

While announcing the cancellation of exams, PM Modi had said that exam boards (CBSE and CISCE) will take steps to compile the results in a “well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner.” On the assessment of marks, PM Modi said the final evaluation criteria would be announced soon.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will release the criteria for the assessment of marks for class 12 board students. As per a report, CBSE is considering two options for marking Class 12 students for this academic session. The first option the CBSE is working on is to assess students on the basis of their performance in Class 10, Class 11 final exam and Class 12 internal exams.  The other option is to give weightage to Class 10 exams results and internal assessments in Class 12.
