Shaken by the death of a seven-year-old student in the premises of Ryan International School in Gurugram, a group of parents filed a police complaint against the school's Vasant Kunj branch on Monday, citing "major" security lapses at the school.

In the complaint, parents said they inspected the school campus and found major negligence regarding students' safety and security. "A lot of security cameras are not working. Main water tank and garbage tank are often unlocked. Security guards do not have proper uniform,"the complaint read.

Earlier in January, 2016, six-year-old Devansh Kakora had died at Ryan's Vasant Kunj branch, after allegedly falling into an open water tank.

Meanwhile, heavy security was deployed outside Ryan schools in Vasant Kunj, Noida, Greater Noida, and Faridabad, where groups of parents had started gathering around 8 am. The parents continued to create a ruckus and demanded that the principals meet them and address their concerns.

Situation took a turn for the worse at Ryan's Noida Sector- 39 branch, where parents caught hold of two contractual conductors, who were allegedly drunk. The duo, however, were released later after police gave them a clean chit.

Similarly, a group of parents created chaos outside the school's Faridabad branch, after they found a house-keeping staffer drunk. "How can we trust the school authorities with the safety of our children when there are so many security lapses here?"asked Rishi Sharma, a parent.

The authorities, however, blamed parents for "unnecessarily" creating scenes to malign the name of the school. "It has become really difficult for us to convince the parents now. They are levelling false allegations against us to bring a bad name to the school," said a principal, requesting anonymity.

The Ryan management has been under immense pressure after major security lapses were revealed by the police, including non-functional CCTV cameras and non-staffers sharing toilets with students.
