Metro rides will get slightly expensive from October 10, as the fourth Fare Fixation Committee has recommended a fare hike. This Metro fares have been increased for the second time this year.

A Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official said the rise was not very steep, and would go up by a maximum of Rs 10. The minimum fare will be Rs 10 while the maximum would be not more than Rs 60. The prices were last revised in May.

The proposed hike by the fixation committee is being implemented in a phased manner, this being the second phase. Travelling a distance of less than two kilometres will still cost Rs 10.

Fares have been uniformly increased by Rs 10 for all other distances, with maximum fare for journeys spanning more than 32 km to cost Rs 60 now, instead of the earlier Rs 50.
