The Special Operation Squad (SOS) of the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a wanted criminal who was evading arrest since 2011 in the case of a triple murder wherein three persons were first killed and their bodies burnt in Gurugram.

"Manoj Kumar (32) and his associates had murdered three persons on June 10, 2011. The victims were members of a rival gang and they burnt the bodies using kerosene in order to destroy evidence. We had received information that he would be coming towards Haiderpur in Outer Delhi and he was apprehended from there," said Joy Tirkey, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch).

Bijender, a known criminal in Haryana who has several criminal cases lodged against him, had murdered another person Neetu of his village in 2010. He was later arrested by Haryana police and sent to jail. In order to take revenge on Bijender, Neetu's brother Kuldip, along with his associates Sudhir and Amit, murdered his brother Patwari.

Even though Bijender was in jail, he asked his gang members (including Manoj Kumar) to eliminate Kuldip, Sudhir and Amit.

"They took the dead bodies in a Scorpio car to Pataudi in Gurugram. A murder case was later registered in Gurugram and Kumar was absconding since then," added Tirkey.

Other gang members of Manoj Kumar who were involved in the murder were identified as Jaswant alias Moni, Bijender, Rajesh alias Raja, Devender, Rohtash and Rajpal. They were arrested earlier but Kumar managed to evade arrest until now. The Haryana Police has been informed of his arrest.

Kumar has two previous criminal cases registered against him in Delhi.
