A Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MCAT) awarded compensation of Rs 8 lakh to the parents of a 24-year-old man who was killed in a road accident involving a rashly driven tempo in Gurugram in 2012.
MACT presiding officer Vidya Prakash directed Oriental Insurance Company, the insurer of the tempo, to pay Rs 8.06 lakh to the parents of deceased Parveen Kumar, a resident of Haryana.
In its observations, the tribunal noted, “In view of the evidence which has come on record, it is held that the petitioners (parents) have been able to prove that Kumar had sustained fatal injuries in a road accident on November 22, 2012 on the flyover of IFFCO Chowk at Sector 18 of Gurugram due to rash and negligent driving of a tempo.”
