The inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) final was supposed to take place between the table-toppers India and the second-placed New Zealand side. However, it was just the rain, who started the day on a high and had the last laugh as the first day of the summit clash was called off without a ball being bowled.

The players of the two teams, the crowd, the fans, the organisers and all the stakeholders waited all day for the rain to subside, however, it wasn't to be as the continuous rain meant the outfield had become a semi-swimming pool and puddles all around meant a long time for the groundsmen to clean up and make it fit for play.

Thus, the players and their families only hoped for the rain to go away all day. Team India skipper Virat Kohli's wife and actor-producer Anushka Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah's wife and presenter Sanjana Ganesan, Ravichandran Ashwin's wife Prithi Narayanan and opening batsman Rohit Sharma's wife Ritika Sajdeh, all reacted in their own way to the rain and hoped for it to go away soon.

Anushka posted her complaint o her Instagram story saying, "Rain...rain...go away! Come again after 5 days".

Ritika too posted on her Instagram story saying, "Dear rain, I was really looking forward to watching a Test match at the stadium in my pyjamas, kindly oblige."

Ashwin's wife Prithi took to Twitter to share a video from her hotel balcony, which is inside the Ageas Bowl Stadium in Southampton and wrote, "Rain has stopped. Fans are happy. I can hear the dol and happy singing. And @ashwinravi99 is going to do what he needs to do - have lunch."

While Sanjana, who is one of the hosts for ICC shared her picture from the studio and said it wasn't raining at that time when she clicked the picture and hoped for it to stay that way.
