Mumbai marched into the semifinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy after beating Bihar by nine wickets at the Just Cricket Academy Ground in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Bihar's inspired run in the tournament on domestic return after 18 years ended against traditional warhorses Mumbai in the first quarterfinal of Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Rohit Sharma returned to the Mumbai side for this quarterfinal. However, he was hardly tested in the low-scoring encounter that was an easy win for Mumbai.

After being invited to bat, Bihar were all out for 69 in 28.2 overs. With as many as seven batsmen failing to register double-digit scores, Md Rahmatullah top scored with just 18 runs.

Pacer Tushar Deshpande took five for 23 in his nine overs while left-arm spinner Shams Mulani claimed three for 18 for Mumbai.

Mumbai chased down the target in 12.3 overs. They lost the wicket of Akhil Herwadkar who scored 24 before being caught behind off Ashutosh Aman. Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 33 while wicketkeeper-batsman Aditya Tare was 7 not out.

Brief Scores

Mumbai 71/1 in 12.3 overs (Rohit Sharma 33) beat Bihar 69 all out in 28.2 overs (Tushar Deshpande 5/23, Shams Mulani 3/18) by nine wickets
