Team India cricket Hardik Pandya has started his New Year with a bang, as the allrounder officially got engaged with his long speculated girlfriend Natasa Stankovic on Wednesday (January 1).

For a long time, Natasa belonged to Hardik's close friend circle and the cricketer also introduced her to his parents as well.

Hardik's decision to propose Natasa was so secretive that even his father, Himanshu Pandya, knew nothing about it.

Himanshu during an interview with TOI said that they knew that Hardik was going to Dubai with Natasa but he told them nothing about proposing her for marriage.

“Natasa is a very nice girl, and we have met her in Mumbai on a number of occasions. We knew that they were going on a vacation to Dubai, but had no clue that they were going to get engaged. This took us by surprise. We came to know about it after they got engaged,” Himanshu was quoted as saying by TOI.

Speaking about a possible wedding date, senior Pandya claimed: “We haven’t decided on that yet, but I am sure that it will be decided soon.”

A very close friend of Hardik said: “I had been invited for the engagement but could not attend it, since it was in Dubai and I was busy with some work. It was a sudden development, and I was informed just about a week back. They have no immediate plans of tying the knot, and it might happen later in the year or even next year.”

The 26-year-old is currently recovering from his lower back injury and is currently spending time with his loved ones before leaving for New Zealand with 'India A' side.

A few months ago, Pandya successful underwent his surgery to treat a lower back issue which had got him ruled out of cricket and has last played for the 'Men In Blue' in a T20I series against South Africa but was not part of Team India's squad for their series against Bangladesh and West Indies.
