Making all speculations come true, Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper made his announcement when he reached the franchise training camp, shocking fans all over.

He brought down curtains to a glittering career after sharing a video and captioned the post, "Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired."

While this surely was a sad moment for Indian cricket fans, the team management will now have to look for a replacement for the wicketkeeper-batsman.

Players like Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson and Dinesh Karthik were already fighting for the spot, and now even KL Rahul has been added to the list.

In the recent poll held by DNA web, netizens voted for KL Rahul replace MS Dhoni as India's wicketkeeper. The stylish batsman was followed by Pant, then Karthik and Samson at last.

As for Pant, he was known to be the successor of MS Dhoni behind the stumps and was even trained by the wicketkeeper. However, his inconsistent form made him miss his spot during India's tour to New Zealand which was handed over to KL Rahul.

KL Rahul had proved a point to all when in the second ODI against the Kiwis he kept wickets as regular wicket-keeper after Rishabh Pant was concussed.

Rahul continued to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the 3rd ODI despite Rishabh Pant being declared fit. The Karnataka batsman too had said that he enjoys wicketkeeping.

"I am honestly loving it, in the international stage it might look that I am new to wicket-keeping, but I have done this role in the domestic cricket. I have done it for my IPL franchise, I enjoy staying behind the stumps," Rahul had told reporters after the first T20I.

Now with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020, which was scheduled to take place in Australia this year, was officially postponed due to coronavirus, the Indian management will look forward to seeing who can fit well for the next year's World Cup which is to be held in India.
