The IPL 2020 is less than one month away and teams are already making preparations to arrive in the UAE and train in the bio-bubble due to the coronavirus pandemic. Kings XI Punjab were the first franchise to leave for the UAE followed by the Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chennai Super Kings will leave for the UAE on August 21. Now, it is the turn of the Delhi Capitals to make preparations to head to the UAE to participate in IPL 2020. The Delhi Capitals franchise arrived in Mumbai on Thursday night where the whole squad will assemble and leave possibly on Friday night.

On their official Twitter handle, Delhi Capitals tweeted photos of Ajinkya Rahane checking into the hotel while Ishant Sharma was seen boarding a Spice Jet flight to arrive in Mumbai. There was another photo where Rishabh Pant is seen having a good time with some of the Delhi Capitals players and staff in the lobby of the hotel.

All teams wearing protective kits

While Delhi Capitals players were seen sporting a face mask, the Rajasthan Royals players wore PPE kits in the airport as they boarded the flight to the UAE. Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul was seen sporting a protective face shield while sitting on the flight as teams looked to adjust in the new coronavirus environment.

IPL 2020 was postponed from April to September due to the coronavirus pandemic as well as the lockdown imposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the months of April, May and June. Following the postponement of the ICC World T20 which was initially supposed to be held in October in Australia, the IPL 2020 found a window and the BCCI grabbed the opportunity to stage the tournament in the UAE.

This will be the second time that the UAE hosts the tournament. In 2014, UAE hosted half of the IPL in the country due to the General Elections in India. This will also be the second time that the IPL will be played totally in a foreign country, with the 2009 IPL taking place entirely in South Africa once again due to the General Elections. The schedule for IPL 2020 has not yet been announced.
