ICC World Test Championship: Match officials for final announced

As the World Test Championship (WTC) final is approaching, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the match officials for the event that will be played between India and New Zealand at the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton from 18 June.

Chris Broad of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees along with Richard Illingworth and Michael Gough of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires will be the on-field officials for the match.

Richard Kettleborough, also a member of the elite panel, will be the TV umpire, while Alex Wharf of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Umpires the fourth official.

Before the summit clash, New Zealand is taking on England in a two-match Test series. The first Test match is already over and the match ended in a draw. 

New Zealand batsman Devon Conway, who made his debut, scored a classic double century at the Lord's Cricket ground in the first Test.

The Kiwis have not lost even one of their last 7 Test matches, and have won 6 of those as well. India too will enter the WTC final after thrashing England 3-1 at home. 

Before the series against England, Virat Kohli and Co beat the Australian side in a four-match Test series in their land. After the WTC final, India will play in a five-match Test series against England from 4th August 2021.
