Abhay Bhutada is the Managing Director (MD) of Poonawalla Fincorp Limited (PFL), a Cyrus Poonawalla group-promoted non-banking finance company. Bhutada has over 15 years of experience in commercial and retail lending. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) and a seasoned finance professional.  

The 38-year-old belongs to Latur, Maharashtra. He holds a bachelor's degree in Commerce from Symbiosis International University. In 2009, he became a Chartered Accountant (CA). He now heads Poonawalla Fincorp which has a market capitalisation of Rs 29,199 crore on NSE as of September 29, 2023. The share price of the company was Rs 379.20 on Friday.

The company is engaged in consumer and MSME financing. It is headquartered in Pune and is part of the Cyrus Poonawalla Group, headed by Cyrus Poonawalla, who is India's richest pharma billionaire with a real-time net worth of Rs 1,71,880 crore, as per Forbes.

Bhutada started his professional journey in 2010 as an SME Finance Professional with the Bank of India. Since then, he has been a serial entrepreneur, earning multiple awards and laurels. In 2016, Abhay founded TAB Capital Limited, a digital-lending NBFC focused on retail loans, including MSME and consumer lending.

Bhutada is passionate about using technology in financial services. He has been instrumental in setting up the lending business of the Poonawalla group. Currently, Abhay serves as MD of Poonawalla Fincorp Limited, focusing on developing new business avenues, strategising and executing business targets, and prioritising digitalisation, risk management, and corporate governance.
