Dell Computers wooing small and medium size businesses

Positioning itself as a complete solutions provider, Dell Computer India Private Ltd, one of the largest computer system vendors in India, today said it was targetting to become IT partner to Small and Medium Businesses (SMB)s in the country.

The focus on SMBs was beginning to show results with Dell becoming the number 2 in the SMB segment as per the third quarter Calender Year 2010 IDC report.

Dell has introduced a multi faceted strategy for long term growth which was designed to transform the company to a solutions provider that delivers targeted hardware, services and solutions to address the top needs of consumers and organisations of all sites, Satyen Vyas, Director, Medium Business, CSMB, Dell India, told reporters here.

At the global level, ther are 72 million plus SMBs, one third of which is located in Asia Pacifc region. In India there are approximately 8 million SMBs, while in Kerala it is approximately 12,000.

Dell's recent global restructuring has helped the company better serve customers and understand unique SMB technology needs. The SMB segment has been among the articulated top five priorities for Dell globally, he said.

The company has launched SMB specific products from the vostro range of desktops and laptos, which is among the first PC line specifically designed for the SMBs to industry leading IP SAN storage technology and among the most power efficient serviers.

Dell has also launched its PartnerDirect channel proramme to incras its reach into the Indian cities reaching out to almost 200 cties, thus enabling Dell to provide a complete technology solution to SMBs from notebooks, to enterprise, products among others.

The company was 'committed to the small and medium businesses int eh country to help them grow with a suite of specific products and simplified IT solutions geared to their needs', Vyas said.

Dell has also launched 'Take Your Own Path' campagin, the first SMB brand campgain which had its genesis in India and is now a global campaign across 8 countries. The campagin is directed towards today's entreprenuers of small and medium bsuinesses.
