Who was Raj Kaushal? Actor Mandira Bedi's husband who died of cardiac arrest

Mandira Bedi's husband, Raj Kaushal passed away earlier on Wednesday morning on June 30 suffering from a heart attack at the age of 49. His funeral was held at the Dadar Shivaji Park crematorium with close family and friends from the industry. 

Raj Kaushal began his career as an actor and later went on to become a director and producer. His most active years were the 90s and the mid-2000. He directed three films during the time, 'Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi', 'Shaadi Ka Laddoo', and 'Anthony Kaun Hai', and worked as a producer for films like 'My Brother Nikhil'. Many do not know but he also worked as a stunt coordinator as well. 

Before getting married in 1999, Raj and Mandira had dated for a few years. They had a son together, Vir Kaushal. They went on to adopt a girl child in October 2020 and named her Tara Bedi Kaushal.

As the news of his demise spread, people from the industry took to social media to pay their respect and condolences. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit wrote: “Shocked to hear about the sad demise of our colleague #RajKaushal an ace filmmaker due to massive heart attack this morning. Our heartfelt condolences to his wife @mandybedi  for this huge tragedy. We stand by you & your entire family in this hour of crisis.”

Onir, who has directed 'My Brother Nikhil' also expressed his grief, “Gone too soon. We lost Filmmaker and Producer @rajkaushal1  this morning. Very Sad. He was one of the producers of my first film #MyBrotherNikhil. One of those few who believed in our vision and supported us. Prayers for his soul” wrote Onir. 

Many from the film industry like Ronit Roy, Samir Soni, and Ashish Chaudhary were present at the funeral. Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal are believed to have spent time last weekend with a group of friends which included cricketer Zaheer Khan and wife Sagarika Ghatge in addition to Ashish Chaudhary, Neha Dhupia, and her husband Angad Bedi.
