The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who have received orders from the Supreme Court to probe into actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death, will be arriving in Mumbai soon. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal confirmed that they will have to get a quarantine exemption from them if they plan to stay in the city for over a week.

"If CBI team comes for 7 days they will be automatically exempted from quarantine and if they come for more than seven days period then they have to apply for exemption through our email id and we'll exempt them," Chahal told ANI.

Previously, the BMC had put IPS officer Vinay Tiwari under quarantine once he arrived to the Mumbai airport, in order to speed up the investigation being conducted by the Bihar Police. The Bihar DGP had expressed disappointment back then.

The Supreme Court had announced that the CBI could probe into Sushant's death on Wednesday (August 19) stating that the FIR filed in Patna was correct and the Bihar government is competant enough to transfer the case to CBI. It also ordered the Maharashtra government to assist CBI in the probe.

Sushant's father KK Singh had filed an FIR with Patna Police against actor Rhea Chakraborty, who was SSR's girlfriend. She had approached the apex court to transfer the case from Patna to Mumbai.

KK Singh had filed the FIR against her under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 306 (abetment of suicide), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead on June 14, 2020 under mysterious circumstances. Mumbai Police, Bihar Police and Enforcement Directorate (ED) were investigating the matter before SC ordered transfer of the case to CBI.
