It's the era of biopics in Bollywood from the past few years. Several leading actors of Bollywood have portrayed many real-life characters from legendary sports personalities to politicians and more. Currently, one of the most awaited sports biopics in the pipeline is Kabir Khan's upcoming directorial '83 which is based on India's historic win at the World Cup 1983. In this film, we will be seeing Ranveer Singh playing the role of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev.

Moreover, his wife and actor Deepika Padukone has been roped in to play the role of Kapil's wife Romi Dev in '83. The actor even kickstarted the shoot with her husband in London. During a recent interaction with Bombay Times, when Deepika was asked about which sports personalities biopic she would like to star in, the dimpled beauty took her dad and legendary badminton player Prakash Padukone's name.

Deepika stated, "I understand the gender issue (smiles). But if I had to play a sports person, then it would be him or any sports legend from that era. That’s because of what they achieved in the circumstances, within the limited exposure and knowledge versus the kind of funds, facilities and visibility available to athletes today. But in spite of all that, to achieve that greatness and legendary status is commendable. Our yesteryear athletes inspire me."

Talking about '83, the film is slated to release on April 10, 2020.

Apart from that, Deepika will next be seen in Chhapaak helmed by Meghna Gulzar in which she plays the role of acid attack survivor.
