Bollywood and politics have gone hand-in-hand since a long time. Some celebrities have turned politicians, while others express strong opinions on the politicians who run for elections every year. A few name among these celebrities are Kangana Ranaut, Akshay Kumar, Swara Bhasker, Richa Chadha, Twinke Khanna, Anupam Kher and others. They often openly speak and support a party.

Ranvir Shorey is the latest to join this gang as he openly asked Rahul Gandhi, leader of Indian National Congress, to quit politics. Not only Rahul, Shorey asked the whole Gandhi family to quit politics so that there might be scope for New India.

The whole story goes back to when Rahul Gandhi shared photos from Army Dog Unit where dogs were receiving their training. Gandhi captioned the two photos as 'New India'. Ranvir Shorey instantly replied to the same on his Twitter page by writing 'Hate much?'

He then added, 'New India will be when you and your family quit politics'. The actor further went on to indulge in a war of words with a follower of Congress. "The joke is that the Congress party is reduced to clowns like you who worship one dynasty!," wrote the actor, adding, "I don’t need a Congress troll to worry about my career either. Collect your 2 Rs per tweet while you can."

Right before the elections, Ranvir Shorey had released a video in support of BJP. "I believe (ask), have the problems we are facing today, come into existence recently? Was our country on the right path five years back? Were there no riots then? Weren't the poor killed in the name of caste and religion? Wasn't there hunger and poverty," he had questioned, adding, "It is unfair to blame a government which came into ruling only five years back for all these problems. One cannot solve such huge problems of a densely populated country in a span of five years." He also clearly spoke, "Those who could not improve the condition over 60 years, talk about justice right now. Is it fair that a family would rule a country over generations? These people, living in palaces, who have ruled our country over four generations, now talk about hatred. How would they know about the rage that comes after being treated with injustice and poverty?"
