'Kabir Singh' Box-Office Report Day 1: Shahid Kapoor gets his biggest opening of all time!

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh finally hit the screens on Friday that is, June 21, 2019. The film is the Hindi remake of Telugu hit film Arjun Reddy which starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in the lead roles. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film started with a bang by hitting the occupancy of about 50% on Friday during morning shows. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh had tweeted, "#KabirSingh screen count... India: 3123 Overseas: 493 Worldwide total: 3616 screens Starts with a bang... Not just urban centres, even mass-dominated areas witness excellent occupancy in morning/pre-noon shows... Big *Day 1* biz on the cards. India biz."

Now as per reports in Box Office India, the first-day collections of Kabir Singh are out. Shahid and Kiara's film has minted about Rs 20 crore on its opening day making it the biggest ever opening for Shahid. It beat the opening records of his last hit film Padmaavat which had made about Rs 18.21 crore. Despite receiving heavy criticism from many, Kabir Singh has been accepted massively by the masses.

Earlier, during an interaction with PTI, when Shahid was asked about comparisons between Kabir Singh and Devdas, he stated, "I'll take that as a compliment because 'Devdas' is a classic film which is the story of a self-destructive man as the hero was mad about his love. So yes, if you look at it in a generic way, you can draw some parallels."

He added, "I think the character of Kabir in the film loves with full passion and when his heart breaks, he feels lost and becomes self-destructive. It is difficult to hate the girl but yes, I think he starts hating himself."
