'Have to try something different': Saumya Tandon on quitting 'Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain' after 5 years

Saumya Tandon is no longer a part of 'Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain'. The actor is quitting the show after the long association for half a decade (five years - 'Bhabhi JI Ghar Par Hain' first aired in 2015). Speaking to Zee News about her decision to quit, Saumya said, "I had to do something new in my career, therefore, I decided to leave the show. It has been a beautiful journey of 5 years, Bhabhiji gave a lot but now I have to do a lot more."

She further added, "It is not necessary for me now to come on TV every day. I would like to work on good content, a good script, there have been many shades in the character of Anita Bhabhi, but I have to try something different."

Speaking about her team, Saumya said, "Everyone on Bhabhiji is like family, producer Mrs. Kohli, Director Shashank Bali, it has been a good memory all along, I will miss everyone. Asif, Rohit have become my good friends and our friendship will remain, but now the time has come to move on."

Talking further about her future projects, Saumya said that OTT content and platform are tremendous and that she would want to wait for good roles and scripts. However, Saumya cleared that she will not participate in the reality show Bigg Boss.

The decision came on Thursday amid speculations that she is not happy with the pay cut and does not want to risk her health during COVID-19.

Various reports have mentioned that 'Bigg Boss 13' contestant Shefali Jariwala might be considered for the role. Jariwala has not confirmed or denied the news herself yet, but Saumya declined the rumours.
