Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Salman Khan-starrer Kuch Kuch Hota Hai celebrated 25 years of its release a few days earlier. In his multiple interviews, the director Karan Johar has said that he had approached multiple actors before Salman came on board to play Aman's character in the film. One of those actors was Chandrachur Singh.

An old video from Karan's talk show Koffee With Karan is now going viral on the internet in which the filmmaker can be heard saying, "I remember the first time I ever came to your home to narrate my first film to you. Saif and Chandrachur had said no to the role. And you said that no one’s going to do your role, you come and meet me tomorrow."

Replying to him, Salman said in the clip, "It was not difficult for you to get a Shah Rukh Khan in the film but it was very difficult for you to get this casting (Aman) because Saif at that point of time was doing nothing. Chandrachur was doing nothing. Even they refused it. I did it, Karan. I saw talent, I saw genius in you. And after that you never worked with me."

Reacting to the video, Chandrachur Singh called Salman Khan a liarr as he commented, "Jhoot Salman Ka (Salman's big lie)". When one of the netizens asked him about the lie, the Aarya actor clarified he wasn't jobless at that time as claimed by Salman as he wrote, "I had Josh, Daag The Fire, Kya Kehna, Silsila Hai Pyaar Ka, etc. I made a choice." It seems that Singh has now deleted his comments, but a screenshots of the same has been shared on the Reddit group Bolly Blinds N Gossip, and is going viral.

Apart from the lead cast, the film also featured Archana Puran Singh, Anupam Kher, Sana Saeed, Farida Jalal, Reema Lagoo, and Johnny Lever. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai bagged two National Film Awards, one for Best Female Playback Singer - Alka Yagnik for the title track and another for Best Film For Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
