The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has interrogated Rhea Chakraborty once again, and also asked Mumbai Police to provide her protection
Rhea Chakraborty arrived for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioning the second time on Saturday. Rhea and her brother Showmik Chakraborty were spotted outside DRDO guest house in Santacruz, which is where the CBI is currently staying.
Rhea had previously appeared before the CBI`s Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday at nearly 1.20 pm. The CBI interrogated Rhea for the first time in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case on August 28.
On Saturday, the CBI also wrote a letter to Mumbai police to provide protection to Rhea Chakraborty as she has claimed a threat to her and her family’s life. The Mumbai Police has also confirmed that they would provide Rhea protection whenever she commutes to DRDO guest house.
Rhea had alleged that a few media people have tried to enter her compound building forcefully. She urged the Mumbai Police to provide her protection on Thursday (August 27) accusing the media of misbehaviour in her area.
Mumbai Police had accompanied Rhea and her brother Showmik Chakraborty for their interrogation on Saturday. Rhea was questioned for 10 hours in the first summoning (on August 28).
According to CBI sources, agency officials questioned Rhea about her relationship with Sushant. Her statement was recorded by CBI`s Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Superintendent of Police Nupur Prasad.
Sushant Singh Rajput died on June 14, 2020 under mysterious circumstances. After a long demand, the Supreme Court transferred the actor's death case from Mumbai Police and Bihar Police to the CBI. The probe agency is currently interrogating people to cross-verify statements.
Before CBI, Rhea Chakraborty and her family, including brother Showmik, were grilled by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a related money-laundering case. Rhea's father Indrajit had recently submitted documents about his investments and properties with the agency.
