A group of Youth Congress workers raided a godown in Rajmahal Guttahalli and seized 50 bundles of sweaters allegedly stored to be distributed by the BJP among voters for the panchayat elections.

On Tuesday evening, about 30 Congress workers headed by Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (KPYCC) president S Manohar raided the godown, near Little Angels School and seized about 50,000 sweaters with the help of Vyalikaval police.

“After receiving the information, we raided the godown with the help of police and seized sweaters. The police took Mohan, a BJP worker, into custody. We will file complaint with State Election Commission on Wednesday against the BJP,” said Manohar.

Zameer challenges ruling party
In an open challenge to the BJP, JD(S) MLA Zameer Ahmad Khan said that he will work as a watchman in chief minister’s residence for a week if the ruling party won more than 60% of seats in the panchayat elections.

“I will tonsure my head and also cut half of my moustache,” said Khan.

Participating in an election campaign in Chennapatna, he said that the BJP was losing its roots in villages and people were fed up with the corrupt government.

“In 2008 assembly elections, I had challenged the BJP that if they won a full majority I will work as watchman in the chief minister’s residence. But they won just 100 seats, three short for a simple majority. I am throwing a challenge to the BJP again,” said Khan.
