A meeting of the State Parliamentary Board of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) began on Wednesday evening to prepare a list of likely candidates for the upcoming by-elections for Rajya Sabha.
The short-listed candidates will be further screened by the Central Parliamentary Board to finalise two candidates. Voting will take place on July 5.
The meeting began at 8:00 pm at the official residence of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in Gandhinagar.
The Board consists of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, deputy chief minister Nitin Patel, Gujarat BJP president Jitu Waghani, some senior ministers and senior office bearers of the BJP.
