Bodies recovered, complain lodged, FSL, SOG and bomb squad investigating the matter
A blast at an open space of an estate led to chaos at Narol-Isanpur road. Two labourers lost lives in the incident. The reason for the blast is not known yet, even as officials from the police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and the Forensic Science Laboratory are investigating the matter.
The deceased have been identified as Kalu Damor (20) and Ashish Pargi (20), residents of Narol. The blast reportedly occurred at around 12:30 pm and people within a 5 km radius were reported to have heard the blast.
The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Service (AFES) team was immediately informed by locals who claimed that two gas cylinders had exploded and that one of the houses located near the estate was on fire. However, when AFES officials reached the spot, they realised that the blast had not been caused by gas cylinders and that there was no house on fire either. Two men were found dead at the spot, crushed under debris.
Senior police officials, including DCP Zone-6 Bipin Ahire and others reached the spot to investigate. "Two workers were digging up the open land between shops of the estate when the blast occurred. Forensic officials, the bomb and dog squads have been informed about the matter and after their scientific investigation, we would be able to find out what initiated the blast," said Ahire.
With the help of fire and police officials, the bodies were recovered from under the debris and have been sent for post-mortem. Inspector JM Solanki of Isanpur police station said, "We have lodged a case of accidental death in the matter and have started to investigate for whom the labourers were working and what exactly they were doing."
