A team of sleuths of Special Operation Group (SOG) on Wednesday recovered 29 more cocaine capsules from the Nigerian who was arrested from Ahmedabad Airport on Monday. Seventy-three capsules, worth Rs 2.13 crore, have been recovered from 39-year-old Zohou Alexis over last three days.
The officials started checking his luggage after 44 capsules, worth Rs1.3 crore, were initially recovered from Alexis. Another 29 capsules were found concealed in chocolate wrappers.
"When CISF jawan caught him on the basis of HHMD they thought he had swallowed gold. Later, an X-ray report revealed it was something else. We don't know why the HHMD device started beeping. We are now trying to track the chain of the entire drug smuggling linked to Alexis and to whom he was going to deliver drugs," BC Solanki, ACP of SOG said.
The officers are trying to find out who the consignment was supposed to be delivered to and the supplier of the drugs, police said. The primary investigation also revealed that Zohou was a carrier and was getting well paid.
The accused was caught at the Sadar Vallabbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad during the routine checking of the passengers. Alexis had arrived from Dubai and was on his way to take a connecting flight to Mumbai when he was stopped by the CISF jawan.
