RR 140/6 (20)
Match over
0.0 : It is Super Sunday and we have two games lined up for you. First it will be Rajasthan taking on Hyderabad, followed by Bangalore locking horns with Kolkata. We welcome you to the coverage of the first game in Jaipur. The home side have been quite inconsistent so far. They have won three and lost three. Rahane will be eager for a win here today as it will take them into the top four. They will also be confident as they are playing at home where they have won 2 out of the three games they have pla
They though are up against a very strong Hyderabad side. They are on a 2-game winning streak and Williamson will want to make it three today, banking a bit more on his batsmen than his bowlers. A win here for them will see them go on top of the table for the time being. The last time these two met, the visitors blew away the hosts. Let us hope for an even encounter between bat and ball.
PITCH REPORT - Brett Lee says it looks a good surface to bat on. Reckons spin won't play much of a part in the game. Informs there is decent covering of grass on the surface and the new ball bowlers should get a little assistance.
TOSS - Hyderabad win the toss and they opt to bat first. This is only the third time this season that a captain has decided to have a go with the bat after winning the toss.
Kane Williamson says it looks like a pretty good surface. Informs there is one change, Alex Hales comes in for Mohammad Nabi. Ends by saying they have adapted to the conditions well and they will hope to do the same here.
Ajinkya Rahane says they took two to three days off but they have practiced really hard in the last three days. Informs Ish Sodhi and Mahipal Lomror come in for Shreyas Gopal and Heinrich Klaasen. Ends by saying they too were looking to bat first.
We are all set for the action to begin. Out come the Rajasthan players with the umpires. The two Hyderabad openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Alex Hales follow them. A new opening pair for the visitors and they will hope for them to provide a good start. Krishnappa Gowtham will open the bowling for Rajasthan. Here we go...
0.1 : K Gowtham to A Hales, Alex Hales is up and running. Gowtham bowls this a little fuller on off, Hales lunges and eases it down to long on for a run. One ball is all it took for him to score his first Indian T20 run for Hyderabad.
0.2 : K Gowtham to S Dhawan, Dhawan is off the mark now! Gowtham fires this one on middle, Dhawan rocks back and works it towards wide mid on for a run.
0.3 : K Gowtham to A Hales, Darts this one on the stumps, Hales keeps it out off the back foot.
0.4 : K Gowtham to A Hales, Once again this is quicker outside off, no turn on offer. Hales goes down on one knee and tries to sweep but does not connect. This is his go-to shot to the spinner. He however does not connect this time.
0.5 : K Gowtham to A Hales, On the pads, Hales works it to square leg. So a good over till now, just two from it. Can he finish it well?
0.6 : K Gowtham to A Hales, Yes, he does! Once again angles it into the batsman. Hales works it through mid-wicket to end the over with a run. So just three from the first over, tidy stuff from Gowtham.
Dhawal Kulkarni will bowl from the other end.
1.1 : D Kulkarni to A Hales, FOUR! Bread and butter stuff for Hales. Not a good start by Kulkarni. This is short and outside off, Hales waits for it to come and then cuts it through point for a boundary.
1.2 : D Kulkarni to A Hales, Good comeback! Bowls it on a length around off, Hales defends it.
1.3 : D Kulkarni to A Hales, FOUR! Second in the over! Kulkarni is bowling to Hales' strength here. Once again he is on the shorter side. It sits up to be hit. Hales rocks back and pulls it through mid-wicket.
1.4 : D Kulkarni to A Hales, The ball is coming nicely onto the bat as this one is driven on the up towards mid off for a quick run.
1.5 : D Kulkarni to S Dhawan, FOUR! Good ball but a boundary results. Not a good start for Kulkarni. He bowls it very full on middle, it shapes back in late. Dhawan somehow flicks it through square leg and the ball races away for the third boundary from the over.
1.6 : D Kulkarni to S Dhawan, On the pads again, Dhawan works it towards fine leg for a run. 14 from this over.
2.1 : K Gowtham to S Dhawan, OUT! CHOPPED ON! Gowtham draws first blood. Dhawan was unsure whether to play the sweep shot or to cut it and that brings about his downfall. Gowtham from around the wicket fires it around off. Dhawan first thinks about sweeping it but seeing the line, he tries to cut. However, even that shot was not on as the ball was too close to the off pole. In the end he ends up getting an inside edge onto the stumps. So an early wicket for Rajasthan. Just the start they needed.
0.0 : Kane Williamson is the next man in.
2.2 : K Gowtham to K Williamson, Works it with the turn to get off the mark on the very first ball.
2.3 : K Gowtham to A Hales, Floats this one up on middle, Hales drives it down to long on for a run.
2.4 : K Gowtham to K Williamson, Attacks the stumps on middle, Kane works it to mid-wicket.
2.5 : K Gowtham to K Williamson, This is on middle, Williamson works it towards square leg for another dot. Another good over by Gowtham. There is still a ball to go. Can he finish it well again?
2.6 : K Gowtham to K Williamson, He surely does as this one is pushed down to long on for a run. Just 6 from his two overs and he also has a wicket to his name.
3.1 : D Kulkarni to K Williamson, FOUR! Not learning is Dhawal here. He once again is on the shorter side. This time there is also width on offer. Williamson cashes in on it and cuts it through point for a boundary.
3.2 : D Kulkarni to K Williamson, Good delivery. So just like the last over, the first one was a poor ball and the second one is a good one. On middle, Williamson defends it towards mid on.
3.3 : D Kulkarni to K Williamson, Length again on off, Williamson taps it down towards point for a quick run.
3.4 : D Kulkarni to A Hales, Hales shuffles across in an attempt to spoil the length and line of the bowler. However, Dhawal sticks to the basics and attacks the stumps. Hales pushes it to mid on.
3.5 : D Kulkarni to A Hales, Slower ball on off, Hales drives it towards mid off for a run.
3.6 : D Kulkarni to K Williamson, So a good finish to the over and a good one after going for a boundary on the first ball. This is fuller in length and on off, Kane drives it to covers.
Jofra Archer is into the attack.
4.1 : J Archer to A Hales, Good length on off, Hales pushes it to mid on for a run.
4.2 : J Archer to K Williamson, FOUR! Beautiful! Not a bad delivery but such is the class of Williamson that he puts that away. This is fuller and on middle, Kane shows the full face of the bat and drives it through mid on for a boundary.
4.3 : J Archer to K Williamson, EDGED BUT DROPPED! A chance goes abegging. Tripathi is the culprit. This is on a length around off, it shapes away a touch. Williamson tries to defend but gets an outside edge which goes towards first slip. Tripathi there dives to his right but fails to hang on. How costly will this prove? Williamson is the man in-form, not someone you want to be dropping. Also, the last time Tripathi dropped one was in Pune off Watson and the Aussie went on to score a century. Wha
4.4 : J Archer to K Williamson, Works it with the angle through square leg for a run.
4.5 : J Archer to A Hales, The batsman works it down the leg side. They pick up a single.
4.6 : J Archer to K Williamson, Good length on off, Kane defends it solidly. So a good first over by Archer. He could have even tasted success but it wasn't meant to be.
Jaydev Unadkat is into the attack. He will bowl the last over of the Powerplay!
5.1 : J Unadkat to A Hales, Good start by Unadkat. This is on a length around off, Hales pushes it to covers.
5.2 : J Unadkat to A Hales, Sees Hales giving him the charge. Unadkat shortens his length and also bowls the slower one. Hales drives it to mid off for a quick run.
5.3 : J Unadkat to K Williamson, This is on a length around off, it angles away from the batsman. Williamson defends it back to the bowler.
5.4 : J Unadkat to K Williamson, Hit off the middle but to the man in the deep. This is fractionally short and on middle. Kane pulls it through square leg to the fielder in the deep for a run.
5.5 : J Unadkat to A Hales, Change of pace on off, Hales shuffles across and uses his wrists to work it through backward square leg for a couple.
5.6 : J Unadkat to A Hales, Slower short ball again, bowling to his field is Unadkat. Hales pulls it through mid-wicket. There are two men in the deep and one of them cuts it off and keeps it down to two. End of the Powerplay and Rajasthan will be the happier of the two. They have kept it tight and Hyderabad are 39 for 1.
Ish Sodhi is into the attack. He is making his debut for Rajasthan. Can he make an immediate impact?
6.1 : Ish Sodhi to K Williamson, He has started off well with a tossed up ball on off, Williamson drives it down to long off for a run.
6.2 : Ish Sodhi to A Hales, Loopy ball on off, Hales eases it down to long off for a single.
6.3 : Ish Sodhi to K Williamson, Uppish but away from the fielder. Loopy ball on off, Williamson pushes it uppishly through mid off for a run.
6.4 : Ish Sodhi to A Hales, Driven towards the mid on region. The batsmen have run through for a single.
6.5 : Ish Sodhi to K Williamson, FOUR! Poor ball and is dispatched! Short and on middle, Kane is quick to rock back and pull it through mid-wicket for a boundary.
6.6 : Ish Sodhi to K Williamson, This is fuller on off, Williamson drives it towards covers. The fielder there makes a half stop and concedes a run. So nine from Sodhi's first. Not a good one from him.
Ben Stokes is into the attack.
7.1 : Ben Stokes to K Williamson, Shorter in length and on middle, Kane pulls it towards fine leg for a run.
7.2 : Ben Stokes to A Hales, Excellent fielding! This is fuller and on off, Hales strokes it past the bowler and beats mid off. Gowtham from long on runs to his left, dives and he seems to have saved two runs for his side. The umpire goes up to check and replays show the youngster has done a fine job.
7.3 : Ben Stokes to A Hales, Very full outside off, driven through covers for a run.
7.4 : Ben Stokes to K Williamson, Angles it on the pads, Kane works it towards short mid-wicket.
7.5 : Ben Stokes to K Williamson, Another good effort in the field! This is on a length around middle, Williamson whips it towards mid-wicket. Tripathi there makes a good diving stop to his right but can't stop the single.
7.6 : Ben Stokes to A Hales, Slower ball down the leg side, Hales works it towards fine leg for a run.
8.1 : Ish Sodhi to A Hales, DROPPED! But what an attempt there by Ben Stokes. This is full and on middle, Hales whips it uppishly towards Stokes at deep mid-wicket. He runs to his right, dives and tries to take it with both hands but can't hang onto it. For a second it looked like he had taken it but good sportsman spirit shown by him as he immediately signaled that it was grassed. So both the batsmen out there have got a life, how costly is this going to be? The batsmen take a run.
8.2 : Ish Sodhi to K Williamson, The batsman works it down the leg side. The batsmen have run through for a single.
8.3 : Ish Sodhi to A Hales, In the air... just short! Hales comes down the track and tries to clear long on. Archer there comes running towards the ball but it lands in front of him. The batsmen take two.
8.4 : Ish Sodhi to A Hales, Loopy ball on off, Hales drives it to point.
8.5 : Ish Sodhi to A Hales, The batsman has played it to the point region. One run added to the total.
8.6 : Ish Sodhi to K Williamson, FOUR! Good end to the over for Hyderabad. This is a flighted ball outside off, it is a little too full. Williamson reaches out for it and goes over extra cover for a boundary. So once again, Sodhi's over ends with a boundary.
Strategic break has been signaled!
9.1 : Ben Stokes to A Hales, FOUR! Pummeled! Short of a length delivery on middle, Hales rides the bounce, swivels a bit and nails the pull between square leg and fine leg for a boundary. This also brings up the 50-run stand between the two.
9.2 : Ben Stokes to A Hales, Strangled on the pads, flicked fine down the leg side for a couple.
9.3 : Ben Stokes to A Hales, Stays back and stabs it out towards cover.
9.4 : Ben Stokes to A Hales, Fuller outside off, driven hard but a good stop at cover from the fielder denies them a boundary.
9.5 : Ben Stokes to A Hales, Fullish in length on off, eased down to long off for one.
9.6 : Ben Stokes to K Williamson, Good end to the over after conceding a boundary on the first ball. Good length delivery, angling in, worked towards mid-wicket for nothing.
Mahipal Lomror comes on to bowl.
10.1 : M Lomror to A Hales, Starts off with a flatter delivery on middle, it's punched down to long on for one.
10.2 : M Lomror to K Williamson, Williamson comes down the track and works it off the pads towards short fine leg for another single.
10.3 : M Lomror to A Hales, Darts it in on middle and leg, nudged in front of square leg for one.
10.4 : M Lomror to K Williamson, Williamson makes room, Lomror follows him. Kane could only punch it down to long on for a single.
10.5 : M Lomror to A Hales, Gets down and sweeps it straight to the man at short fine leg.
10.6 : M Lomror to A Hales, FOUR! What was a good over turns out to be a poor one. Lomror drops it short on middle, Alex quickly rocks back and pulls it towards deep square leg to end the over with a boundary. The partnership is swelling nicely for the visitors.
11.1 : J Unadkat to K Williamson, FOUR! Smart! Back of a length delivery, angling away, Williamson shuffles across and paddles it over the keeper for a boundary towards fine leg.
11.2 : J Unadkat to K Williamson, SIX! Downtown! Lovely use of the feet, I tell you! Skips down to a length delivery and goes bang over long off. Superb connection!
11.3 : J Unadkat to K Williamson, FOUR! More runs! Kane Williamson has decided to step on the gas now! Unadkat comes from around the wicket and hurls a length delivery outside off, Williamson whacks it over extra cover and it races away to the fence. 14 already from the over.
11.4 : J Unadkat to K Williamson, Eases this fuller delivery through the gap at mid-wicket and runs two. Good running!
11.5 : J Unadkat to K Williamson, FOUR! Edged and away! There is no slip and Williamson is on a roll here. On a length, slightly wider on off, Kane goes hard at it and it takes the thick outside edge which flies through the vacant slip cordon and runs down to the third man fence. Moves on to 49 with that.
11.6 : J Unadkat to K Williamson, That's fifty for Kane Williamson! He's in some red hot form and continues to flourish! Remember, he was given an early life when he was on 11 and he's making the most of it. Works this length delivery through mid-wicket and scampers through to the other end. Huge over for Hyderabad as 21 came off it.

12.2 : J Archer to A Hales, Back of a length delivery outside off, tapped towards cover for a single.

13.2 : K Gowtham to K Williamson, Comes down the track and hits it down to long off for a single.
13.3 : K Gowtham to A Hales, OUT! Gowtham comes and breaks the 92-run stand that was taking the game away! Bowls it slower through the air and serves it a bit wider outside off, Hales comes down the track and has to reach out for that one. Ends up slicing it in the air towards backward point where Sanju Samson accepts an easy catch. A very uncharacteristic knock by him comes to an end. However, he played a handy role in the partnership.
Manish Pandey is in next.
13.4 : K Gowtham to K Williamson, Lunges forward a bit and bunts it back.
13.5 : K Gowtham to K Williamson, Cuts this flatter delivery through point and takes a brace.
13.6 : K Gowtham to K Williamson, Good running! A bit too full on middle, whipped down to long on. Kane wanted two, calls for it and they complete it easily in the end. Just 6 from the over and Gowtham now has figures of 3-0-12-2!

14.5 : Ish Sodhi to K Williamson, OUT! The decision stands! The Snicko shows a bit of spike and Kane Williamson will have to walk back. Ish Sodhi removes his national team's skipper as he bags his maiden Indian T20 League wicket. Slips in the googly, it turns back in from a length and also stays a touch low. Kane tries to cut and it goes through to Buttler who pouches it extremely low. Lovely take and they all go up in an appeal. Umpire S Ravi raises his finger. Williamson walks across and has a

Ben Stokes to bowl his third over.
16.1 : Ben Stokes to Al Hasan, Back of a length delivery outside off, hit hard but finds the man at cover.
16.2 : Ben Stokes to Al Hasan, Short of a length delivery outside off, Shakib looks to cut it away but gets it off the bottom edge towards cover. They try to steal a single as Rahane has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. Could have been close had that hit the stumps.
16.3 : Ben Stokes to M Pandey, Backs away to a short ball outside off and punches it towards sweeper cover for a double.
16.4 : Ben Stokes to M Pandey, FOUR! Up and over mid off! Waits for the fuller delivery does Manish, clears his front leg and lifts it over mid off for a boundary. There was an element of risk involved but he played it to perfection.
16.5 : Ben Stokes to M Pandey, Once again makes room to go hard through cover but can't find the gap.
16.6 : Ben Stokes to M Pandey, Beaten due to the extra bounce! Stokes bangs in a short one outside off, MP backs away and looks to throw his bat at it but gets beaten by the extra bounce.

17.6 : J Archer to Y Pathan, OUT! Yes, he does! Picks up second from the over! Short of a length delivery outside off, Pathan waits back and tries to guide it down. It flies straight down the throat of Dhawal Kulkarni who makes no mistake. 4 runs and two wickets from the over, supreme act from Archer!
Wriddhiman Saha is the new man in. Also, it will be Jaydev Unadkat who will bowl the penultimate over.
18.1 : J Unadkat to M Pandey, Sees Manish coming down the track and hence bowls it short and follows him. Cramps him for room as the batter could only hit it down to long on for one.
18.2 : J Unadkat to W Saha, Fuller delivery outside off, Saha works it down to third man. Archer picks up the ball and has a wild throw at the bowler's end who is unaware of this. They sneak another one on overthrow.

19.6 : J Archer to W Saha, A bye to finish things off! Saha goes across and tries to be cheeky as he attempts for a paddle scoop. Doesn't connect but manages to steal a bye as Buttler misses his shy at the striker's end. HYDERABD MANAGE 151/7!
Superb death bowling from Rajasthan has seen them restricting Hyderabad to a moderate total. Jorfra Archer, needs to be credited here as he was absolutely on song at the end while Stokes and Unadkat, too bowled well to give just 31 runs off the final five overs and pick up 4 wickets. Incredible! After electing to bat first, Hyderabad didn't get a good start as they lost Dhawan very early. But Williamson and debutant Hales then shored things up as they kept ticking along well with both getting a
Just when things were going silky and smooth for the visitors, Gowtham came in and broke the stand. Since then, their middle order couldn't come to the fore and that's the issue they have been facing for a while now. The stage was set to get at least 170-plus at one stage but the wheels came off for them. Rajasthan will be extremely pleased with their effort. Gowtham was excellent in the Powerplay to begin with while Archer stole the show at the death. The surface is a bit two-paced and we all k
0.0 : We are back for the chase. Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi are the openers for Rajasthan. The former will be on strike and he will face Sandeep Sharma. Here we go...
0.1 : S Sharma to A Rahane, Starts off with a good length delivery on off, no swing on offer as Rahane pushes it to covers.
0.2 : S Sharma to A Rahane, Length again on off, once again no swing for Sharma. Rahane guides it to point.

2.1 : S Sharma to R Tripathi, A tad short and on off, Rahul cuts it but straight to the man at point.
2.2 : S Sharma to R Tripathi, OUT! Knocks him over! Rahul Tripathi bags another failure and an early wicket for Hyderabad. This is a good line, it is bowled on middle and on a length. Tripathi comes down the track but is done in by the length. He tries to keep it out but the ball sneaks through and hits the top of middle.
Sanju Samson walks out to the middle.
2.3 : S Sharma to S Samson, Takes a step or two ahead and gets a fuller ball on middle, Samson defends it off the front foot.

3.2 : B Thampi to S Samson, SIX! Take that, says Samson! It is short and on middle, Samson stands tall and pulls it over the square leg fence for a biggie. So 10 from the first two balls of Thampi. Pressure on him.

3.6 : B Thampi to S Samson, A single to end! 17 from the over. This is on a length around off, Samson eases it down to long on and he says let me keep strike for the next over skipper.
4.1 : S Sharma to S Samson, Walks around in his crease but Sandeep keeps his discipline and bowls it on the stumps. Samson flicks it to mid-wicket.
4.2 : S Sharma to S Samson, Slower ball, Samson waits for it and works it through square leg for a run.
4.3 : S Sharma to A Rahane, Rahane will feel a boundary goes abegging there as this one is on the pads. He flicks it to short fine leg for a run.
4.4 : S Sharma to S Samson, Another slower ball on middle, Samson works it to mid-wicket.
4.5 : S Sharma to S Samson, Slower ball again on middle, Samson pushes it towards mid on for a quick run.

18.1 : S Kaul to A Rahane, Short of a length delivery outside off, Rahane makes room and looks to split the gap between backward point and short third man but finds Yusuf at the former position. Only a single. This won't help the hosts. They need a boundary.
18.2 : S Kaul to M Lomror, What an effort at the boundary line! Manish Pandey, that was sensational! Fuller delivery, slanting outside off, Lomror tries to muscle it down the ground but mistimes it towards long off. 18.5 : S Kaul to A Rahane, What was Rahane trying to do? He first tries to play the paddle but then sees the line is too wide outside off so he cuts it through point. Shakib comes across to his left in the deep and does well to stop it with his right boot. Good fielding again, two taken.
18.6 : S Kaul to A Rahane, A dot to finish! Awesome from Kaul. He deceives Rahane with the knuckle delivery. All the hosts' skipper could manage is a swing and a miss.
Basil Thampi to bowl the last over. 21 is what is needed. It is Gowtham on strike. Can Thampi keep his cool?

19.5 : B Thampi to K Gowtham, OUT! Straight down the throat of Dhawan! Thampi keeps it nice and full on the stumps, Gowtham tries to go big down the ground but doesn't get enough meat behind the shot. Spoons a simple catch to Dhawan who takes it and the celebrations in the Hyderabad camp begins...
Jofra Archer to face the final ball.
19.6 : B Thampi to J Archer, Basil Thampi has done it for his side! Hyderabad defend another score and they make it three in a row! What a performance. Well done! Ball - Fuller delivery, curling back in, Archer drags it off the inner half towards deep mid-wicket and runs which counts for nothing. HYDERABAD WIN BY 11 RUNS!
Yet another fantastic piece of bowling effort by Hyderabad to defend the total. They planned their defense exceedingly well. Sandeep Sharma set the tone early and Siddarth Kaul capitalized in the middle overs. The latter also picked the key wicket of Sanju Samson to break his blossoming partnership with Ajinkya Rahane. The spinners also played their part in building the pressure. Rashid Khan didn't have the same kind of impact we are used to seeing from him but still, his contribution cannot be
Ajinkya Rahane batted well and batted through but failed to take his side over the line. He never kicked into the top gear which was the need of the hour and the sorry form of their power-hitters, Stokes and Buttler, cost them big time today. Once again the captaincy from Kane Williamson was top notch as he made smart bowling changes and showed proactiveness with his field placements. Courtesy this outstanding win, Hyderabad move to the top of the table.
Kane Williamson is elected for the Man of the Match award. He played a very responsible knock on a demanding pitch and helped his side post a decent enough total on the board. Not to forget his captaincy also. He continues to enjoy a good season.
Done with this game. We now shift our focus to Bengaluru where the home team has lost the toss and will be batting first. See you soon with all the action.
