| An absorbing day of Test cricket! Both teams had their fair share of moments. India started poorly by dropping catches but England also contributed by playing some reckless shots. Once again the lower order came to their rescue. Stokes and Bairstow led the revival with a handy partnership, followed by a couple of more useful stands. |
| Jonny Bairstow batted beautifully but was unfortunate not to get a deserving century. India were hot and cold with the ball today, however they managed to pick wickets at regular intervals. Their fielding though was pretty substandard. England bat deep and would still be aiming to stretch their first innings total to 300. |

| Cricket has to go on though, coming to the game. England won a crucial toss but some tight bowling from India ensured they could not run away with the match. The English were rescued by Jonny Bairstow who hit a gritty 89. India were fairly generous too with their fielding yesterday but they got the job done in the end. England still have two wickets left and will want to add as many as possible since it could be the difference between the two teams. |
| Indians will be happy with their work so far. They will want to wrap things up as soon as possible and get batting since the pitch is showing signs of deterioration. The tourists were bowled out for 283 and would have been disappointed with the way they batted. With the ball though, they began well dismissing Murali Vijay early. Runs have come but it has been tough going for the batsmen. |
| Parthiv Patel though has looked very positive in his approach. He did survive a scare and will look to bat on and make this start count. He has Pujara for company who has looked solid till now. | Been an entertaining day of Test cricket! Plenty of runs were scored and as many as 8 wickets fell today. India wrapped up the England innings early bowling them out for 283. India then began superbly with them being 148 for 2 at one stage. But after Tea, India lost a flurry of wickets. Pujara and Kohli both scored a fifty each but could not convert those into big knocks and allowed England to come back in the game. |
| Poor Karun Nair was sold down the river by the Indian skipper who followed him soon. England would have thought of running through the line-up but out came Ashwin and Jadeja. They stitched an unbeaten 67-run stand to save India from falling apart. Both of them have played their shots and Ashwin in particular has looked at real ease to score yet another fifty. |

| A good session for India. They've managed to score 83 runs in the session for the loss of just one wicket. Ravichandran Ashwin was the only one to depart and that too was a soft dismissal in hindsight. But Jadeja continued the good work and along with Jayant Yadav, stitched an unbeaten 53-run partnership to give the home side a lead of 71 runs. |
| The pitch hasn't offered anything at all and the English bowlers have been rather ineffective. They haven't hit the right areas and when they have, haven't done so consistently enough. Stokes was the only one to scalp a wicket but even he, including others, has been poor. India will look to bat on as much as possible and probably counter-attack post-lunch. They won a vital toss but failed to make it count, scoring just 283 thanks to Bairstow's 89. They then came back with the ball to reduce the hosts to 204/6 but lost the plot again. |
