New Zealand started off well with a 41-run opening partnership but lost both their openers in quick succession. When he was dismissed, New Zealand were six down for the score of 122 on the board. The lower order chipped in with a few runs to push their total close to the 200 mark. New Zealand will be
The hosts will be most pleased with the way the bowlers have executed their plans today. This has been one of the most complete bowling performances we have seen from the Windies in the recent past. The fast bowlers, at the start of the innings, were unable to get wickets but the introduction of spinners towards the end of the first Powerplay completely turned the game in the favor of the West Indies. They kept pegging away at the wickets with Akeal Hosein clearly the pick of the bowlers takin
Yannic Cariah comes up for a chat and he says that it is a great feeling as he worked hard for years to reach here and it feels good. Adds that when he came on to bowl, he tried to express himself and he is grateful that it came off. Says that the wicket will get better and praises Akeal Hosein for the way he bowled. Ends by saying that he is confident that the batters will chase it down and the key is to put pressure on the bowlers from the get-go.
Right then, we shall take a short break and return for West Indies' reply. They have a strong batting lineup but lack consistency and West Indies will hope that they are able to get them over the finish line. New Zealand have gone into the game with just two frontline spinners, unlike their opponents who had three. There is assistance for the bowlers and they will be hoping to put on a disciplined performance. They need early wickets if they are to have a chance in this game. Do join us soon.Â
The visitors have not been able to play out their 50 overs! What a bowling performance from West Indies here. They have absolutely dominated an established batting lineup with two debutants in their bowling ranks. The decision to stack their team heavily with spinners has worked for the Windies. The pitch has done wonders for the slower bowlers as they have stifled New Zealand and restricted them to an under-par score of 190.

Earlier in the game, Nicholas Pooran put New Zealand into bat and that decision didn't seem to be the right one as there was not much happening for the bowlers in the first Powerplay. Then the spinners came on and made an instant impact. New Zealand had contributions right throughout the order but none of them could convert those starts. The Windies spinners and Alzarri Joseph picked up wickets at regular intervals and made sure that the opposition got no momentum in their innings. With just
The Presentation ceremony...
Nicholas Pooran, the captain of West Indies is in for a chat now. Pooran says that he looked at the surface and decided to go with three spinners as it looked dry and they wanted to give the opportunity to the young guys. New Zealand were let down by their batters to be honest but their bowling too wasn't particularly impressive. Trent Boult did give the perfect start under lights with an early wicket but they couldn't build on it. In the end, the visitors did get a few of more wickets but were comprehensively defeated and will now look to bou
