Match over
1.1 : 1.1: Sam Curran to Campbell, FOUR! What a way to start off in Test cricket. A length ball outside off, Campbell just eases this one wide of gully and the ball races to the third man boundary. Windies and John off the mark!
1.6 : 1.6: Sam Curran to Campbell, FOUR! The second of the over. And through the same region. Bowled a tad outside off, Campbell comes ahead and angles this in the gap between gully and point. Runs away to the fence.
3.5 : 3.5: Sam Curran to Campbell, FOUR! Lovely looking shot from Campbell. Doesn't seem to be over-awed by the situation. A short of a length ball outside off this time, John is quick to climb and cut it away stylishly through point for a boundary. Windies flair in that shot.
5.3 : 5.3: Sam Curran to Campbell, FOUR! Too short and it has been dispatched! Campbell picked the length early there and then pulls it over mid-wicket. It races to the fence. JC dealing in boundaries here.
11.2 : 11.2: Ben Stokes to Campbell, FOUR! If you cut, you should cut hard and that is exactly what Campbell did. It was there to be hit, short and outside off, he slashes at it with everything. The ball goes over the leaping point fielder and into the fence.
13.2: Ben Stokes to Campbell, FOUR! Nicely played! Waits for the ball to come to him and then guides it through the gap in the slip cordon. It goes down to the third man fence.
16.2: M Ali to Campbell, FOUR! Swept and swept fine! Campbell this time hits it right off the middle and it races to the square leg fence.
17.1 : 17.1: Ben Stokes to J Campbell, FOUR! Oozing in confidence is the debutant! That has been creamed! Into the 40s is John. Full and outside off, Campbell strokes it through covers and you need not run for those.
17.6 : 17.6: Ben Stokes to K Brathwaite, FOUR! 50 up! Ideal start by the openers. A boundary to bring up the 50-run stand. It is not off the middle though. No gully however so it races to the fence. Full and wide outside off, Brathwaite goes after it, he gets an outside edge and the ball crosses the third man fence.
18.1 : 18.1: M Ali to Campbell, OUT! Plumb in front! The debutant goes 6 shy of a fifty. He was going for his shots and eventually that brings about his downfall as he went for one too many. A full and flighted ball on middle, Campbell goes for the sweep but misses it and gets rapped bang in front of middle. The umpire has no hesitation and raises his finger immediately. The debutant started walking away immediately and with good reason too. It would have been a waste of a review had it been taken as r
20.1: M Ali to Brathwaite, FOUR! Full and flighted outside off, Brathwaite comes ahead and drives this hard through the vacant cover region. No fielder back there and it runs to the fence.
20.5 : 20.5: M Ali to Brathwaite, SIX! Bratwaite seems to have seen enough now. Comes down the track and lofts this over deep mid-wicket. The ball lands just outside the rope. The first maximum of the game. Moves into the 20s does Kraigg.
21.1 : 21.1: Ben Stokes to Hope, FOUR! Elegant and beautiful! A fuller one outside off and Hope stands tall and off drives this right back down the ground wide of mid off. No stopping those, just go pick the ball from outside the fence.
22.2 : 22.2: M Ali to Brathwaite, FOUR! Beautifully flighted and Brathwaite takes the invitation as he has his dancing shoes on. Lifts this wide of mid on and into the fence.
25.2: Ben Stokes to S Hope, FOUR! That is the second time Hope has driven Stokes back down the ground for four. Balance and timing, that was what it was all about. Lovely on the eye.
40.3 : 40.3: J Anderson to Hope, FOUR! That went to the boundary in a jiffy! Short and outside off, Hope stylishly cuts it through point and the ball races away. First boundary after Lunch.
40.5 : 40.5: J Anderson to Hope, FOUR! This is even better than the last one! Class! Not a bad delivery, it was slightly full and on off, Hope leans into it and strokes it through extra cover, it races away. That was a textbook cover drive.
46.4 : 46.4: Ben Stokes to K Brathwaite, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Stokes provides the breakthrough England needed so desperately. End of the 73-run stand and Brathwaite's gritty knock has been cut short. A well-deserved wicket this for Stokes, he has looked threatening throughout and finally gets one. Alters his length this time, he has been slightly short but bowls it just ahead of a length he was bowling. It is around off, pitches and straightens just a touch. Kraigg ends up defending inside the line. T
48.2 : 48.2: Ben Stokes to Bravo, OUT! One brings two! That is exactly the case here for Stokes. What a top delivery this is. It has been pace, pace, pace all this while. This time though he rolls his fingers across the delivery and the length is extremely full, a yorker almost. Bravo is foxed completely. He plays down the wrong line, the ball hits him on the pads. An appeal follows and the umpire raises his finger. Bravo walks back without even thinking of reviewing it as he knew he was a dead duck. H
53.5 : 53.5: Sam Curran to S Hope, FOUR! A very short length ball and it sits up to be hit. Hope gleefully accepts the bad ball and pulls it away for an easy boundary. No pace for Curran to trouble the batsman with a short ball.
57.4 : 57.4: Sam Curran to R Chase, FOUR! Too full on this occasion and Chase is quick to prowl on it. Goes for the expansive cover drive and gets it to the fence as he finds the gap wide of mid off.
60.1 : 60.1: M Ali to Chase, FOUR! Welcome back into the attack, Moeen. This is tossed up very full outside off, the spin is out of contention, hence easy pickings for the batter. He reaches out for it and strokes it through covers. The ball races away.
60.2 : 60.2: M Ali to Chase, FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries! Easy this. A full toss this time on off, Chase once again strokes it through covers to fetch himself another boundary.
61.5 : 61.5: J Anderson to Hope, FOUR! Streaky but effective. On the shorter side, Hope stands tall and tries to guide it through the gully region, he gets an outside edge which races to the third man fence.
62.6 : 62.6: M Ali to Chase, SIX! All the way! Top shot! Stand and deliver! Moeen tosses it up around off, Chase clears the front leg and lofts it over the long on fence. He hit that with the spin so the risk factor was not a lot.
65.2 : 65.2: J Anderson to Hope, OUT! Anderson gets Windies' talisman. From 126 for 1, Windies are now 174 for 4. Hope fails to convert and he trudges off slowly, disgusted with himself is the no. 3 batsman. He probably takes along with him the hopes of the Windies getting to a big first innings score. Anderson on the other hand is a delighted man. He is finally rewarded for continuously bowling in the avenue of apprehension. It is once again bowled there, this one comes back in a little. Hope looks to
68.5 : 68.5: M Ali to Hetmyer, SIX! Jos Buttler won't enjoy watching this but we surely enjoyed this shot. Hetmyer uses his feet for the third time in a row, this time gets to the pitch of it and lofts it over the long on fence. This is how he plays, he stays for longer, we are in for some entertainment.
69.2 : 69.2: J Anderson to Hetmyer, FOUR! Smashed! Overpitched outside off and Hetmyer takes a stride ahead and creams his drive through the covers for a boundary. Buttler won't be liking this at all.
71.3 : 71.3: A Rashid to Chase, FOUR! Finds the gap through the covers this time. Lots of flight on this one and Chase drives it wide to the left of mid off for a good boundary.
71.5 : 71.5: A Rashid to Hetmyer, SIX! That is huge! That's how this guy bats. A flighted ball outside off, Hetmyer comes ahead a bit and lifts it over the long off boundary and deep into the stands. A strike rate of more than 100 for him now.
71.6 : 71.6: A Rashid to S Hetmyer, FOUR! It just gets even better now. Short and wide from Rashid, looked like the one that goes the other way. Hetmyer cuts it very late and towards the vacant deep backward point boundary. James Anderson tries to come around from deep cover but cannot reach the ball even with a dive. Big over for the Windies, 16 off it in the end.
81.5 : 81.5: Sam Curran to Chase, FOUR! Poor bowling and easy pickings for the batsman. Full and on the pads, it did swing back in late but the line was wrong. Chase flicks it to the fine leg fence.
82.5: J Anderson to R Chase, OUT! Chase is out of here! Anderson strikes in his second over with the second new ball. He is a class act this guy. The last one came back in sharply, this one goes away and Chase had no answers to it. The length and line is also immaculate. Around off and just behind the driving length. Chase is half forward as he tries to defend. The ball takes the outside edge and goes at a comfortable height to Joe Root at first slip. He takes it with ease. Chase starts walking
83.3 : 83.3: Sam Curran to Hetmyer, FOUR! A creamy cover drive through the gap wide of the cover fielder. Fuller length ball outside off, Shimron comes ahead and a brilliant shot followed.
83.6 : 83.6: Sam Curran to Hetmyer, FOUR! Dismissed! A length ball on the off stump line, Hetmyer just punches it back down towards long on. No one moved. The ball reaches the fence. Brilliant batting this. The 250 comes up for the hosts with that shot. 10 runs off that over, an expensive one from Curran.
84.6: J Anderson to Dowrich, OUT! In the air... gone! Another one bites the dust and once again, England manage to take two in quick succession. The decision of taking the second new ball is proving to be a master stroke here. The leg cutter from Anderson, it is on middle, it takes off after pitching. Dowrich initially thinks of pulling but then seeing the extra bounce, takes his eyes off the ball. It hits the upper part of the bat and lobs towards the slip cordon. Buttler from third slip runs i
85.2 : 85.2: Ben Stokes to Hetmyer, FOUR! Does not time this one too well but the ball goes wide of the cover fielder and runs away to the fence. The third man fielder cannot come around. It brings up the FIFTY for Hetmyer. His fifth in Test cricket. A great innings so far but he should not throw it away like the guys before him.
86.2: J Anderson to Holder, FOUR! Uppish but a boundary. Holder uses his long reach and then drives it square on the off side. A huge gap there and a boundary results.
86.6 : 86.6: Anderson to Holder, OUT! Anderson is on fire here! The Windies batsman are now falling like nine pins. Four-fer for Jimmy and it is his third with the second new ball. He goes full again around off, Holder looks to drive but then checks his shot, maybe because he wasn't to the pitch of the delivery. Ends up chipping it to the right of Anderson who takes a sharp catch in his followthrough. The Windies have completely lost their way here. England now into the tail.
89.2 : 89.2: Ben Stokes to K Roach, OUT! Stokes strikes now in the last over of the day! A brute of a delivery this one. It is banged in slightly short, takes off after pitching. Roach looks to defend but can't get on top of the bounce. It hits the handle and goes straight into the hands of Root at first slip. His third catch. Roach walks back and with him so do the other players and the umpires as IT IS STUMPS ON DAY 1!
92.4 : 92.4: Anderson to Hetmyer, FOUR! Smashed back over the bowler's head! Stand and deliver stuff from the southpaw. A full length ball just outside off, the typical Windies flair comes out as he lofts it right back over the head of the bowler for a boundary.
95.3 : 95.3: Ben Stokes to Hetmyer, FOUR! Brilliant placement from Hetmyer here. A length ball on off stump, Shimron lifts it over the head of an extra cover present but well wide of long off. Runs into the fence after a couple of bounces.
96.1 : 96.1: J Anderson to S Hetmyer, FOUR! Another lucky one for the southpaw. Bowls this outside off, Hetmyer goes for an expansive cover drive. The ball though takes the outside edge and goes over the head of the slip cordon for a boundary. Windies riding their luck here.
99.6 : 99.6: Ben Stokes to Hetmyer, FOUR! Into the 80s is Hetmyer. However, he would have preferred a single here. This is short again on middle, Hetmyer makes room and then flat-bats it over the bowler's head. Safest area to hit as there is no fielder. A boundary.
100.4 : 100.4: J Anderson to A Joseph, OUT! There it is. That is the breakthrough and also the fifth wicket for Anderson. The 27th time he has done in Tests. A typical Jimmy wicket, bowls this one on a good length outside off and makes it tail away very slightly. Too good for the number 10 batsman who pokes at the ball. The ball goes to Buttler at third slip in a good height. He pouches it easily and England after a frustrating 10 overs have finally broken through. The stand worth 25 has ended.
101.3 : 101.3: Ben Stokes to Hetmyer, OUT! Gone! No hundred for Hetmyer. Caught behind acrobatically by Foakes diving to his left. A fuller length ball on leg and moving away from the lefty, he goes for the full throttle and gives a wild slog. The ball takes the outside edge and it flies to the left of Foakes who takes a lovely catch. Stokes ends with four wickets of his own. WINDIES END ON 289. The last 5 batsmen together have contributed exactly 5 runs from their willows. 3 ducks and the number 11 not
2.6 : 2.6: K Roach to K Jennings, In the air... FOUR! First boundary of the bad but it has come in a fortunate manner. Full and wide outside off, Keaton throws his bat at it, it goes off the outer half uppishly towards the point fielder. He dives full stretch to his left but can't reach it.
7.1 : 7.1: S Gabriel to Jennings, FOUR! Excellent shot! Short and outside off, it bounces at a good height for the batsman. Jennings stands tall and then guides it through point. The ball races away.
8.2 : 8.2: J Holder to Jennings, FOUR! No need to run for those! Jennings is looking really good out there. Jason is guilty of bowling a little too full here, Keaton strokes it through mid off and the ball races away.
8.6 : 8.6: J Holder to Jennings, OUT! The skipper strikes, he draws first blood here. Jennings who looked nice till now perishes. Very good by Holder, he continues to bowl it on a fuller length, this one is slightly outside off. Keaton once again goes for the drive but ends up playing inside the line. The ball takes a fat outside edge and goes into the hands of Hope at gully. Holder is ecstatic as he provides Windies the breakthrough they desperately wanted before the break. Still a few minutes to go,
11.5 : 11.5: K Roach to Burns, OUT! Soft, soft dismissal. Rory Burns has played it on here and Windies have a wicket just after Lunch. Around the wicket to the lefty, Roach delivers this one on a length outside off stump and angles it in slightly. Burns was looking to defend it with soft hands and does not present a full straight bat. The ball bounces a bit more as well and hits the top of the willow before bouncing on to go and hit the top of off stump. Looks gutted, it was the first ball he was facin
12.2 : 12.2: J Holder to Root, FOUR! Off the mark in style! Full and swinging away around off, Root just leans into it and strokes it through covers for a boundary. He did not look to hit it hard there, just let the ball come to him and then just timed it.
13.4 : 13.4: K Roach to Bairstow, FOUR! Goes a little too full this time and Jonny is quick to pounce on that one. Bairstow comes ahead and drives this to the right of mid off for a boundary. Good shot!
13.5 : 13.5: K Roach to J Bairstow, OUT! Played on again! In fact, elbowed on by Bairstow! Roach is on fire here, what ever he ate at Lunch has helped a lot certainly. A scrambled seam delivery from him once more and it moves in a bit after landing. The ball bounces more as well and beats the inside edge and goes on to hit the elbow. It knocks the bottom of off stump and the bails are off. Brilliant start for Windies whereas Jonny is standing wondering what has happened there. England like so often rec
16.2 : 16.2: J Holder to Root, OUT! The big fish is gone too! What a passage of play this is for the hosts. The fast bowlers are turning this game on its head. Joe Root has been caught in front here by his counter-part. A slightly fuller length ball on off and coming in quite a bit, Root is beaten as he plays outside the line and gets rapped on the pads in front of the stumps. A loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger almost immediately. Root goes up to his partner and consults him but then togeth
18.3 : 18.3: J Holder to Buttler, FOUR! A lovely drive from Jos that. Fuller one on off, Buttler clears his front leg and times it superbly past mid off for a boundary.
19.4 : 19.4: K Roach to Stokes, OUT! Umpire's call on the Hawk Eye and Stokes will have to walk back. Half of England is back in the dressing room now. Is this even real? Roach has his third and Windies are right on top here. Bowls the previous three balls on a short length and pushes this one to a good length. Stokes is beaten by pace and swing and gets rapped on the back foot. A loud appeal beckons and the umpire thinks a bit before raising his finger. Stokes will review it. The ball goes on to clip
19.5 : 19.5: Roach to M Ali, OUT! In the air... taken! My colleague did mention, bowl short to Moeen Ali on this pacey wicket and he won't last for long and that is exactly what happened. None of us thought he would depart on the very first ball though. Kemar Roach however, is amidst a brilliant spell. He has four to his name now and England from 35 for 1 are 48 for 6. They are in tatters at the moment. Coming to the ball now - it is a fast short delivery, right on the body of Ali. He tries to nudge it
21.1 : 21.1: K Roach to Buttler, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Another one bites the dust. This time it is the man who has most of the times bailed England out of trouble, Jos Buttler. Fifer for Roach, his 9th in Tests and he is on cloud 9 at the moment. Another brute of a delivery this, shortish and on off, it keeps climbing on the batsman. Buttler pokes at it and gets an outside edge to the keeper. Into the bowling all-rounders now. The visitors still need another 40 runs to avoid the follow on. The way the
21.6 : 21.6: K Roach to Sam Curran, EDGY FOUR! Welcome runs for England, they will take it any which way. Short and outside off, Curran throws his bat at it, it takes the outside edge and goes over the slip cordon for a boundary.
22.2 : 22.2: A Joseph to Curran, FOUR! No, this is not what Windies need. Joseph needs to continue building the pressure, he cannot give away such loose deliveries. It is short and wide outside off, Curran slaps it through covers and the ball races away.
24.2: A Joseph to Foakes, OUT! Joseph now has a wicket to his name! Another top, top nut this one and the last recognized batsman for England is out of here. This is in the corridor of uncertainty. Shapes away a touch. Foakes lunges and tries to block but is done in by the movement. It takes the outside edge and Dowrich behind takes a neat catch diving to his right. 29 more needed to avoid the follow-on, 2 wickets in hand.
26.1 : 26.1: A Joseph to Rashid, FOUR! Stylish flick that! Full and on middle, Rashid uses his wrists and flicks it against the swing and over mid-wicket for a boundary.
26.2 : 26.2: A Joseph to Rashid, FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries! This time through the off side, full and outside off, Rashid has a go at it. He manages to get it behind point and into the fence.
27.3 : 27.3: S Gabriel to Curran, FOUR! Too full, and Curran times is right back past mid off. Once it crosses the fielder in the ring, there is no stopping that one.
29.5 : 29.5: Gabriel to Sam Curran, OUT! No. 9 goes down! An absolute snorter that one. Just too much for Curran. Right on the body of the batsman. Curran takes his eyes off the ball and looks to duck awkwardly, the ball though is too quick and before he gets down, it hits his gloves and lobs towards gully. Hope there runs in and takes it easily. An appeal follows and the umpire raises his finger. Curran starts walking back but he is asked to wait. The umpires want to check if Gabriel is cutting the si
30.1 : 30.1: A Joseph to Rashid, FOUR! Rashid becomes the fourth batsmen to cross double figures. Flicks this full one away over mid-wicket for a boundary.
30.2 : 30.2: A Joseph to A Rashid, OUT! ENGLAND HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 77. That is the lowest total by any team on this ground. Windies lead by 212 runs and have the option of making England come out to bat again. Coming to this ball, it was bowled just outside off on a good length and it shapes away at the last moment to take the outside edge and go to Holder in at second slip. Joseph picks up his second one to finish off the innings. That will also be TEA on Day 2. Incredible bowling, 9 wickets in
0.4 : 0.4: J Anderson to Brathwaite, FOUR! The gift is accepted by KB. Short and wide outside off, cut away by Brathwaite for a boundary. First runs of the second innings for Windies.
1.4: Sam Curran to Brathwaite, FOUR! Lovely shot using the bottom hand. A full, inswinging delivery on middle and it is pushed back down past mid on for a boundary by Brathwaite.
1.6 : 1.6: Sam Curran to K Brathwaite, FOUR! 'Shades of Gordon Greenidge' quips Ian Bishop on air. A short of a length delivery on middle, Brathwaite hops on one leg and flicks it away towards mid-wicket for a boundary. Windies and he are into double figures.
10.1 : 10.1: M Ali to Campbell, SIX! Out of here! What a shot that! Sees the flighted ball, takes his leg out of the way and whacks it over the long on fence for a biggie.
14.2 : 14.2: M Ali to Campbell, FOUR! Swept and swept fine! Goes down on one knee and sweeps it very nicely through square leg for a boundary.
16.5 : 16.5: M Ali to Brathwaite, OUT! Once again Moeen Ali draws first blood! This was plumb in front! Quicker and flatter on off, it turns back in just a touch. Brathwaite goes back and tries to flick. He misses, it hits him on the pads. An appeal follows and the umpire raises his finger. Brathwaite once again walks back after getting a start. England need a few more quickly as the Windies are effectively 264 for 1.
19.2 : 19.2: Ben Stokes to Campbell, OUT! The Drinks break does the trick for England. A very strange dismissal though and now both the openers are back in the hut. A short delivery by Stokes outside off, it pitches and it might have come slow off the surface. Campbell is way too early into his pull shot. It goes off the toe end towards covers where Jennings takes a dolly. Two wickets in quick succession, they need more here.
20.2: M Ali to D Bravo, OUT! Bravo fails in the second innings as well. You just can't keep Stokes out of the game, pockets an easy catch at slip with his bucket hands. A good one with some drift bowled on off stump line, Darren is ahead to defend. Gets a slight edge that carries to Ben at slip. The nightmare return to Test cricket continues for Bravo. England have three quick ones. Can't have enough of saying this, they still need the wickets to keep coming.
20.4 : 20.4: M Ali to Chase, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Two in the over for Ali and Chase bags a duck. This is tossed up outside off, it pitches and goes straight on. Chase defends for the non-existent turn. The ball takes the outside edge and goes into the big hands of Ben Stokes. A good passage of play for England this.
21.2 : 21.2: Ben Stokes to S Hope, OUT! Stokes has made up for him making his team lose a review here. Jennings has taken this at short leg. Hope is the one to go and that is the 17th wicket to fall today. Windies have slipped from 60/1 to 61/5. 4 wickets for 1 run. Unbelievable stuff this. A length ball on off stump, jags in a bit and Hope who was playing outside the line of the ball, tries to adjust but can only get an inside edge that goes onto the pads and then to Jennings at short leg. A very shar
23.5 : 23.5: Ben Stokes to Dowrich, FOUR! Every run is vital here and England will be hurt by this boundary. A short length ball outside off, Dowrich is on his toes as he pulls this away to the deep mid-wicket fence.
23.6 : 23.6: Ben Stokes to Dowrich, FOUR! Two in two! On the pads and easily flicked away to the rope for a boundary to deep square leg. Windies will love the runs that are getting added.
24.1 : 24.1: M Ali to Hetmyer, SIX! Lifted handsomely over long off! That is 14 off the last 3 balls. This one is flighted outside off and Hetmyer doesn't need a second invite to smash this over the fence for a maximum, the first of this innings.
24.4 : 24.4: M Ali to Dowrich, SIX! Another maximum, the second of this over. 4 boundaries in the last 6 balls. Brilliant shot this, stand and deliver stuff from Dowrich. A flatter one outside off, Shane picks it up and deposits it over the long on fence. The lead is nearing 300.
25.1 : 25.1: Ben Stokes to Hetmyer, FOUR! 'Not many do that to Ben Stokes' says Nasser Hussain on air, and he is right. No one treats the all-rounder with that kind of disdain. A fuller length ball on middle bowled with effort and Hetmyer clears his front leg and smashes it back over mid on for a boundary. This is lovely counter-attacking cricket from Windies. The lead is now 300.
32.3 : 32.3: A Rashid to Hetmyer, SIX! Stand and deliver stuff! Right in his arc this one. Full and turning back in. Hetmyer hits it with the turn so the risk is minimum. The connection is outstanding, it sails into the mid-wicket stand. Lead crosses 320 now.
32.6 : 32.6: A Rashid to Hetmyer, FOUR! Poor ball and it has been put away! 13 from the over, expensive start by Rashid. Short and wide outside off, SH slaps it through covers and the ball races away.
35.1 : 35.1: Sam Curran to S Hetmyer, OUT! They have got a wicket! England have broken the 59-run stand. Sam Curran picks up his first of the game. A length ball on middle and slightly shaping away. Hetmyer tries to drive on the up but gets an outside edge and the ball carries to Buttler who takes a good, low catch. This should lift the shoulders of England that were dropping a bit. Windies are effectively 332/6. Can they get one more before Stumps?
35.2 : 35.2: Sam Curran to Holder, FOUR! A gift for Holder on the very first ball. A full toss outside off, it still has to be put away and Holder does exactly that as he guides it through backward point for a boundary.
40.1 : 40.1: J Anderson to Holder, FOUR! Misfield and a boundary! A little but of away movement from the batsman. It is on a fuller length on off, Holder looks to drive but it goes off the outer half towards point. Bairstow there slides and lets it go through. The cover fielder runs behind it, slides but can't stop the boundary.
42.5 : 42.5: J Anderson to Holder, FOUR! In the gap and you need not run for those! Full and on off, Holder just leans into it and strokes it through covers. No stopping those.
44.4 : 44.4: J Anderson to Dowrich, FOUR! EDGY BOUNDARY! Full and around off, it shapes away. Dowrich lunges and tries to defend but it goes off the outer half through the slip cordon and it races to the fence.
45.6 : 45.6: Ben Stokes to Holder, FOUR! Good length delivery on middle and leg, Holder just flicks it fine towards fine leg and the ball races away to the fence. Poor delivery from Stokes to finish off the over.
46.4 : 46.4: J Anderson to Holder, FOUR! Back of a length on middle and leg, Holder flicks it fine on the leg side, wide of Moeen Ali in the deep. The ball races away to the fence.
48.3 : 48.3: M Ali to Holder, FOUR! Tossed up on off, Holder gets his front foot in line and brilliantly drives it through covers for a boundary. Brings up the 50 run stand between these two. They are taking away any slight hope England have from this game.
48.4 : 48.4: M Ali to Holder, FOUR! Two in two. Once again it is tossed up and overpitched around off, Holder drives it again in the same region and gets exactly the same result.
48.5 : 48.5: M Ali to Holder, FOUR!! Three boundaries in three consecutive balls. Jason Holder is taking the attack to the off spinner. Slow and flighted around off, Holder this time lofts it over mid off for a boundary. Can he score 4 in 4?
49.2 : 49.2: Sam Curran to Holder, FOUR! Holder is on the charge here! His fourth boundary in the last 7 balls he has faced. Short and it sits up to be hit. Holder pulls it through backward square leg and it races away.
49.5 : 49.5: Sam Curran to Dowrich, FOUR! Lovely shot! Full and on off, Dowrich leans into it and strokes it through covers. It is in the gap and it races to the fence. Lead crosses 400.
53.3 : 53.3: A Rashid to Holder, SIX! Googly gone wrong and Holder picks it up perfectly. Shorter around off, Jason gets on his back foot and pulls it over mid-wicket. The ball goes sailing into the stands for a maximum.

Short and wide outside off, Holder looks to cut but due to the slowness of the wicket it goes off the toe end. The ball goes to the right of Buttler but since Jos did not see it he sticks his hand to the left. The ball then races to the fence.

They have been watchful and cautious and have only gone after the bad balls.
21.2 : 21.2: K Roach to Burns, Edged and FOUR! Rory Burns is a lucky guy. Roach getting swing once again. Bowls it full and well outside off and it goes away, Burns reaches out, gets a thick edge and it flies between the slip cordon and the gully fielder for a boundary.

27.2 : 27.2: K Roach to Burns, FOUR! That's a dangerous shot. Three slips, along with a gully and to still play that requires one to be brave, to say the least. Outside off, Burns gets a little low and cuts it late right in the gap between the slip cordon and gully. It races away to the fence.
27.6 : 27.6: K Roach to R Burns, FOUR! Ends the over in a fine way. Rory Burns has played that shot a couple of times before and like those two occasions, he's nailed it this time as well. Full and well outside off, it's driven through extra cover for a boundary.
28.5 : 28.5: A Joseph to K Jennings, OUT! Edged and gone! Joseph provides the breakthrough. Seems like a wicket has fallen after ages in this Test. Bowls it full and around off, it moves away late and that does the trick. Jennings has no choice but to play at it and the edge in induced. It flies to the left of Jason Holder at second slip, who leaps to his left and takes a superb catch.
30.4 : 30.4: A Joseph to Bairstow, FOUR! Too strong off his pads. Joseph serves it there and Jonny Bairstow flicks it through square leg. Brathwaite chases after it and attempts to pull it back with a slide, but is unable to. Replays confirm it.
32.3 : 32.3: Joseph to R Burns, FOUR! Flashed away and almost undone! Width on offer outside off, Burns just throws his bat at it and barely clears the leaping short third man fielder for a boundary. Maybe Jason Holder will feel it wise to place another catcher in that position.

38.4 : 38.4: A Joseph to Burns, Edged and FOUR! Oh, boy. Rory Burns has caught a lucky break. He's finding the gap around the slip cordon well. Back of a length around off, the opener hangs his bat out and the ball takes a thick edge. It flies behind and lands just short of Holder at second slip and goes through. If a third slip was there, he'd have been standing ahead and probably even caught that.
39.4: K Roach to Bairstow, FOUR! Too full and quite straight in line, all too easy for Jonny Bairstow. He leans ahead and flicks it neatly past the diving mid-wicket fielder for a boundary.

Gabriel gets his first wicket of the innings.
48.6 : 48.6: S Gabriel to Root, FOUR! Back of a length on middle and leg, Root gets on his back foot and pulls it powerfully along the ground slightly wide of the fielder. Kemar Roach at fine leg misfields it and the ball goes between his legs for a boundary.

57.3: R Chase to Joe Root, OUT! Just what the doctor ordered for Windies. Massive wicket here. Shorter around off, Root tries to cut it but it goes past his outside edge and straight to first slip. Darren Bravo there takes a sharp catch. Root cannot make most of the life he got and he is gutted with himself. He looks up in the sky dejected and walks back. The Windies players are enjoying it and Jason Holder is a happy man. Shannon Gabriel will be the happier man though as his wicket off a no bal

Ben Stokes tries to defend it off his front foot but misreads the spins. It hits him low on the pads. The players appeal and the umpire raises the dreaded finger. Stokes thinks for a bit and goes for the review. The replays show there was no bat involved at it was plumb. Hawk Eye shows all three reds and England lose their review along with half the side. They still need 4
70.5: R Chase to M Ali, OUT! Moeen is a goner. Another duck for Ali. Gets a pair in this match. Short on off, the southpaw tries to cut it but gets an outside edge and the ball goes to Jason Holder at second slip. 72.1 : 72.1: R Chase to Buttler, OUT! What a catch! Blinder! Windies have just sprung awake post Lunch and victory is not far away from them. Also, a 5-wicket haul for Roston Chase! Floats this on off, Buttler looks to flick it away but gets it off the bottom half of the bat. John at short mid-wicket dives full length to his left and takes a stunner. Jos cannot believe it and Chase picks up the ball and acknowledges the crowd. How long more before we get a result?

He is not in balance and the ball goes to short leg. Hetmyer there does extremely well to hold onto that one. It is one of the most difficult field positions to field and the young man is doing a great job.

76.1 : 76.1: R Chase to Rashid, OUT! Bye, bye Adil. Tossed up on middle and off, Rashid gets on one knee and tries to slog it over the filder at deep mid-wicket.
