0.0 : Beaten black and blue by a team in maroon. Unexpected. Totally unbelievable. It was a complacent England in the first Test against a pumped up Windies. Expect none of the complacency here. Do the hosts have it in them to produce another great effort? Hello and a warm welcome to the second Test between Windies and England in Antigua.
WEATHER REPORT - It rained a couple of hours ago but thankfully, the rain has disappeared for now. There are some overcast skies which might be a bit of concern though...
PITCH REPORT - Daren Ganga informs that usually pace dominates proceedings in Antigua with plenty of seam and swing. Observes an even layer of green and dry grass, along with some moisture, which should make batting challenging on Day 1. However, adds that as the game goes ahead, batting will become easier. Tells that 340 is the average first innings score at this venue.
TOSS - Time for the spin of the coin. Holder flips it, Root calls Tails but it is a Head. WINDIES ELECT TO BOWL FIRST.
Windies skipper, Jason Holder, says that there seems to be a bit of moisture in the pitch and wants to make the most use of it, hence the decision. Hopes that his fast bowlers get early wickets, looking at the grass on the surface. Informs that the team has had good rest along with two solid days of preparation and is pumped up for this one. On the consistency task of producing a similar effort, Jason stresses that the team has a clear mind and knows what needs to be done.
England captain, Joe Root, says that he would have bowled first as well but now sees it as a challenge to put a good total on the board. Informs that Broad comes in for Rashid and Joe Denly makes his debut in place of Keaton Jennings. Agrees that a team looks at continuity in its playing XI but feels that Denly has done reasonably back home in domestic cricket and deserves this chance. On Adil Rashid missing out, Root says that the decision was made looking at the pitch which looks a seamer-frie
The national anthems are done and dusted and the Windies get into a huddle. The sun is slowly bursting through the clouds. Out come Rory Burns and the debutant, Joe Denly. Kemar Roach, the wrecker-in-chief in that first innings of the first Test, has the new cherry in his hand. Burns to face. 'Play, gentlemen!' says umpire Chris Gaffaney. Time to follow the instructions then.
0.1 : K Roach to Burns, Almost a wicket first ball! Ah... indecision first up. The first innings of the first Test - Burns looks to defend, then leave. Bottom edge onto the stumps. First innings, second Test - Burns looks to defend, then leave. The ball takes the inside edge but misses the stumps. So, so close...
0.2 : K Roach to Burns, Landed outside off, left alone.
0.3 : K Roach to Burns, A bit wider outside off, let through again.
0.4 : K Roach to Burns, The batsman shoulders arms to let that one through.
0.5 : K Roach to Burns, Wider outside off, almost outside the pitch, easier leave.
0.6 : K Roach to Burns, The batsman shoulders arms to let that one through again to end a maiden over. But a harmless one.

1.6 : S Gabriel to Denly, Outside off, quietly left alone.
Oh dear... SHANNON GABRIEL IS WALKING OFF THE FIELD. Hamstring issue? He is seen stretching his right leg. Not good...
2.1 : K Roach to Burns, On a length outside off, solidly defended.
2.2 : K Roach to Burns, Miles outside off, let through.
2.3 : K Roach to Burns, The batsman chooses to leave the ball outside his off stump again.

3.5 : S Gabriel to Denly, Good length delivery on off, Denly defends off the back foot.

4.2 : K Roach to Burns, FOUR! First runs for England after four consecutive maidens. Full on middle and leg, Burns flicks it through square leg for a boundary.
4.3 : K Roach to Burns, The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
4.4 : K Roach to R Burns, OUT! Rory Burns departs! The Windies strike early again. Good length delivery outside off, Burns looks to defend but gets beaten by the away movement on this one. He gets an outside edge towards second slip where Jason Holder dives to his right and takes a good catch. Early trouble then...
Jonny Bairstow is the new batsman in.
4.5 : K Roach to J Bairstow, Driven towards the mid-on region. They pick up a single.
4.6 : K Roach to Denly, APPEAL FOR LBW! NOT OUT! Good length delivery on middle and leg, Denly looks to defend but misses it and gets hit on the pads. The bowler appeals but the umpire shakes his head. Windies go for the review. Impact is line and it is umpire's call. The hosts retain their review.
5.1 : S Gabriel to Bairstow, Played through mid-wicket by the batsman. Good running between the wickets to pick up three runs.
5.2 : S Gabriel to Denly, Good length delivery outside off, rising off the deck, Joe lets it go.

6.6 : K Roach to Bairstow, Another solid defense to end the over.
7.1 : S Gabriel to Denly, On a length around off, Denly looks to defend and does so with a hop.
7.2 : S Gabriel to Denly, Two-paced nature of the wicket so far. Gabriel lands it on a length, Joe initially comes forward but then suddenly the ball rises. He has to adjust and tries to fend it but almost edges it to second slip. Plays it with soft hands, hence the ball does not carry.
7.3 : S Gabriel to Denly, Outside off, fuller in length, left alone.
7.4 : S Gabriel to Denly, Lovely shot. Full and wide outside off, JD gets a good stride forward, meets the pitch of the ball and drives it through the covers. The damp outfield stops the ball before it can meet the ropes and the batsmen cross each other thrice in that time.
7.5 : S Gabriel to Bairstow, A full toss outside off, swinging away late, a surprised Denly pushes at it late and misses.
7.6 : S Gabriel to Bairstow, Full and outside off, Bairstow gets a big stride forward and then shoulders arms.

8.6 : K Roach to Bairstow, Landed outside off, solidly defended.
Alzarri Joseph is the first bowling change.
And has Alzarri struck first ball? There is a nick but the umpires want to check whether he has cut the sidelines...
9.1 : A Joseph to Denly, OUT! The ball is legal! The debutant has to go! Unbelievable. Totally unbelievable. A loosener, then a loose shot. A wicket. Short and wide outside off. There to be punished and Denly does so. But he plays that with his feet stuck in mud. Hence, the game decides that he can stick no longer in the middle. An outside edge is generated and Shane Dowrich does the rest. The umpire wants to check whether Joseph is cutting the sidelines but replays show that he is fine.
0.0 : Skipper Joe Root arrives at number 4, replacing his namesake.
9.2 : A Joseph to Root, Outside off, left alone.
9.3 : A Joseph to Root, WAS THAT A DROP? Nope. Just short. But some real nerves there... Short and wide outside off, Root flashes hard and cuts it straight to Roston Chase at point! Luckily for him, the ball dips onto the fielder and lands just short. A single taken, courtesy the misfield.
9.4 : A Joseph to Bairstow, The ball is too wide on the off side for the batsman to make any contact.
9.5 : A Joseph to Bairstow, The batsman lets the ball go outside his off stump again.
9.6 : A Joseph to Bairstow, Good carry. A fraction short outside off, Bairstow takes his bat out of harm's way. Shane Dowrich takes it near his face.
Double bowling change. The star of the previous game. The best all-rounder currently. Here he is - Jason Omar Holder.
10.1 : J Holder to Root, Length delivery outside off, left alone.
10.2 : J Holder to Root, Full and outside off, Root comes forward to defend but the ball moves away off the wobbly seam and beats the outside edge.
10.3 : J Holder to Root, Tries to counter the swing by walking down the wicket and pushes it towards mid off.
10.4 : J Holder to Root, Full and outside off, swinging away, this time Joe lets it be.
10.5 : J Holder to Root, A bit wide of the crease on that occasion, landed on a length outside off, the captain lets it through again.
10.6 : J Holder to Root, On a length around off, pushed towards mid on.
11.1 : A Joseph to Bairstow, Full and outside off, left alone.
11.2 : A Joseph to Bairstow, Back of a length outside off, punched towards cover.
11.3 : A Joseph to Bairstow, Landed outside off, a touch wide, Bairstow takes his bat away from the line.
11.4 : A Joseph to Bairstow, A length ball outside off, Jonny has a waft but misses.
11.5 : A Joseph to Bairstow, Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
11.6 : A Joseph to Bairstow, Nicely punched down the ground. Full and outside off, JB covers the swing nicely and pushes it past the bowler who is late to get down in time. The ball scurries through mid off and by the time mid on can get across, two runs are taken.
DRINKS BREAK. 2 wickets taken after winning the toss, within 10 overs. Clearly, the Windies are on a hot streak right now, taking confidence and momentum from the previous win. They are not giving too many wide balls and England are searching for breathing space.
12.1 : J Holder to Root, On a good length outside off, watchfully defended.
12.2 : J Holder to Root, Landed outside off, left alone.
12.3 : J Holder to Root, The batsman lets the ball go outside his off stump again.
12.4 : J Holder to Root, One more leave outside off.
12.5 : J Holder to Root, Landed outside off, Root chases it but misses.
12.6 : J Holder to Root, FOUR! In the air... but in the gap. Holder is frustrated. He bowls the teaser, lands it on a length outside off, keeps it a touch wide and invites the drive. His counterpart obliges and gets a thick outside edge. It flies behind point and the ball races away to the fence.
13.1 : A Joseph to Bairstow, Landed outside off, left alone.
13.2 : A Joseph to Bairstow, FOUR! Landed outside off, Bairstow dabs it late to third man and gets a boundary!

14.4 : J Holder to Bairstow, One more leave outside off.
14.5 : J Holder to Bairstow, Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
14.6 : J Holder to Bairstow, Full and outside off, Bairstow drives it straight back as an arrow. So straight that it hits the stumps at the other end. Robbed off a boundary.
15.1 : A Joseph to Root, OUT! Gloved, in the air... caught, no dropped and then taken by someone else! Brilliant teamwork! Root is gone! The horror period continues to be even woeful for the visitors with their skipper dismissed. This is a real brute from Alzarri. Extraordinary dismissal. On a length just short of full, Root comes forward to defend but the ball suddenly bounces, kicking off and catches Root by surprise. He tries to fend it away but poor bloke, cannot do anything. The ball takes t
0.0 : Jos Buttler walks in at number 5, replacing his skipper.

15.3 : A Joseph to Buttler, This one rears off a length again, Buttler looks to defend but gets a bit of an inside edge onto the pitch.
15.4 : A Joseph to Buttler, Outside off, a touch wide, easier job for the batsman - let go.
15.5 : A Joseph to Buttler, The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
15.6 : A Joseph to Buttler, Landed outside off, left alone. A wicket maiden for Alzarri. His figures read 4-1-9-2.
16.1 : J Holder to Bairstow, On a good length around off, kicks up, Bairstow rises with the bounce and fends it to the off side.
16.2 : J Holder to Bairstow, FOUR! Cracking shot. Full and outside off, Bairstow comes forward and drives it powerfully, aerially, but wide of short extra cover, through mid off.
16.3 : J Holder to Bairstow, FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries. Short and wide outside off, Bairstow cuts this uppishly, wide of a diving point fielder and gets successive boundaries.
16.4 : J Holder to Bairstow, Landed outside off, swinging in late, on a fuller length, left alone.
16.5 : J Holder to Bairstow, Shorter and wider outside off, let through.

17.4 : A Joseph to J Bairstow, FOUR! Short and wide outside off, Bairstow cuts it through point and gets consecutive boundaries!
17.5 : A Joseph to Bairstow, The batsman defends it from within the crease.
17.6 : A Joseph to Bairstow, Outside off, left alone.
18.1 : J Holder to Buttler, Full and outside off, Buttler walks into the shot and pushes it towards mid off.
18.2 : J Holder to Buttler, The batsman shoulders arms to let that one through.
18.3 : J Holder to Buttler, One more leave outside off.
18.4 : J Holder to Buttler, On a length outside off, watchfully defended.
18.5 : J Holder to Buttler, Outside off, on a length, Jos looks to defend but the ball curls away after pitching and beats him.
18.6 : J Holder to Buttler, OUT! Edged and taken! Holder has his first. A bit of a procession in the middle now. A length ball outside off, Buttler walks down the track to defend but the ball moves away after pitching, takes the outside edge and goes straight to a waiting John Campbell at second slip. Movement, bounce and pace are doing England in here.

20.5 : J Holder to Bairstow, Full and outside off, swinging away, watchfully let go.
20.6 : J Holder to Bairstow, SIX! Ho ho ho! Boy, we are in for some fun. Full and wide outside off, Bairstow plants his front foot forward and treats this as a passage in white-ball cricket. Dispatches it with brute disdain over extra cover!
21.1 : S Gabriel to Stokes, Oops... that is a surprise. A high full toss from Gabriel, Stokes picks it late and somehow works it through square leg for a single.
21.2 : S Gabriel to Bairstow, A short ball now, Bairstow sways away.
21.3 : S Gabriel to Bairstow, FOUR! Off the edge but this is very good batting. Short and outside off, Bairstow flashes hard and gets a thick outside edge. However, because of the hard hands, the edge flies over the second slip fielder to the third man.
21.4 : S Gabriel to J Bairstow, FOUR! BEAUTY! Full and outside off, Bairstow reaches out and drives it through the covers for consecutive boundaries!
21.5 : S Gabriel to Bairstow, Landed outside off, left alone.

23.5 : S Gabriel to Stokes, A terrific yorker, around middle, watchfully dug out.
23.6 : S Gabriel to Stokes, Fuller in length, swinging down, Stokes falls over in his attempt to flick but misses. Is hit on the pads and someone cries for LBW from behind but it was missing leg. THAT WILL BE LUNCH ON THE OPENING DAY.
Wow. What an opening session of Test cricket. Root gone. Buttler gone. Bairstow attacks single-handedly. On a green pitch which has offered plenty of bounce, swing and movement, only the Yorkshire lad has stood tall.
The bowling has been good but could have been better. Roach and Joseph have been accurate and deadly with pace but Gabriel and Holder have let the pressure slip with some inconsistent bowling. Just imagine. 4 wickets in the span of 19 overs. A bit more incisiveness and England could have been 6 or 7 down.
One would expect the pitch to settle down a bit after the break and run-scoring to get a bit easier. Do England have still something left in the tank? Moeen, Foakes and Curran to follow. Maybe, the visitors can check out a dvd, if available of a certain Test match. A certain Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow were batting on a tough pitch in Cape Town against a terrific South African attack in January 2016. They joined forces at 223/5 and were separated when the score read 622. Not a bad time to get
24.1 : K Roach to Bairstow, Full and outside off, left alone.
0.0 : Has Roach struck first over after Lunch? He reckons that he has got Bairstow plumb in front. Holder takes the review...
24.2 : K Roach to Bairstow, OUT! Plumb LBW is Bairstow and he has to go! What a start after Lunch. Full and straight, Jonny looks to flick but misses and is hit right in front. Roach appeals, goes down on his haunches but umpire Gaffaney calmly shakes his head. Roach is confident and eggs his captain on to take the review. There is a big discussion and almost the 15 seconds are about to get over when Holder signals the 'T'. Hawk Eye justifies that call. Big blow. Body blow. Half the side is gone.
Moeen Ali walks in at number 7, replacing Bairstow.
24.3 : K Roach to Ali, Full and around off, watchfully defended.
24.4 : K Roach to Ali, Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.

24.6 : K Roach to Ali, WIDE. This is outside the pitch, fuller in length, Moeen lets it go.
K Roach to Ali, Full and outside off, driven through mid off for a couple.
Shannon Gabriel into the attack.
25.1 : S Gabriel to Stokes, Full and outside off, driven towards mid off.
25.2 : S Gabriel to Stokes, That is another brute. On a good length around middle, Stokes looks to defend but the ball kicks off and hits him on the front glove. Ben tries to take his glove off the bat but is too late. The ball flies towards square leg but there is no one to catch it! Stokes is not happy at all.
25.3 : S Gabriel to Stokes, FOUR! Who remembers the previous ball? Full and around off, Stokes drives it straight back down the ground and gets a boundary!
25.4 : S Gabriel to Stokes, The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. They pick up a single.

27.5 : S Gabriel to Stokes, Bouncer! The batsman ducks under the bouncer at the last moment.
27.6 : S Gabriel to Stokes, OUT! Caught behind! Now then. Now then. The big Ben is gone. Excellent bowling from Gabriel. He has been at Stokes, both verbally and with the ball and eventually gets his man. A couple of overs ago, he hit Stokes on the glove. Then, he beat him by pace with a full ball in this over. Then followed it up with a bounce, pegging him back. And finally, gets a length ball, outside off, induces a flat-footed waft and voila! Stokes is gone! 93/6 now...

28.6 : K Roach to Ali, On a length outside off, Moeen has a loose flash and misses.
29.1 : S Gabriel to Foakes, FOUR! Who has to stop it? You or me? You go. No, you go! What a shot in the first place. A short ball, from Gabriel, Foakes pulls it cleanly all along the ground behind square leg. Now comes the fun. There is fine leg and there is square leg too. One looks to his left and finds his mate. The other looks to his right and stares at him. Without any dialogue, in the eyes, they are asking questions to one another as to who has to run. Meanwhile, the ball runs to the fence.
29.2 : Gabriel to Foakes, A yorker to follow that up, nicely dug out.
29.3 : S Gabriel to Foakes, Works it through mid-wicket for a single.

DRINKS BREAK. The battle continues. England are made to work for each and every run. When Bairstow was going well before Lunch, it seemed there was a counter-attack on offer but with both he and Stokes gone, it has become an attritonal game once more. Runs are a premium at this stage. Windies will believe they can close this innings before Tea. But can they?
36.1 : J Holder to Ali, Full and outside off, way too wide, left alone.
36.2 : J Holder to Ali, A good short ball, around middle, Moeen rises with the bounce and then sways away, keeping his hands inside the line.

36.4 : J Holder to Ali, Another loosener, left alone.
36.5 : J Holder to Ali, FOUR! BRILLIANT! What a shot to break the string of 20 dots. Full and around middle and off, Moeen is squared up a touch but at the last moment, adjusts well to push it back to where it came from. Through mid off and to the fence.

Roston Chase is back on. 1-1-0-0 so far.

38.5 : R Chase to Foakes, Full and around off, watchfully defended.

39.4 : A Joseph to Ali, Outside off, let through.

The Foakes-Moeen stand has summed up England's true character. Both gutsed it out when Bairstow and Stokes fell in quick succession and then, after Drinks, started to tee off. 33 runs came in 12 overs in the first hour after Lunch - 61 have come since then in the next 15.
The pitch seems to have eased out and the Windies are not getting the help that they got in the morning. But they will believe that they have done the bulk of the job in that opening session, demolishing the top order. England still have some batting left and they will hope that they last this day and given that 39 overs are left, try and get close to 270-280. Windies, on the other hand, will aim to dislodge this partnership and start piling the pressure on again. Join us back at 3 pm local (190

Yawn... 39 overs left. A lonnngggggggggggggggggg session awaits us. It was Windies in the morning, England in the latter half of the afternoon. Who will have the final honours?
The players return onto the field. Kemar Roach to start off the final session to Moeen. Here we go...

52.2 : S Gabriel to Foakes, Outside off, Ben looks to tuck it to the leg side but the ball jags back in, takes the inside edge and hits him on the thighs.
52.3 : S Gabriel to Foakes, This time he connects with the flick shot. Gets across, waits for the ball to come to him and works it around the corner, towards fine leg, for a single. The stand is worth 80 now.

55.2 : K Roach to Ali, Landed outside off, on a length, shouldered arms to.
55.3 : K Roach to Ali, OUT! In the air, in the air, in the air and taken! Windies have their 7th and Roach has his third. Moeen is gone. Just when we felt that he is ready to get to that century, he falls. This has got nothing to do with the pitch. It has got nothing to do with the swing. It has got nothing to do with the seam movement. This is just pure brainy bowling from Roach. He bowls it full and Moeen instantly goes for the flick. But then, Roach cunningly changes his pace and the timing of
Sam Curran walks in at number 9, replacing Moeen.

57.1 : K Roach to Curran, OUCH. That has hurt. Roach bangs it on a length and Curran looks to defend but the ball skids through and pings him on the gloves. He immediately wrings them in pain as he crosses across to the other end, with the ball rolling towards square leg.

59.1 : K Roach to Curran, Landed outside off, left alone.
59.2 : K Roach to Sam Curran, OUT! Gloved to slip! Curran goes. Just before this over, he popped in a couple of painkillers. The blow he received on the gloves a couple of overs ago, off Gabriel, has made him highly uncomfortable. Roach lands this on a good length, makes it to nip back in, generates extra bounce and hits Curran hard on the glove as he looks to defend. The ball flies to third slip where substitute Shamarh Brooks takes it easily.

60.5 : S Gabriel to Anderson, Around off, solidly defended.
60.6 : Gabriel to Anderson, OUT! BOWLED! Cracking yorker. Anderson backs away a mile down the leg side, aiming to go off side and Gabriel promptly fires in a yorker, right at the base of the stumps. Kaboom. Jimmy misses, Shannon hits. ENGLAND BOWLED OUT FOR 187!
The hosts have done it again. Yet another sensational bowling performance. Vindicating Holder's call to bowl first on a green track, they have dismantled the English under 200, in a touch over 60 overs.
Swing, lateral movement, bounce, low bounce, extra bounce - this pitch had everything. The Windies fast bowlers tore away at the English top order and had them 55/4. Bairstow's counter-attack kept England afloat but then quick wickets after Lunch pegged them back again. Moeen and Foakes gave some respect to the total but as was in the first case, the break at Tea did the damage.
Only four batsmen managed double figures with just 3 facing more than 30 balls. The English were not allowed to settle at all and one cannot fault them for getting dismissed cheaply. Not many bad shots and majority of the dismissals fell to rippers.
Often, in a Test, opening batsmen set the tone. Same goes for the bowling. Here, the opening bowlers set the tone. Roach and Gabriel came out firing on all cylinders and this Windies team looks totally different with these two roaring. Joint figures of 30-10-75-7 and that is almost three quarters of the opposition. Joseph and Holder did decently well too.
A heavy roller has been asked for by Jason Holder. This pitch has plenty of spice. Can the England bowlers make 187 look like 350? Back they come onto the field...

10.4 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, London-looking, Tokyo-turning. Such was the case of Brathwaite. A length ball around off, Kraigg walks down the track, looks to flick but is squared all ends up. Gets a leading edge through point. Two runs taken.
10.5 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Around off, defended back to the bowler.
10.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On a length, slightly wide outside off, left alone again. For a second, it seemed like Jimmy rolled over his ankle but he is fine. What happened was - hit strapping of the boot around the ankle had come off.
11.1 : S Broad to Campbell, Around the wicket, outside off, pushed towards cover for a single.
11.2 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
11.3 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Full and just outside off, watchfully pushed back to the bowler.
11.4 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Full and just outside off, stays low, pushed towards mid on.
11.5 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Oh my my... this one keeps low as well but the main issue was plenty of movement. The ball was landed on a length outside off and Brathwaite stayed back to defend. But the ball seamed in a long way, went past the inside edge and moved further in. Excellent take by Jonny Bairstow.
11.6 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Wide outside off, let through. Some chirping between Broad and Brathwaite.
First change of the innings. Ben Stokes called upon.
12.1 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Full and down the leg side, Campbell misses his flick and is hit flush on the pads. Stokes starts to appeal but then realizes that it has pitched a mile outside leg. The ball deflects behind off the pads and Bairstow dives to his right but half-stops it. A single taken, leg bye signalled.
12.2 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Outside off, left alone.
12.3 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Fuller in length, pretty wide to be played, let through again.
12.4 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, The ball is too wide on the off side for the batsman to make any contact.
12.5 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Full and outside off, nice outswing, but too wide to be played at again.
12.6 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Again, a fraction wide outside off, short in length, left alone.
13.1 : S Broad to Campbell, Full and outside off, left alone.
13.2 : S Broad to Campbell, Outside off, Campbell comes forward and pushes it towards point.
13.3 : S Broad to Campbell, Good shot, good stop. Full and outside off, John drives sweetly through the covers but Moeen Ali at short extra cover quickly gets across to his left and slides to prevent any runs.
13.4 : S Broad to Campbell, On a length, just outside off, JC hangs his bat outside off and almost nicks it behind.
13.5 : S Broad to Campbell, Landed outside off, Campbell thinks about the pull, looking at the length but then bails out.
13.6 : S Broad to Campbell, Well played, getting on top of the bounce and then punching it towards cover for a single.
It should have been Stumps by now but because there are overs left in the day, we are into the extra half hour. We are plenty of overs short, as many as 13. How many will we get in these dying moments of the day?
14.1 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, On a length around middle, curving down, Campbell misses his tuck and is hit on the pads.
14.2 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, YES, NO. They get there eventually. Full and down the leg side, John misses his tuck and the ball goes off the inside edge onto his pads towards square leg. First Campbell says yes because he is confident that his flick shot will get him runs through mid-wicket. But then, because of the inside edge, he is not sure where the ball is. Hence, the no. But Brathwaite is watching the ball and observes that the fielder at gully is a bit too far. Calls his partner through.
14.3 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Outside off, Kraigg plays inside the line and gets beaten.
14.4 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, The batsman chooses to leave the ball outside his off stump.
14.5 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, One more leave outside off.
14.6 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Good shape for Ben Stokes, making the ball talk but the line has been too wide outside off. Same case here as well.
Sam Curran to bowl now.
15.1 : Sam Curran to Campbell, That is a ripper first ball! Bowls this on a length, does Curran, just outside off, generates some puff of dust and then gets the ball to straighten. Campbell looking to defend, is squared up. Beaten on the inside.
15.2 : Sam Curran to Campbell, Slips this down the leg side, probably trying to curve it from there into the stumps but goes astray.
15.3 : Sam Curran to Campbell, On middle and leg, helped through mid-wicket for a single.
15.4 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Outside off, left alone.
15.5 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Landed around off, swinging in, pushed towards cover.
15.6 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Full and outside off, swinging in, Kraigg looks to drive but is beaten. Decent start for Sam Curran.
16.1 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Wrong line again. Full and swinging nicely. But outside leg. Campbell misses his flick and poor Bairstow has to fly to his right to stop that.
16.2 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Much better. This is in line of the stumps, swings back in, John looks to defend but gets a thick inside edge onto his pads.
16.3 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, The batsman has played it to the point region.
16.4 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Outside off, pushed towards point.
16.5 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Landed outside off, left alone.
16.6 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Oops! Where is the ball? Where is the ball? Ouch! My back! Poor old Joe Denly. He has his glasses but they are perched on top of his cap. No wonder he could not see the ball with the sun directly in his eyes. Outside off, Campbell pushes it towards gully. Denly initially comes forward but then loses sight of the ball. Turns his back and is hit. Limps a touch.
17.1 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Around off, defended from the crease.
0.0 : Is that out? Curran has bowled a big booming inswinger and trapped Brathwaite on the pads. He reckons he has the first wicket and Root signals for the review.
17.2 : Curran to Brathwaite, Does not matter where it is pitching. Does not matter where it is hitting. Does not matter where it is heading. BECAUSE SAM CURRAN HAS BOWLED A NO BALL! In a way, he has saved a review for Joe Root. Because he overstepped, the third umpire did not bother to look further. It was a lovely inswinger, pitched in line of the stumps and curling back in. Brathwaite was caught in the crease, falling over, trying to flick and was hit on the pads. Curran appealed but umpire Dha
Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Around off, pushed towards point.
17.3 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Wide down the leg side, No trouble at all for the batsman.
17.4 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Outside off, left alone.
17.5 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, The batsman defends it from within the crease.
17.6 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Another back foot defense.
18.1 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Oh dear... a short ball outside off, Campbell goes for the hook, with his eyes closed. Very high. Definitely not the time to play this stroke.
18.2 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Outside off, watchfully left alone this time.
18.3 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Full and outside off, pushed towards gully.
18.4 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Down the leg side, tickled through square leg for a single.
18.5 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, A fine yorker, around middle, watchfully dug out.
18.6 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Another fine yorker. This is outside off, Kraigg looks to dig it out but the ball goes off the outside edge. Lands just short of second slip.
19.1 : Sam Curran to Campbell, Full and down the leg side, Campbell tries to work it to the leg side but misses and is hit on the pads.
19.2 : Curran to Campbell, A lovely nut. Pitched in line of the stumps, straightening a touch, John misses his flick again and is hit on the pads. Probably not doing enough.
19.3 : Sam Curran to J Campbell, Tucks it towards fine leg and gives his partner the chance to see off the day.
19.4 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, LBW shout but not out. Pitched outside leg. Brathwaite had got a long way across to flick but missed his shot. Was hit on the pads but umpire Dharmasena said no. A leg bye taken to square leg.
19.5 : Sam Curran to Campbell, Outside off, pushed towards point.
19.6 : Sam Curran to Campbell, Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
We will have one more over...
20.1 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Full and outside off, pushed through mid-wicket for a couple.
20.2 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, A growl from Ben Stokes. Bowls it too wide outside off, easily left alone.
20.3 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Fires it in line of the stumps, Brathwaite gets across to flick and just about gets his bat down to push towards short mid-wicket.
A man under the lid now. Keaton Jennings it will be, substitute for Ben Foakes, at short leg.
20.4 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Straightaway comes into play. Around middle, Kraigg blocks it straight to Jennings at short leg.
20.5 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Darts it in off the seam, all effort from Stokes but KB calmly tucks it through square leg for a single.
A deep fine leg, a deep square leg and a mid on in place now. No mid off. What is the length going to be? Short, or full?
20.6 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Nothing. A double bluff from Root and Stokes. The ball is on a length outside off, angling in, Campbell hops across and shoulders arms. STUMPS ON DAY 1, WINDIES TRAIL BY 157!
That excellent last session caps off a spectacular opening day of cricket for the Windies. The two openers were watchful in defense and did not give too many things, though one might argue that Campbell was just an inch away from edging one to the cordon behind. England gave it their all, they would have been looking to rip the top order apart but they struggled with their lines and did not get much assistance from the pitch either.
Earlier in the day, after electing to bowl, Roach and Gabriel ran through the England batting line-up to bowl them out for 187 in 61 overs. Only four batsmen managed to cross double figures and that is a testimony to the tight and consistent bowling by the home side. The pitch had grass and they made the most of that and it has now settled down considerably.
Lost the toss, lost the match? Well, too early to say now but if Windies can replicate what they did in the second innings of the first Test, 2-0 could well be on the cards. On the flip side, if the England bowlers hit their straps early on Day 2 morning, we could be in line for a one-inning shootout. Join us at 10 am local (1400 GMT) for all the action. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
... DAY 2, SESSION 1 ...
What has happened to the Windies? What has happened to England? Are the talks and questions around the town. To produce a magnificent effort in one game is one thing. To replicate that in another match is totally different. Windies have surprised many a team in the past for that one-odd game. But here, they have had England in a soup twice in a row. Today could be a decisive one. Can they stamp their authority by batting the whole day and take the game away from the visitors? Hello and a warm w
It was the Roach and Gabriel show yesterday, as they shared 7 wickets between them. They did not allow the batsmen to settle and kept on coming hard. Here they are, having a chat with Daren Ganga.
Kemar Roach says that it was a good performance from the entire team. Adds that it puts the unit in a good stead and now wants his batsmen to put some runs on the board. Feels that the wicket still has something in it and will do something or the other all day, if the bowlers are consistent. Stresses that the first hour is crucial and wants the openers to see off the first hour. Adds that if they get a good first innings lead, they can win this Test match as well.
Shannon Gabriel says that he and Roach have been playing together for quite a while so understand each other pretty well. Admits that he did not start well but understood that as they day will wear on, he will get better and just concentrated on supporting Roach. On displaying aggression, Gabriel replies that he finds that funny and only focusses on bowling consistently in the right areas. On his hamstring concern, Shannon brushes it off, saying that he was just feeling a bit uncomfortable.
WEATHER - The conditions are nice and sunny, with a breeze blowing across to help the players. No forecast of rain as of now.
PITCH REPORT - Daren Ganga and Nasser Hussain observe the pitch and see plenty of grass on the surface. Both reckon that what happened yesterday can happen today as well, with the ball deviating off the grass and the cracks. But, the moisture which was there on Thursday morning, may not be as prolific today.
The players slowly make their way out to the middle. Stuart Broad it will be to start off proceedings, to Kraigg Brathwaite. Here we go...
21.1 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Full and outside off, swing first up, Brathwaite works it off the inner half through mid-wicket.
21.2 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Landed outside off, left alone.
21.3 : S Broad to Brathwaite, WIDE. Miles outside off, outside the pitch, left alone.
Interesting choice of rollers by the Windies captain Jason Holder. Yesterday, before they began to bat, he opted for a light roller but this morning, he has gone in for a heavy one.
S Broad to Brathwaite, Around off, solidly defended.
21.4 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Landed outside off, let through.
21.5 : S Broad to Brathwaite, A bouncer outside off, Kraigg sways away from the line.
21.6 : S Broad to Brathwaite, IN THE AIR... DID IT CARRY? Ahh... Broad nearly strikes in his first over of the day. A full ball, around middle, Brathwaite gets across and flicks but cannot keep it down. The ball goes towards short mid-wicket where Keaton Jennings dives in front but the ball lands short.
Jimmy Anderson it will be from the other end. 6-1-10-0 so far.
22.1 : J Anderson to Campbell, Around off, watchfully defended to the off side.
22.2 : J Anderson to Campbell, The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
22.3 : J Anderson to Campbell, FOUR! First runs of the bat this morning. Short and around middle, Campbell pulls it through square leg and gets a boundary.
22.4 : J Anderson to Campbell, The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
An update on Ben Foakes - He had got hit on his hand while getting dismissed last afternoon and did not take the field. This morning, he has gone to the hospital and Jonny Bairstow will don the gloves today as well.
22.5 : J Anderson to Campbell, Down the leg side, John misses his flick.
22.6 : J Anderson to Campbell, The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads for a single.
23.1 : S Broad to Campbell, Landed outside off, left alone.
0.0 : Edged and gone! But hang on... Campbell takes a review! What has that hit then?
23.2 : S Broad to Campbell, NOT OUT! The ball has hit the arm. Superb bowling from Broad, causing indecision in the mind of the batsman. Campbell looks to defend, then tries to bail out of the shot. But he is late and in quick speed, one feels that the ball has taken the outside edge and gone straight to Joe Root at first slip. England celebrate and Broad is up and running. But wait. That familiar feeling if you are an England supporter - has Broad overstepped? No. The wait is because Campbell ha
23.3 : S Broad to Campbell, Landed outside off, left alone this time.
23.4 : S Broad to Campbell, A length ball, down the leg side, John misses his tuck and the ball goes off his pads down the leg side. The keeper stops it.
23.5 : S Broad to Campbell, The batsman defends it from within the crease.
23.6 : S Broad to Campbell, Jaffa to end the over! Campbell somehow survives this one. On a good length outside off, John looks to defend but the ball pitches and then seams away, past the outside edge. JUST past the outside edge.
24.1 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Full and outside off, eased through the covers for a couple.
24.2 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, LBW appeal, negated. On a length, around off, Brathwaite looks to tuck it to the leg side but misses and is hit on the pads. Anderson appeals but that seemed to be going down leg.
24.3 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Outside off, Kraigg feels for it but misses.
24.4 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On a length again, KB plays inside the line and gets beaten.
24.5 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Full and just around off, pushed towards cover.
24.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Watchfully lets this go outside off.
25.1 : S Broad to Campbell, Beauty. Full and outside off, Campbell looks to drive but the ball hits the grass, emanates a puff of dust and then moves a mile past the outside edge.
25.2 : S Broad to Campbell, On middle and leg, pushed to the leg side.
25.3 : S Broad to Campbell, A touch wide outside off, easily shouldered arms to.
25.4 : S Broad to Campbell, Outside off, pushed straight to point.
25.5 : S Broad to Campbell, EDGED, BUT PUT DOWN! Broad is on his haunches. He has been superb this morning but luck has eluded him. This was a straightforward chance. Full and outside off, Campbell looks to defend but the ball curves away, takes the outside edge and goes straight into the bread basket of Jos Buttler at third slip. But he messes it up. Buttler initially goes for the reverse cup but then realizes that the ball is coming at waist height, so adjusts to take it the other way, with the
25.6 : S Broad to Campbell, Outside off, on a length, John feels for it but misses. Well bowled, Stuart Broad.
26.1 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Full and around off, watchfully defended.
26.2 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Outside off, left alone.
26.3 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads for a single.
26.4 : J Anderson to Campbell, Around off, solidly defended.
26.5 : J Anderson to Campbell, A short ball, pulled through square leg for a run.
26.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Full and around middle, swinging away, watchfully pushed back to the bowler.
27.1 : S Broad to Campbell, On a good length outside off, Campbell looks to pull but gets a top edge and luckily for him, his ARM COMES IN THE WAY! Because, the ball was heading for straight up and nowhere else. Because the arm came in between, it got deflected to the off side. Broad starts to greet Campbell now. He is bowling superbly without any luck.
27.2 : S Broad to Campbell, Full and around off, watchfully defended.
27.3 : S Broad to Campbell, The batsman chooses to leave the ball outside his off stump.
27.4 : S Broad to Campbell, FOUR! CRISP! Given what is happening all around him, this is a super shot. Because he has waited for the scoring opportunity and when it has presented itself, Campbell has not missed out. Full and around middle, a bit too overpitched for the ball to swing, John drives it straight down the ground with neither of mid on or mid off having any chance.
27.5 : S Broad to Campbell, Outside off, left alone.
27.6 : S Broad to Campbell, Frustration for England. Frustration for Broad. No luck whatsoever. On a length around off, JC looks to defend but the ball curves away after pitching and beats the outside edge.
28.1 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Full and just around off, watchfully defended.
28.2 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Full and around middle, tailing in, worked through square leg for a single.
28.3 : J Anderson to Campbell, Around off, watchfully defended.
28.4 : J Anderson to Campbell, Outside off, comes in a long way, left alone.
28.5 : J Anderson to Campbell, Full and around off, watchfully defended.
28.6 : J Anderson to Campbell, Outside off, Campbell pushes it towards cover and takes off for a quick single. So it will be Broad vs Campbell again...
29.1 : Broad to J Campbell, TOP EDGE, IN THE AIR... someone catch it, someone catch it, someone catch it..... NO! The ball lands safely! Broad cannot believe it. What has he done that Lady Luck simply refuses to shine on him? A short ball, around off, Campbell looks to pull but is done in by the extra bounce. The ball takes the top edge and goes high in the air. Two men run in towards each other for the catch - Jonny Bairstow with the gloves to his right and deep square leg coming in. And would y
29.2 : S Broad to Campbell, Landed outside off, left alone.
29.3 : Broad to Campbell, Huge LBW shout but not out. A length ball, misdirected down the leg side, John misses his tuck and is hit on the pads. Going down the leg side.
29.4 : S Broad to Campbell, The batsman has been struck on the thigh pad.
29.5 : S Broad to Campbell, FOUR! ELEGANT! This guy has some nerves of steel. Again, when the opportunity to score comes, he does not miss out. It is a half volley outside off, Campbell leans a touch and drives it through the covers. The ball rockets away. 50-STAND UP FOR THE WINDIES! You would reckon that they are well on top, looking at the scorecard. But the group of 15 players in the middle will beg to differ.
29.6 : S Broad to Campbell, Outside off, pushed to the off side for a run.
30.1 : J Anderson to Campbell, Around middle, pushed towards mid on.
30.2 : J Anderson to Campbell, The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
30.3 : J Anderson to Campbell, Down the leg side, worked to the leg side for a single.
30.4 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
30.5 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Around off, watchfully blocked out.
30.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
Ben Stokes time. 5-2-5-0 so far.
31.1 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, Nearly induces a wicket. Full and outside off, Campbell looks to drive but is beaten by the away swing.
31.2 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, On a length outside off, punched through the covers for three.
31.3 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Around off, solidly defended back to the bowler.
31.4 : Stokes to K Brathwaite, EDGED, FOUR! Flashes and flashes hard. Full and wide outside off means a shot has to be played. A shot has to be played means you cannot show any mercy. And when you don't show any mercy, luck usually supports you because as the saying goes, fortune favours the brave. This seems to be the mantra of the Windies openers. Full and wide outside off, plenty of outswing but Brathwaite does not care. Goes hard at it on the drive, gets a thick outside edge but such is his l
31.5 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
31.6 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Another back foot defense to end the over.
32.1 : J Anderson to Campbell, A length ball wide outside off, Campbell withdraws his bat.
32.2 : J Anderson to Campbell, FOUR! Wow. I think the moment has come when Windies have decided, let us take the bull by the horns. A length ball around off, Campbell swings hard but it is clean, not a slog. Still, the ball hits high on the bat and achieves more height than distance. But the power on it is enough to take it towards the fence after a few bounces.
32.3 : J Anderson to Campbell, Outside off, steered behind point for a couple.
32.4 : J Anderson to Campbell, Punched off the back foot by the batsman.
32.5 : J Anderson to Campbell, Full and outside off, John drives this uppishly but there is no one to catch it. It is well wide of Anderson while there is no mid off in place. Three runs taken by the time the fielder gets to the ball from extra cover. The stand moves to 70. The deficit is now 117.
32.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Lovely ball. Full and around off, swinging away, Brathwaite looks to flick but is beaten by the swing. Gets a leading edge which does not carry to cover.
33.1 : Ben Stokes to Campbell, OUT! Yes, it is out! A wicket has fallen, finally. This statement is not out of support for England. But as a fan, you do feel for the bowlers. They have been trying, trying, trying and eventually, Lady Luck has taken pity on them. On a length, around middle and off, Campbell stays back to defend but the ball moves away slightly and takes the outside edge. Now come a couple of questions. Will someone catch it? My word, they do. And guess who? It is the man who dropp
0.0 : Shai Hope walks in at number 3, replacing Campbell.
33.2 : Ben Stokes to Hope, On a good length around off, watchfully defended.
33.3 : Ben Stokes to Hope, Outside off, a play and a miss from Hope.
33.4 : Ben Stokes to Hope, The batsman chooses to leave the ball outside his off stump.
33.5 : Ben Stokes to Hope, Outside off, a play and a miss again.
33.6 : Ben Stokes to Hope, FOUR BYES! That is a scorcher in this scorching heat from Stokesy. He lands it on a length outside off and gets it to jag back in. Hope looks to defend but is beaten all ends up. It cuts him into half and goes over the leg stump and past the diving Jonny Bairstow to the fine leg fence!
34.1 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Full and around middle, flicked through mid-wicket for a couple.
34.2 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Outside off, left alone.
34.3 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, FOUR OVERTHROWS! Oh dear... if enough tea pots were not there, Broad adds some more fire to the kettle. Anderson is not amused one bit. This is totally needless. Full on middle and off, Brathwaite blocks it towards short mid-wicket. Now, Hope at the other end, takes a start and then lazily strolls across. Broad at short mid-wicket sees that and first mimes a throw but then, on seeing no reaction, now fires a throw in reality. By that time, Hope gets in but what ha
34.4 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On a length outside off, watchfully defended.
34.5 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
34.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On a good length around off, well blocked out.
DRINKS BREAK.
35.1 : Ben Stokes to Hope, Huge shout for a caught behind! Not out! No review taken. A length ball, down the leg side, Hope looked to tuck it away and the ball went off something behind to Bairstow. The keeper leapt to his left and took it one-handed and immediately everyone went up in an appeal. But umpire Dharmasena calmly shook his head. Root had a chat with his slippers (slip fielders is what I mean) and then decided against the review. Good call. Replays show the ball hitting the trouser.
35.2 : Ben Stokes to S Hope, Full and outside off, driven through mid off. Three runs taken.
35.3 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Outside off, left alone.
35.4 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, The batsman defends it from within the crease.
35.5 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, On middle and leg, worked straight to square leg.
35.6 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Full and around off, watchfully defended.
Sam Curran introduced for the day. 3-0-3-0 yesterday.
36.1 : Sam Curran to Hope, On a length outside off, Hope looks to defend but the ball swings away and beats the outside edge.
36.2 : Sam Curran to Hope, Landed outside off, left alone.
36.3 : Sam Curran to Hope, FOUR! Full and outside off, Hope presses forward and guides this behind point for a boundary!
36.4 : Sam Curran to Hope, Around off, solidly blocked out.
36.5 : Sam Curran to Hope, Landed outside off, let through.
36.6 : Sam Curran to Hope, FOUR! ELEGANT! This bloke is so easy on the eye. Full and wide outside off, Hope gets a big stride forward, gets to the pitch of the ball and drives it through the covers for a boundary! The deficit is now 96. The stand moves to 21 from just 23 balls.
37.1 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, FOUR RUNNING RUNS! Excellent cricket from Brathwaite. Full and outside off, Kraigg drives this confidently down the ground. Extra cover starts to give it a chase and does get to the ball, managing to pull it back. But then he has to cross the boundary in the followthrough and then get back in. That extra couple of seconds allows Brathwaite to decide whether he should complete a quadruple and he does.
37.2 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Outside off, left alone.
37.3 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Brute. Every now and then, we get a ball that kicks off a length. Brathwaite tries to play that from the crease but then the ball seams away and beats the outside edge.
37.4 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, The batsman defends it from within the crease.
37.5 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, Another play and a miss outside off. This is on a length, just around off, KB looks to defend but the ball swings away and beats him.
37.6 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
38.1 : Sam Curran to Hope, Short and wide outside off, slapped to deep point for a single.
38.2 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Outside off, played towards point.
38.3 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Full and outside off, the temptation to drive is there, but Brathwaite resists tasting the apple.
38.4 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Landed outside off, shouldered arms to.
38.5 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, The batsman has attempted to put bat on ball - but fails.
38.6 : Sam Curran to Brathwaite, Full and around off, watchfully defended.
39.1 : Ben Stokes to Hope, Outside off, coming in, shouldered arms to.
39.2 : Ben Stokes to Hope, Down the leg side, worked towards fine leg for a single.
39.3 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
39.4 : Ben Stokes to Brathwaite, NO BALL. Oversteps, does the Big Ben and hands an extra run to the opposition. This one stayed low, extremely worrying on Day 2 and Brathwaite just about managed to push it towards cover for a quick single.

Countless edges. Countless plays and misses. Plenty of chances. Still, all England have is just a wicket to show from 29 overs in this session. Broad bowled his heart out, but just could not get past the dogged resistance of the Windies. He did manage to get Campbell after a reprieve for the latter but then, that has not exactly opened the floodgates as England would have thought.
The Windies, on the other hand, have played superbly. There is nothing much you can do when the pitch is offering so much but the one good thing that they have done is - ensured that no bad ball is left unpunished. The frustration of not getting wickets off good balls is getting to England and they are slowly getting into desperation mode.
The deficit is now 61. Cannot be just 61. Given the way the pitch if behaving, it might take just a couple of good balls to change the passage of play. The Windies are on top at the moment, but on this pitch, one is never settled. Join us back at 12.40 pm local (1640 GMT) for the second session.

84.1 : J Anderson to Bravo, Down the leg side, Bravo misses his tuck.
84.2 : J Anderson to Bravo, Oh dear... a Nataraja pull shot, or Nataraja punch? A length ball outside off, Bravo looks to pull but is way too early. 85.6 : S Broad to Bravo, Outside off, left alone.
86.1 : J Anderson to Dowrich, That is unlucky. Full and around off, Dowrich hits it straight back. It is so straight that it hits the stumps at the other end. It then deflects away past mid on and the batsmen return for the second.
0.0 : The umpire has raised his finger! Dowrich has been adjudged LBW. Height? Umpire's call? Inside edge? Let's see whether Dowrich's review helps him...
86.2 : Anderson to Dowrich, NOT OUT! THE BALL IS MISSING THE STUMPS! What a review from Dowrich. The ball landed on a length and then jagged back in. Caught Dowrich in front of the stumps and he was hit flush on the pads. Anderson appealed and umpire Gaffaney raised his finger! Dowrich and Bravo had a mid-pitch conversation and eventually signalled for the review. Saved by the height!
86.3 : J Anderson to Dowrich, The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.

91.4 : S Broad to Dowrich, Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
91.5 : S Broad to Dowrich, OUT! Caught at third slip! That is a brute of a delivery. Almost similar to what Joe Root got in England's innings, but this was a touch on the softer side. It is a on a fuller length outside off and Dowrich comes forward to defend. But the ball suddenly explodes, takes the glove and lobs gently towards Jos Buttler at third slip. Watchful innings from Dowrich and an important one. The lead is just one shy of 50.
In walks the gentle giant. Captain Jason Holder arrives at number 8.
91.6 : S Broad to Holder, Outside off, left alone.
Huge shout for LBW! Bravo has missed a full toss and Stokes reckons he has his man LBW. The umpire has not given it and England take the review...
92.1 : Ben Stokes to Bravo, NOT OUT, FOUR LEG BYES! It looked not out to the naked eye, because the impact seemed to be outside leg. Indeed, that is the case. A full toss, from over the wicket, Bravo misses his flick and is hit on the pads. Stokes reckons he has his man as he roars an LBW shout but umpire Gaffaney is unmoved. The slip cordon charge towards the bowler and Root signals for the 'T'. Impact kills the deal.

Correction. Another jaffa from Broad. He lands it on a length outside off, Holder looks to defend but the ball cuts in off the seam and goes off something to the keeper, cutting Holder into half. Sam Curran returns. Quite a big moment for him. After a stunning series against India, he has kind of quietened down. Not a bad time to make the ball talk. 9-0-25-0 so far. Meanwhile, Broad calls Anderson for a chat. He wants to know which side of the ball to shine. Jimmy comes across and struts his stuff. Easy-peasy for him.

Good, solid, old-fashioned Test match cricket on display in Antigua. Indefinite bounce, plenty of seam and swing movement, a bit of turn but the Windies have managed to dodge all those. Yes, they were helped by England with some dropped catches but that is not their problem.
The saying goes that a good start often sets the tone for the day. Stuart Broad nearly provided that in the first 20 minutes of play - only for Jos Buttler to put down John Campbell at third slip. That well, kind of spread like an epidemic. Multiple players started putting down catches and one has to say, even though the English bowled really well, they have let the hosts get away.
It was the period after Lunch which fired England up. Stuart Broad was the missile launcher, running through the middle order but after that, there was not enough incisive bowling. Ben Stokes bowled his heart out too, so did Jimmy Anderson, but the consistency was lacking. Moeen Ali's 2 wickets could actually mean trouble for England with the pitch expected to take plenty of turn over the weekend.
And now. Windies. Normally known for batting with flair. But have to say - except for Shimron Hetmyer, no one was in a hurry to leave the crease. The top four absorbed the pressure and then just concentrated on battling tough periods. Darren Bravo stood out tall, playing out 165 balls but not allowing England to burst through. He forged small but meaningful partnerships and kept frustrating England.
Right then! The pitch doing a lot of things. How crucial will this lead for Windies turn out to be? It is 85 as of now and the longer Holder bats, the closer it will get to that 150-200 mark. On the other hand, a wicket early morning on Saturday might see England come out to bat in the first hour itself. Join us at 10 am local (1400 GMT) to see who wins what could be the decisive day of this Test. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
... DAY 3, SESSION 1 ...
Hello. Before we mention anything about this Test, a piece of sad news. Alzarri Joseph's mother has passed away this morning and we express our deepest condolences over the same. But the fast bowler is still with the team and might well stay till the end of this Test, enhancing the spirit of 'THE GAME MUST GO ON.' May her soul rest in peace.
Okay. Time to shift focus to cricket then. 187 plays 272. Lead inching close to 100. Just have a look at the way Roston Chase was dismissed via a grubber. Saying all of these, each and every factor points to a 2-0 series lead for the Windies.
Can we rule out England though? They are responsible for their own position, having one of the worst field days. Stuart Broad threatened to run through the Windies' line-up last afternoon but some poor fielding and catching allowed the hosts off the hook. If the tourists can rectify things this morning, bowl out the Windies under 300 and then bat long and hard, try and get a lead of 150, then, a role reversal is very much possible.
WEATHER REPORT - Bright and sunny conditions welcome us in Antigua. Do not want the rain to play any part in this game, do we?
Kraigg Brathwaite has a chat with Daren Ganga. The former says that he is happy with his score, though he wanted to carry on. On his innings, Brathwaite says that one needs to curb his shots on this surface and only punish the bad balls. Adds that the misbehaving pitch adds to the woes and hence, the batsmen need to be cautious and careful. Hopes that his batsmen bat for as long as possible this morning because the track is getting extremely difficult to bat on. On the team spirit at the moment,
PITCH REPORT - Daren Ganga doing the pitch report feels that the track is still good, though there is some wear and tear, due to the footmarks of the bowlers. Observes that the grass is pretty much even. David Lloyd has a look now and says, 'I don't want to bat on this pitch.' Sees plenty of grass covering on one end of the track and observes plenty of lumps. That means more indifferent bounce. Predicts more help for the Windies quicks than the English because he reckons that the hosts are stron
We are not far away from the action. All the players are wearing black-arm bands as a mark of respect for Alzarri Joseph's late mother. Slowly, Bravo and Holder walk out. Slow. That is how Bravo played the whole of yesterday. Do not expect any change in that tempo. Stuart Broad will start off proceedings for the day. Holder to face. Let's play.

111.2 : S Broad to Holder, A bit too wide outside off, watchfully let through.
111.3 : S Broad to Holder, Full and outside off, the outswing now, Jason looks to drive but gets a bit of an outside edge behind point. The fielders at point and gully chase it in pairs, one of them gets to the ball, slides and then parries it back to the other. Two runs taken.

130.6 : M Ali to Bravo, OUT! STUMPED! WINDIES ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 306! Moeen takes the last wicket. Tosses it above the eyeline of Bravo, the southpaw comes down the track but halfway through, realizes that he is done in flight. Tries to adjust by aiming to defend the ball but is nowhere even close to the pitch of it. Misses while Bairstow doesn't. Whips the bails off in a jiffy. WINDIES LEAD BY 119!
Around 15 minutes is what England will get, to bat before Lunch. It is a nervous period and all they will have in mind is to see that tricky period off. That lead of 119 is a good one on any track but on this one, it is gold dust.
Good bowling by England again this morning, like yesterday. But today, the catching was better. The visitors gave away just 34 runs in 20 overs this morning, picking up the remaining 4 wickets. Broad and Anderson bowled unchanged for 16 overs before Stokes and Moeen joined in on the fun.
Just one half century in a score of 300 shows how difficult a surface this is to bat on. England will need a good start while the Windies will be aiming for a wicket or two in this short burst. Stay tuned...
0.1 : K Roach to Burns, FIVE WIDES! Oh dear. Where did that come from? Pretty close to competing with the Steven Harmison from England during the 2006-07 Ashes. Remember that ball? First delivery of the match and Harmison bowled it outside the pitch. It went to Andrew Flintoff at first slip, it was that wide. Roach here, bowls this outside leg and the ball seams away through where first slip would have been for a right-hander. Poor Dowrich has no chance as he dives to his right. The ball races to

2.5 : K Roach to Denly, Huge, huge shout for LBW! Turned down! Lovely delivery. On a length outside off, Denly looks to defend with his bat around the off stump. But he is nowhere even close to blocking the ball. It nips back in, beats the bat comfortably and raps him on the pads. Roach appeals, appeals, appeals, then even extends his appeal. Dharmasena calmly waits for the appeal to quieten down and then shakes his head. Jason Holder charges from the slips towards his bowler, asking about the re

20.1 : J Holder to Root, Outside off, pushed towards point.
20.2 : J Holder to Root, FOUR! Oh nearly... Full and down the leg side, Root looks to flick but while doing so, falls over a bit. The ball hits the inner half of the bat and flies behind. Is that gone? First an LBW appeal. Then one for caught behind. Neither given. Holder takes the review... He reckons there is wood on this...
21.3 : Joseph to Root, OUT! Caught behind! Wow. Superb review from Holder. He can do nothing wrong at the moment. The Midas of Windies cricket. A length ball outside off, Root looked to defend but the ball came back in a long way and hit the pads, on its way to the keeper. Now, there is no reaction from the bowler. But Holder comes charging in from first slip towards the umpire. Nothing from the bowler still. The captain looks at his slip cordon and then signals the 'T'. And yes, Snickometer show

22.6 : J Holder to Buttler, The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
23.1 : A Joseph to Denly, Outside off, comes back in a long way, left alone. Superb movement.
23.2 : A Joseph to Joe Denly, OUT! Left alone and Denly has to walk back alone! Timberrrrrrr! No emotions from Joseph for obvious reasons. No reaction from Denly either. But the entire Windies team is pumped up. This 20-year old lad has just suffered a personal loss this morning. But instead of being with his family, he is here, playing for his national side. This is a ripper of a delivery. On a length outside off, Denly gets across but then shoulders arms. He trusts the line, trusts the bounce,
Ben Stokes comes in at number 6, replacing Denly.
23.3 : A Joseph to Stokes, A bouncer to greet the new man, Stokes ducks.
23.4 : Joseph to Stokes, Another huge shout! The slip cordon is charging in but the umpire does not budge! On a length outside leg, Stokes looks to defend but misses. The ball hits something and goes behind. Like the Root dismissal, the entire slip cordon comes charging in. Again, Joseph does not react. Holder asks his slip fielders and Darren Bravo says he is not sure whether there was any edge. Holder is disappointed and does not take the review. No bat involved according to the replays.

27.6 : A Joseph to Stokes, Full and outside off, swinging away, let through. TEA ON DAY 3, ENGLAND TRAIL BY 44!
Defining session of the Test match. 4 wickets in the span of 68 balls. Could have been 5 in the space of 70. But Stokes got a life. The Windies still look in firm control of this Test but at least Stokes and Buttler can try and offer some rearguard action.
Hats off to Joseph. He has bowled his heart out. Roach and Gabriel were undisciplined but Holder and Joseph have bowled with fire and control. The final session could well be the final one of the match but we would love to see some fight from England and get a lead of around 100. Join us back at 3 pm local (1900 GMT).
... DAY 3, FINAL SESSION ...
Welcome back for what could be the final session of the match. 40 overs left in the day. Can Windies finish the game off by the end? The players slowly take the field. Buttler and Stokes get set to resume their fight. Shannon Gabriel will start off proceedings after Tea.
28.1 : S Gabriel to Buttler, Full and outside off, Buttler looks to defend but the ball whizzes past the outside edge.
28.2 : S Gabriel to J Buttler, MIX-UP, CHANCE OF A RUN OUT, SAFE! Full and around middle, Buttler works it towards mid-wicket. Stokes is up and running for the single but Buttler is not so sure. He sends Stokes back who turns around and dives and would have made it even if the throw had found its mark.
28.3 : S Gabriel to Buttler, That ball has taken the inside edge onto the pads.
28.4 : S Gabriel to Buttler, The ball is way outside the off stump, easy leave for the batsman.

29.6 : K Roach to Stokes, Full and well outside off, left alone once more.
30.1 : S Gabriel to Buttler, FIVE WIDES! Dear me... Gabriel has bowled this in the middle of the pitch and then the ball has deviated like a boomerang way down the leg side. Poor Shane Dowrich puts in an unbelievable dive to his left, but in vain.
S Gabriel to Buttler, A bouncer on middle, Jos ducks.
30.2 : S Gabriel to Buttler, FOUR! Runs are lowing now. On a good length outside off, Buttler punches this through the covers and finds the gap.

31.2 : K Roach to Stokes, Full and outside off, left alone.
31.3 : K Roach to Stokes, Whoa! Interesting. Out of nowhere, Stokes dances down the track, trying to disrupt the thought process of Roach. It is a length ball outside off, Ben lets it go.
31.4 : K Roach to Stokes, Outside off, punched back to the bowler.
31.5 : K Roach to Stokes, OUT! Dragged on! Number 5 is down. This is a poor, poor shot. They say, you live by the sword but you also die by it. Stokes was looking to counter-attack, trying to wipe off the deficit quickly but in that process, he has played one shot too many. Full and outside off, Ben plays for the outswinger but this one swings in. Catches the inside edge and rattles the leg stump. Stokes admonishes himself. The visitors need another 31 runs to make Windies bat again. Surely they
Moeen Ali walks in at number 7, replacing Stokes.

33.4 : K Roach to Ali, Landed outside off, fuller in length, Ali looks to defend but the ball goes past the outside edge. Late away movement.
33.5 : K Roach to Ali, Outside off, MA looks to play that with soft hands and the ball goes off the outside edge, but does not carry to first slip.
33.6 : K Roach to Ali, OUT! BOWLED! Yet another one hits the stumps. Fourth bowled dismissal in this innings. Full and fast around off, coming in with the angle, Moeen looks to drive but like Stokes, he is playing for the away-going ball. Gets a thick inside edge which hits him on his pads and then the stumps. 23 runs still adrift...
Ben Foakes comes in to bat now. He has not taken the field since that blow on his fingers on Thursday afternoon. Jason Holder comes to bowl as well. 8-2-27-2 so far.
34.1 : J Holder to Buttler, Around off, solidly defended.

34.3 : J Holder to Foakes, Wide down the leg side, No trouble at all for the batsman.

34.5 : J Holder to Foakes, Way outside off, let through.
34.6 : J Holder to Foakes, That ball has taken the inside edge onto the pads. They pick up a single.
35.1 : K Roach to Foakes, FOUR! A short ball, outside off, Foakes pulls it over mid-wicket and gets a boundary. 100 UP FOR ENGLAND. Trail by 17 now.
35.2 : K Roach to Foakes, Landed outside off, left alone.
35.3 : K Roach to Ben Foakes, FOUR! GORGEOUS! A looping half volley outside off, Foakes reaches out to this one and drives it through the vacant mid off region. The stand moves to 10 from 9 balls.
35.4 : K Roach to Foakes, Outside off, coming in, left alone.
35.5 : K Roach to Foakes, Big hooping inswinger, around off, Ben looks to work it to the leg side but misses and is hit on the pads.
35.6 : K Roach to Foakes, OUCH! Rapped on the knuckles. Roach nods with a smile. Foakes acknowledges. Full and outside off, Ben looks to come forward and defend but gets hit on the right glove and then the forearm.
36.1 : J Holder to Buttler, Full and outside off, Buttler shoulders arms. The ball pitches and then moves a long way away.
36.2 : J Holder to Buttler, Oohhh... on a good length around off, Jos shoulders arms again. Is hit right into the midriff.
36.3 : J Holder to Jos Buttler, FOUR! GLORIOUS! The deficit is now 9 and Buttler has become England's highest run scorer in this innings. Full and outside off, Jos drives it powerfully through mid off. The fielder gets across to his right, makes a half stop, but so powerfully is that hit that the ball still makes it to the fence behind.
36.4 : J Holder to Buttler, FOUR! Consecutive boundaries. Overpitched, on middle, Buttler whips it over mid-wicket and gets a boundary.
36.5 : J Holder to Buttler, Well outside off, left alone.
36.6 : J Holder to Buttler, The batsman defends it from within the crease.
37.1 : K Roach to Foakes, Full and outside off, swinging in a long way, Foakes leans to defend but misses. The ball hits his back thigh and goes towards gully.
0.0 : Short leg comes in place now. With the ball going around like this, a bat-pad is always a chance...
37.2 : K Roach to Foakes, Around off, more inward movement, watchfully blocked out.
37.3 : K Roach to Foakes, FOUR! Going for glory, getting greedy. A leg stump half volley now, Foakes just turns this delightfully over square leg for a boundary. Moves to 13 at run-a-ball with 12 of those coming in boundaries. The stand is worth 22 from just 21 deliveries.
37.4 : K Roach to Foakes, Wide outside off, left alone.
Huge shout for LBW! Not given. Roach reckons that he has Foakes plumb in front. Holder gives his consent and the third umpire is called for again...
37.5 : K Roach to Foakes, OUT! Spectacular review from Holder and England have lost their 7th still being in the deficit! Excellent bowling. On a length outside off, Foakes looks to defend coming half forward but the ball comes back in prodigiously, beats the bat by a mile and hits him on the front pad. Roach roars an LBW shout but the umpire turns it down. To the naked eye, it seems like height is the factor. But Roach is confident and so is Holder. In fact, the captain instantaneously agrees to
Last hope for a miracle for England. Sam Curran arrives at number 9, replacing Foakes. He did that time and time again to the Indians recently. Can he repeat that against the West Indians?
37.6 : K Roach to Curran, Full and around middle, nice inswing, watchfully defended.
38.1 : J Holder to Buttler, On a length outside off, Buttler shoulders arms.
0.0 : Another review. This time by England. Buttler has been adjudged LBW and he takes the review. Looks close...
38.2 : Holder to Buttler, OUT! Umpire's call it is and Buttler departs too! Holder is on a roll. He lands this on a good length in line of the stumps and Buttler is deep in his crease, trying to hop and work it to the leg side. He misses and is hit on the knee roll. Holder appeals, umpire Dharmasena thinks for a while and then raises his finger! Buttler takes the review and Hawk Eye shows it to be clipping the top of the bails! Unlucky for Buttler but such is the game... Three wickets for the cap
Stuart Broad walks in at number 10, replacing Buttler. We could be in for some tailender slogging now.
38.3 : J Holder to Broad, Another LBW shout, but not out. Full and around leg stump, swinging down, Broad gets across to flick but misses. Is hit on the pads but that was going down leg. The batsmen cross over for a single and this means WINDIES WILL BAT AGAIN.
38.4 : J Holder to Curran, FOUR! HANDSOME! ENGLAND INTO THE LEAD NOW! Full and outside off, Curran leans into this one and drives it through the covers!
38.5 : J Holder to Curran, Outside off, punched through the covers again for a couple.
38.6 : J Holder to Sam Curran, Full and outside off, driven towards mid off.
39.1 : Roach to Broad, OUT! Another LBW! 9 down! Roach gets 4. Perfect ball to a tail-ender. Keep a short leg and a silly point, instilling the thought of a short ball in his mind, then bowl a full ball. Broad picks it late, looks to flick but is late. Is hit on the pads and Roach appeals. Umpire Gaffaney raises his finger in a flash. Broad walks across to Curran to chat regarding the review and after a brief discussion, is sent back.
0.0 : Jimmy Anderson is the last man in.
39.2 : K Roach to Anderson, Superb yorker. Full and straight. Anderson looks to flick and is gone for all money. But just as the ball looks to sneak beneath the bat, the willow comes down to push the ball away.

40.5 : J Holder to Sam Curran, Full and wide outside off, Sam swings hard and miscues it over point. There is a man in the deep but he cannot get there. A single taken.

41.5 : K Roach to Curran, DROPPED, FOUR! Roach had a chance to take his 5th. A full toss outside off, Curran mistimes his swipe back to the bowler. The ball dips onto Roach who tries to change his followthrough and take it low to his left but the ball bursts through his palms and just misses the stumps at the other end. Roston Chase starts to chase but comes second.
41.6 : K Roach to Curran, A bouncer to end the over, Anderson ducks.
42.1 : J Holder to Anderson, OUT! Slower ball, chipped in the air and taken! Holder has 4. The slower ball, at 122 kph, fuller in length, Anderson is foxed by the change in pace, as he backs away and looks to go inside out. He is early into the shot and just spoons the ball in the air. Alzarri Joseph charges in from mid on, keeps his eyes on the ball and dives in front to take a wonderful catch. 14 RUNS NEEDED FOR A 2-0 SERIES LEAD!
Unbelievable. For the third time in 4 innings, Windies have blown the English away. A deficit of 119 was always going to be difficult to erase without losing much wickets but England lost 8 before they could get into the lead. We might have even witnessed an innings defeat, had Campbell taken the catch of Stokes earlier.
Once again, Roach was the architect of the destruction. He came out firing after Tea and sent the middle and lower middle order packing, moving the ball like a hoop. Cannot say the English batsmen played bad strokes. They were just consumed by some fiery pace bowling. Holder continues his meteoric rise, grabbing another 4-fer. And yes, spare a thought for the 20-year old Alzarri Joseph, who is fighting a personal battle. He got the big wicket of Joe Root and then Denly.
Just 14 to win then. Can England pick up a wicket or two and salvage some pride? Not much of it left anyways...
0.1 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, FOUR! 10 needed now. Short and outside off, Brathwaite punches it behind point and gets a boundary!
0.2 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Around off, Kraigg looks to defend and does so comfortably.

0.5 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, The batsman defends it from within the crease.
0.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Back of a length around off, well blocked out.
Stuart Broad gets a chance...
1.1 : S Broad to Campbell, Countdown time. Just need 9. On a length around middle and leg, tucked through square leg for a single.
1.2 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Full on middle, flicked through mid-wicket for a run.
1.3 : S Broad to Campbell, On middle, pushed down the ground towards mid on.
1.4 : S Broad to Campbell, FOUR! LOVELY! Full and outside off, Campbell leans and drives it through the covers for a boundary! Just 4 away from a win now!
Broad comes charging in and then delivers a length ball outside off. But Campbell moves away at the last moment. He was not ready. Dead ball signalled.
1.5 : S Broad to Campbell, A length ball around middle, moving away, John looks to defend but is squared up. The ball hits his hand and drops to the off side.
A review taken... Broad reckons that he has got Campbell LBW. Let's see...
1.6 : S Broad to Campbell, NOT OUT. Missing leg stump by a mile. Full and around middle, Campbell walks across and looks to flick but misses. He is hit on the pads and Broad appeals. Root takes the review but Hawk Eye does not support his cause. A leg bye taken in the meanwhile.
2.1 : J Anderson to J Campbell, SIX! WINDIES WIN BY 10 WICKETS! What a way to end the game. A short ball, around off, Campbell swivels and pulls it over mid-wicket for half a dozen! Both the openers hug each other and are pumped up. Well played, Holder and co.
300TH TEST LOSS FOR ENGLAND. First Test series win for the Windies over England since 2008. No wonder not a single English player is seen on the ground. The entire squad is in the dressing room, thinking about this loss. This moment though, is for Jason Holder and co. Is this the turnaround which sparks their revival?
If Bridgetown was a one-odd case, well, Windies certainly did not believe so. They blew away England for 77 in the first innings. And here, they have dismantled them for 187 and 132. Their bowlers have sparked their revival and in both games, it was Kemar Roach taking the lead. A 4-fer in the first innings here meant that Holder's decision to field first was vindicated and in the second, a lead of 119 almost proved enough to inflict an innings defeat. Roach's match figures read 28-7-82-8. He was
Credit has to be given to the batsmen as well from the home side. On a track which was very difficult to bat on, they managed to get a lead in excess of 100, which was gold dust in this case. Only one half centurion in the innings but the time spent was enormous. The top four batsmen faced 556 balls - England played only 619 in both innings combined. The hosts' batters took their time and grafted their innings, not allowing England to get much ahead. Of course, that lucky Friday aided them, wher
The players are getting ready for the presentation. Should Kemar Roach be given the Man of The Series here itself? 13 wickets at an average of 12.07 and a strike rate of 24.4. Mind-blowing.
England captain Joe Root is up for a chat first. He says that it has been frustrating to have been outperformed once again. Feels sad that the bowling group gave it its all, but the batting could not step up. Admits that the toss could have been a factor but does not want to look at things which are not in his control. On the road ahead, Joe says that the team needs to come out in St. Lucia and win, as simple as that. Wants his batsmen to put in some big scores. On Windies bowling menacingly, Ro
KEMAR ROACH HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH FOR HIS 8/82 across both innings. Says that it is a special award as a series win at home is great, that too against England, one of the top sides in Test cricket. On doing well against left-handers, Roach says that he had been working on that angle for quite a while and the effort is slowly reaping dividends. On his mantra for success, Kemar says that he just concentrates on bowling in the right areas. On him liking this ground, Roach smiles and s
Jason Holder's time now to speak. Says that he is finding it very difficult to hide his emotions. Recounts Roach's journey throughout his career and is pleased for him. On the young group, Jason says that the team is hungry for success. They have not been winning too many of late and were desperate to turn it around. Credits each and every individual in the dressing room and also the management staff. On his own journey as a captain, Jason says that it has been an up and down journey and he has
First Test - Won by 381 runs. Finished in 4 days. Second Test - Won by 10 wickets. Wrapped up in 3 days. What is going to happen in the third? Join us on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 10 am local (1400 GMT) for all the action from the third Test. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
