South Africa beat Pakistan by 5 wickets
SA 207/5 (42)
Match over
0.4 : 0.4: K Rabada to F Zaman, FOUR! Exquisite! What a way to get off the mark. Full and on off, Zaman shows the full face of the bat and just strokes it past the bowler and into the fence. First boundary of the game.
4.5 : 4.5: K Rabada to Imam, OUT! In the air... taken! Imam has been bounced out! Early strike for South Africa and the guy who played so well in the last game does not contribute a lot in this one. He may not have been expecting a short one as Rabada has already bowled one for the over. Hence, his weight was on the front foot. Rabada though still bowls one, a quick one. It bounces just at the right height. Imam fails to transfer his weight onto the back foot but still goes ahead with the pull. All he
4.6 : 4.6: K Rabada to B Azam, FOUR! Off the mark in style! Azam could not have asked for a better first ball. Full and on the pads, Azam flicks it through square leg and the ball races to the fence. A boundary to finish but a successful over for the hosts.
6.5 : 6.5: K Rabada to B Azam, FOUR! Class! Not a very bad delivery this. Maybe it was slightly overpitched. Azam opens the face of the bat and strokes it on the up through covers and the ball races away.
7.3 : 7.3: D Paterson to F Zaman, FOUR! Should not have been a boundary! A poor effort in the field! Short and on the body, Zaman helps it on it way towards fine leg. Shamsi there runs to his left, slides but fails to stop the ball. This is already an expensive over and three balls to go.
8.6 : 8.6: K Rabada to B Azam, OUT! Rabada strikes again! Once again it is the short ball which does the trick for him. Gets the better of Pakistan's best ODI batsman for not a lot. Rabada bangs it short and outside off, it is the scrambled seam delivery. It comes slow off the surface. Azam is a touch early into the pull shot. Also, his bat seems to have shaken when it makes contact with the ball. It ends up going high in the air towards deep square leg. Phehlukwayo there runs in and takes a good catc
10.6: D Olivier to F Zaman, FOUR! Should release all the pressure that was building! Full and right in the zone for Zaman. He punches it down the ground and the ball races away. Ends the over in a good way for Pakistan.
12.4 : 12.4: D Olivier to M Hafeez, FOUR! Glorious! Full and outside off, Hafeez does not let that one go. He leans into it and strokes it through covers and the ball races away.
13.5 : 13.5: A Phehlukwayo to M Hafeez, OUT! Soft, very soft dismissal this and Hafeez, who was looking so good out there is sent back. On a length and it is around the pads, Hafeez tries to flick. Now due to the slowness, he is not able to get it as square as he wants it to. It is also uppish and hence goes straight into the hands of the man at short mid-wicket. Faf du Plessis there takes an easy catch. Pakistan slip further here.
14.1 : 14.1: D Olivier to F Zaman, OUT! Another short ball gets the better of a Pakistan batsman. This one though is a snorter. We saw Olivier doing this a several times in the Test match and he has done it here too. It is banged in halfway down the pitch, keeps rising on the batsman. A serious effort ball as this one really zipped off this surface which is relatively quite slow. Zaman tries to fend at it but the ball hits the higher portion of the bat and lobs towards point. Miller runs in and takes a
18.2 : 18.2: D Olivier to S Khan, SIX! Up and over! He has picked the bones out of that one. Expected the short one, is in position early and pulls it right off the middle and into the mid-wicket stands. Much-needed this!
18.3 : 18.3: D Olivier to S Khan, FOUR! Clever this from Shadab. 10 from the two balls. Another short one, Shadab lets this one arrive and then upper cuts it over the slip cordon and into the fence.
21.1 : 21.1: T Shamsi to S Malik, Edged and FOUR! Maybe Faf should have kept the slip in place. Shamsi bowls the wrong one and lands it around off, draws Malik forward to tries to defend and the ball takes the edge. Goes through the vacant slip position and away to the third man fence.
21.4 : 21.4: T Shamsi to S Khan, OUT! Shamsi picks up a wicket in his first over. Strikes instantly, talk about impact. Looped up around off, Shadab gets low and brings out the big slog sweep. It takes the top edge and skies over mid-wicket. Rassie van der Dussen runs in from the deep and takes a good, safe catch by sliding forward. A promising stand of 27 comes to a close.
25.3 : 25.3: T Shamsi to H Talat, OUT! Shamsi picks up his second of the innings, inside his third over. This is nicely bowled, very nicely bowled. And sharp work from Klaasen too behind the stumps to finish the job. Looped up around off, on a driving length, draws Hussain Talat forward to play and he quite can't get close enough to the pitch of the ball. It turns away, beats the outside edge and loses his balance a bit. Seeing this, Klaasen takes the bails off in flash. Pakistan slip further.
30.2 : 30.2: A Phehlukwayo to S Malik, OUT! That's a massive wicket. The experienced head of Shoaib Malik makes an error in judgement and pays the price for it. This is a body blow to Pakistan, he was set out there and looking good, departs at the absolute wrong time. Short ball angling in on middle and leg, Malik rocks back and pulls it over mid-wicket with a swivel. Hits it straight down the throat of Reeza Hendricks who makes no mistake in taking that.
31.1 : 31.1: T Shamsi to S Ahmed, FOUR! Poor line and Sarfraz makes the bowler pay. It's short and around his hips, he swivels and pulls it with control along the turf past the diving backward square leg fielder. A boundary results.
31.6 : 31.6: T Shamsi to F Ashraf, OUT! All three reds are ticked and Ashraf is out of here. Shamsi deceives the batsman with the wrong 'un. Lands it outside off and it turns into the batsman, Ashraf prods forward to defend but is caught on the pad. The spinner loudly appeals and the umpire raises his finger. Faheem speaks with his skipper and the latter signals the 'T'. Replays roll in and show the southpaw is gone for all money. Pakistan lose another wicket along with their only review.
34.5 : 34.5: A Phehlukwayo to H Ali, FOUR! Up and over! Excellent shot by Hasan Ali. Full and on off, Ali lofts it over mid off and the ball races to the fence.
34.6 : 34.6: A Phehlukwayo to H Ali, SIX! Hasan Alis is going to enjoy himself out there. Slightly short and it sits up to be hit. He flat-bats it over the long on fence. 10 from the last two balls. These are handy runs for the visitors.
35.3 : 35.3: T Shamsi to H Ali, FOUR! Hasan Ali is on the charge here. Another delivery which is very full. Ali lofts it over the bowler's head and into the fence.
35.5 : 35.5: T Shamsi to H Ali, SIX! He has hit that some! What a shot. Brings the slog sweep out and hits it right of the middle. It goes sailing over the mid-wicket fence. A huge over this is. 15 from it so far.
37.3 : 37.3: K Rabada to H Ali, SIX! Take that says Hasan Ali! A nothing delivery, length ball and Hasan loves it there. He smacks it over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie.
42.3: T Shamsi to H Ali, FOUR! Ali on fire. On the pads and it is short, Hasan gets down on one knee and sweeps it to the square leg region for a boundary.
44.2 : 44.2: D Paterson to S Ahmed, FOUR! Classic drive by Sarfraz. Full outside off, Ahmed gets on his front foot and drives it through point for a boundary.
44.4 : 44.4: D Paterson to H Ali, FOUR! Gets his front foot out of the way and hits it through mid off for a boundary. He's timing the ball so cleanly. This was right in his slot and he put it away.
44.5 : 44.5: D Paterson to H Ali, FOUR! Two in two. Full on middle, Ali flicks it over square leg and the ball takes a bounce and goes over the fence for another boundary.
45.1 : 45.1: A Phehlukwayo to S Ahmed, OUT! The partnership is broken and Sarfraz Ahmed is back to the pavilion. It is full on off, the ball keeps low after pitching. It goes under Sarfraz's bat and deflects off his pad and hits the timber. The Pakistan skipper misses out on a well deserved fifty. Phehlukwayo gets the breakthrough, but a good knock from the skipper. Has taken his team to a decent total.
45.5 : 45.5: A Phehlukwayo to H Ali, OUT! Hasan Ali departs. A excellent, excellent innings from him has to come to an end. Full on middle and leg, Ali tries to heave it over long on. He doesn't time this well and Faf du Plessis there times his jump to perfection as he takes a good catch moving to his left. Hasan Ali has to go for 59 off just 45 balls. Andile Phehlukwayo gets his career-best figures of 22/4 in 9.5 overs. PAKISTAN ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 203.
0.2 : 0.2: F Ashraf to R Hendricks, FOUR! The chase is off the mark and in some style. Full on middle and leg, Hendricks flicks it away towards mid-wicket for a boundary.
1.2: S Afridi to H Amla, FOUR! Class! Full outside off, Amla just opens the face off the bat and hits it through point for a boundary. What a way to get off the mark. Continuing from where he left out in the previous match.
1.4 : 1.4: S Afridi to H Amla, FOUR! Overpitched outside off, Amla drives it beautifully through covers for a boundary. Second of the over.
1.5 : 1.5: S Afridi to H Amla, OUT! Shaheen has the last laugh and Amla is out of here. Young Afridi outsmarts the vetran Amla. Full on middle and off. After swinging it away for the first four deliveries he gets this one in and Amla goes nowhere with the foot movement. The ball comes in a bit after pitching. It gets an inside edge and onto the stumps. South Africa lose their first wicket and it's the centurion from last match Hashim Amla.
3.2 : 3.2: S Afridi to R Hendricks, OUT! Second wicket for Shaheen Afridi. Full outside off, Reeza Hendricks goes after it but he gets an outside edge. The ball goes straight to Sarfraz Ahmed and the skipper takes an easy catch. Pakistan needed early wickets and the young Shaheen Afridi doesn't give them just one, he gives them two. The young man is on fire.
3.4 : 3.4: S Afridi to du Plessis, FOUR! Faf du Plessis is the third batsmen to get off the mark with a boundary in this innings. Length delivery on middle, du Plessis flicks it away through mid-wicket. The fielder puts a dive to stop the ball but cannot keep it in. This will give the South African skipper confidence.
4.1 : 4.1: F Ashraf to van der Dussen, FOUR! Shot! A half volley outside off, it still has to be put away. Rassie does it in some style. He leans into it and strokes it into the gap in the cover region. Need not run for those.
4.5 : 4.5: F Ashraf to du Plessis, FOUR! Excellent reply by Faf. Ashraf maybe gets carried away by the bounce on the last one and bowls a touch short again. This one sits up to be hit. Faf goes back and slaps it through cover-point. The ball races away.
5.3 : 5.3: S Afridi to du Plessis, OUT! Afridi gets his 3rd of the day. It's the South African skipper the man dismissed. Full outside off, the ball moves away slightly after pitching. Faf du Plessis goes after it with minimal foot movement. He only gets an edge on it and the ball goes straight to Sarfraz who takes the second catch of the evening. South Africa need 175 more runs to win.

14.2 : 14.2: S Khan to D Miller, OUT! Killer Miller is out of here! Excellent bowling change by Sarfraz Ahmed as Shadab strikes on his second ball. Huge wicket and timely too as this partnership threatened to take the game away from Pakistan. This is tossed up outside off, Miller lunges and then looks to drive but the ball turns back in and goes off the inner half. Since he went hard at it, it carries towards short mid-wicket where Imam hangs onto it. Miller walks back after getting a start, South Afri
14.3 : 14.3: S Khan to H Klaasen, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! Two in two for Shadab. Why wasn't he introduced earlier into the attack? Nevertheless, he is weaving his magic here and now Pakistan are on top courtesy the leggie. Klaasen bags a golden duck. The flipper and on off, Klaasen goes back to a ball which he should have come ahead to. The ball skids through. Klaasen fails to bring his bat down and it hits the off pole. The Pakistan players are ecstatic. Half the side back in the hut for South Africa.

23.6 : 23.6: M Hafeez to A Phehlukwayo, SIX! Two in the over! Phehlukwayo is playing a gem here. He once again uses his feet and gets to the pitch of the ball. This time hits it over the long off fence for a maximum. 13 in the over, probably the on which changes the momentum. 81 more needed for the hosts.
26.3 : 26.3: S Afridi to van der Dussen, FOUR! CRACKED AWAY! Back-to-back half tons for Rassie van der Dussen. What a start to his international career. Also, this one is a crucial as it has come when his team really needed him to be out there. He has soaked in all the pressure and has played a knock of huge character. He stands tall and pulls this delivery with authority through square leg and the ball races away. He needs to continue though, the partnership also needs to continue as it just reached
28.3: S Khan to A Phehlukwayo, FOUR! Misfield! Poor, this is just not acceptable, especially at this stage of the game. Phehlukwayo uses his feet and strokes it towards mid off. Afridi there fails to get down in time, it goes through his legs and into the fence.
