Match over
2.1 : 2.1: B Kumar to H Amla, FOUR! Caressed! Lovely by Amla. Length and around off, Amla plays it late, opens the face of the bat and guides it past point for a boundary. First of the game.
3.2 : 3.2: J Bumrah to H Amla, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Bumrah draws first blood! This was coming, right? The way he was bowling, a wicket was surely due. He continues bowling this on a length and around off, once again the ball bounces a touch extra. Amla goes back and tries to defend but does not get on top of the bounce. It hits the higher portion of the outside edge and goes straight to Rohit Sharma at second slip. Early breakthrough for India, just the start they would have wanted.
3.3 : 3.3: J Bumrah to du Plessis, FOUR! Bumrah almost got another! That has just gone past the leg stump. Full and just outside off, Faf leans into it and looks to hit it through the off side but the ball hits the inside edge. Almost kisses the leg pole and races to the fine leg fence. He is off the mark with a boundary but a fortunate one.
4.1 : 4.1: B Kumar to de Kock, FOUR! EDGY! South Africa won't mind though. Length and on the leg pole, it is moving away. De Kock looks to work it on the leg side but due to the away movement, it goes off the leading edge and down to third man for a boundary.
5.5 : 5.5: J Bumrah to de Kock, OUT! Bumrah gets his man! He is on fire here! Both the openers back in the hut within Powerplay 1. Loose shot to be honest this one. The length is just behind a driving one and it is outside off. De Kock goes hard at it and away from the body. The ball catches the outside edge and goes quickly to third slip where Kohli takes a sharp catch. Quinton usually does well against India and has been in superb form of late also. But he departs cheaply today leaving his team in t
6.6 : 6.6: B Kumar to du Plessis, FOUR! Nope, poor ball to end the over! This is angled onto the pads, Faf works it through mid-wicket and bags a boundary.
13.6: K Yadav to van der Dussen, FOUR! Bad ball to end and it has been slapped away! Short and outside off, Rassie goes back and hammers it through covers for a boundary.
14.3 : 14.3: H Pandya to du Plessis, FOUR! Streaky! Hardik offers width outside off, du Plessis decides to slam it over point but it finds the outside edge and flies down to third man. The fielder in the deep is quite square and hence it's a boundary.
15.4 : 15.4: K Yadav to du Plessis, FOUR! Misfiled and a welcome boundary for South Africa. Faf du Plessis sweeps it through mid-wicket. Kumar in the deep runs to his right and then looks to stop it with a dive but the ball hits his hand and goes behind for a boundary.
19.1 : 19.1: Y Chahal to van der Dussen, OUT! TIMBER! Chahal breaks the stand! The innovation does not come off. Rassie looks to play the reverse sweep but Chahal bowls it slightly down the leg side. He misses. The ball turns back in and then hits the stumps. Rassie ended up playing all around that and it looked ugly in the end. He walks back after getting a start. South Africa would have wanted him to continue. India continue to stay on top.
19.6 : 19.6: Y Chahal to du Plessis, OUT! KABOOM! That has gone right through Faf's defenses. Two in the over for Chahal! This though is a huge one. The slider does the trick this time. It is on off and skids through again. Faf lunges and looks to defend but leaves the slightest of gaps between bat and pad. The ball hits the pads and then deflects onto the off pole. The Indians are ecstatic. South Africa slip further.
22.6: K Yadav to JP Duminy, OUT! Three reds and Duminy has to take the long walk back! He takes a review along with him. Kuldeep now is amongst the wickets as well. The slider does the trick for him too. Duminy also misreads the length here. It is bowled on middle, Duminy goes back when he should have been coming forward. The ball straightens after landing and hits the front pad. An appeal is made and the umpire raises his finger this time. JP after a chat with his partner, takes the review. Rep
23.4 : 23.4: Y Chahal to A Phehlukwayo, FOUR! Innovation this time comes off for a South African batsman. Phehlukwayo plays the reverse sweep and he hits it nicely, over point for a boundary.
28.5 : 28.5: J Bumrah to D Miller, FOUR! A welcome boundary for South Africa. Good shot as he plays it against the angle. On middle, Miller shuffles across and works it through mid-wicket.
33.3 : 33.3: K Jadhav to A Phehlukwayo, FOUR! Up and over! Much-needed for South Africa. Andile dances down the track and also makes room. He gets to the pitch of it and whacks it over covers for a boundary.
35.3: Y Chahal to D Miller, OUT! Caught and bowled! Chahal returns and strikes straightaway! Good captaincy by Kohli to bring him back on. He has really impressed today with the way he has captained. Chahal floats this up on off, once again it is very full. It bounces just before the bat of Miller who looks to drive it down the ground. He ends up chipping it straight to the bowler who accepts a dolly. Body blow for South Africa as their hopes of getting to a competitive was pinned on Miller. 200
38.2 : 38.2: K Yadav to A Phehlukwayo, SIX! That has gone all the way! First of the game and it comes from the bat of Phehlukwayo. Needed to time it well as it is a big ground. This is very full and on middle, Phehlukwayo clears his front leg and lofts it over the long on stand. 150 up. 11 overs to go after this. How many more can South Africa add?
39.3 : 39.3: Y Chahal to A Phehlukwayo, OUT! STUMPED! End of Phehlukwayo. He was going after everything and perishes in the attempt. Into the bowlers now are India. Andile once again makes room but this time also comes down the track. Chahal follows him and also bowls it slower. Phehlukwayo looks to go big but the ball turns back in. Beats the inside edge. Dhoni does well behind the stumps. He moves to his right, collects it in the second attempt and quickly whips the bails off. Fourth for Chahal.
41.1 : 41.1: Y Chahal to C Morris, SIX! A half-tracker and Morris pounces on it. He goes back and pulls it hard and well over the square leg fence. South Africa would love a few more of these.
42.6 : 42.6: H Pandya to K Rabada, FOUR! How good was that shot? That has gone to the fence in a jiffy. Pandya bangs it short again, this time it comes at a good height for the batsman. Rabada whips it through mid-wicket and it races away. Spoils the over. 9 from this as well.
43.4 : 43.4: Y Chahal to C Morris, SIX! What a cracking sound of the bat meeting the ball! It was six from the moment it left the blade. Slightly short and on middle, Morris gets onto the back foot quickly and pulls it over the mid-wicket fence. These are very handy runs for South Africa.
46.2 : 46.2: J Bumrah to C Morris, FOUR! Crunched! Morris makes room and Bumrah bowls a low full toss. Morris creams it past mid off and the ball races away.
48.5 : 48.5: J Bumrah to K Rabada, FOUR! Beautiful shot! Welcome boundary again for South Africa. A full toss on off, Kagiso shows a straight bat and hits it past mid off.
49.2 : 49.2: B Kumar to C Morris, OUT! Morris holes out! End of a very good and important innings from him. He perishes in the attempt to find the fence. Full and outside off. Morris hits it hard but fails to get the elevation he would have wanted. Kohli at long off runs in and takes a good catch.
49.6 : 49.6: B Kumar to I Tahir, OUT! Kumar gets his second of the over! He bangs it short and into the body of Tahir. He looks to flat-bat it but it goes off the top edge towards cover where Jadhav takes a simple catch. Two wickets and just three from the last over. SOUTH AFRICA END ON 227/9!
2.5 : 2.5: C Morris to S Dhawan, FOUR! This was too easy! Short and on the body, bounces at a good height for the batter. Dhawan pulls it through square leg and bags the first boundary of the innings.
5.1 : 5.1: K Rabada to S Dhawan, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Dhawan is out of here. A well-deserved wicket for Rabada. He could have easily had two by now but has to be happy with one at the moment. It is a length ball and on off, it angles away. Dhawan looks to defend it off the back foot but due to the angle, the ball kisses the outside edge and goes into the gloves of de Kock. The South Africans are pumped up. Early wicket for them, just what they wanted.
7.3 : 7.3: K Rabada to R Sharma, SIX! Brilliant shot by Rohit Sharma! Just used the pace of the bowler brilliantly. It is short and on the body, Sharma helps its way and clears the backward square leg fence with ease.
7.4 : 7.4: K Rabada to R Sharma, FOUR! That biggie has probably got Rohit going! He now opens the face of the bat and guides it down to the third man fence. No fielder there so a boundary. 10 from the last two balls. Momentum shifting now.
7.6 : 7.6: K Rabada to R Sharma, FOUR! CRUNCHED! Rohit has got into his own now. Short and wide outside off, Sharma stands tall and slashes it past point for a boundary. 15 from the over, all the pressure that was building has been released.
15.2 : 15.2: A Phehlukwayo to V Kohli, FOUR! A little short and Kohli gets onto it quickly. He rocks back and pulls it, not off the middle but still hit well enough for the ball to race away to the fence.
15.3 : 15.3: A Phehlukwayo to V Kohli, OUT! WHAT A CATCH THAT IS! Quinton de Kock, you beauty! Efforts like these, not only get you a wicket but surely lift the morale of the team. A huge, huge wicket for South Africa. They have India's best batsman, Virat Kohli. Not a great delivery this. It is short and wide outside off. Kohli looks to guide it down to third man but the extra bounce means the outside edge is taken. It lobs to the right of de Kock who flies like Superman and takes it with one hand. Th
16.1 : 16.1: I Tahir to R Sharma, FOUR! Poor delivery! It is short and asking to be hit. Rohit goes back and pulls this through square leg for a boundary.
19.1: A Phehlukwayo to KL Rahul, FOUR! That's a fine shot! A gentle medium pace delivery, full and on middle, Rahul brings down a straight bat and sweetly punches it down the ground for a glorious boundary.
19.5 : 19.5: A Phehlukwayo to R Sharma, FOUR! Rohit just loves playing square of the wicket on both sides. This one is short and wide outside off, Sharma camps back and whacks it through point. The sweeper fielder gets across to his left but fails to cut it off.
22.2 : 22.2: T Shamsi to R Sharma, SIX! Rohit has dumped this one into the mid-wicket stand. Fancy footwork shown by the Hitman! He hurries down to the pitch of the delivery and sends it packing. High and handsome.
25.5 : 25.5: C Morris to KL Rahul, FOUR! Wrong line and length, and Morris is punished. 100 comes up for India with that shot. Back of a length delivery on middle and leg, Rahul swivels on the back foot with the pull shot, just uses the pace of the bowler and helps it down to fine leg. The fielder in the deep tries his best with a dive but it goes under him to find the fence.
26.2 : 26.2: T Shamsi to R Sharma, FOUR! Really a bad delivery, full and way down the leg side, further spinning down, Rohit sits down on one knee and has no qualms in sweeping it behind square for a boundary. 50-run stand comes up!
26.5 : 26.5: T Shamsi to R Sharma, FOUR! Lovely touch! Waited and waited and got plenty of bat on his square cut. Good awareness from Sharma. He picks the short ball early, spots his area, knew where the fielders are square of the wicket and places his shot to perfection behind point.
28.5: I Tahir to R Sharma, FOUR! You just cannot afford to bowl there to this batsman. He will hit you every single time, even in his sleep. Tahir serves it short and wide outside off, Rohit latches onto it and smacks it behind point.
29.4 : 29.4: K Rabada to R Sharma, FOUR! Beauty, just beauty! A front foot pull shot is such a delight to watch. Ricky Ponting made that famous and Rohit is just carrying the legacy forward. Rabada digs in a short ball on off, Rohit picks the length in a trice and pulls it handsomely over mid-wicket. The fielder in the deep fails to get to it. 100 needed more!
30.1 : 30.1: I Tahir to R Sharma, FOUR! Sliced away! Opens the face just at the end. Rohit leans into it and carves it behind square on the off side and it races away to the fence. Runs leaking now.
31.3 : 31.3: K Rabada to KL Rahul, OUT! Rabada strikes to remove Rahul. The 85-run stand has been broken. Can South Africa still believe? They have another 88 runs to play with. A fuller length ball around off, speared in at 137 kph, it probably holds up a bit after landing and Rahul is early into his shot. He ends up chipping it in the air and du Plessis takes the simplest of catches at mid off. A good responsible knock under pressure by KL but he would have loved to stay till the end and make his sta
36.5 : 36.5: A Phehlukwayo to R Sharma, FOUR! Slapped down the ground! Back of a length delivery outside off, Rohit rocks on the back foot and flat-bats it to the long off fence. A bit like a tennis forehand, would have been handy in the French Open going on!
37.6 : 37.6: C Morris to MS Dhoni, FOUR! Boom! Morris bangs in a short ball on middle, Dhoni stands tall to get on top of the bounce and plays a rocketing pull shot through square leg for a boundary.
42.2 : 42.2: T Shamsi to MS Dhoni, FOUR! Not from the middle of the bat but there is no protection in the deep on the off side and it has trickled past the rope. Shamsi is on the shorter side and Dhoni has slapped it through the line.
42.4 : 42.4: T Shamsi to R Sharma, FOUR! Brilliantly done. Rohit kneels down, fetches a full ball from wide outside off and sweeps it behind square leg. It speeds away past the fielder inside the ring and finds the fence.
43.4: K Rabada to R Sharma, FOUR! And Rohit just rubs it in with a boundary. Short ball outside off, Rohit sits on the back foot and ramps it over the keeper for a boundary.
44.4: I Tahir to R Sharma, FOUR! Superb execution again from Rohit Sharma. Receives a full ball on middle and immediately goes down on one knee to sweep it sweetly through square leg. The umpire standing there lifts his right leg and makes way for the racing ball.
46.1 : 46.1: C Morris to MS Dhoni, OUT! The finisher, Dhoni, walks back before finishing the game. However, his partnership with Rohit Sharma has taken India to the brink of victory. South Africa on the other hand, finally hang onto one. Morris bowls the slower one outside off, Dhoni looks to go big but is done in by the pace. He ends up hitting it high up in the air towards the bowler's end. Morris calls for it and takes. Collides with the stumps and falls over after taking the catch. Something to re
46.4 : 46.4: C Morris to H Pandya, FOUR! Off the mark in style! Short and outside off, Hardik stands tall and slashes it past point and it races away to the fence. 10 needed now.
46.5 : 46.5: C Morris to H Pandya, FOUR! Make that 6! Through the leg side this time. Pandya stands tall and takes on the challenge of pulling this short ball. Does it very fine and hits it through mid-wicket for a boundary. He wants to end it in a hurry.
47.3 : 47.3: A Phehlukwayo to H Pandya, FOUR! Hardik Pandya finishes it off in style! Slightly short and outside off, he cuts it through point. No chance for Tahir this time. Customary handshakes taking place as INDIA WIN BY 6 WICKETS!
