Match over
0.1 : 0.1: U Yadav to Brathwaite, FOUR! A loosener to start. On the pads, Brathwaite just tickles it fine past the keeper and gets Windies going with a boundary to fine leg.
0.4 : 0.4: U Yadav to Brathwaite, FOUR! A half volley on the pads, Brathwaite flicks it uppishly, just wide of mid-wicket and earns the second boundary of the innings.
3.2 : 3.2: S Thakur to Powell, FOUR! A bit streaky. On a length outside off, Powell looks to defend with an open bat-face and the ball runs off the outside edge, behind point and races to the third man fence. Prithvi Shaw gives it a good chase from backward point and then tries to dive at the last moment, near the ropes but collides into the advertisement boards instead. He gets up gingerly, holding his right shoulder but seems fine.
3.4 : 3.4: S Thakur to Powell, FOUR! JUST OVER! A taller man would have taken that. Full and wide outside off, Powell reaches out to drive and ends up slicing it. The ball is in the air, towards backward point where Prithvi Shaw leaps but his height just does not allow him to get anywhere near the ball.
3.6 : 3.6: R Ashwin to Powell, FOUR! THRASH! No half measures. Tossed up slightly, around off Powell, confident after his previous knock in Rajkot, steps out of the crease. Gets to the pitch of the ball and dismisses it from his presence, by bashing it over the non-striker. Mid on has no chance.
8.3 : 8.3: U Yadav to Powell, EDGED, FOUR! A bit streaky from Powell again. Full and wide outside off, the southpaw looks to drive but gets a thick outside edge. It flies between gully and point and races to the third man fence.
11.1 : 11.1: R Ashwin to Powell, OUT! Caught. Ashwin strikes first. In just his 4th over. Tossed up outside off, Powell comes down the track and looks to go over cover. However, Ashwin has smartly bowled it wider, hence the southpaw has to reach out. Cannot quite time it well and all Ravindra Jadeja has to do at cover is to make a slight leap. Simple catch. The approach to attack the spinner is okay but the pre-meditation cost Powell his wicket. Also, was there any need to go aerial so early?
12.5 : 12.5: K Yadav to S Hope, FOUR! ELEGANT! Excellent timing from Hope. Overpitched outside off, Hope leans and drives it wide of mid off and gets a boundary. Strangely, Kohli pushes the man back immediately. Hope is off the mark in grand style.
22.2 : 22.2: K Yadav to S Hope, FOUR! THUMP! Spare a thought for Prithi Shaw at short leg. It is a long hop and Hope pulls it with aplomb, just over Shaw and gets a boundary to deep mid-wicket.
22.5 : 22.5: Yadav to Brathwaite, OUT! LBW! As plumb as it gets. Waste of a review. Perhaps Brathwaite expected another googly but this time it was a leg spinner. He went slightly across to defend this flighted ball but could not quite cover the line. The ball missed the bat and then came back in slightly to hit the back pad, right in front of off stump. Kuldeep appeals and umpire Gould sends Brathwaite on his way. He is happy to go but his partner reckons that he should review that - perhaps he felt t
25.6 : 25.6: U Yadav to Hetmyer, FOUR! No ball movement, no feet movement, just pure hand-eye co-ordination. A length ball, wide outside off, Hetmyer just reaches out for that and hits it through the covers. India will not mind that much.
27.3 : 27.3: U Yadav to Hope, FOUR! Fine shot. Fractionally short in length, outside off, Hope stands tall and punches it through the covers for a boundary! Moves to 22 with his third boundary.
28.4 : 28.4: R Jadeja to Hetmyer, FOUR! Timing! Slightly short outside off, Hetmyer punches it through the covers and gets a boundary!
29.2 : 29.2: U Yadav to Hope, FOUR! Great timing once again. Slightly short outside off, Hope gets on top of the bounce and punches it through point for a boundary. Moves to 32 with his fourth boundary.
31.2: U Yadav to S Hope, FOUR! FABULOUS! Overpitched outside off, slightly wide, Hope leans and drives it wide of mid off. Prithvi Shaw dives to his left but in vain.
31.3 : 31.3: U Yadav to Hope, OUT! Number 3 down! The best batsman of the session has been dismissed on what is now the final ball of the period. A length ball, around off, coming in, Hope gets across to tuck it away but misses and is hit on the pads, beaten by the pace on that ball. Umesh appeals, umpire Oxenford thinks for a while and this time, raises his finger. Hope wants a review but Hawk Eye shows all three reds - which means WINDIES GO INTO LUNCH AT 86/3! Both reviews are lost too...
33.6 : 33.6: U Yadav to Ambris, FOUR! Great timing! On the pads, Ambris just uses his wrists and flicks it through mid-wicket for a boundary.
34.1 : 34.1: K Yadav to Hetmyer, OUT! Dead duck. Hetmyer was never comfortable against spin and it has been his undoing again. Floated outside off, Shimron thinks that it is a leg spinner and decides to shoulder arms. But to his horror, it is the googly. It comes back in and hits him slightly outside off. But impact does not matter when one has not offered a shot. Crashing into the stumps, as per Hawk Eye.
35.6 : 35.6: U Yadav to Chase, FOUR! Full on middle, Chase flicks it through mid-wicket and gets a boundary!
37.2 : 37.2: U Yadav to Ambris, FOUR! Poor line. Down the leg side, Ambris tucks it through fine leg and gets a boundary.
38.2: K Yadav to Ambris, FOUR! Risky but effective! Yadav tosses this up in the air and lands it fuller on off. It spins back in a bit after landing as Ambris dances down the track to heave it across the line. It though comes off from the toe end of his bat and flies past the right side of the mid on fielder.
38.5 : 38.5: K Yadav to Ambris, OUT! Ambris throws it away. His ultra aggressive approach has brought his downfall. Kuldeep was bowling quite a few googlies post the Lunch break and this time has struck. Ambris fails to read the variation as once again he tries to attack the spinner. Goes hard at it but the ball spins away to take the leading edge. It loops up to Jadeja at extra cover and he is not dropping these simple catches even in his sleep. Windies continue to slip.
40.3 : 40.3: K Yadav to S Dowrich, FOUR! Nicely driven! Yadav tosses it up in the air and lands it full around off, Dowrich gets close to the line and drills his drive through mid off for a boundary.
41.4 : 41.4: R Jadeja to Chase, SIX! High and handsome! It has been a conscious effort by the Windies batsmen to attack the spinners. With wickets tumbling, not sure how good a strategy is this. Jadeja bowls it on middle and it skids through the surface. Chase clears his front leg and powers it over mid-wicket for a maximum.
43.2 : 43.2: R Jadeja to Chase, FOUR! A rare bad delivery by Jadeja. He offers a short delivery wide outside off, Chase goes deep inside the crease to this one and cracks his square cut for a boundary.
44.1 : 44.1: K Yadav to Chase, FOUR! Poor start to the over by Kuldeep. He darts it down the leg side, spinning further down, Chase uses his wrists to good effect as he tickles it fine down the leg side for a boundary. 50 runs have come in this session already, so Windies are scoring at a good rate in spite of losing half their side. Attack is the best form of defense, living up to that cliche.
45.3 : 45.3: R Jadeja to Chase, FOUR! At least one boundary is coming in every over. Kuldeep dishes out a flighted full ball outside off, Chase is a tall man and he uses his reach well. Latches onto it and muscles his drive through covers. The silly point fielder does well there to jump and avoid getting hit.
46.1 : 46.1: K Yadav to Dowrich, FOUR! Boundaries continue to flow. Kuldeep gives this one extra air but lands it too full outside off. Roston takes a big stride forward and crunches his drive through covers.
51.6 : 51.6: R Ashwin to Dowrich, FOUR! Cashes in on a loose delivery. Ashwin bowls it quite wide outside off, allowing Dowrich the room to play a square drive. He has nailed it through the gap at point and fetches a boundary for himself. Good going by Windies!
55.6: R Ashwin to Dowrich, FOUR! Poor delivery and punished. Ashwin drags his length short and serves it well wide outside off. Dowrich's eyes lit up seeing the width and he goes back to have a real crack at it. Plays the square cut, doesn't bother to keep it down and it races through cover-point. There was a point fielder but he didn't even react.
58.6: R Jadeja to Dowrich, SIX! Excellent shot! Jadeja delivers it full and in line of the stumps, since it's not spinning much, Dowrich takes a chance. He plonks it front leg out of the way and launches it over long on for a maximum.
59.3 : 59.3: U Yadav to Dowrich, OUT! What a review! India have hit the jackpot to break the 69-run stand. To be honest, it never looked out to the naked eye. We thought it would have been missing leg but the replays prove all of us and the umpire wrong. Yadav gets a full length ball to nip back into the batsman from around off. Dowrich fails to flick it and is rapped on the pads. They appeal but the umpire disagrees. The Indian skipper has a chat with his bowler and the keeper before taking the DRS. T
61.4 : 61.4: U Yadav to Holder, FOUR! Well timed and placed! A back of a length delivery outside off, Holder sticks inside the crease and punches it square of the wicket on the off side. Ashwin ambles across to his right from third man but only to retrieve the ball from the rope.
64.6 : 64.6: R Jadeja to Holder, FOUR! What a way to end the session! Jadeja gives this one some extra air but lands it too full and close to off stump. Holder leans forward, makes some room and drives it crisply through the gap at extra cover. No chance for mid off there. A boundary for Holder. That will be Tea on Day 1!
66.5 : 66.5: K Yadav to R Chase, FOUR! Solidly hit! A flighted delivery landing very full outside off. Spinning in after landing and Chase drives it firmly against the spin but finds the gap at covers for a boundary.
67.2 : 67.2: U Yadav to J Holder, FOUR! Thumped! Yadav overpitches this outside off, Holder just eases into his front foot drive and spears it through covers for a boundary. Pujara chases it but fails to pull it back.
68.3 : 68.3: K Yadav to Chase, FOUR! Strong shot! Too full in length by Kuldeep, around off, Chase uses his long reach well and drills his drive down through mid off for a cracking boundary.
74.3: K Yadav to Holder, FOUR! Beautiful shot! It's a wide half-volley outside off, Holder uses his reach well and drives it with authority through covers. No fielder in the deep and it's a boundary.
75.3: R Ashwin to Holder, FOUR! Clipped away! Wrong line from Ashwin. He delivers a flighted ball on the pads, Holder accepts the gift gleefully and neatly deflects it fine down the leg side for a boundary. 50-run stand comes up, consecutive ones in this innings.
83.4 : 83.4: R Ashwin to Chase, Short and outside off, turning back in, Chase quickly transfers his weight on the back foot and punches it with a lot of power to the deep cover fence. A fact - India have not bowled a single maiden over since the 40th over.
87.6 : 87.6: U Yadav to J Holder, FOUR! Holder reaches his 8th Test fifty in some style. He greets the short delivery by Yadav with open arms. Makes space for his pull shot and nails it through mid-wicket for a boundary. A very responsible knock by the skipper as he continues with his growth in international cricket. His batting has improved by leaps and bounds in the recent past. Windies in control currently.
89.6: U Yadav to Holder, OUT! Here comes the breakthrough for India. Umesh has struck with a short delivery to break the century stand. It's around the batsman's rib cage, Holder feels that he has it covered as he goes for the pull shot. But the Windies skipper fails to middle it and ends up gloving it behind. Pant catches the ball, they appeal and Holder is seen walking. Getting strangled down the leg side is not the prettiest way to get out. Virat Kohli, as usual, is pumped up.
95.6: U Yadav to Bishoo, OUT! The stumps are a mess. India strike in the very first over of Day 2. Umesh pitches it right up to the batsman but the line is outside off. Bishoo could have left it alone but is a bit tentative as he has a prod. Gets an inside edge which statters the stumps. Wicket number 4 for Umesh. Can he get 5?
96.3 : 96.3: K Yadav to Warrican, SIX! THUNDEROUS! Just one block and the next one is whacked. These men from the Caribbean... Tossed up outside off, the googly, Warrican gets down and slogs it over long on! 300 UP FOR THE WINDIES!
97.3: U Yadav to R Chase, BOTTOM EDGE, FOUR! Another sign of the ball staying low. A touch short, outside off, Chase throws his bat at it but gets beaten by the lack of bounce. The ball takes the bottom edge and goes onto the ground behind. Rishabh Pant dives to his right, but the ball just brushes his outstretched glove and races to the third man fence. The stand is now worth 11 from 9 balls.
101.3: U Yadav to Chase, OUT! Right through the gate! UMESH HAS HIS SECOND TEST 5-FER. First at home. Beautiful bowling to get that wicket. Umesh lands this on a good length on middle and off and gets conventional swing with appreciable movement. Chase is a tad lazy in trying to defend and the ball goes right through bat and pad. Timber. Well played, Mr. Chase. You have given your team something to bowl at.
101.4 : 101.4: U Yadav to Gabriel, OUT! Caught behind and Umesh now has his best Test figures. A 6-fer. Bizarre dismissal though. Full and wide outside off, Gabriel initially thinks about letting it go. But then as an afterthought, he feels to have a poke at it. Gets a thick outside edge straight to Rishabh Pant. Now Gabriel smiles, thinking about the review but he is informed that there is none left. WINDIES BOWLED OUT FOR 311!
0.4 : 0.4: S Gabriel to Shaw, FOUR! Excellent shot to get off the mark! On a length outside off, Shaw leaps with the bounce and guides it behind gully to third man!
0.5 : 0.5: S Gabriel to Shaw, NO BALL, SIX! Extra effort from Gabriel and he oversteps. Then bowls a long hop, wide outside off. Shaw latches onto it and flays hard. Gets it over third man! The deficit is now 297.
1.4 : 1.4: J Holder to Shaw, No ball and FOUR! Full and swinging away from outside off, Shaw reaches out to it and plays it off the outer half between the slip cordon and gully. Away to the fence she goes. No ball also signalled as Holder overstepped on that occasion.
3.1 : 3.1: J Holder to Shaw, FOUR! Shot. As good as they come. Full and swinging away from around off, Shaw opens his body up a bit, along with the bat face, and drives it neatly through cover-point to fine the fence.
4.6 : 4.6: S Gabriel to Shaw, FOUR! Inconsistent with the line again and he's paid the price. On the pads, Shaw comfortably flicks it away through backward square leg, beating fine leg who tries to cut it off.
6.3 : 6.3: J Holder to Shaw, FOUR! Too full, too straight. Shaw moves inside the line and flicks it ever so well through the gap in the mid-wicket area. Beautifully played, no stopping that.
7.2 : 7.2: J Warrican to Shaw, FOUR! Takes the aerial route and gets the desired result. Tossed up delivery on off, Shaw decides to take this on. Gets low and slog sweeps it over mid-wicket for a one-bounce boundary. The 50 is up for India with this.
7.3 : 7.3: J Warrican to Shaw, FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries! Goes the other side this time. Shaw opens his body up to this flighted delivery and drives it through the covers for another boundary.
7.4 : 7.4: J Warrican to P Shaw, FOUR! Make that number 3. Though, this is a result of some poor fielding from the Windies skipper. Shaw drives it to the left of mid off. Holder moves quickly but can't get low to stop the ball. Lets it through to the fence behind.
8.4: J Holder to Rahul, OUT! Rahul's troubles finally come to an end. He wasn't looking as assured as his partner, pays the price for it. Short of a length just outside off, Rahul is in two minds about what to do. He initially wants to play but then decides to leave it late. The ball takes the inside edge and disturbs the bails. First wicket down for India, against the run of play.
11.4: J Warrican to Pujara, FOUR! Good use of the feet from Cheteshwar Pujara. Good shot. Dances down to get close to the pitch and drives it past mid on to send it across the boundary line.
15.3 : 15.3: J Warrican to Pujara, FOUR! Superb from Pujara. Great timing. Fractionally short outside off, the right-hander goes back and punches it between cover and point. Devendra Bishoo gives it a good chase from cover but comes second best.
17.1 : 17.1: S Gabriel to Shaw, FOUR! Smart batting. Very full outside off, almost a yorker, Shaw just squeezes it past second slip towards third man! The deficit is now 226.
17.5 : 17.5: S Gabriel to P Shaw, FOUR! FANTASTIC! Full and wide outside off, Shaw leans and drives it through the covers. Not a soul moves! The young lad has moved to 63 now, in just 48 balls! 10 fours, 1 six.
18.3 : 18.3: J Warrican to Shaw, FOUR! FLAMBOYANT! Full and outside off, Shaw leans and drives it wide of mid off for a boundary!
18.4 : 18.4: J Warrican to P Shaw, OUT! He has thrown it away! Shaw will be gutted with himself. A loose shot in a nearly flawless innings. Full and outside off, a bit tossed up, a bit wide, Shaw cannot resist and goes hard on the drive. Cannot keep it down and finds Shimron Hetmyer at extra cover. You can look at this shot in two ways - a. Oh Shaw! What have you done? Or b. Well played, Shaw. You have again given India a motoring start. The dressing room stands up and applauds the youngster. How will
19.6 : 19.6: S Gabriel to Pujara, OUT! Caught behind! There you go - one wicket brings another! Big blow by Gabriel. He lands it on a length outside off, but it is wide enough to be left alone. Pujara though, wants to have a poke and gets a thin edge behind, because the footwork is not the greatest. He was reaching for the ball. Substitute keeper Hamilton collects and straightaway appeals. Gabriel does not even bother appealing but someone has, hence the umpire raises his finger! India trail by 209. Ha
20.2 : 20.2: J Warrican to Kohli, MISFIELD, FOUR! Full on middle, Kohli drives it towards mid on who should have well, stopped it but he puts in a lazy dive. He misses the ball and it is the first boundary for the Indian skipper.
21.2: S Gabriel to V Kohli, FOUR! GORGEOUS! So good to the eye. Half volley outside off, a touch wide, Kohli leans and drives it through the covers for a boundary! His second in 4 balls. Moves to 12 from 10 balls.
21.5 : 21.5: S Gabriel to Rahane, FOUR! GLORIOUS! Full toss outside off, Rahane leans and drives it through the covers for a boundary! Immediately a man is placed at sweeper cover.
33.6 : 33.6: D Bishoo to Kohli, FOUR! A boundary after almost 12 overs. It's quite full, so Kohli comes well ahead and hammers this straight back past the bowler to find the fence.
35.1 : 35.1: D Bishoo to Kohli, FOUR! Shot. A shade on the shorter side from Bishoo with a little bit of room as well, Kohli plays this really late as he goes back and cuts it past short third man for a boundary.
37.5 : 37.5: D Bishoo to Kohli, FOUR! The 50-run stand is up with this. A misfield helps with that. Virat Kohli goes on the back foot and whips it to mid on. Keemo Paul (sub) moves to his right to stop it but it goes through him. A boundary results.
42.5: J Holder to Kohli, OUT! It's umpire's call and the on-field decision stays. Jason Holder gets the big fish after bringing himself back into the attack. This length delivery cuts back in and catches Kohli on the front pad. Loud shout and the finger goes up. Virat, after speaking with his partner, takes the review. It goes upstairs and replays show the ball to be clipping the leg stump. So, he's gone. Timely strike for the tourists.
44.1 : 44.1: J Holder to R Pant, FOUR! Played that with soft hands, which was the key. Length delivery outside off from around the wicket, Pant leans ahead and with a slightly opened face places it between the slip cordon and gully for a boundary.
45.5 : 45.5: D Bishoo to Pant, FOUR! Nicely done! Slightly short outside off, Pant waits for the ball to come to him and then deftly guides it past gully to the third man fence! The stand is worth 11 and the deficit is down to 138.
48.6 : 48.6: J Holder to A Rahane, FOUR! Flashed and flashed hard! No stopping this one. Short and wide outside off, Rahane throws his bat at that and gets it over gully to the third man fence!
49.4 : 49.4: R Chase to Pant, FOUR! THWACK! That is the way he plays. Full and wide outside off, Pant reaches out and crashes it wide of long off for a boundary! The deficit is now 128. Pant moves to 13 from 20 balls with his third boundary while the stand is worth 21.
52.3 : 52.3: J Holder to Pant, FOUR! Fine shot. Down the leg side, Pant flicks this uppishly behind square leg and gets a boundary! The stand is worth 32 while the deficit is down to 117.
54.3: S Gabriel to R Pant, EDGED, DROPPED, FOUR! Poor keeping from the substitute and the Indian wicket-keeper batsman gets a life. Short and wide outside off, Pant throws his bat at it but the feet do not move much. As a result, he gets a thick outside edge. Jahmar Hamilton, the stand-in keeper for Shane Dowrich, makes half an attempt to his left but the ball bursts through his gloves to the third man fence. Poor Gabriel... Meanwhile, 200 comes up for India.
57.5 : 57.5: R Chase to Pant, MISFIELD, FOUR! Short and outside off, Pant cuts it straight to point who simply does not get behind the line of the ball. It goes through and it is a boundary. 50-RUN STAND IS UP. The deficit is now down to double figures.
58.4 : 58.4: S Gabriel to Rahane, MISFIELD, FOUR! Though this time, the fielder is not at fault. Full and outside off, Rahane punches it down the ground, just past the stumps at the other end. Roston Chase slides from mid on to his left but at the last moment, just when the slide comes, the ball bounces over his hands!
59.4: D Bishoo to Pant, FOUR! Cheeky! Landed outside off, Pant waits for the ball to come to him and dabs it past backward point!
59.5 : 59.5: D Bishoo to Pant, UPPISH, SHORT AND FOUR! Hetmyer is the fielder. Full and outside off, Pant gets down and mows the slog sweep. Initially, it seems like Shimron Hetmyer at long on has a chance but the ball dips on him and in the end, he is not able to get to the ball. Worse, it slips past him to the fence behind.
60.4 : 60.4: S Gabriel to Rahane, FOUR! Easy runs. On the pads and all Ajinkya Rahane to do was get something on it. He did and the ball raced away to the fine leg boundary.
61.3 : 61.3: D Bishoo to Pant, FOUR! Beautiful placement from Rishabh Pant. Tossed right up there on middle, Pant gets low, rolls his wrists over the ball and sweeps it wide of short fine leg. It races away to the fence for a boundary.
69.2 : 69.2: D Bishoo to Pant, FOUR! BANG! That's hammered. Tossed up, a lot of flight and Pant is enticed. He gives it the full swing of the bat and beats mid off easily to the fence.
72.2: J Warrican to Pant, MISTIMED, BUT SIX! Full and around off, Pant gets down and looks to mow. He is not able to get to the pitch of the ball and miscues it. It is high in the air, seems to have got more elevation than distance but just about clears long on.
72.3 : 72.3: J Warrican to Pant, SIX! TONK! This is a much better hit. Boy, he is going for that century today. Warrican has enough courage to toss the ball up and once again, Pant puts his dancing shoes on. This time he gets to the pitch of the ball and swings it over mid-wicket. The deficit is now 26 while the stand is worth 123.
74.4 : 74.4: J Warrican to Rahane, FOUR! Not a bad result for India, but perhaps Pant fans will not like that. A tad short, Rahane goes back and works it through mid-wicket. Square leg and mid-wicket look at each other as to who should go and retrieve and in the end, both go for it. Neither get to it. The stand moves to 130 while the deficit is now 19.
75.4: R Chase to Rahane, FOUR! Short and outside off, Rahane goes back and cuts it through the covers for a boundary.
81.2 : 81.2: J Holder to Rahane, FOUR! First runs of the morning. Fuller in length and outside off, Rahane takes a step forward and plays a punchy-drive through the covers. The fielders give it a chase, but can't get to it in time. The stand moves to 150 with that and also, India are in the lead.
83.1 : 83.1: J Holder to Rahane, OUT! GONE! Will you look at that? A much better line with the new ball and Jason Holder reaps the benefits. Back of a length delivery around off which shoots off the deck, Rahane is taken by surprise and awkwardly fends it away. It goes off the outer half and flies straight to Hope at gully. Rahane is asked to wait for a second to see if the Windies captain overstepped his line and replays show he's fine. So a fine knock from Rahane comes to an end.
83.3 : 83.3: J Holder to Jadeja, OUT! GONE! Second of the over for Holder and he's on fire here. The new ball working wonders for him and Windies. What a start for them. Once again pitches it outside off and it swings in a long way, Jadeja without much foot movement looks to defend it from the front foot but is caught flush in front of the stumps. A loud appeal and the finger goes up without wasting any time. India in a spot of bother now.
84.3: S Gabriel to Pant, Full and around off, Pant looks to drive through the on side but the ball swings in a touch and goes off the inner half of the bat. Races across the turf and meets the mid-wicket fence.
86.3: S Gabriel to Pant, OUT! What a superb catch! Rishabh Pant is dismissed for 92, missing out on a hundred again. Oh, dear. How unfortunate for him. Gabriel pounds it in short outside off and Pant rises to punch this aerially on the off side. Can't keep it down and the placement isn't as good as he would have expected. A bit too close to Hetmyer, who still has a lot of work to do. He moves to his right swiftly and takes an excellent diving catch. Windies back in this game. They'll look to cle
90.1 : 90.1: S Gabriel to Yadav, FOUR! Gabriel pitches this right up and Kuldeep is expecting this. He drives it through the gap in the covers. Warrican chases it down and tries to pull it back in with a slide, but it seems he can't as he his foot his touching the rope while doing so. Replays confirm the same. Boundary signalled.
94.4 : 94.4: Holder to K Yadav, OUT! Lock, stock and barrel! Holder has five! The good morning continues to get better for the Windies skipper. This is real fast bowling, on a not-so-fast pitch. Holder maintains his line outside off and the length is good as well. Kuldeep looks to defend, thinking that he has covered the line but to his dismay, the ball jags back in off the seam. Beats the bat, beats the pad but does not beat the stumps. Uproots the off stump as if a missile has struck. Terrific. 5th 5
99.2 : 99.2: J Warrican to Yadav, OUT! Caught behind! Warrican has his second. He has been trying endlessly to get batsmen driving and caught behind, and eventually gets one. Slightly short, outside off, Umesh looks to cut but only gets a thick nick behind. Luckily for Windies, that sticks. Jahmar Hamilton almost spills this one too. Ashwin is disappointed. INDIA'S LEAD READS 28.
102.5 : 102.5: S Gabriel to Ashwin, FOUR! Deft guide! Not a bad shot from Ashwin at all. The ball is on a length outside off and it comes in, cramping him slightly for room. But great presence of mind from the all-rounder to realize that the ball is not bouncing much. Just opens the face of the bat and guides it over gully to third man! Gabriel smiles. The stand moves to 10 now.
103.2 : 103.2: D Bishoo to Ashwin, FOUR! VIOLENCE! Dragged short, Ashwin pulls it behind square leg and gets a boundary!
104.3 : 104.3: S Gabriel to Ashwin, TOP EDGE, FOUR! INDIA'S LEAD TOUCHES 50! This last wicket stand is worth 22 from 31 balls. Crucial, useful runs. Not Gabriel's mistake at all. He tests Ashwin with a bouncer and cramps him for room. The batsman goes for the pull but gets a to edge through fine leg which bounces just before the ropes.
106.2 : 106.2: S Gabriel to Ashwin, FOUR! Easy runs. A full toss, on middle, Ashwin just clips it through mid-wicket. There are two men in the deep - at square leg and mid-wicket. However, Shimron Hetmyer at the latter position runs around the ball, instead of across it and ends up chasing it, instead of cutting it off.
106.4 : 106.4: Gabriel to R Ashwin, OUT! The middle stump is out of the ground. Gabriel ends India's resistance. A length ball just outside off, Ashwin looks to defend but the cherry lands on a crack and then zoots in. Past the bat and crash. INDIA GET A LEAD OF 56!
0.2 : 0.2: U Yadav to Brathwaite, OUT! GONE! Umesh draws first blood. Continuing from where he left off in the last innings. Bit fortunate though, as this can be considered as a soft dismissal. Full and down the leg side, Brathwaite looks to tickle it fine. Gets a feather on it and Pant behind the stumps dives to his left and takes a superb catch.
2.5 : 2.5: U Yadav to S Hope, FOUR! Too full and too straight from Umesh, Hope leans ahead and flicks this neatly through mid-wicket to find the fence. Lovely shot.
3.3 : 3.3: R Ashwin to Powell, OUT! It is clean and Powell has to make the long walk. Both openers are back in the dugout now within 4 overs. Loopy and on a driving length around off, it spins away ever so slightly as Powell is forward in defense. It takes the outside edge and goes behind to Rahane at first slip who gets low to his left and takes it. It looks a bit dicey, so the umpires refer it upstairs. Replays show that Rahane got his fingers underneath the ball. Second wicket down for Windies.
3.6 : 3.6: R Ashwin to Hetmyer, Edged and FOUR! Did that carry to Rahane? Maybe. Difficult chance either way. Spinning away, Hetmyer comes forward to block but it takes a thick edge and flies past the slip fielder. Maybe he got something on it, either way, the ball races away to the third man fence.
4.1 : 4.1: U Yadav to Hope, FOUR! That's a good shot in the end. Full ball attacking the stump, Hope was initially going to flick but then straightened his bat at the last second to drive it right back past the bowler. A boundary.
4.3 : 4.3: U Yadav to S Hope, FOUR! Beautiful. So pleasing to watch. Full in length and outside off, Hope drives it between extra cover and mid off perfectly. The timing is such that there's no point chasing after it.
10.2 : 10.2: K Yadav to Hetmyer, FOUR! Around the pads, poor line, Hetmyer gets low to this one and sweeps it across the fine leg fence for a boundary.
10.5 : 10.5: K Yadav to Hetmyer, FOUR! A poor delivery from Kuldeep, a loopy full toss and Hetmyer puts it away. Takes a step out and flicks it through mid-wicket for a boundary.
12.2 : 12.2: K Yadav to Hope, FOUR! Shot. Wonderful stride into the shot as he comes forward and drives it past the diving mid off fielder. The fielder moved to his left but can't get to it.
12.6 : 12.6: K Yadav to Hetmyer, OUT! Kuldeep provides the breakthrough. Partnership of 39 has been broken. Hetmyer going for one too many. Spinning away from off, slow through the air, the southpaw is beaten in the flight as he gets an outside edge on his wild slog across the line. It pops up to Pujara at point who takes a simple catch. Timely strike for the hosts.
13.4 : 13.4: R Jadeja to Hope, OUT! Edged and taken! The pitch is not quite exploding but the Windies are imploding. 4 down now. Full and just outside off, Hope looks to defend but while trying to do so, his bat gets stuck behind his pad. As a result, it is not quite able to meet the pitch of the ball. Hence, an outside edge is induced which goes straight to Rahane. Just in case no one has noticed, the deficit has not been wiped out yet. Still 11 adrift.
22.2 : 22.2: U Yadav to Ambris, FOUR! WINDIES GET INTO THE LEAD. A short ball, around middle, Ambris swivels and pulls it behind square leg. Cheteshwar Pujara is stationed at deep mid-wicket and cannot get to the ball. First boundary for Sunil, who moves into 11.
22.5 : 22.5: U Yadav to Ambris, FOUR! Too straight, Ambris tickles it fine and the ball races away.
24.6 : 24.6: Yadav to R Chase, OUT! A wicket just moments before Tea! The Windies have lost half their side. Umesh has his second. A length ball, around off, Chase looks to defend but the ball moves in ever so slightly, takes the inside edge, hits the pad, then deflects onto the off stump. Big blow to the visiting side. Chase was one man who could have hung around. WINDIES ARE EFFECTIVELY 12/5.
26.1 : 26.1: U Yadav to Dowrich, OUT! The off stump is out of the ground! Beautifully bowled again. Umesh Yadav is on the cusp of taking a hat-trick again and another fifer. The fast bowler bowls it really straight, around off, Dowrich looks to defend but gets a thin inside edge onto his pads, which deflects the ball to knock off the off stump. So WINDIES EFFECTIVELY ARE 14/6!!!
26.5 : 26.5: U Yadav to Holder, FOUR! Too straight again, it is a full toss, on the pads, Holder gets it to the fine leg fence.
28.3 : 28.3: U Yadav to Ambris, FOUR! Nicely played! There was width on offer outside off, Ambris waits for it and then guides it through gully, no one in the deep and the ball crosses the third man fence.
29.4 : 29.4: K Yadav to Holder, SIX! Boom boom goes Holder! Kuldeep tosses it up around off, Holder's eyes lit up as soon as he saw the flight. He clears his front leg and tonks it over the long on fence for a biggie.
30.3 : 30.3: U Yadav to Ambris, FOUR! Too fine! On the pads, Ambris tickles it away down the leg side and the ball races away to the fence.
31.5 : 31.5: K Yadav to J Holder, FOUR! Lovely shot! Very delightful to the eye! Holder plants his front foot across and then caresses it through covers for a boundary. The lead now is closing in on the 50-run mark.
36.6 : 36.6: R Jadeja to Holder, OUT! Now we know why the Indians were so confident. There is a spike on Snicko and Holder is given his marching orders. Judicious use of the review by the Indians. Jadeja strikes as he gets his second. The partnership which was starting to build has been cut short. Ravindra bowls it flatter around off, it pitches and straightens a touch. Holder lunges and tries to defend but does not account for the turn. There is a sound as the ball passes the bat. Pant takes it and he
38.5 : 38.5: R Jadeja to Ambris, OUT! Three reds and that is plumb! Jadeja gets two in two overs. One would wonder why wasn't he given the ball a lot more. He is just into his 8th over and has got three. This is flatter and slightly shorter around middle. Ambris misreads the length as he tries to pull. The ball sneaks underneath his bat and hits the front pad. The player appeals and the umpire raises his finger. Ambris has no choice but to go for the review. Replays roll in and it shows no involvement
43.5: R Ashwin to Bishoo, FOUR! Up and over! A little too full by Ashwin. Bishoo sees an opportunity to score and goes after it. Lofts it over mid off and a boundary results.
43.6 : 43.6: R Ashwin to Bishoo, FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries! Through the leg side this time. With the angle, Bishoo whips it through mid-wicket and the ball races away.
44.5 : 44.5: R Jadeja to J Warrican, FOUR! Frustrating this for the Indians. Short and outside off, Warrican cuts it through backward point for a boundary.
45.2 : 45.2: R Ashwin to Warrican, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! There goes number 9 and it falls it Ashwin. The straighter one does the trick as Warrican plays inside the line. The ball goes past the outside edge and uproots the off pole.
46.1 : 46.1: Yadav to S Gabriel, OUT! Yes, he can! A 10-fer for Umesh. His first in Tests. Just one ball of his new spell was what it took for him to get it. He bowls it full and outside off, Gabriel swings away from his body. The delivery takes the inside edge and disturbs the furniture behind. WINDIES ARE ALL OUT FOR 127! INDIA ARE GIVEN A TARGET OF 72!
0.4 : 0.4: J Holder to Shaw, Inside edge and FOUR! That was a superb delivery and Holder is just unfortunate here. Targets the top of off stump with a length ball, Shaw comes forward to defend but the ball takes the edge and runs to the fine leg boundary. That was close.
1.6 : 1.6: J Warrican to Rahul, SIX! All the way! Finally gets to the pitch of it and lofts it over mid off. The timing is such that the ball carries over the fence. India want to end this quickly.
7.1 : 7.1: Warrican to L Rahul, FOUR! Top edge but a boundary! A low full toss on the leg side, Rahul tries to paddle it but the ball takes the top edge and goes fine down the leg side for a boundary.
8.5 : 8.5: D Bishoo to Shaw, FOUR! Rubbing salt to the wound this! Could have had Shaw on the last ball but is cut for four on the next one. A half-tracker outside off. PS cuts it past point and a boundary results.
11.3 : 11.3: R Chase to Shaw, FOUR! Runs needed now is below 20! Lovely shot! Slightly short and outside off, Shaw rocks back and punches it through covers for a boundary.
16.1 : 16.1: D Bishoo to Shaw, FOUR! Shaw finishes it off in style! India win their 10th home Test series on the trot! They last lost a Test series against England in 2012. This is tossed up outside off, Shaw hits it through covers and the ball races away. Customary handshakes all around as INDIA WIN BY 10 WICKETS!
