Match over
4.5 : 4.5: Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, FOUR! Glorious! Cummins is guilty of overpitching it on off, Dhawan loves to play the cover drive. He gets out his front foot and beautifully creams his drive through covers for a boundary. First one of the innings.
7.3 : 7.3: N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, FOUR! Enough of the cautiousness, says Dhawan. He dances down the track and then hits it past Rohit and through mid off for a boundary.
7.4 : 7.4: N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, FOUR! NCN has started off poorly! He needed to continue the pressure the two opening bowlers built but that has not been the case so far. A hit-me delivery this, short and wide outside off. Dhawan says thank you very much as he cuts it through point for the second boundary in the over.
7.5 : 7.5: N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, FOUR! Make that the third! Once again poor bowling. There is width on offer. A batsman of Dhawan's caliber won't miss out. He guides it past point and the ball races away.
11.1 : 11.1: A Zampa to R Sharma, FOUR! Poor delivery from Zampa to start off. He drags it short on the body, Rohit gets on his back foot and hits it over square on the leg side for a boundary. Easy pickings this for Rohit.
11.3 : 11.3: A Zampa to S Dhawan, FOUR! Zampa is having a nightmare start here. 9 runs off his first three balls. Shorter outside off, the ball was spinning away from Dhawan. Shikhar just guides it with the spin down the third man region. Khawaja gives it a chase and looks to stop it before the cushion with a dive but fails to do so. 50 comes up for India with that boundary. Solid start from the openers.
12.1 : 12.1: G Maxwell to R Sharma, FOUR! Nicely played! Lovely use of the wrists. This is quicker and fuller outside off, Rohit waits for it and squeezes it behind point. Zampa gives it a chase. He tries to push it back in with a dive right at the end but fails to do so. Runs coming thick and fast now.
14.3 : 14.3: N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Top edge and FOUR! Dhawan was in no control of the shot there. Nathan bowls a good short and it hurries onto the batsman. Dhawan is halfway into his shot but the ball hits the top portion and goes fine on the leg side for a boundary. Fortunate one and this will be frustrating Australia.
15.1 : 15.1: M Stoinis to S Dhawan, FOUR! Clever batting from Dhawan! Stoinis starts with a short one on middle, Dhawan waits for it and then upper cuts it over the keeper for a boundary. A boundary to begin Marcus' spell. Pressure on him straightaway.
16.1: N Coulter-Nile to R Sharma, SIX! All the way! First biggie of the game! It is short and on middle, Rohit transfers his weight on the back foot and pull it over the backward square leg fence for a maximum. Another over which starts with a boundary.
19.3 : 19.3: M Stoinis to S Dhawan, FOUR! Poor, poor ball again! Slower bumper and it is down the leg side. Dhawan pulls it down to the fine leg fence.
19.4 : 19.4: M Stoinis to S Dhawan, FOUR! Up and over! Consecutive boundaries! This is even better than the last one. Full and on off, Dhawan lofts it over covers and bags another boundary. Dhawan may have decided to step on the gas here.
20.1 : 20.1: M Starc to R Sharma, FOUR! Rohit gets to his fifty in style! Short and wide outside off, Rohit slaps it through cover-point and it races away. His 42nd ODI half ton. He has continued from where he left off against South Africa. He looks all set to make it two tons in a row.
22.3 : 22.3: N Coulter-Nile to R Sharma, OUT! Finally Australia have a breakthrough! Nathan Coulter-Nile has provided Finch with the big, big scalp of Rohit Sharma. Back of a length ball on off, Sharma looks to cut but the ball raises onto him. He gets a feather on it and the ball goes to the right of Carey. He takes a simple catch and they put in a compulsory appeal and the umpire raises his finger. A giant opening stand of 127 comes to an end. Coulter-Nile has not had the best of days so far with th
25.3: A Zampa to S Dhawan, FOUR! Too full and outside off and Dhawan puts it away! He leans into it and strokes it through covers. No chance for the sweeper in the deep.
25.6 : 25.6: A Zampa to S Dhawan, FOUR! Over mid on! Picked his spot to perfection. Dances down the track, does not get to the pitch of the ball but still goes ahead with the shot. Manages to get it just over mid on and it trickles away. Second in the over and 11 from the over.
26.4 : 26.4: Pat Cummins to V Kohli, FOUR! Up and over. Length ball outside off, Kohli throws his bat at it and hits it over point for a boundary. It did not come right off the middle but Virat will take it. 150 comes up for India with that. Australia have been consistently bowling it outside off to Kohli but will this shot change the plan?
28.3 : 28.3: Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, FOUR! Dhawan would have had his heart in his mouth for a moment though. Short and outside off, Dhawan looks to upper cut but the ball goes off the bottom just past Carey and down to the third man fence. Into the 90s now is Dhawan.
29.3: G Maxwell to S Dhawan, FOUR! Poor from Maxwell. Short ball on middle, it is nothing but a hit-me ball. Dhawan says thank you very much and pulls it through mid-wicket for a boundary.
32.1 : 32.1: M Stoinis to V Kohli, FOUR! In the air... but in the gap! Shortish and outside off, Kohli drags it uppishly but just wide of Warner at short mid-wicket for a boundary.
33.2 : 33.2: G Maxwell to S Dhawan, FOUR! That is a brilliant stroke from Dhawan. He comes down the track and lofts this tossed up ball on off over mid-wicket for a boundary.
33.4 : 33.4: G Maxwell to S Dhawan, FOUR! Gorgeous shot! Floated on off, Dhawan plays one of the most difficult shots, the inside out one. He connects it well and it bounces just before the ropes for a boundary.
35.4: N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, FOUR! Pulled fiercely! Short and on middle, Kholi hammers it through mid-wicket and it races away to the fence. The short ball are sitting up to be hit nicely.
36.2 : 36.2: M Starc to S Dhawan, FOUR! Incredible! A very full ball on middle, Dhawan plays a short-arm jab straight past Starc for a boundary.
36.6 : 36.6: M Starc to S Dhawan, OUT! Dhawan holes out! End of a brilliant knock from Dhawan. He walks out to a standing ovation from the crowd. Starc bowls it full on the pads, Dhawan looks to flick it over square leg. He does not time it well so he gets a lot of height on it but not the distance. Nathan Lyon, the substitute fielder at deep square leg takes an easy catch. Dhawan has to depart, he has played a brilliant knock here. He raises his bat and soaks in all the applause he is getting from the
39.3 : 39.3: N Coulter-Nile to H Pandya, FOUR! That has been pulled away with brute force! Short and on the body, Pandya swivels and pulls it all along the ground and to the backward square leg fence. These runs will be surely hurting Carey the most.
40.4 : 40.4: G Maxwell to H Pandya, SIX! There goes Hardik Pandya! He brings the slog sweep out and connects well. It sails into the mid-wicket stand for a biggie.
41.1 : 41.1: N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, FOUR! Stand and delivery stuff! Brings up the 250! Length and on off, Kohli lofts it over the cover fielder and it races away to the fence. Ideal start for the over. Bowler under pressure now.
41.6 : 41.6: N Coulter-Nile to H Pandya, FOUR! Save your head, Coulter-Nile! A boundary to start the over and one to end! He goes full again and Pandya hammers it back towards the bowler. Nathan does well to get down in time and the ball races to the long off fence. 11 from the over.
42.5 : 42.5: A Zampa to H Pandya, SIX! Pandya has hit it right off the middle. Tossed up on middle and leg, Hardik heaves it over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum. Alex Carey must be gutted with himself as he had dropped Hardik Pandya early on, on 0.
43.1 : 43.1: Pat Cummins to H Pandya, SIX! That is dead straight, absolutely dead straight! Brings up the 50-run stand in style and it has come up in very quick time. The two need to continue in the same manner for India. Full and on middle, Pandya lifts it over the bowler's head and it goes all the way.
43.2 : 43.2: Pat Cummins to H Pandya, FOUR! What a shot again! This guy is some talent! The last one was full, he hit it over the long on fence. This is short, he arches back and manages to hit it over the point fielder for a one-bounce boundary.
44.4 : 44.4: M Starc to V Kohli, SIX! Right off the middle and that goes all the way! Starc misses the yorker by a little and Kohli makes him pay. He drags it from outside off and hits it over the mid-wicket fence.
45.3 : 45.3: Pat Cummins to H Pandya, FOUR! Brilliantly played! Nothing wrong with that delivery. It is a yorker outside off, Pandya goes back and squeezes it out through point and the ball races away.
45.5 : 45.5: Pat Cummins to H Pandya, OUT! No fifty for Pandya but an excellent cameo from him comes to an end. Made use of the life he got brilliantly. Cummins bowls a low full toss. Not always easy to get those away. Pandya looks to go over mid off but it goes off the toe-end. Finch there completes an easy catch. Australia will be relieved to see the back of Pandya as they were just not sure where to bowl to him. Could easily make a difference of 10 runs to the final total.
46.1 : 46.1: M Starc to V Kohli, SIX! How beautiful was that? Probably the shot of the day! Starc bowls it very full on off, Kohli leans into it and just lifts it over covers. The ball carries all the way over the fence. Ideal start to the over for India.
46.3 : 46.3: M Starc to MS Dhoni, EDGED AND FOUR! Starc bowls it short, Dhoni looks to pull but gets a top edge on it. The ball goes to the left of the keeper. Carey goes for the catch but does not get there and the ball races away behind him for a boundary.
47.4 : 47.4: M Stoinis to MS Dhoni, FOUR! Stoinis misses his line with the bouncer. It is down the leg side, fine leg is inside the circle so Dhoni just pulls it wide of him for a boundary.
48.1 : 48.1: M Starc to MS Dhoni, SIX! OH! That is a monster. Full in the slot for Dhoni. It is on middle, Dhoni smashes it over the square leg fence for a mamoth six.
48.2 : 48.2: M Starc to MS Dhoni, FOUR! 10 off the first two balls. Starc bowls it short on the body, Dhoni pulls it through backward square leg for a boundary. Dhoni rolling back the years here.
49.1 : 49.1: M Stoinis to MS Dhoni, OUT! Brilliant catch from Stoinis. The idea to bowl wide outside off to Dhoni has worked. He bowls a low full toss outside off, on which he rolls his finger. Dhoni looks to hit it straight but it does not come off the middle of his bat. It comes off the lower half of his bat. It goes to the right of Stoinis. He puts his right arm out and takes an excellent one-handed catch.
49.2 : 49.2: M Stoinis to KL Rahul, SIX! Rahul is off the mark with a bang. Stoinis misses his yorker and ends up serving a full toss, Rahul straightaway whacks it over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie.
49.5 : 49.5: M Stoinis to V Kohli, OUT! Second wicket in the final over for Stoinis. Kohli cannot see off the innings. Back of a length ball on off, Kohli looks to clear the man at sweeper cover as he walks down the track but he does not time it well and the ball goes straight to Pat Cummins in the deep. He takes a simple catch. End of another good innings from the Indian skipper.
49.6 : 49.6: M Stoinis to KL Rahul, FOUR! Rahul finishes the innings in style. Full toss around off, Rahul gets down on one knee and sweeps it over mid-wicket for a boundary. Takes the total past 350. 14 runs and 2 wickets off the last over. INDIA FINISH OFF WITH 352/5 OFF THEIR 50 OVERS.
1.3 : 1.3: J Bumrah to D Warner, FOUR! Excellent shot! Warner gets going. Full and outside off, Warner drives it beautifully through covers for a boundary.
3.4 : 3.4: J Bumrah to A Finch, FOUR! Terrific shot! Bumrah bowls it full on middle, Finch flicks it over square leg for a boundary.
9.1 : 9.1: H Pandya to D Warner, FOUR! A rare boundary for Australia. A length ball, around middle, Warner helps it over short fine leg and the ball finds the fence. Just the third boundary of this innings.
9.4 : 9.4: H Pandya to A Finch, SIX! Terrific shot. The first of the run chase. A length ball, Finch picks it up in a trice and pulls it over square leg!
9.5 : 9.5: H Pandya to A Finch, FOUR! Well played. Fractionally full, outside off, Finch drives this on the up between cover and point!
9.6 : 9.6: H Pandya to A Finch, FOUR! Fine way to end Powerplay 1! 19 from the final over. A length ball outside off, Finch punches this through the covers and the ball races away! 48/0 for Australia in Powerplay 1, 7 ahead than what India were at this stage.
13.1 : 13.1: H Pandya to D Warner, OUT! India have their first wicket. Miscommunication gets the better of Australia. Outside off, Warner punches it through the covers and sets off for two straightaway. Finch takes the first but then while turning for the second, he sees that Kedar Jadhav has the ball in his hand at sweeper. He stops. But Warner is like a runaway train who cannot change direction. He called for two and wanted them. The problem is, he did not even look at Finch while going for the secon
15.1: H Pandya to D Warner, NO BALL, FOUR! Hardik oversteps and bowls a short ball, right at the head of Warner. Short of a length delivery, Warner pulls it with his eyes closed over square leg for a boundary. The next delivery will be a Free Hit.
18.1: K Yadav to D Warner, FOUR! Landed outside off, Warner goes back and punches it through the covers!
20.1: J Bumrah to D Warner, FOUR! Short delivery outside off, Warner looks to cut but gets an outside edge. It goes towards third man for a boundary. There was no fielder there.
22.2 : 22.2: K Jadhav to S Smith, SIX! Nice shot. Full and outside off, Smith comes down the track and sends it sailing over mid-wicket! 50-RUN STAND COMES UP!
22.6 : 22.6: K Jadhav to S Smith, FOUR! Terrific shot. Full and outside off, Smith gets down and slog sweeps it powerfully over mid-wicket! 14 from the over!
24.4 : 24.4: Y Chahal to D Warner, OUT! Caught! Warner's torturous innings comes to an end. He was never looking comfortable in his 84-ball stay and has eventually been relieved off the pain. Tossed up, around middle and leg, Warner comes down the track and looks to flick it over the leg side. The connection is decent but the power is not enough to take the ball beyond the boundary. Easy catch for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. That will hurt Australia's chances as per the DLS method.
31.6 : 31.6: K Yadav to U Khawaja, FOUR! A bit audacious this time. Full and in line of the stumps, Khawaja walks across his stumps and sweeps it over square leg for a boundary!
32.4 : 32.4: Y Chahal to U Khawaja, FOUR! Fine shot. Full and down the leg side, Khawaja sweeps it towards the fine leg fence!
33.6 : 33.6: K Yadav to S Smith, FOUR! What precision! Superb picking of the gap. There is a point, a cover and an extra cover. Kuldeep tosses this one outside off and Smith drives. Trisecting the three fielders. Excellent placement. Half century for Smith, back-to-back ones for him as well.
34.3 : 34.3: H Pandya to U Khawaja, FOUR! A short ball, a half-tracker at that, Khawaja pulls it away to the mid-wicket fence!
35.2 : 35.2: K Yadav to U Khawaja, SIX! MURDERED! Full and outside off, Khawaja gets down and slog sweeps it over mid-wicket!
35.3 : 35.3: K Yadav to U Khawaja, FOUR! Superb batting! Full and around middle, Khawaja whips this through mid-wicket for another boundary!
36.4 : 36.4: J Bumrah to U Khawaja, OUT! BOWLED! Khawaja departs, trying to be innovative. A length ball, around off, Usman gets across and looks to paddle. But he is not even close to the pitch of the ball and it cannons off the inside edge, onto the stumps. A decent knock from Khawaja.
36.5 : 36.5: J Bumrah to G Maxwell, FOUR! Stunning placement! Maxi starts off with a strike rate of 400. Full on middle, Maxwell drives this straight back past the bowler. Mid on is inside and it beats him to the fence!
37.1 : 37.1: B Kumar to G Maxwell, FOUR! What a shot! Landed outside off, Maxwell just guides this behind point and the ball races away!
37.2 : 37.2: B Kumar to G Maxwell, FOUR! Wow. Delicate from Maxwell. On a length outside off, Maxwell waits for the ball to come to him and dabs it very fine, beating short third man!
37.6 : 37.6: B Kumar to S Smith, FOUR! A boundary to end the over as well! 15 from it. A bad ball, full and down the leg side, Smith gets across and tickles it to the fine leg fence. Australia need 131 from 12 overs but interestingly, India were 225/2 at this stage, just 3 runs ahead!
38.1 : 38.1: J Bumrah to G Maxwell, FOUR! PLUNDERED! A short ball outside off, Maxwell pulls it over mid-wicket for a boundary!
38.4 : 38.4: J Bumrah to S Smith, FOUR! Off the inside edge! Kohli is not happy. A length ball outside off, Smith goes hard at this one, looking to force a cover drive but the ball goes off the inside edge, past the stumps and beats fine leg! Kohli wanted the fielder to attack the ball and stop the boundary. A touch harsh.
38.5 : 38.5: J Bumrah to S Smith, FOUR! Nicely played! A short ball, down the leg side, Smith gets across and pulls it over the keeper to the fine leg fence!
39.4 : 39.4: B Kumar to S Smith, OUT! Plumb LBW! Hard to see how the umpire missed this one. Probably Ian Gould felt that Smith hit it. A length ball, outside off, cutting back in, Smith, with a huge bat lift, looks to work it to the leg side but misses and is hit on the pads. Bhuvi appeals but umpire Gould shakes his head. Dhoni urges Kohli to go for the review and Kohli does so. Hawk Eye shows the ball to be hitting the leg stump. Gritty knock from Smith ends.
39.6 : 39.6: B Kumar to M Stoinis, OUT! BOWLED! Bhuvneshwar has two in the over and Australia are back in the rubble once more. A length ball outside off, Stoinis lazily looks to run it down towards third man but the bat comes down months late. The ball jags back in, hits the pads and pegs the off stump back! A duck for Stoinis and India probably have more than one-and-a-half foot on the victory path.
40.3 : 40.3: Y Chahal to G Maxwell, FOUR! Off the edge. Short and outside off, Maxwell looks to cut but gets a thick outside edge, past Dhoni to the third man fence!
40.4 : 40.4: Y Chahal to G Maxwell, OUT! Maxwell falls and that probably is now the confirmation that Australia truly and surely do not have any more chance in this game. Tossed up bravely outside off, Maxwell looks to play the slog sweep but only top edges it high in the air. Ravindra Jadeja, the substitute for Shikhar Dhawan, comes running in from deep mid-wicket and takes a decent catch. End of Maxwell's cameo and Australia might just realistically think of losing by a massive margin.
42.2 : 42.2: Y Chahal to A Carey, FOUR! In the gap! Brings the sweep out, hits it in the air but in the gap at the mid-wicket region. Carey not going down without a fight.
42.4 : 42.4: Y Chahal to A Carey, SIX! Excellent use of the feet! He gets to the pitch of the ball and tonks it over the bowler's head for a biggie. 12 from the 4 balls bowled.
43.5 : 43.5: H Pandya to A Carey, FOUR! Fine shot. Full on middle, Carey swings hard and beats long on to his right!
44.2 : 44.2: J Bumrah to A Carey, FOUR! Very nicely played! Good adjustment. Carey backs away to the leg side and Bumrah angles in a short ball from around the wicket. Now, Alex initially looks to pull but at the last moment, guides it over the keeper to the third man fence!
44.5 : 44.5: J Bumrah to N Coulter-Nile, OUT! Coulter-Nile departs. Not his day at all. Kept swinging, slashing but not connecting. Finally got a slower ball that he could connect. But sadly for him, he found Virat Kohli to perfection at deep mid-wicket. Kohli is pumped up after that catch. India edging closer to a massive win.
45.4 : 45.4: B Kumar to A Carey, FOUR! Terrific shot. A length ball outside off, Carey backs away to the leg side and lofts it over cover for a boundary.
46.2 : 46.2: J Bumrah to Pat Cummins, FOUR! Finally he connects. Cummins has been trying for the last couple of balls to try and guide the ball behind point. After failing in the last over, he finally connects this time, getting it behind point.
46.6 : 46.6: J Bumrah to Pat Cummins, OUT! Caught behind. Cummins goes as well. Another slower ball, outside off, on a length, Cummins swings early but only gets a thick outside edge. Dhoni dives forward and takes it nicely.
47.1 : 47.1: B Kumar to A Carey, FOUR! Short and outside off, Carey swings this through mid-wicket and beats the fielder running to his left.
49.1: B Kumar to A Carey, OUT! Replays confirm that Starc is way short! This is jammed out towards deep cover. They take one. Carey wants the strike so he goes for a second which was not on. Shankar picks the ball up and fires it to the bowler who deflects it onto the stumps. An appeal and the umpire takes it upstairs. Replays roll in and they show Starc has to take the long walk back.
49.6 : 49.6: B Kumar to A Zampa, OUT! In the air... taken! Three-fer for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. It is the slower one on off, Zampa looks to loft it over mid off but does not get the timing right. An easy catch for Jadeja, the substitute. AUSTRALIA HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 316! INDIA WIN THE MATCH BY 36 RUNS!
