PITCH REPORT - Sanjay Manjrekar and Michael Slater with the pitch report. Manjrekar says the weather is awesome as the sun is out and it is also cool. He informs while bowling from Vauxhall End, the boundaries behind square are short and also from the Pavillion End, the side boundaries are very similar. On the pitch, he says it looks tacky. Slater from the other end agrees with Manjrekar and he informs that it was raining two days ago and it is a typical Oval wicket and there will be a bit of b
TOSS- We are all in readiness. Indian skipper, Virat Kohli has the coin in hand. Up it goes, Australian skipper, Aaron Finch calls Heads but it comes down as Tails. INDIA OPT TO BAT FIRST.
Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, says it looks a very nice wicket, it has been used before so he feels it will get slower. Mentions it looks nice and hard now so he would want to make use of it early on. States runs on board is the way to go so that the bowling attack can get into the game in the second half and put pressure on the opposition. Adds further the sun is out, it looks a hard pitch and it is a no-brainer to bat first. Reckons there isn't a lot of moisture in the wicket and it seems it wi
Australian skipper, Aaron Finch says he would have batted first as well as it is a used wicket and might get slower later on. On the winning streak, Finch says it helps build the confidence but it is the World Cup and they are playing a different team so they cannot just rest on the same. On playing the same team, Finch says there were some thoughts but they decided to stick with the same eleven as even though they did not play very well in the last game they managed to get the win.
India Playing XI (UNCHANGED) - Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (C), KL Rahul, MS Dhoni (WK), Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah.

Both sets of players walk out to the middle for their respective National Anthems. First up, it will be Australia's national anthem who play this game as the visiting side, followed by India's who are the home team for this one. We are not far away from the first ball being bowled in this game.
Done and dusted with the national anthems and now we are all set to begin. Australian players are out on the field taking their respective positions in the field. For India, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan walk out to open the innings. The former will take the strike. Pat Cummins to start the proceedings with the first new ball.
0.1 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, Some movement early on but no carry at all! It starts on off and then moves away a little. Rohit plants his front foot forward and makes a leave. The ball goes on the bounce to the keeper. If the first ball is anything to go by, Kohli has won a good toss here.
0.2 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, Lands it on middle this time, no away movement on this delivery. Rohit defends it.
0.3 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, India are underway! Good shot! It is on a length and around off, Rohit opens the face and eases it through cover-point. The outfield is not as fast as it normally is and the batsmen have to be happy with two.
0.4 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, Attacks the stumps again, Rohit plays a nice stroke to mid on.
0.5 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, Well bowled! Hits the length hard and lands it on off, Rohit easily blocks it out.
0.6 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, A dot to end to a tidy first by Pat! Back of a length on middle, Rohit works it to mid on.
Mitchell Starc to bowl from the other end with the second new ball.
1.1 : M Starc to S Dhawan, Strangely Starc goes short first up, it is on the body of Dhawan. He works it towards square leg and gets to the other end. He is off the mark too.
1.2 : M Starc to R Sharma, Lands it on a length now and gets this one to angle away from the right-hander. Rohit shoulders arms to it.
1.3 : M Starc to R Sharma, DROPPED! But a top effort from Nathan Coulter-Nile. Magnificent! In the end, he saved a certain boundary. Starc bowls it on the pads, Rohit flicks it uppishly in front of square. NCN there dives full stretch to his right and sticks one hand out. The ball does not stick though and it goes behind for two.
1.4 : M Starc to R Sharma, Back of a length on off, Sharma drops it towards cover for one.
1.5 : M Starc to S Dhawan, LEG BYE! This is on the pads. Dhawan looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. The ball rolls towards the fine leg region and the batters take a single.
1.6 : M Starc to R Sharma, A little too straight once again by Starc. Sharma looks to help it on its way but misses to get hit high on the pad. So both Cummins and Starc have not got any movement so far.
2.1 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, On the middle pole, Dhawan defends it back to the bowler.
2.2 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Edged but away from the second slip fielder! Back of a length on off and slanting away. Dhawan looks to defend inside the line but the ball goes off the outside edge down to third man. The batsmen take one.
2.3 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, Back of a length and on off, Rohit shuffles across and works it towards mid-wicket. Bowling a tight line is Cummins. Not giving anything away at the moment.
2.4 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, Good shot but straight to point! Slightly shot and there is a little bit of width on offer. Rohit looks to make use of it as he tries to guide it past point but fails to do so. Maxwell makes a good stop as it came to him quickly.
2.5 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, Another outside edge but once again it goes past second slip. Length and around off, Rohit pushes hard at it, the ball goes off the outside edge down to third man. A single ran.
2.6 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Back of a length on off, Dhawan defends it towards cover. Rohit wants a run but is rightly sent back by Rohit. Another decent over by Cummins.
3.1 : M Starc to R Sharma, Back of a length on off, Rohit stays back and defends it onto the ground.
3.2 : M Starc to R Sharma, Rohit plays this down to third man with the angle and takes a single.
3.3 : M Starc to S Dhawan, Short this time but there is not a lot of fizz on it. Dhawan easily evades it.
3.4 : M Starc to S Dhawan, Dhawan had no idea where the ball was! Very full and on off, Dhawan looks to play it with a closed face of the bat. He gets an inside edge onto the pads. It rolls back towards the bowler. Dhawan though is not sure which way the ball has gone and he takes a few steps out of the crease. Soon realizes it has gone to the bowler and he gets back in.
3.5 : M Starc to S Dhawan, Good fielding! Australia have started off really well in the field today. This is slashed towards point where Maxwell dives to his right and makes a half-stop. Can't stop the single though.
3.6 : M Starc to R Sharma, Ends it with a shorter length delivery! Sharma looks to pull but misses to get hit high on the thigh pad.
4.1 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Good shot! This will give Dhawan some much needed confidence. Good length ball on the pads, Dhawan drives it through mid on off the middle of the bat and gets a brace.
4.2 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Length ball on middle and leg, Dhawan blocks it.
4.3 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, OH! Good ball! Cummins almost had Dhawan's back there. He steams it full around off, the ball shapes away just a bit after hitting the deck, Dhawan looks to whip it but the ball just misses his outside edge.
4.4 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Back of a length ball on the body, Dhawan does well to get on top of it and defend it.
4.5 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, FOUR! Glorious! Cummins is guilty of overpitching it on off, Dhawan loves to play the cover drive. He gets out his front foot and beautifully creams his drive through covers for a boundary. First one of the innings.
4.6 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Follows it up with a single down to square leg. Cummins bowls it back of a length on the body, Dhawan tucks it to square leg and gets a run. Smart batting this from Dhawan. End of an eventful over from Cummins.
5.1 : M Starc to S Dhawan, Slips this on the pads, Dhawan looks to work it on the leg side but misses. It hits the pads and rolls towards square leg. A leg bye taken.
5.2 : M Starc to R Sharma, Clipped and done so nicely! On the pads once again, Rohit works it through square leg and takes two. Once again the slow outfield was evident.
5.3 : M Starc to R Sharma, This time flicks it to the left of the fielder in front of square. He does well though to get to the ball quickly and not let the batsmen take any run.
5.4 : M Starc to R Sharma, Back of a length on off this time, Rohit stands tall and defends it out.
5.5 : M Starc to R Sharma, Slightly fuller than the length he has been bowling in this over and it is on the stumps. Rohit strokes it nicely but to mid off.
5.6 : M Starc to R Sharma, Rohit misses out there! It is short and wide outside off, Rohit looks to cut but ends up mistiming it to covers. Just three from the over. The Indian openers have started off quite cautiously.
6.1 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Back of a length ball on the body, Dhawan tucks it to mid-wicket.
6.2 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Once again it is on the body, Dhawan this time flicks it to square leg.
6.3 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Bowls it on off and on a length, not letting the batsman free his arms. Dhawan defends it to covers.
6.4 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, That has zipped through! It is short and on the body, Cummins really bent his back on this one as it skids through. Dhawan looks to pull but is beaten for pace. The Aussies appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Cummins asks his keeper but Carey says that he did not hear anything. Finch comes into the picture but does not take the review. Replays show that Dhawan is very lucky not to have edged that. The ball just went past the glove. Great decision.
6.5 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, A little too straight this time and Dhawan works it through square leg for one.
6.6 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, A good end to another good over for Australia. On a length and around off, Rohit defends it onto the ground.
First bowling change of the innings. It has come inside the first Powerplay itself. Nathan Coulter-Nile replaces Mitchell Starc.
7.1 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Starts off on a length on off, Dhawan strokes it to cover-point.
7.2 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Dhawan shuffles right across but NCN continues bowling it just outside off. SD blocks it out.
7.3 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, FOUR! Enough of the cautiousness, says Dhawan. He dances down the track and then hits it past Rohit and through mid off for a boundary.
7.4 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Down the leg side, Dhawan looks to help it on its way but misses. Wided.
N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, FOUR! NCN has started off poorly! He needed to continue the pressure the two opening bowlers built but that has not been the case so far. A hit-me delivery this, short and wide outside off. Dhawan says thank you very much as he cuts it through point for the second boundary in the over.
7.5 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, FOUR! Make that the third! Once again poor bowling. There is width on offer. A batsman of Dhawan's caliber won't miss out. He guides it past point and the ball races away.
7.6 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, A single to end an expensive first by Nathan. 14 from it. Outside off, Dhawan guides it down to third man for one. This could well be the momentum changing over.
8.1 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Ouch! That was a very well bowled short ball from Cummins. It is on the body, the ball keeps rising as it comes to Dhawan. He looks to defend but it clips his thumb and onto his chest.
8.2 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, On the body once again, Dhawan flicks it to the on side and gets a single.
8.3 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, On middle and leg, Rohit tucks it to mid-wicket for a run.
The physio is out to have a look! Dhawan's thumb maybe the issue. The spray is out and like always, it does its job. Dhawan is good to go now.

9.3 : N Coulter-Nile to R Sharma, Good running! Another delivery which is shorter than a length. Rohit goes back and pushes it wide of mid off for one.
9.4 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, On the bounce! Shorter and outside off. There is some extra bounce on it. Dhawan does well to play it by taking one hand off the handle towards point.
9.5 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Dhawan makes room but NCN follows him. Dhawan once again ends up playing it to point. This is a better second over by Nathan. Needs to end it well though.
9.6 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Does so! A dot to end Powerplay 1! Length and around off, Dhawan once again guides it to point. A decent one for both the sides. Australia have not let India score freely but India have not lost a wicket too. They are 41 for no loss after it.
Powerplay 2 signalled by the umpire. Now maximum of 4 fielders can be placed outside the 30-yard circle till the 40th over.
Spin time now. It's not Adam Zampa though. The first spinner of the day will be Glenn Maxwell.

11.3 : A Zampa to S Dhawan, FOUR! Zampa is having a nightmare start here. 9 runs off his first three balls. Shorter outside off, the ball was spinning away from Dhawan. Not always easy to get those away. Pandya looks to go over mid off but it goes off the toe-end. Finch there completes an easy catch. 116/3 in the final 10 overs. Powerful, brutal batting by India. A certain Alex Carey would be wondering whether things would have been different had he not dropped Hardik and Dhoni on 0. India have arrived at the World Cup.
After electing to bat on a supposedly slow deck, which is projected to get even slower, India got off to a sedate start. At 41/0 in the 11th over, it seemed like Australia had things under control but this is where India are so good. Making up for lost time. The next 10 overs went for 70 runs and the charge was on.
Rohit and Dhawan piled on the agony for the Aussies, with a 127-run opening stand and even after it was broken, Kohli and later, Pandya kept the heat on. Hardik was dropped on 0 by Carey and guess that may have cost the Aussies at least 20-25 runs. Every batsman in the top 5 contributed nicely to take the score past 350. A terrific team batting display where the openers set the tone and the middle order capitalized. Dhawan was fluent in his century while Rohit will feel that he missed the opport
When one gets to know that Glenn Maxwell outbowled the main spin bowler, it means that Australia are in big trouble. A bad, bad day in the field for the Aussies, with the bowlers struggling for rhythm and movement and the fielders not supporting them. Plenty of misfields added to the disappointment and the dropped catches by Alex Carey just capped it off. Pat Cummins was the only bowler who looked threatening, else India might have even reached 400.
Sanjay Manjrekar is taking Shikhar Dhawan's interview. Dhawan says he played very smartly and calmly. Adds that he enjoys playing on this ground, having a good record here. Mentions he is happy with the century but more than that he is happy with the score they have got. States he plays every game with the same intent and it is just a coincidence that he plays well in ICC tournaments. DRINKS BREAK. Ever tried to pass a night with sleep not coming, staring at the watch? Just gazing at the stars or looking at the clock and awaiting when would dawn come. This game is like that now. India are not picking up wickets but Australia are not able to score the runs at the required rate. The water has risen to dangerous levels now with the Aussies clearly looking to play out their 50 overs and get some batting practice and also not hurting their net run rate. Smith is trying to be posit

33.6 : K Yadav to S Smith, FOUR! What precision! Superb picking of the gap. There is a point, a cover and an extra cover. Kuldeep tosses this one outside off and Smith drives. Trisecting the three fielders. Excellent placement. Half century for Smith, back-to-back ones for him as well.
Hardik Pandya is back on. 8-0-53-0 so far.
34.1 : H Pandya to U Khawaja, A short ball, outside off, Khawaja looks to pull but misses. The ball bounces in front of Dhoni who is unable to stop it and the batsmen sneak a bye.

36.1 : J Bumrah to S Smith, Landed outside off, dabbed towards third man for a single.
36.2 : J Bumrah to U Khawaja, Outside off, a play and a miss.
36.3 : J Bumrah to U Khawaja, Dropped short, pulled straight to short mid-wicket.
36.4 : J Bumrah to U Khawaja, OUT! BOWLED! Khawaja departs, trying to be innovative. A length ball, around off, Usman gets across and looks to paddle. But he is not even close to the pitch of the ball and it cannons off the inside edge, onto the stumps. A decent knock from Khawaja.
Glenn Maxwell arrives, with the license to kill. Whether his cannon will fire or misfire, that will be a wait and watch scenario.
36.5 : J Bumrah to G Maxwell, FOUR! Stunning placement! Maxi starts off with a strike rate of 400. Full on middle, Maxwell drives this straight back past the bowler. Mid on is inside and it beats him to the fence!

37.5 : B Kumar to G Maxwell, A short ball, heaved through mid-wicket for a single.
37.6 : B Kumar to S Smith, FOUR! A boundary to end the over as well! 15 from it. A bad ball, full and down the leg side, Smith gets across and tickles it to the fine leg fence. Australia need 131 from 12 overs but interestingly, India were 225/2 at this stage, just 3 runs ahead!
38.1 : J Bumrah to G Maxwell, FOUR! PLUNDERED! A short ball outside off, Maxwell pulls it over mid-wicket for a boundary!
38.2 : J Bumrah to G Maxwell, Outside off, another short ball, this is pulled straight to deep square leg for a single.

Kohli wanted the fielder to attack the ball and stop the boundary. A touch harsh.
38.5 : J Bumrah to S Smith, FOUR! Nicely played! A short ball, down the leg side, Smith gets across and pulls it over the keeper to the fine leg fence!
38.6 : J Bumrah to S Smith, Outside off, played straight to point. 13 from the over, 28 off the last 2!

Is that a dead duck? A massive appeal for LBW has gone up against gone up. Bhuvneshwar does not look too confident but Dhoni gives a thumbs up for the review. Kohli takes it.
39.4 : B Kumar to S Smith, OUT! Plumb LBW! Hard to see how the umpire missed this one. Probably Ian Gould felt that Smith hit it. A length ball, outside off, cutting back in, Smith, with a huge bat lift, looks to work it to the leg side but misses and is hit on the pads. Bhuvi appeals but umpire Gould shakes his head. Dhoni urges Kohli to go for the review and Kohli does so. Hawk Eye shows the ball to be hitting the leg stump. Gritty knock from Smith ends.
Marcus Stoinis walks in at number 6, replacing Smith.
39.5 : B Kumar to M Stoinis, Outside off, punched towards cover.
39.6 : B Kumar to M Stoinis, OUT! BOWLED! Bhuvneshwar has two in the over and Australia are back in the rubble once more. A length ball outside off, Stoinis lazily looks to run it down towards third man but the bat comes down months late. The ball jags back in, hits the pads and pegs the off stump back! A duck for Stoinis and India probably have more than one-and-a-half foot on the victory path.
Alex Carey is the new man in at number 7, replacing Stoinis. Also, it is time for Powerplay 3. 5 fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle. Yuzvendra Chahal is back on too.

40.4 : Y Chahal to G Maxwell, OUT! Maxwell falls and that probably is now the confirmation that Australia truly and surely do not have any more chance in this game. Tossed up bravely outside off, Maxwell looks to play the slog sweep but only top edges it high in the air. Ravindra Jadeja, the substitute for Shikhar Dhawan, comes running in from deep mid-wicket and takes a decent catch. End of Maxwell's cameo and Australia might just realistically think of losing by a massive margin.
The hero of the last game, Nathan Coulter-Nile, walks out to bat. Can he ingest some life into this contest today as well?
40.5 : Y Chahal to A Carey, On middle, worked through mid-wicket for a couple. Chahal himself goes after the ball and stops it but cannot prevent the couple.

42.5 : Y Chahal to A Carey, 13 now as Carey works it through mid-wicket for one.
42.6 : Y Chahal to N Coulter-Nile, A dot to end but a good over for Australia! Slightly better than the rate they need to go at. 84 needed in 42. This is floated up outside off, Coulter-Nile looks to go over the off side but misses.

44.1 : J Bumrah to A Carey, Outside off, punched through mid off but straight to the fielder.
44.2 : J Bumrah to A Carey, FOUR! Very nicely played! Good adjustment. Carey backs away to the leg side and Bumrah angles in a short ball from around the wicket. Now, Alex initially looks to pull but at the last moment, guides it over the keeper to the third man fence!

44.5 : J Bumrah to N Coulter-Nile, OUT! Coulter-Nile departs. Not his day at all. Kept swinging, slashing but not connecting. Finally got a slower ball that he could connect. But sadly for him, he found Virat Kohli to perfection at deep mid-wicket. Kohli is pumped up after that catch. India edging closer to a massive win.

Mitchell Starc walks in at number 10. 18 balls left. Can Australia try and survive? You never know, if in the later stages of the tournament, net run rate might come into play.
47.1 : B Kumar to A Carey, FOUR! Short and outside off, Carey swings this through mid-wicket and beats the fielder running to his left.

Comprehensive win by India to get their second successive victory in this World Cup. Won an important toss, put up a high total and then bowled exceedingly well to defend. Australia simply did not turn up. Looked ragged and lacklustre but they will take the fact that they managed to bat out their 50 overs and get some runs under their belt.
The pitch did not have much in it and stayed true for most part of the game. But Australia simply did not have the arsenal to chase down 353. David Warner played a bizarre knock of 56 from 84 balls and the middle order just could breathe when choked by 'KulCha'. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah were amongst the wickets, sharing 3 apiece while Chahal snared Warner and Maxwell.
Questions will be posed on Australia's bowling, fielding and Warner's batting. The team seemed to lack purpose and it was as if they were not mentally present. They did not have any answer to Dhawan and Rohit's onslaught, or Kohli's punishments or Pandya's whips. Ended up conceding way too many runs. Wonder what might have happened had Carey taken that catch to dismiss Hardik on 0. Here comes the presentation...
SHIKHAR DHAWAN HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. States that the team is very happy with the result and the fact that everyone performed is a great sign for the unit. Feels that India have a very balanced side which includes a good set of fast bowlers. Stresses that the team works very hard in the nets and which is why the results go their way. Agrees that India ticked all their boxes in the game, first putting up a good total and then the bowlers backing it up amazingly. Wants the team to ma
Australian captain, Aaron Finch says 120 runs in the last 10 overs was a lot and he feels they did not bowl well in the end. He feels they did not get wickets early on. Further adds India had wickets in hand at the end and with set batters out there, run-stopping is tough. States there was not a lot on offer with the new ball but they could have been a lot straighter. Stresses you need wickets against this Indian batting line-up. Tells they assess the conditions and then make a decision, they wi
Victorious Indian captain, Virat Kohli, says that this was a top win, especially after losing the bilateral series in India. Stresses that the team wanted to prove a point and came out with intent, right from the openers, then towards the death and eventually the bowlers. Cites this as a complete professional performance. Says that one cannot just take things for granted because you have got 350 on the board and you have to bowl well but those extra 30 runs do give a cushion. States further that
That is it from game number 14. Australia's 10-match winning streak has been broken. They drop down to 4th in the points table while India move up to 3rd. Monday sees South Africa taking on West Indies in Southampton at 10.30 am local (0930 GMT). A must-win game for the Proteas to turn their horrible fortune around. Until then, ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
