Commentary :
0.0 : Hello and welcome to the second ODI between India and Australia. Change in format bought change in fortunes for the hosts. They are 1-0 up in the series and will look to make it two-in-two and make it difficult for the visitors to come back in the series. Australia, meanwhile will look to find their T20I form and get back into the series. A very exciting cricketing clash awaits us. Stay tuned for further updates...
PITCH REPORT - Murali Kartik and Sunil Gavaskar are doing the pitch report. The former asks the latter what he reckons about the pitch. Sunil Gavaskar says it is a pitch made for the spinners. Mentions there are quite a lot of cracks on it and the team batting second will have a harder time as the pitch will probably get more difficult. Informs the boundaries here are long and batters are not going to have a good time. Reckons the captain winning the toss should probably bat first.
TOSS - Up goes the coin and it once again lands in the favor of Australia. To the surprise of everyone, THEY ARE BOWLING FIRST.
Australian skipper, Aaron Finch, expects it to spin early on but then become easy to bat when the lights come on. Mentions they did not have a good game in the last one but still managed to get close. A better effort with the ball and the bat here might just see them end on the right side. Informs that Lyon and Marsh come in place of Turner and Behrendorff.
Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, says they wanted to bat first. Mentions it looks dry and there is not going to be a lot of dew in the second innings. Reckons the pitch seems like it would just get worse. He expects the wicket to be low and slow and they will have to adapt to it quickly. Ends by saying their middle order came to the fore in the previous game which is a very good thing.
We are all set for the action to begin. Out come the players and the umpires. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are the openers for India. The right-hander will be on strike and he will be facing Pat Cummins who has the first new ball in hand. A slip and a gully in place for him. Here we go...
0.1 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, Goes very full and on the stumps, a hint of outswing for the bowler there. Rohit Sharma with a straight bat but minimal foot movement, strokes it to mid off. Starts off right on the money does Pat.
0.2 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, Full again, some swing again. Rohit once again does not put in a long enough stride but still guides it towards point. Maxwell there makes a good stop diving to his right.
0.3 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, BEAUTY! More movement for Cummins this time. Third full ball in a row. It is outside off and goes away further. Rohit goes after it but gets beaten. Not moving his feet here is Rohit. Understandable though as it is early in his innings. However, that maybe the reason why Cummins is bowling so full.
0.4 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, Drags his length back this time and attacks the off pole. Rohit defends it on the leg side.
0.5 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, On a length again, no swing on the two deliveries which were not bowled full. Rohit easily keeps it out.
0.6 : Pat Cummins to R Sharma, OUT! In the air... taken! Cummins' excellent first over ends with a wicket. However, this was probably the worst ball he bowled in this over. He won't care though as Australia strike early. This one is short and wide outside off, Rohit senses an opportunity to get off the mark, so he goes for the cut shot. There is extra bounce though on that one and hence, Rohit can't get on top of it. He gets a top edge which flies down to third man. Zampa there takes a few steps
Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, walks out to the middle. Aslo, Nathan Coulter-Nile to bowl from the other end with the second new ball.
1.1 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, The inswinger but down the leg side. It has been wided. First run for India courtesy an extra.
N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, FOUR! Dhawan off the mark in style! First boundary of the game is off his bat. Easy pickings for him. It is full and on the pads, Dhawan flicks it. It is right off the middle and it races to the fence. This is should give him confidence after he was dismissed for not a lot in the last game.
1.2 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Another crisp drive but straight to the cover fielder. Good shorts to begin with by Dhawan.
1.3 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Coulter-Nile finally gets his line right as he lands it on a length and around off. Dhawan blocks it.
1.4 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Length again but the line is outside off, left alone.
1.5 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Closer to the off pole this time and the length is similar. Dhawan guides it to point.
1.6 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, A couple to end an expensive first by NCN! Slightly straighter again, Dhawan works it through mid on and takes a brace. 7 from Nathan's first. Not what Australia wanted, they would have liked Coulter-Nile to bowl a good follow-up over after Cummins bowled an excellent first.
2.1 : Pat Cummins to V Kohli, Way too wide outside off, Kohli will not be going after it so early in his innings.
2.2 : Pat Cummins to V Kohli, Uppish but away from the fielder at gully. Full and outside off, a little shape away. Kohli looks to drive but he gets an outside edge through backward point and down towards third man for a run. The skipper is off the mark.
2.3 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, On the fuller side again and this one comes back into the left-hander. Dhawan hits it uppishly but well short of the bowler.
2.4 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, On the fuller side again, Dhawan guides it to point.
2.5 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Short and on the body, Dhawan defends it onto the ground by taking a hand off the handle.
2.6 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, That was quick! Back of a length and shoots off the surface. Dhawan is on his toes as he guides it to point. Another excellent over by Cummins comes to an end.
3.1 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, On the fuller side and outside off, an area where Kohli is a touch vulnerable. Virat though takes his foot right to the pitch of the ball and strokes it to mid off.
3.2 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, FOUR! The on-drive, probably the hardest shot in the game and it is played to perfection here. Full and on off, Kohli shuffles across and then with a straight bat strokes it to mid on. A boundary, his first.
3.3 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, This time he drives it to mid off, can't find the gap though.
3.4 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, FOUR! A little too straight and NCN pays the price. Full and on middle, Kohli this time uses his wrists and works it through mid-wicket. No stopping those. Second boundary in the over.
3.5 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, Better from Nathan Coulter-Nile! Drags his length back and bowls it on off. Kohli defends it confidently.
3.6 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, Works it with the angle to the man at mid on. A dot to end another expensive over by Coulter-Nile. Not a good start for him.
4.1 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Length delivery and on middle, Dhawan keeps it out.
4.2 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Just ahead of a length this time, Dhawan plays a nice drive but straight to cover.
4.3 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, FOUR! Hammered away! Short and on middle, Dhawan is quickly onto the back foot and he pulls it hard through mid-wicket for a boundary. Raining boundaries here.
4.4 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Full and outside off, Dhawan looks to drive but his bat turns in his hands. Mistimes the ball to covers.
4.5 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, FOUR! Dhawan is looking in great touch here! Just a little bit of width on offer outside off and that was enough for the opener. He goes back and then guides it through point, it races away to the fence.
4.6 : Pat Cummins to S Dhawan, Length and outside off, left alone. 8 from this over as well, 16 from the last two.
5.1 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, Goes wide of the crease and lands it on off, Kohli guides it to point.
5.2 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, Good length and on off again, Kohli strokes it on the up to the man at covers.
5.3 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, Edgy run! A little more wider outside off, Kohli looks to stroke it on the up, the ball goes off the outer half, all along the ground to third man for a single.
5.4 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, FOUR! Poor bowling this is! Down the leg side, Dhawan says thank you very much. He helps it on its way to the fine leg fence.
5.5 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, The batsman has pushed it to the cover region.
5.6 : N Coulter-Nile to S Dhawan, Two good deliveries to end! Length again and on off, Dhawan blocks it out.

6.4 : G Maxwell to S Dhawan, An appeal but nothing. Flatter and this one drifts in from outside off. Dhawan plays it really late. Maxwell appeals as he feels it is pad first but the umpire shakes his head. Right call from the umpire and replays confirm that.
6.5 : G Maxwell to S Dhawan, Another one which drifts in from outside off. Dhawan blocks it.
6.6 : G Maxwell to S Dhawan, On the pads, SD looks to flick but misses. A muted appeal but nothing from the umpire. Going down leg. A good first over by Maxwell.

7.3 : A Zampa to S Dhawan, Flatter and on middle, Kohli goes back and pushes it towards mid on and gets to the other end.

7.5 : A Zampa to S Dhawan, A little too full this time, Dhawan works it across the angle towards mid-wicket. Maxwell there dives to his right and makes a very good stop.
7.6 : A Zampa to S Dhawan, The googly to end! Dhawan works it towards fine leg and takes a single. 6 from Zampa's first and India going along well after the early wicket.
8.1 : G Maxwell to S Dhawan, A little too full on off, Dhawan drives it really nicely but to the man at covers.
8.2 : G Maxwell to S Dhawan, This one is angled into the batsman, Dhawan goes back and very late guides it to point.
Review time! A huge shout for an LBW has not been given. Maxwell is pretty confident and he wants it to be reviewed. Finch does so, Dhawan is the man in question. Looks close though.
8.3 : G Maxwell to S Dhawan, OUT! Three reds and Dhawan has to take the long walk back! What a review by Australia and Maxwell has struck gold here. He is absolutely elated. The offie has cut short the partnership which was looking very good and also brought the downfall of Dhawan who was timing the ball really well. Maxwell does what he has been doing till now. Fires it in on middle, Dhawan goes back to whip, he though misses and is hit on the front pad. An appeal follows, a loud one from the bo
Ambati Rayudu walks in at number 4, replacing Dhawan.

9.5 : Pat Cummins to A Rayudu, This one comes in, but stays low as well. Ambati stays back to defend but gets a thick inside edge onto his pads.
9.6 : Pat Cummins to A Rayudu, Oops.... that is a hoick. Rayudu comes down the track and has a wild swing but is nowhere near the pitch of the ball. Gets a thick inside edge onto his pads which rolls away to the off side. That is a very, very rash shot. Kohli will not be happy seeing that. Cummins has a word with Rayudu, followed by a smile. 28.1 : A Zampa to V Shankar, FOUR! Straight as an arrow! He is playing a gem here. This is tossed up on middle, Shankar lunges forward and then hits it over the bowler's head for a boundary.
28.2 : A Zampa to V Shankar, Hits it well again, uppishly but well short of the man at long off. A run.
28.3 : A Zampa to V Kohli, Shortish and outside off, Kohli guides it to point.
28.4 : A Zampa to V Kohli, FOUR! Too full and it has been put away! Gives it a little more air but lands it very full. Kohli leans into it and strokes it through covers. It is away from the sweeper and a boundary.
Is that the end of Shankar's innings? It would be a very unfortunate way if it is. The umpire has gone upstairs to check. First, whether the bowler has touched the ball, second, if Shankar has made it in.
28.5 : A Zampa to V Kohli, OUT! Yes, the ball has flicked the finger tips and Shankar is short of his crease. He walks back in disappointment and disgust. He was playing so well out there, so fluent and his innings ends in a very unfortunate manner. Australia though will be relieved as this partnership was taking the game away from them. Zampa tosses this up, once again it is very full. Kohli smashes it towards the bowler who sticks his hand out to the right. The ball then goes onto hit the stump
Kedar Jadhav comes in at number 6, replacing Shankar.
28.6 : A Zampa to V Kohli, On off, kept out. End of an action packed over, 9 runs but more importantly a wicket from it.
29.1 : N Lyon to K Jadhav, Around middle, Jadhav works it through square leg for a single.
29.2 : N Lyon to V Kohli, Action replay of the previous delivery, sans the striker.
29.3 : N Lyon to K Jadhav, Landed outside off, spinning in, watchfully defended.
29.4 : N Lyon to K Jadhav, Excellent fielding effort from Peter Handscomb. Short and outside off, Kedar cuts it behind point. The ball rolls away to the fence bu Handscomb races to his right and dives full stretch to his left, landing awkwardly on his left shoulder. He manages to save the boundary but clutches his left shoulder in pain. Hope he is okay. Three runs taken.
29.5 : N Lyon to V Kohli, Around off, short in length, Kohli looks to cut but the ball stays low and takes the under edge towards point.
29.6 : N Lyon to V Kohli, Short again, this is pulled straight to square leg.

31.4 : N Lyon to K Jadhav, The straighter one on middle, Jadhav plays inside the line, it goes off the outside edge towards point for a run.
31.5 : N Lyon to V Kohli, This is bowled at 97 kph and it is outside off. Kohli looks to guide it past short third man who is finer and hence it is straight to him.
31.6 : N Lyon to V Kohli, A dot to end! Just a run from this one as Kohli defends it off the back foot.
32.1 : A Zampa to K Jadhav, FOUR! Inside edge and a boundary! This is outside off, Jadhav looks to sweep but it takes the inside edge, goes between the legs of the keeper and into the third man fence.
32.2 : A Zampa to K Jadhav, OUT! Zampa strikes! Australia have two in quick succession and India now have half their side back in the hut. The hero of the last game, fails to make an impact here. Adam floats it up outside off, once again it is very full. That though plays in the advantage of the bowler as the batsman looks to go over covers. He fails to get underneath the ball and hence, does not get the desired elevation. Ends up hitting it flat and hard towards cover where Finch takes a sharp c
MS Dhoni comes out now, at number 7, to a deafening roar.
32.3 : A Zampa to MS Dhoni, OUT! Two-in-two for Zampa and the two batsmen who steered India home in the last game, are dismissed. Excellent captaincy as Finch brought in the slip fielder for the new batsman but you can also question the shot here. Zampa bowls it flatter and outside off, it pitches and turns away a little. Dhoni looks to guide it towards third man but there is not a lot of width on offer. The ball takes the outside edge and flies towards Khawaja at first slip. He too takes a sharp
Ravindra Jadeja walks in at number 8, replacing Dhoni, to face the hat-trick ball.
32.4 : A Zampa to R Jadeja, NO hat-trick as it is safely negotiated. Flatter and on middle, Jadeja goes back and works it to short fine leg.
32.5 : A Zampa to R Jadeja, Just short! Zampa has started to find the right line and length here. Bowls the googly around off, it pitches and turns. Jadeja lunges and tries to defend but the ball takes the outside edge and falls just short of first slip. The key there was he played that with soft hands.
32.6 : A Zampa to R Jadeja, Outside off, left alone. 4 runs and two wickets from the over. Is this the over which changes the momentum in Australia's favor?
33.1 : N Lyon to V Kohli, Full and around off, writes through square leg for a comfortable couple. Both these batsmen are quick between the wickets. Replays show that Kohli took the second run by running right in the middle of the pitch. Right in the middle.
33.2 : N Lyon to V Kohli, Goes back and plays it with the turn towards short fine leg for a single.
33.3 : N Lyon to R Jadeja, Full and around off, watchfully defended.
STUMPING APPEAL! Not much celebrations from the Aussies. Did Jadeja get his back foot back in time? Referred upstairs...
33.4 : N Lyon to R Jadeja, SAFE! Just by an inch! Beautiful bowling from Lyon in the first place. Tossed up outside off, Jadeja came forward to defend but then the ball spun away and bounced. Jaddu missed while lunging and in that process, his back foot was lifted in the air. Alex Carey did collect but to the naked eye it seemed like he took just that extra second to take the bails off. Replays show that the back foot landed on the line, then skid back in by just a fraction. Yes. JUST a fraction,
33.5 : N Lyon to R Jadeja, Short and outside off, cut through point for a run.
33.6 : N Lyon to V Kohli, Around middle and leg, worked through fine leg for one.

36.6 : G Maxwell to V Kohli, Down the leg side, the umpire stretches his hands sideways.
G Maxwell to V Kohli, Shot! Excellent wrist work! Kohli whips it of the off stump. It is in the gap in the mid-wicket region. Handscomb there runs to his left, slides and collects the ball. He then tries to parry it to the Coulter-Nile who runs to his right from long on. His throw is a touch wide and the two runs become easy for the batsmen.
Pat Cummins is back on now.
37.1 : Pat Cummins to R Jadeja, On a good length around middle, watchfully defended.
37.2 : Pat Cummins to R Jadeja, This one nips back in, Jadeja looks to defend but the ball takes the inside edge and hits him on the pads, rolling down to the leg side. The batsmen scamper a single as Cummins and Carey appeal for LBW. Umpire Dharmasena informs Cummins that there was bat involved.
37.3 : Pat Cummins to V Kohli, FOUR! Not often do you see Kohli throwing his bat! This is one of those rare occasions. Short and outside off, the Indian skipper latches onto the width and gets it behind point for a boundary!

37.5 : Pat Cummins to R Jadeja, Full and straight, watchfully defended.

39.1 : Pat Cummins to V Kohli, Angles it into the pads, Kohli works it towards mid-wicket.
39.2 : Pat Cummins to V Kohli, Direct hit needed... but missed! Kohli was way short there. Length ball and around off, VK taps it towards point and wants a run. He is off, but Jadeja is not interested. Kohli though is a long way down. He tries and turns to get in but that does not seem possible. To his luck though, Maxwell misses his shy at the striker's end. The fielder backing up is too deep and an overthrow is taken. Lucky reprieve there and Australia will feel, this is the chance they needed
39.3 : Pat Cummins to R Jadeja, On the shorter side and outside off, Jadeja guides it down to third man for a run.

43.1 : N Coulter-Nile to V Kohli, FOUR! Gets to his ton in style! Century no. 40. Magnificent ton this is from the Indian skipper. An innings of a lot of character and determination. A ton on wicket which has played a lot of tricks. Leading from the front is the skipper. He gets there with a cut shot. It races to the point fence. Takes his helmet off and soaks in the applause. He knows he needs to be there till the end. Also, now that he has got to his milestone, you might just see him up the ant

Adam Zampa is back now.
44.1 : A Zampa to V Kohli, Flatter and on the pads, it is flicked through mid-wicket for a run.
44.2 : A Zampa to R Jadeja, DROPPED! That should have been taken! A little short and on middle, Jadeja goes back and pulls it. It is not off the middle and it is to the right of Stoinis at deep mid-wicket. He runs to his right and gets two hands to it but fails to hang on. The batsmen take two. How costly will this prove? Had he taken this, Australia would have been into the bowlers then.

44.4 : A Zampa to V Kohli, On the off stump, Kohli taps it towards cover for a run.

45.5 : Pat Cummins to R Jadeja, OUT! Jadeja perishes in the attempt to up the ante! However, he has played a good supporting role here. So the dropped catch has not cost a lot. Cummins bowls the slower one and on off. The idea of the shot was not wrong as Jadeja looked to go over mid off. He got it off the bottom though. It lobs towards mid off and Khawaja there takes it after taking a few steps back. A handy 67-run stand for India comes to an end.

46.6 : A Zampa to K Yadav, Good running. Tossed up delivery on middle and leg, Yadav sweeps it wide of square leg and looks for two straight away. They get that easily as the throw is a poor one from the fielder.
47.1 : Pat Cummins to V Kohli, OUT! Straight to the fielder! The best bowler for Australia today, gets the best batsman for India. Kohli can't believe it as he stands there, looks down and then turns and starts walking back. He returns dejected but to a standing ovation by the crowd here and he deserves it. Another brilliant innings from him. He falls prey to the short ball which he pulls nicely but does not get the desired distance. Stoinis at deep square leg takes a good sliding catch. Cummins
0.0 : Mohammed Shami replaces his skipper out in the middle.
47.2 : Pat Cummins to M Shami, On a length and around off, Shami blocks it out.
47.3 : Pat Cummins to M Shami, On the slower side outside off, Shami plays it nicely with an angled bat but hits it too close to the keeper. He takes it on the bounce.
47.4 : Pat Cummins to M Shami, On the pads, the batter works it down to fine leg for a run.
47.5 : Pat Cummins to K Yadav, OUT! TIMBER! Four-fer for Cummins! The slower one has done in Kuldeep completely. It is on the leg stump, Yadav shuffles way too across and tries to flick but is quite early into the stroke. He misses and the ball hits the stumps behind.
Jasprit Bumrah walks out at number 11 for India.
47.6 : Pat Cummins to J Bumrah, A dot to end! Just a run and two wickets from the 48th over. On the stumps, it is blocked.

A decent bowling effort from the Australian side. They will be happy with where they are at the moment but India too won't be very disappointed. However, they would feel they could have done better after Vijay Shankar and Virat Kohli's 81-run stand. They joined association after the Australians got rid of Rayudu, Dhawan and Rohit pretty quickly. The Indians were in a spot of bother at 75 for three but then Shankar and Kohli played themselves in. The former, once he got his eye in, started to acc
Zampa then got rid of Dhoni and Jadhav in the very same over. The Australia bowlers then managed to pull things back but India still had Kohli at one end. He went onto to score a brilliant ton. Jadeja played the perfect foil to him and the two added yet another handy stand. However, when the time came to accelerate, the latter perished. Kohli too followed him and then the tail failed to contribute much. From 238 for 6 in the 46th over, the hosts have been bundled out for 250.
For Australia, Pat Cummins was the pick of the bowlers. He was given the responsibility of bowling with the new ball. Did well and then was also excellent at the death. Lyon was economical. Zampa was poor initially but pulled things back well in the end. Nathan Coulter-Nile though had a day to forget as he was wayward and expensive.
Now then 251 is the target! Not going to be an easy chase this for the Australians. The wicket is on the slower side and there is turn for the spinners. The visitors will have to bat really well here. Will India go 2-0 up or will the visitors level the series? Join us in a while to find out.
