Oman elected to bowl after winning the toss for the second time in a row and they have executed their game plan perfectly right from the word go. A quick interview with Aamir Kaleem. He starts by thanking the Almighty and says that this performance has made his birthday special. Feels the wicket is not easy to bat on as the ball was gripping. A easy chase in the end for Oman! Yes, there were moments in between where it seemed Hong Kong cold get back into the game but overall, the Oman batters did a decent job. Chasing a small total, Oman got off to a decent start but then lost three quickly. However, a 50-plus run stand between Maqsood and Ilyas swa them get over the line.
The Hong Kong bowling was decent, their bowlers did give it their all, especially their spinners. Barkat and Kinchit were the pick of the bowlers. Overall though they did not have enough runs on the board to play with.
Earlier in the day, the Oman bowlers were brilliant, it was because of them their side were in the position they were in, in the second half. Aamir Kaleem and Khawar Ali were the pick with three-fers and it is their effort which saw Oman win their second game in a row.
MAN OF THE MATCH, Aamir Kaleem, says it is a special day for him and his teammates made it special by winning this match. States they are working pretty hard and it is paying off, even in the series they played before this, they won all their games. Further adds they are now looking forward to the upcoming games. On the stumping wicket, he says he saw the batter stepping out and hence fired it wide outside off. Ends by saying, he dedicates the award to his family and his team.
Honk Kong skipper, Aizaz Khan, says they did not have enough runs on the board. Further adds they needed something around 140. States Oman's spinners were very good but one of their top order batters should have played well. Mentions fielding and bowling was good, their spinners too did well but there wasn't enough runs on the board. Reckons the pitch was a touch slow and they need to adapt to such pitches. States he needs to lead from the front and hopefully they can do better in the next game.
Oman skipper, Zeeshan Maqsood, says it is a very good win for them. He feels their bowlers were brilliant and were right on the spot. Reckons the wicket kept getting slower and it is not easy to hit the balls. Further adds they trust their skills and back themselves. Ends by saying Ireland is a good team and they are looking forward to that game.
So that is it from this game! We look forward to your company on Monday for all the action from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier. Do join us. Cheers!
