Strategic break! Rajasthan have done pretty well to get back in the game after a bit of a blitz from Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill after the Powerplay. They got rid of Pandya and then the spinners built up pressure on the new man David Miller. Miller though has started to look good now but the loss of a well-set Gill could prove to be vital. 19.6 : A flurry of big hits toward the end from the likes of David Miller and Abhinav Manohar has seen Gujarat post a solid total of 177 runs. It was a topsy-turvy first inning but going into the break, Rajasthan will be the slightly happier of the two sides.
Gujarat were pegged back early as Wriddhiman Saha fell in the very first over. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill looked to be forming a gritty stand but the former was run out and Gujarat looked in trouble. The skipper then walked in and played flamboyantly and Gill too found his groove. Pandya fell looking to keep up the ante and Gill too couldn't stay on for much longer. It was then some big hitting from Abhinav Manohar and David Miller in the death overs that really fired Gujarat to a total
Sandeep Sharma to Rahul Tewatia, Only a single to end the innings then! Sandeep Sharma nails the yorker once again, outside off, Rahul Tewatia reaches for it, but only manages to jam it towards long off for a run. Gujarat finish on 177/7!
Rajasthan will be a tad bit disappointed with that bowling effort as there were occasions in the first innings that they had Gujarat on the back foot but simply couldn't capitalize. Trent Boult got an early wicket but was pretty expensive. The spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up just a single wicket in between them and went for a bit of runs as well. Adam Zampa though bowled really well and picked up a wicket. The pick of the bowlers once again was Sandeep SharmaÂ
Yuzvendra Chahal is down for a quick chat. He says that there is a lot of dew and it was difficult to get a grip on the ball. Adds that he was happy with being the leading wicket-taker last season, but he wants the trophy this time. Tells that their spinners did a good job in the last game and that is why they went with Adam Zampa and Jason Holder was unwell too. Mentions that it is a bit difficult to hit the spinners sometimes in the death overs and they can get wickets too. Ends by saying
