0.0 : Hello and a warm welcome to the our coverage of the final Test match of the series between England and West Indies. It has all come to a decider after 2 terrific Test matches, and this one promises to be another cracker. England have plenty of selection headaches regarding their bowlers, but it is a good headache to have considering the options that Root has to call upon. West Indies, on the other hand, would need to decide if they want to rest some of their bowlers and give someone else a chanc
Toss - Up goes the coin and it lands in favour of WEST INDIES. The visitors have elected to field first.
West Indies skipper, Jason Holder, informs about the big change and that is RAHKEEM CORNWALL WILL BE PLAYING, replacing Alzarri Joseph. He feels that there was enough in the pitch in the 2nd Test match for the spinners, and hence the decision. Tells that Shannon Gabriel is fine to play in this Test match and hence retains his place.
England skipper, Joe Root, informs that Zak Crawley, unfortunately, misses out. James Anderson and Jofra Archer are in the starting XI after missing the 2nd Test match with Sam Curran the other one to miss out. Root sounds happy with the balance of his side and hints that Stokes will be utilized as a bowler only if he is fit.
West Indies (Playing XI) - Kraigg Brathwaite, John Campbell, Shai Hope, Shamarh Brooks, Roston Chase, Jermaine Blackwood, Shane Dowrich (WK), Jason Holder (C), Rahkeem Cornwall (IN FOR ALZARRI JOSEPH), Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel.
England (Playing XI) - Rory Burns, Dom Sibley, Joe Root (C), Ben Stokes, Ollie Pope, Jos Buttler (WK), Chris Woakes, Dom Bess, Jofra Archer (IN FOR ZAK CRAWLEY), Stuart Broad, James Anderson (IN FOR SAM CURRAN).
West Indies skipper, Jason Holder says that there is a moisture in the surface and it is overcast hence the deision to bowl. Informs, Rakheem Cornwall comes in for Alzarri Joseph. Says there was enough for the spinners in the last game and hence the change. Tells both teams will be looking to win the game and the trophy.
England skipper, Joe Root, says that he is okay to bat. Informs Crawley and Sam Curran miss out and Archer and nderson come in their place. On Archer, Root says he is ready to play and has been bowling with full pace and he knows he has the full support of his teammates. Tells Stokes is in great form and hopes it can continue. On whether he can bowl, he says they will have to wait and see.
We are all set for the action to begin. The West Indies players are in a huddle before they take their position in the field. Dom Sibley and Rory Burns walk out to open the innings for the host. Kemar Roach has the new ball in hand. Before the start all players take a knee in support of Black Lives Matter. Now we are all set to play as the umpire says play. The decider is underway!
0.1 : K Roach to Burns, First ball of the day and England are underway straightaway! Roach starts with a full ball just outside off, Burns looks to defend but the ball goes off the inside half of the bat towards mid-wicket and the batters take a single.
0.2 : K Roach to Sibley, Very full ball way outside off, left alone by Sibley. Not much movement for Roach yet.
0.3 : K Roach to Sibley, Again way outside off by Roach, Sibley is not in the mood to go after it.
0.4 : K Roach to Sibley, Third ball in a row which is outside off by Roach, Sibley shuffles a bit towards the off side but lets the ball through to Dowrich.
0.5 : K Roach to Sibley, Almost a mix-up! This time Roach tries to attack the stumps but bowls it just outside off, Sibley flicks this one towards mid-wicket. Campbell from square leg moves across and dives to stop the ball. Burns was on his bike but Sibley sent him back just in time. Not what England need right now!
0.6 : Roach to Sibley, OUT! LBW! That is a big, big wicket for West Indies and what a start for the West Indies! Roach this time is successful in attacking the stumps, bowls it on a good length, angling in a bit to the right-hander. Sibley looks to flick this towards mid-wicket but is wrapped on the pads. Roach and West Indies put in a whole-hearted appeal and the umpire raises his dreaded finger. Sibley, who got such a good century in the last Test, departs in the first over in this one. England
Skipper, Joe Root walks out to bat. Shannon Gabriel to partner Kemar Roach with the new ball.

3.1 : S Gabriel to Root, Length delivery outside off, Root lets it carry to the keeper.
3.2 : S Gabriel to Root, Good length ball coming in from outside off, Root is aware of his off pole and shoulders arms to it.

3.4 : S Gabriel to Root, This time he is beaten. On a length outside off, Joe looks to defend but the ball straightens a touch and beats him.
3.5 : Gabriel to Root, Root escapes an LBW verdict! Excellent bowling from West Indies so far. The lines and lengths have been really immaculate. This is just behind a length, outside off and Root looks to defend. The ball pitches and then comes back in sharply. Now, smart that Root is, he keeps his bat behind the pad, as if showing that he is playing a shot. But he is actually isn't. However, the umpire feels that he is playing a shot. So he feels the impact is outside off and gives it not out.

4.1 : K Roach to Root, Outside off, on a length, a play and a miss.

Gabriel pulls out...
Oh dear. Something isn't right. Gabriel is not feeling okay. He walks off gingerly, clutching his hamstring. Always a big call, playing a fast bowler for three straight Tests. KEMAR ROACH will continue.

DRINKS BREAK. Good hour of play for the tourists as they have seen the back of marathon man from the last game, Dom Sibley. They have also managed to keep things quiet and tight. West Indies will be a bit relieved to see Gabriel run in. He pulled up twice in his 4th over, in the first spell but has come out pretty quickly, without taking too long a break. 26.6 : S Gabriel to Burns, On a length on middle, Burns flicks it through square leg for a single. THAT WILL BE LUNCH ON DAY 1!
A good session for the tourists and they have justified Holder's decision to bowl first at least in the first session. They got rid of last Test's marathon man, Dom Sibley early on. Root and Burns were weathering the storm before Chase's brilliant effort in the field ended the 46-run stand. Ben Stokes and Burns though ensured there were no more casualties before the end of the first session. England will hope Burns and their messiah, Ben Stokes take them out of troubled waters and help them put
West Indies, on the other hand, will look to build on the first session and unlike the last game keep chipping away at wickets regularly. Who will the second session belong to? Join us at 1340 local (1240 GMT) for the second session.
... Day 1, Session 2 ...
We are back for the second session. The West Indies players are out in the middle. Rory Burns and Ben Stokes will resume their innings for England.
Cannot see Shannon Gabriel anywhere. Not that my eyesight is the best, but given that the population these days on a cricket ground is fairly less, it is easier to spot players. That will be a concern for West Indies. Not my spotting, Gabriel's absence...

A short ball, around off, Stokes looked to pull but was hurried into the shot. Extra pace from Roach. The ball went off something to the keeper and there was a noise. There was a mild appeal but nothing much in it. The ball hit the helmet.
We have a slight delay. The physio is out, as is the norm, when the ball hits the batsman. Stokes looks to be in some sort of pain.
34.3 : K Roach to Ben Stokes, FOUR! No stopping that. Short ball but Ben is ready. Camps back and pulls it with disdain through mid-wicket. Bring 'em on!
34.4 : K Roach to Stokes, Good length ball, watchfully defended.
34.5 : K Roach to Stokes, Full and wide outside off, the tempter, left alone.
34.6 : Roach to Ben Stokes, OUT! BOWLED! Stokes stands in disbelief. What happened? A ball has gone through the gate. Massive gap between bat and pad. Kaboom! On a length, just outside off, Stokes looks to defend but a bit lazily. There is no foot movement but the ball moves. There is a big gap between bat and pad and the ball finds that. Off and middle pegs hit. Stokes is a goner!
Who's in next? West Indies seamers are on fire here. England need a good partnership here. Ollie Pope has come in.
35.1 : R Cornwall to Burns, Full to begin with, around off, Burns blocks it in front of short leg.
35.2 : R Cornwall to Burns, Faster, around middle, tucked straight to short leg again.
35.3 : R Cornwall to Burns, Less flight this time, around off, pushed to the off side.
35.4 : R Cornwall to Burns, Aha... use of the feet. Burns dances down and pushes it towards mid on.
35.5 : R Cornwall to Burns, Oohhh... a bit aerial, but just wide of short leg! Full and on the pads, Rory looks to flick but gets it off the inner half. Just past short leg!
35.6 : R Cornwall to Burns, Full and straight, well blocked out. Nice complimenting over from Cornwall. Nothing adventurous. This means Roach will have the new man on strike.
One can just sense some change in momentum. Since Lunch. The fielders look a bit more charged up. And then, from nowhere, Stokes got out. Good chance for West Indies to expose this soft underbelly of a middle order.
36.1 : K Roach to Pope, Easy. Just too easy. New man, get a straight ball. What do I need to do? Flick it away and I am underway. A single to square leg.
36.2 : K Roach to Burns, That is a shocker. Full and miles outside off, Rory does not even need to play that. Nearly outside the pitch! Roach is letting away some momentum go.
36.3 : K Roach to Burns, Outside off, Burns watchfully lets it go. This was a lot closer than the previous one.
36.4 : K Roach to Burns, Fuller in length, around off, well kept out.
36.5 : K Roach to Burns, On a length, outside off, moving away, shouldered arms to.
Dozing! There are less people on the ground these days. And of those, the cameraman spots a lad with his sunglasses on, but dozing. Too much for him. Must have had a heavy lunch.
36.6 : K Roach to Burns, A fine ball to end the over. Fullish and just straightening a touch, RB defends it watchfully. A maiden over but really not of much use from Roach. A bit too wayward.
37.1 : R Cornwall to Pope, Full and outside off, watchfully blocked out.
37.2 : R Cornwall to Pope, Around off, Pope comes down the track and pushes it towards short mid-wicket.
37.3 : R Cornwall to Pope, Flatter, around off, Ollie goes back to block again.
37.4 : R Cornwall to Pope, Similar ball, same defensive stroke from Pope.
37.5 : R Cornwall to Pope, The use of the feet again. Pope dances out and works it towards short mid-wicket.
37.6 : R Cornwall to Pope, Decent shot. Quicker one, fired in with the arm, Pope goes back and punches it past first slip. That fielder himself has to run all the way towards third man. John Campbell it is. Three runs taken.
Interesting stance from Pope in that last Cornwall over. Covered all his stumps, then walked across.
38.1 : K Roach to Pope, Another one on the helmet. The umpire is in Pope's ears. Excellent short ball from Roach. This is around off, Ollie looks to pull but is beaten by pace. The ball rockets onto the helmet and then deflects towards square leg. A leg bye taken.
0.0 : The physio is out again, to check for concussion signs. Pope looks just a touch dazzled. Looks at his helmet and finally, the smile comes out. Must have been on some question asked by the physio. Nice. He looks fine. Good to continue.
38.2 : K Roach to Burns, Another bouncer, this time to a different batsman. Burns ducks under it calmly.
38.3 : K Roach to Burns, There comes the sucker ball. Full and outside off. Asking to be driven. Is driven, but with proper footwork. Straight to cover.
38.4 : K Roach to Burns, Full and outside off again, but this time Rory gets across and pokes it into the leg side. Towards mid-wicket where there is a yawning gap. Easy couple taken.
38.5 : K Roach to Burns, Fractionally shorter than full, outside off, but a touch wide. RB lets it pass.
38.6 : K Roach to Burns, Aahhh... nearly! Full and miles wide outside off, Burns almost goes after it. The thought is there for the drive but then, he bails out, at the last moment. The slip cordon is cheering on Roach.
39.1 : R Cornwall to Pope, Full and outside off, not much pace, watchfully defended.
39.2 : R Cornwall to Pope, Now Pope comes down the track and works it through mid-wicket. Poor fielding from Roston Chase. He ambles after the ball and the batsmen spot that. There is a fumble as well near the ropes and the batsmen take the third on the throw.
39.3 : R Cornwall to Burns, Shorter, outside off, played straight to point.
39.4 : R Cornwall to Burns, Fuller and pushed towards point. Chase is the fielder again and England think about the single and get it. Hang on. Here is the reason. While fielding the ball, Chase got an extra bounce. Hence fumbled. That would have stung him on his arm.
39.5 : R Cornwall to Pope, Flatter outside off, watchfully kept out.
39.6 : R Cornwall to Pope, The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
He is back! Shannon Gabriel, that is. We are informed that he has bowled on every single day of this series where we have had play. Yet, he is playing all the three Tests!
40.1 : S Gabriel to Burns, On a good length, around off, well pushed to the off side.
40.2 : S Gabriel to Burns, Fullish and around off, pushed towards cover.
One of my colleagues has a good insight into the Ben Stokes' dismissal! He opines that Ben was standing outside the crease and Roach pushed him back by bowling a few well-directed bumpers. That made a bit of a doubt in Stokes' mind regarding the lengths and voila!
40.3 : S Gabriel to Burns, This time Burns walks into the stroke. Normally, batsmen do this to negate the swing. There isn't any but this is just Burns' habit. Every now and then, he will step out. This is pushed towards mid on.
40.4 : S Gabriel to Burns, There comes the response from the fast bowler. I am no military medium guy, so better don't step out! A bumper, a sharp one at that, around leg, Burns is forced to duck. Try walking into that one...
40.5 : S Gabriel to Burns, Comes around the wicket, does Gabriel, dishes it into the ribs, but Burns tucks it towards fine leg for a single.
7th Test Fifty for Rory Burns! It has been a good start for him in this Test. But now is the main part. Make use of this start.
40.6 : S Gabriel to O Pope, Full and around off, pushed towards mid on.
DRINKS BREAK. An hour into the session. Whose has it been? West Indies' for sure. 38 runs, for the wicket of the big Ben Stokes. The consistency in lengths has been lacking but the bowling has been decent. There were a few questions asked regarding the approach of England's batting earlier. You are going to lose pretty much the whole of tomorrow and Day 5. How about playing some strokes and lifting the run rate? Not a fan of that personally. Especially in Tests. Play your natural game, let the s
Burns is batting superbly but he now needs to take extra responsibility. The next man in is Buttler and then, come the all-rounders. And Jos Buttler, is not in the best of form. Hence, a wicket here and it could be a procession. Rory needs to take guard of that. Cornwall to continue. A slip, a short leg and a very straight mid on, in fact a silly mid on, right in the non-striker's face. Jason Holder it is.
41.1 : R Cornwall to Burns, FOUR! Bit of a gift after the break. Short and outside off, easy for feasting and Burns feasts. Rocks back and cuts it through the covers.
41.2 : R Cornwall to Burns, Fuller and straighter, watchfully defended.
41.3 : R Cornwall to Burns, Full and around off, watchfully blocked out.
41.4 : R Cornwall to Burns, Looped up, around off, Rory stretches out to defend.
41.5 : R Cornwall to Burns, Around middle, pushed to the leg side.
41.6 : R Cornwall to Burns, Around middle again, Burns goes back and blocks.
42.1 : S Gabriel to Pope, A length ball, outside off, Pope stays back and defends. The ball rolls to the off side and the batsmen take a single.
42.2 : S Gabriel to Burns, A short ball, outside off, Burns slashes hard but gets a bottom edge. The ball bounces in front of the keeper.
42.3 : S Gabriel to Burns, Down the leg side, left alone.
42.4 : S Gabriel to Burns, Beaten! Excellent from Gabriel. Full and around leg, Burns looks to defend but the ball pitches and then moves away off the seam to beat the outside edge.
42.5 : S Gabriel to Burns, Full and just outside off, well defended.
42.6 : S Gabriel to Burns, On a good length, defended watchfully.
43.1 : R Cornwall to Pope, Back of a length, outside off, watchfully defended.
43.2 : R Cornwall to Pope, FOUR! That is a solid shot. Full and outside off, Pope comes down the track and flicks it through mid-wicket for a boundary.
43.3 : R Cornwall to Pope, Around middle, defended solidly.
43.4 : R Cornwall to Pope, Floated outside off, Ollie comes down the track and pushes it to the leg side for a single.
43.5 : R Cornwall to Burns, Around off, well defended.
43.6 : R Cornwall to Burns, Outside off, punched off the back foot, through point for a couple.
44.1 : S Gabriel to Pope, Full and around middle and off, Pope works it through mid-wicket and gets a couple.
44.2 : S Gabriel to Pope, That is a jaffa. On a length outside off, Pope looks to defend but the ball comes back in a long way and nearly shaves the off stump. Ollie thought he had it covered but the ball exposed the tiniest of gaps between bat and pad.
44.3 : S Gabriel to Pope, Outside off, left alone.
44.4 : S Gabriel to Pope, A bit too straight, flicked away for a single.
44.5 : S Gabriel to Burns, A bouncer now, on middle, Burns ducks under it.
44.6 : S Gabriel to Burns, Outside off, left alone.
45.1 : R Chase to Pope, Full and around off, Pope defends this solidly.
45.2 : R Chase to Pope, Fired in, outside off, Ollie defends watchfully.
45.3 : R Chase to Pope, Around off, OP blocks it out again.
Ohhh... I missed it! Roston Chase is bowling. When nothing seemingly happens, then some things get missed out...
45.4 : R Chase to Pope, Goes right back in his crease and defends.
45.5 : R Chase to Pope, Full and around off, Pope comes down the track and flicks it uppishly, wide of short mid-wicket, for a single.
45.6 : R Chase to Burns, Short and outside off, Rory goes back and cuts it towards point.
Gabriel is smiling. Not sure why. Kemar Roach has the ball in his hand at mid off. Now, he throws it to Gabriel. Must have been some joke.
46.1 : S Gabriel to Pope, A length ball, outside off, solidly defended.
46.2 : S Gabriel to Pope, A short ball, around off, Pope lets it go.
Michael Holding has observed Shannon Gabriel bowling short stuff to Rory Burns. While he approves the idea of the length, he just wants the batsman to be changed. Meaning, he wants Gabriel to bowl more short stuff to Pope and fuller to Burns.
46.3 : S Gabriel to Pope, A short ball, around off, pulled through square leg for a single.
46.4 : S Gabriel to Burns, Around middle and leg, helped through square leg for one more.
46.5 : S Gabriel to Pope, Wild. Ill-directed. Full and miles down the leg side, Pope tries his best to flick. Misses. Shane Dowrich dives to his left to collect.
46.6 : S Gabriel to Pope, Full and around off, driven back to the bowler.
47.1 : R Chase to Burns, Full and outside off, Burns reaches out and drives it towards cover.
47.2 : R Chase to Burns, Around middle, watchfully defended.
47.3 : R Chase to Burns, Rory comes down the track and pushes it towards mid on.
47.4 : R Chase to Burns, OUT! CAUGHT! Sir Andrew Strauss, Chase heard you! And dear Cornwall, what a catch! What a catch! Will come back to that Strauss comment later. First, the ball. Short and outside off, Burns rocks back to cut but is too close to the ball. He gets a thick outside edge as a result and the ball flies thick and fast to first slip. The giant Rahkeem Cornwall there, has barely any time to react but he trusts his instincts. He just thrusts his right hand and the ball sticks! Treme
Into the list of batsmen who have not done too well with the bat in this series. First up, Jos Buttler.
47.5 : R Chase to Buttler, How did that miss the off stump? Full and flighted outside off, Buttler looks to drive but the ball spins in, goes beneath the bat and goes over the off stump!
47.6 : R Chase to Buttler, Around middle, worked towards short mid-wicket.
48.1 : S Gabriel to Pope, Around off, pushed towards point.
48.2 : S Gabriel to Pope, The wobbly seam is troubling Shane Dowrich again. He was all at sea in the second Test and being on the field for a long time did not assist him. A length ball, outside off, Ollie lets it go. The ball wobbles off the seam and then moves in a long way. Dowrich struggles to collect and fumbles, conceding a bye.
48.3 : S Gabriel to Buttler, A bouncer now, Buttler ducks.
48.4 : S Gabriel to Buttler, Another bouncer, the result is the same.
48.5 : S Gabriel to Buttler, A length ball, outside off, Jos looks to defend but the ball cuts back in, rises steeply, makes Buttler hop, takes the inside edge and hits him on the pads.
48.6 : S Gabriel to Buttler, Around off, defended watchfully this time.
Jason Holder is back on. 10-3-22-0 so far. This time, things happened slowly enough for me to catch the change in bowling. Cheap happiness stuff...
49.1 : J Holder to Pope, Full and around off, Pope defends it watchfully.
49.2 : J Holder to Pope, On a length outside off, Ollie is solid in defense again.
49.3 : J Holder to Pope, Full and outside off, Pope pushes this through the covers and gets a couple.
49.4 : J Holder to Pope, Full and down the leg side, Ollie misses his flick.
49.5 : J Holder to Pope, A length ball, around off, OP defends it watchfully.
49.6 : J Holder to Pope, A length ball, outside off, Pope gets across and shoulders arms.
50.1 : S Gabriel to Buttler, Na na... not what Holder or Gabriel had in mind. He needed the new man on strike. He looks back at the pitch, as if to indicate something to do with his landing. Full and fast yes, but straying down the leg side. Buttler tickles it towards fine leg for a single.
50.2 : S Gabriel to Pope, Outside off, pushed towards point.
50.3 : S Gabriel to Pope, Poor shot and poor keeping again. Seems like a loss in confidence for Dowrich. Full and wide outside off, Pope looks at that and cannot resist himself. Throws the kitchen sink at it, looking to drive but misses. Shane Dowrich looks to collect to his right, but struggles against the wobbly seam. Fumbles.
50.4 : S Gabriel to Pope, Back of a length, outside off, Ollie hops and defends.
50.5 : S Gabriel to Pope, Outside off, pushed through the covers for a single.
50.6 : S Gabriel to Buttler, Landed outside off, on a length, Jos shoulders arms.
51.1 : J Holder to Pope, WOULD POPE HAVE BEEN A GONER? Dear me, he would have been! On middle, Ollie pushes it towards mid on and sets off for a single. It is Roston Chase at short mid-wicket who ambles towards the ball, stoops to pick the ball up and at that time, Pope is gone for all money. Because he is just halfway down the track. But, just when he is about to flick the ball with his left hand, he fumbles the ball and it pops out. What a relief for Ollie Pope.
51.2 : J Holder to Buttler, Around off, solidly defended.
51.3 : J Holder to Buttler, Fuller this time, well defended.
51.4 : J Holder to Buttler, Outside off, left alone.
51.5 : J Holder to Buttler, Fuller in length, outside off, watchfully defended.
51.6 : J Holder to Buttler, Wider outside off, let through again.
Last over? Yep. Last one before Tea. Kemar Roach is the bowler. 11.4-1-26-2 so far.
52.1 : K Roach to Pope, Around off, tucked through mid-wicket for a single.
52.2 : K Roach to Buttler, Umm... leaving? Playing? Perhaps caught in two minds. On a length outside off, Buttler looks to defend initially but then thinks to let the ball go. Is late and the bat is left hanging in the air. Luckily for him, the ball hits the good spot of the willow and goes on the bounce to the slip cordon.
52.3 : K Roach to Buttler, Around off, watchfully defended.
52.4 : K Roach to Buttler, Fuller in length, around off, flicked towards deep mid-wicket for a single.
52.5 : K Roach to Pope, Outside off, kept out watchfully to the off side. A quick single taken.
52.6 : K Roach to Buttler, Wide outside off, just holds its line, doesn't swing back in, good from Buttler as he doesn't chase that. Leaves it through. TEA ON DAY 1!
65/2 in 26 overs in this session. Jason Holder will be thrilled with the control his bowlers have showed in this passage. They had a control over the run rate and hence, did not let England run away in what is normally termed as a session for the batsmen.
The post-Lunch session started with West Indies coming out firing on all cylinders. Stokes was hit on the helmet and then a couple of balls later, was dismissed. Then, Pope got one on the helmet and hence, the batsmen were finding it uncomfortable. Rory Burns looked good and set, but could not carry on, thanks to a blinder from Rahkeem Cornwall at slip.
So if you look at the overall run rate, it is under 2.5. West Indies are into England's soft underbelly of a middle order and will look to make inroads. How will Jos Buttler play? In a free-flowing manner? Can someone remind him of his knock against India a couple of summers ago? The game resumes at 4 pm local (1500 GMT).
... Day 1, Evening Session ...
We are back for the final session of Day 1. The West Indies' players are out in the middle. Ollie Pope and Jos Buttler will resume their innings for England. Jason Holder will start the proceedings for the final session of Day 1.
53.1 : J Holder to Pope, False start to the new session from Holder. He starts the final session with a delivery down the leg side. Pope looks to flick but it is too far away.
53.2 : J Holder to Pope, Holder finds his line and bowls it on a length on off, Pope defends it off the front foot.
53.3 : J Holder to Pope, Holder hits the deck hard on off, Pope gets on his back foot and dabs the ball down the ground.

53.5 : J Holder to Pope, Full on off, Pope taps it back to Holder.
53.6 : J Holder to Pope, Maiden to begin the new session. Good length ball on off, Ollie defends it to get through the over.
Kemar Roach to bowl from the other end.
It will be interesting to see how does Holder rotate his bowlers. 26 overs to go to the second new ball. So a quick burst here, around 5-10 overs and then a spin barrage till the second new cherry. They will not want to delay the second new ball here.

58.2 : K Roach to Pope, Oh poor Dowrich, he is struggling behind the stumps. Good length ball outside off, Pope leaves it alone. Dowrich behind the stumps misreads it and the ball goes towards third man after hitting his finger and allows the batters to get three byes.
58.3 : K Roach to Buttler, Outside off, Buttler leaves it alone and Dowrich manages to pouch it this time.
58.4 : K Roach to Buttler, Length ball outside off, JB shoulders arms to it.
58.5 : K Roach to Buttler, Away from the stumps, Buttler has nothing to do with it.
58.6 : K Roach to Buttler, Another one away from the stumps, Buttler leaves it alone.

59.2 : S Gabriel to Pope, Good length delivery on off, Pope blocks it off the back foot.
59.3 : Gabriel to O Pope, IN THE AIR...DROPPED! Excellent effort from Chase but he cannot take it. Harsh to call it a drop because he was always up against it and it was a terrific effort from him. Gabriel hits the deck hard and bowls it around the body of Pope. The ball comes in just around his belly. He looks to turn it on the leg side but gets a leading edge which goes high in the air behind mid-wicket. Chase runs behind from short mid-wicket and gives the catch a chase. He dives and gets his

61.2 : Gabriel to Pope, NOT OUT! Umpire's call on the bal hitting the stumps. Pope survives and West Indies also do not lose their review. Good length ball pitching around off and coming back n. Pope looks to defend but misses. The ball hits him over the knee roll.

The umpires get together and decide the light is not good enough to continue so they are going off. The light meter is out now and this reading will be the mark from here on and that will be it for the day. Pope and Buttler walk off to an ovation from their teammates. West Indies players slowly coming off the pitch. As the lights have gone bad after the scheduled time of 1800 local, i.e, end of the scheduled time of play it is STUMPS on Day 1!
A very good day of Test cricket. After winning the toss and opting to bowl, West Indies started off well getting rid of last Test's centurion in the very first over. Burns though played well for his 57 but the Windies kept on chipping wickets. They had the upper hand in the first two sessions and had England at 122/4. But the pair who so far had struggled with the bat decided to find form at the right time for its side. The duo of Pope and Buttler steadied the ship and ensured that there was no
It started so brightly for the West Indies. Yes Gabriel's fitness was a concern after the opening half an hour but he recovered and the visitors were in command for the first two sessions. However, Pope and Buttler showed resilience and the disciplined bowling of Holder and his men could not beat the patience of the English pair. Roach and Chase were the two bowlers with the wickets with 2 and 1 each with the latter also contributing with a run out. Gabriel bowled his heart out but to no reward.
So that is it from Day 1 of this third and final Test between England and West Indies. The hosts look good and strong but West Indies will look to bounce back and have a fruitful morning on Day 2. The home side will once again look to get past 400 but the tourists know that this is the last recognized batting pair and will look to have an early breakthrough. The weather forecast for Day 2 is not too promising but let's hope we have some action. Join us on Saturday, 25th July for Day 2 of the dec
... Day 2, Session 1 ...
Hello and welcome to Day 2 of the third and final Test between England and West Indies. After enjoying much of Day 1, West Indies could not end the day on a high and are now on the back foot. England, on the other hand, are in a strong position with Buttler and Pope in the middle of a 136-run stand. The hosts would hope that the pair can carry on its good work and take the total in excess of 400.
The tourists are not too far behind in this game as they know this is the last recognized batting pair. Hence, they would look to end the partnership early on and restrict England under 350. The weather forecast is not the one we cricket fans will be happy about but lets hope we get a full action-packed day. Who will stamp their authority in this game?
WEATHER - Is the glass half full or half empty? Depends on how you look at it. The weather report for today is not that promising but it is much better than what we had read yesterday, about today. There were almost 0 percent chances of play but now, that has risen by 50 percent! The pitch is under covers, there is a likelihood of losing out on overs but at least, we will get some play! And as we speak, the sun has come out in Manchester.
A stat heads-up - Ben Stokes scored a ton at number 5 in the last match. If Ollie Pope scores one today, this will be the 15th Test ton by an ENG batsman at number 5 in England since 2011, most having come at number 5!
We are all set to begin Day 2. The West Indies players are out in the middle. Ollie Pope and Jos Buttler will resume their innings for England. Shannon Gabriel will start the proceedings for Day 2.
85.5 : S Gabriel to Buttler, Good start! Gabriel starts the day with a length delivery just outside off, Buttler offers a good leave as the ball was not far away from the off pole.
85.6 : S Gabriel to Buttler, Length ball outside off, this one keeps shaping away from Jos. He leaves it alone.
Kemar Roach to bowl the first full over of the day.
86.1 : K Roach to Pope, Full ball on off, Pope blocks it.
0.0 : The reason we are saying that is because he completed Shannon Gabriel's over on Day 1. Adding further, Roach looked the best of all West Indian bowlers on Friday but was without luck for most of the day. Of course, the way he set up Sibley and Stokes was remarkable.
86.2 : K Roach to Pope, Length ball outside off, Ollie leaves it alone.
86.3 : K Roach to Pope, Full ball outside off, Roach wants Pope to drive and he obliges and the ball just abut misses the edge of Pope's bat.

S Gabriel to Pope, EDGED AND DROPPED! Rakheem Cornwall is the culprit there. Generally a great slip fielder but he has dropped an easy one here. Excellent line and length from Gabriel. He bowls it around off, in the channel of uncertainity. Pope looks to defend it but the ball takes the outside edge and goes to the left of first slip. Cornwell there moves to that side, gets his hands on it but fails to hold onto it. He goes down trying to take the rebound but to no avail. Life for Pope but

89.1 : S Gabriel to Pope, OUT! BOWLED! Pope gets out on nervous 90s and he cannot make use of the life he got. Just the start West Indies would hav wanted. Cornwall will be a relived man as he put him down in the last ball of Gabriel's last over but this time Shannon has decided he won't take the help of anyone else and do the job al by himself. Another peach of a delivery from Shannon. He bowls it on a length on off and makes the ball jag back in. Pope looks to defend but this ball is just too g

91.4 : S Gabriel to Buttler, NO BALL! Gabriel oversteps! On a good length on off, Buttler blocks it off the front foot.
S Gabriel to Buttler, OUT! Caught! Buttler departs as well and England once again are in trouble. The tourists have been brilliant with the ball this morning and they have their 3rd wicket of the day. Another ball which is in the channel where batsmen hate the most, in and around the off pole. It is on a length and shapes away a bit. Buttler looks to defend but gets a thick outside edge which goes low to second slip. Skipper, Jason Holder there takes a good, sharp catch. The Windies are pu

He has changed the dynamics of the session and the innings with his blistering 62 off just 45 balls, which has once again put England in the ascendancy. He though will be disappointed with his dismissal. A low ful toss on off from Chase. It was there to be put away, Broad gets down on one knee and finds the man at deep mid-wicket to perfection. Blackwood there makes no mistake.

111.5 : J Holder to J Anderson, OUT! CAUGHT! The innings and session ends. We do not have to wait for too long to have lunch. A length ball, around off, Anderson looks to drive but without moving his feet. The result is more of a slash and hence, an outside edge is induced. Straight into the hands of Rahkeem Cornwall at first slip. No mistake this time. ENGLAND HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 369!
A blistering 62 from Stuart Broad has turned the tide in favour of England. When 300 looked tough, his knock has taken them past 350. The hosts would be reasonably happy with this total, given the reactions in their dressing room. It was a torrid opening hour but this second half has given them something to smile.
After being put into bat, England got off to a poor start losing Sibley early. They kept losing wickets regularly but Burns' fifty gave them some solidarity. After his dismissal, the hosts were reeling at 122/4 and it looked like they would struggle to get to 250. Add to the fact that Jos Buttler was in poor form and they had picked an extra bowler.
Buttler and Pope though found their groove and the pair added a 140-run stand. But the start of Day 2 saw Pope miss out on his century by 9 runs and wickets started to crumble from there on. The hosts slipped from 262/4 to 280/8 before Broad came to the party.
They say if you bowl first and do not concede in excess of 400, you would be happy. But West Indies will be disappointed with their bowling effort. They were on top in the first 2 sessions of Day 1 but then let it slip away. They were then again in a strong position in the first hour of Day 2 but once again they let it loose and it backfired.
They had England stuttering at 122/4 initially but then let that slip and when they had a chance to restrict the hosts under 300 they failed to do that as well. Kemar Roach was the pick of the bowlers and ended with a 4-fer. Gabriel and Chase had 2 wickets each while Holder finished with one. The extra spinner, Cornwall, who was picked for this game went wicketless. All-in-all Holder and his men will not be too pleased with their efforts, considering where they were at one stage.
So that was the last bit of action from the first session. It will be England who will enjoy Lunch more. It was a session of two halves with the first half belonging to the side from the Caribbean while the second belonged to Broad and England. Join us for the second session and West Indies' reply.
... Day 2, Session 2 ...
We are back for the second session. The England players are out in the middle. Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell will open the batting for West Indies. James Anderson will start the proceedings for the second session of Day 2.
0.1 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Jimmy starts with a good length delivery outside off, Brathwaite lets it alone.

0.5 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Away from the off pole and Brathwaite has no problem leaving this alone.
Strong words from Michael Holding on air. 'You don't need saliva to swing the new ball. Just use your action. Anderson has got a beautiful bowling action.'
0.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, West Indies and Brathwaite are off the mark. On the pads, Kraigg glances it behind square on the leg side and keeps the strike with a single.
Stuart Broad to bowl from the other end. He scored a half century with the bat, so he will be itching to make this new ball talk and use that momentum. Normally, if a bowler does decently with the bat, it just brings about a massive result in his bowling too.
1.1 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Broad starts wit a very good delivery. It is n off and comes back in Brathawaite looks to defend but misses and gets hit high on the pad. There is a stifled appeal but the umpire turns it down.
1.2 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Broad goes away from the stumps, Brathwaite shoulders arms to it.
1.3 : S Broad to Brathwaite, On off, Brathwaite blocks it.
1.4 : S Broad to K Brathwaite, OUT! Caught! Broad strikes in his first over and West Indies have lost their first wicket. This is the reason you give the new ball to Broad because he makes things happen. Good length delivery on off, it shapes away just a bit. Brathwaite looks to defend to protect the off pole but the ball takes an outside edge and goes straight to first slip. The England skipper standing at first slip makes no mistake and takes a good catch.
Shai Hope walks out at number 3!
1.5 : S Broad to Hope, Appeal but turned down by the umpire. Length ball pitching on off and angling in. Hope looks to defend but misses and gets hit high on the pads. Broad and his teammates go up in appeal but the umpire turns it down.
1.6 : S Broad to Hope, Good length ball on off, Hope defends it to get through the over. Wicket maiden from Broad to begin with.
While aiming to swing the ball, it is very important to have the correct wrist position. If you have pace, it helps but even if you don't, wrist position gives you great success. The seam should be upright, pointing towards the position. The masters of swing, like Jimmy, Bhuvneshwar, Starc, etc... do it perfectly. Broad is not a swing bowler, hence, he was not given the new ball in the middle stages of his career. Also, he just used to come and bang the ball on the deck, which is a total waste o

3.6 : S Broad to Campbell, Full and around off, watchfully tapped towards covers for a single.

4.6 : J Anderson to Campbell, EDGED AND DROPPED! It is Ben Stokes out of all the people who has dropped it. Shows he is human after all. He will be gutted to have dropped this one. It is an easy one and he knows it as well. Good length ball around off and it moves away a tad. Campbell looks to defend but gets a thick outside edge to the right of second slip. Ben Stokes there moves to his right but the ball goes in and comes out of his hand. He is shattered as we all know he sets a very high bench

Heartening to hear the conversation between Ebony Rainford Brent and Michael Holding on air. For the record, Holding finished his Test career with 249 Test wickets. On being asked by Ebony as to how does he feel on not being able to touch 250, Mikey says that he does not feel anything, as 250 is just a number. He further adds that plenty of people ask him whether he could have played more games to get to 250 but he curtly says ,'No, thank you!' Ebony tries to convince him that it could have perh

Time for a drink. When the conditions are helpful, England bowlers are more than a handful. Broad and Anderson have done exactly what their captain would have asked them of and would have got more wickets - had Ben Stokes not dropped Campbell. Yes, it is just one drop but it could have had a change in proceedings. Campbell has been the aggressor, as can be viewed from his knock thus far - 28 out of the team's 36!

Stupendous bowling from the West Indian playing for England to a West Indian playing for West Indies. Short delivery on middle and off, Campbell looks to hop and defend. But the ball keeps on rising and all he can do is try and get his gloves out of the way. But he can't. The ball goes to gully where Rory Burns completes the formalities. 24.6 : C Woakes to Chase, Full delivery on off, Roston drives it to mid off. THAT WILL BE TEA ON DAY 2!
Hmmm... a sluggish session. Just 25 overs bowled in around 2 hours, which does not actually say too much about the over rate. England have got 3 wickets, one apiece to Broad, Anderson and Archer. West Indies have gone nowhere, save aside for a flurry of runs from John Campbell.
England did reasonably well to make the new ball talk and should have got more wickets, but luck and their own fielders deserted them. They have mixed a good quantity of full and short stuff, keeping the batsmen guessing. West Indies tried to play normal cricket, with Campbell attacking and Hope defending, but losing both in the span of 30 minutes has hurt them.
310 is the trail for West Indies at the moment but look at the overs remaining for this day. 39 overs pending. If light holds good, we might still fall short by 10 overs, unless Joe Root and Dom Bess bowl in tandem to improve the over rate. This is the strong aspect of West Indian batting - its middle order. Can the tourists ensure that they not more than 4 down before close? The deficit can be ignored for now. Join us back at 4 pm local (1500 GMT).
... Day 2, Session 3 ...
We are back for the final session of Day 2. The England players are out in the middle. Roston Chase and Shamarh Brooks will resume their batting for West Indies. James Anderson will start the proceedings for the final session of Day 2.
25.1 : J Anderson to Brooks, On a good length and outside off, Brooks shoulders arms to this one.
25.2 : J Anderson to Brooks, Good length delivery outside off, Brooks offers no shot to this one.
25.3 : Anderson to Brooks, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Oh, the master, the master, Jimmy is the master! You feel it will come this way but it goes the other way. You feel it will go the other way but it says knock knock, hello! Sensational from Jimmy. He sets Brooks up with a couple of outswingers and then gets this one to swing In. Shamarh is caught off guard, as he fails to pick the shine on the ball. Plays for the outswinger but has to adjust late for the inswinger. Too late. Inside edge is taken and
Jermaine Blackwood is the next batsman in.
25.4 : J Anderson to Blackwood, On a good length on middle, Blackwood looks to defend but gets hit on the thigh pad.
25.5 : J Anderson to Blackwood, Length delivery on off, Blackwood plays it to point.
25.6 : J Anderson to Blackwood, Outside off, pushed straight to point.
Here is Broad. Just as everyone thought, starting this session with Jimmy.
26.1 : S Broad to Chase, On a good length on off, Chase defends it off the back foot.
26.2 : S Broad to Chase, Good length delivery outside off, Roston offers no shot to this one.
26.3 : S Broad to Chase, BEATEN! On a good length and outside off, Chase looks to defend but misses it.

26.5 : S Broad to Chase, Good length delivery on off, Roston defends it off the back foot.
26.6 : S Broad to Chase, Outside off, Chase shoulders arms to this one.
27.1 : J Anderson to Blackwood, On a good length on off, Blackwood defends it off the back foot.
27.2 : J Anderson to Blackwood, Full delivery on middle, Blackwood flicks it through mid-wicket. The batsmen get two runs.
27.3 : Anderson to Blackwood, Nervy moment for Blackwood! He was adjudged LBW by umpire Gough but he chose to review. And he is successful! Jimmy bowls another pearler. On a good length on middle, Blackwood looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. The bowler appeals for LBW and the umpire raises his finger. Blackwood, without much of a chat with Chase, goes for the review. That is his confidence. And lo! Ball Tracker shows it to be missing leg stump! Excellent bowling from Jimmy. But it
27.4 : J Anderson to Blackwood, On a good length on middle, Blackwood looks to flick but gets hit on the thigh pad.
27.5 : J Anderson to Blackwood, Good length delivery on off, Jermaine keeps it out.

28.3 : S Broad to Chase, On a length on off, Chase guides it towards third man for a single.
28.4 : S Broad to Blackwood, Good length delivery on off, Blackwood blocks it off the back foot.
28.5 : S Broad to Blackwood, On a length on off, Blackwood punches it towards the off side.
28.6 : S Broad to Blackwood, Good length delivery on off, Jermaine blocks it off the front foot.
29.1 : J Anderson to Chase, On a good length and outside off, Chase offers no shot to this one.
29.2 : J Anderson to Chase, Length delivery on off, Chase plays it to point.
29.3 : J Anderson to Chase, Good length delivery outside off, Chase shoulders arms to this one.
29.4 : J Anderson to Chase, Outside off, Roston lets it go.
29.5 : J Anderson to Chase, On a length on middle, Chase flicks it towards the leg side.
29.6 : J Anderson to Chase, Good length delivery on off, Chase blocks it off the back foot.
30.1 : S Broad to Blackwood, Full and outside off, solidly defended.
30.2 : S Broad to Blackwood, Hello? What was that? Poor shot from Blackwood, though that is how he plays, one will argue. Full and outside off, Jermaine throws his bat at it, pretty recklessly and misses. That was an invitation for Jos Buttler to take another catch.
30.3 : S Broad to Blackwood, Full and outside off, driven straight back but stopped by Broad.
30.4 : S Broad to Blackwood, The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
30.5 : S Broad to Blackwood, Full and around middle, flicked straight to short mid-wicket.
30.6 : S Broad to Blackwood, On a good length around off, defended from the crease.
31.1 : J Anderson to Chase, A length ball, down the leg side, Chase misses his flick and the ball goes off his pads to the leg side. A leg bye taken.
31.2 : J Anderson to Blackwood, Full and outside off, swinging away, driven towards mid off.
31.3 : J Anderson to Blackwood, On middle and leg, helped through mid-wicket for a single.
31.4 : J Anderson to R Chase, A short ball, around middle, Chase looks to pull but his bottom hand comes off the bat. He miscues it to long leg for a single.
31.5 : J Anderson to Blackwood, On a good length around off, blocked back to Jimmy.
31.6 : J Anderson to Blackwood, Back of a length outside off, JB looks to punch it through the off side but his one hand comes off the bat. As a result, there is a thick inside edge induced, onto his pads. There was some extra bounce involved.
Many young players these days cover their stumps. Just as we saw Ollie Pope yesterday. But not Blackwood. He exposes all his three stumps and for batsmen like these, it is pretty difficult to get them out LBW. Jermaine already has one overturned but just goes to show, small changes in things, like stance, technique, etc... can make a lot of difference.
32.1 : S Broad to Chase, Full and outside off, Chase leans and pushes this through the covers for a couple.
32.2 : S Broad to Chase, Outside off, on a length, curving away, Roston just offers a dead bat in defense, guiding the ball with an open bat-face towards gully.
32.3 : S Broad to Chase, Outside off, harmless ball, RC shoulders arms.
32.4 : S Broad to Chase, Full and just outside off, stays low a touch, Chase somehow gets his bat down to block.
32.5 : S Broad to Chase, Outside off, left alone.
32.6 : S Broad to Chase, Another one stays low. Full and outside off, Roston looks to defend but the ball shoots beneath his bat, just past the off stump.
Jofra Archer is back on. 6-1-16-1 so far.
33.1 : J Archer to Blackwood, Outside off, punched through cover-point for a single.
0.0 : More on the Blackwood LBW which was turned down. Michael Holding was pretty much happy with the decision reversal. He feels that to the naked eye, his naked eye that is, the ball seemed to be going down leg. Now, if it had been clipping the leg stump, in this case, it would have been out. But what if Michael Gough had not given it out? Then it would have been not out. So the point of Holding here, is that umpire's call should be removed. If it is hitting the stumps, it is out, else, it is not. F
33.2 : J Archer to R Chase, EDGED, SHORT! Playing with soft hands is the key. Full and outside off, Chase commits into the defense but not completely. It is a mere push, more of a dead-bat, so that even if it is an outside edge, it won't carry behind. And it doesn't. Ben Stokes at second slip cannot quite get his hands to stop the ball and it goes past him. Two runs taken.
33.3 : J Archer to Chase, Good running. Chase works this through mid-wicket. Broad gets there from long leg, beating Bess from mid-wicket. He looks to slide but slips instead. Stumbles but manages to stop the ball. Three runs taken.
33.4 : J Archer to Blackwood, A length ball, nearing the rib cage, Blackwood looks to fend it off but misses and is hit on the body. He is pretty uncomfortable with that length and there is Ollie Pope waiting, at leg gully.
33.5 : J Archer to Blackwood, The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
33.6 : J Archer to Blackwood, A short ball now, Jermaine stands tall to defend.
34.1 : S Broad to Chase, Full and outside off, Chase lunges and pushes it towards cover.
34.2 : S Broad to Chase, OUT! LBW! More success for Stuart Broad. Huge smile on his face. Chase departs and the West Indies are 5 down. That looked as plumb as it could get. The nip-backer, as it is always called when Stewy bowls. On a length, outside off, Chase looks to stay back and defend. But the ball nips back in and stays low a touch as well. This is just Day 2, so cannot really blame Chase for playing back. Hits Chase on the knee roll as he misses his defense and there is an appeal. Not fr
Jason Holder walks in next, with his side in awful lot of trouble.
34.3 : S Broad to Holder, FOUR BYES! Tough luck for Jos Buttler. On a length, outside off, Holder lets it go. But the ball comes back in a long way and seams past the off stump. Buttler dives to his left but cannot stop it. The ball races to the fine leg fence.
34.4 : S Broad to Holder, Full and outside off, watchfully defended.
34.5 : S Broad to Holder, Outside off, pushed through the covers for a single.
34.6 : S Broad to Blackwood, On a length, outside off, watchfully defended.
35.1 : J Archer to J Holder, Leaving? Playing? Indecision. On a length outside off, Holder looks to defend initially but then decides to take his bat off. Is late and the ball goes off the bottom edge, on the bounce, to gully.
35.2 : J Archer to Holder, And again! Jason needs to decide a bit quicker if he wants to leave the ball. Full and outside off, stays low, JH looks to defend, then tries to bail out, only to get a bottom edge on the bounce to the keeper.
35.3 : J Archer to Holder, FOUR LEG BYES. Taking evasive action there. A short ball, around middle, the skipper looks to duck but the ball hits his chest and goes to the fine leg fence.
35.4 : J Archer to Holder, Back of a length, around off, watchfully blocked out.
35.5 : J Archer to Holder, FOUR! Nice timing. Full and around middle, Holder whips it through mid-wicket and finds the fence.
35.6 : J Archer to Holder, Outside off, pushed towards cover.
Chris Woakes is back and we have a Direct hit! England don't look that confident. Referred upstairs. Ahh... the big J is in by a mile.
36.1 : C Woakes to Blackwood, NOT OUT PLUS 5 RUNS! Full and outside off, Holder pushes it towards mid-wicket and sets off for a single. Dom Sibley gets across to his left, picks the ball up, turns and has a shy at the bowler's end. The ball hits the stumps and then deflects past the man backing up at mid off to the long off fence. Ben Stokes from second slip believes it is gone but replays show otherwise. Holder is comfortably in.
36.2 : C Woakes to Holder, Around off, blocked from the crease.
36.3 : C Woakes to Holder, Full and outside off, driven straight to mid off.
Review for LBW here! Does Woakes have his man? Nope. Too high!
36.4 : Woakes to Holder, NOT OUT. Missing the stumps! England lose a review. Hard to be an umpire on this deck. A few overs back, balls were staying low. This is bowled from Chris Woakes a bit wide from the stumps and it comes back in to ping Holder in front of the stumps. The umpire agrees to the LBW shout but Jason takes the review and Ball Tracker saves him, indicating it to be bouncing over. Can you really blame the umpire here? After what happened to Roston Chase?
36.5 : C Woakes to Holder, Outside off, left alone.
36.6 : C Woakes to Holder, Action replay of the last ball.
37.1 : J Archer to Blackwood, On a good length on middle, Blackwood looks to flick but gets hit on the thigh pad.

37.5 : J Archer to Blackwood, On a length on off, Jermaine taps it towards the off side.
37.6 : J Archer to Blackwood, FOUR! Nice shot! Full delivery on middle, Blackwood drives it through mid on for a boundary.

On a good length on middle, the ball nips back in. Blackwood looks to defend but the ball goes through between bat and pad and crashes into the stumps. West Indies are 6 down now and England into the West Indies lower order now, with just Dowrich the only genuine batsman remaining.
Shane Dowrich is the new batsman in. Remember, he bagged a pair in the last Test match. He will surely be nervous out in the middle.
42.4 : C Woakes to S Dowrich, FOUR! Nope, no signs of nerves from Dowrich! What a shot to get off the mark! Full delivery on off, Dowrich just creams it through covers for a boundary.
42.5 : C Woakes to Dowrich, On a length on off, Dowrich plays it to point.

0.0 : The two umpires get together again and they are worried regarding the fading light. They have decided to go off for bad light. The covers are also coming on. So that suggests that will be it for the day.
The umpires have come together and decided that the natural lights are not good enough for play to continue. The covers have also come on and that signals STUMPS ON DAY 2! It has been an excellent day for England. West Indies will have a lot to ponder over as they go back to the dressing room.
Right! So where were we? England on top at the end of Day 1. Where are we? England on top at the end of Day 2. First, with the bat. Then, with the ball. West Indies are in all sorts of disarray.
How did this all happen? The tourists began the day really well, getting 4 English wickets for just 18 runs, before Stuart Broad came in their way. Somehow, that 9th wicket partnership between Broad and Bess put West Indies off their track. From 280/8, the hosts managed to reach 369.
Bowlers generally do well when they have had a lovely time with the bat. The Stuart Broad England loves, is back. The flashing of the blade, the pulling, the cutting, the driving - what not? And then he struck immediately with the ball too.
The other English bowlers took inspiration from Broad. Especially Anderson, who came out all guns blazing. The tourists just could not find any breathing space and twice in two games, they are waiting with bated breath to see if some saviour bails them out of follow-on embarrassment.
Okay then! We weren't supposed to stay up so late, were we? But for a change, the forecast in England proved to be false! We nearly had a full day's play with England probably just another full day's play away from winning this match and series. Join us on Sunday, 26th July, 2020 at 11 am local (1000 GMT) for all the action from Day 3. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
... DAY 3 ...
Another day in this Test match with West Indies having their backs to the wall. After the first game, such situations have occurred regularly in these two Tests. And now, having entered a Test with rain forecast for a major portion, the tourists find themselves questioning the heavens. Hello and a warm welcome to the third day of this third Test between England and West Indies in Manchester.
So - why do we say will the Windies question the heavens? Because as per the forecast, there shouldn't have been much play yesterday. But we nearly had a full day's play! The forecast is for lesser showers today but if the forecast for 90 percent rain on Saturday did not prove right, what are the chances that the forecast for today will?
To be honest, West Indies cannot depend on the weather. They are so far behind in this game, that just one full day's play can finish this match off. First, they need to score those 33 runs to avoid the follow-on and if they do, try and delay the inevitable by bowling tightly. But eventually, when they do get to bat, they have to play out of their skins, which is extremely difficult in the final innings.
All eyes would be on Jason Holder this morning. If his team can manage to bat this whole session, that deficit could come down to around 150. Still huge, but England would have to bat that much while longer to set a target of 400 or more.
WEATHER - A look at the heavens will bring smiles on all the faces of cricket fans. Dry in Manchester, no rain as of now.
We are all set for the action to begin on Day 3! The England players are out in the huddle before they take their respective positions in the field. Overnight batsmen, Shane Dowrich and Jason Holder are out in the middle to resume their innings. Jofra Archer has the ball in hand as he will finish off his remaining over from Day 2.
47.2 : J Archer to Dowrich, Jofra starts the day with a yorker. Not the pacey one, Archer is warming up but still dishes out a yorker. Dowrich manages to block it.
47.3 : J Archer to Dowrich, Good length ball on off, Dowrich defends it with his outer half of his bat towards gully.
47.4 : J Archer to Dowrich, First runs of the day! Dowrich gets the scoring for Day 3 underway with a good looking shot. Good length ball outside off, Dowrich gets on his front foot and drives it through covers. The ball does not have the legs to reach the fence so the fielder cleans it up. Three taken.
47.5 : J Archer to Holder, Length ball on off, Holder defends it by getting right behind it.
47.6 : J Archer to Holder, Good length ball around off, Holder blocks it to get through the over.

49.2 : J Archer to Holder, Good length ball on middle and off, Holder defends it.
49.3 : J Archer to J Holder, FOUR! Lovely shot! First boundary off the day. Archer overpitches it slightly around off, the class of Holder is such that he will pounce on such small mistakes. He gets on his front foot and drives it past the diving mid off fielder for a boundary.
49.4 : J Archer to Holder, Bouncer! It is around the body, Holder sits under it.
49.5 : J Archer to Holder, FOUR RUNNING RUNS! Very hardly you see this especially without an overthrow. Length ball outside off, Holder punches it past backward point. Sibley gives it a chase and pulls it back before the ropes. His momentum takes him well past the ropes though he manages to stop the ball before it. Dowrich and Holder make the most of it and run four.
49.6 : J Archer to Holder, Length ball on off, Holder blocks it to get through the over.
50.1 : C Woakes to Dowrich, On a good length on off, Dowrich keeps it out.

50.6 : C Woakes to Dowrich, FOUR! Dowrich is looking very good this morning and this is an excellent shot. Back of a length on off, Dowrich gets on his back foot and pulls it with authority through mid-wicket for a boundary.
Run Out appeal taken upstairs. Looks safe to the naked eye. Yep. Here come the replays. The giant strides have got him well inside.
51.1 : J Archer to Holder, Not Out! The giant strides of Holder sees him make it back in with ease. On the pads, Holder flicks it wide of backward square leg and looks for two. He calls for the second, the throw at the keeper's end is a good one. Buttlr takes the ball in front of the stumps and dislodgs it. He appeals and the umpire takes it upstairs. Replay rolls in and shows Holder is in safely.
51.2 : J Archer to Holder, On the pads, Holder flicks it to the on side and gets a single.

53.4 : J Archer to Dowrich, Short ball on middle, Dowrich flicks it to deep square leg and gets a couple. Brings up the 50-run stand between the pair. A very important one as at one stage it looked like the tourists would struggle to avoid the follow-on but this pair has ensured England will have to bat.
53.5 : J Archer to Dowrich, The batsman does well to stand tall and play that short delivery.
53.6 : J Archer to Dowrich, Archer bowls it down the leg side, Dowrich lets it go.
54.1 : C Woakes to J Holder, Full on middle, Holder flicks it through mid on but Stuart Broad dives to his right and makes a desperate stop. A single taken.
0.0 : Is that a boundary? Not quite. Good stop by Rory Burns who is smiling now, after that effort has been rewarded.
54.2 : C Woakes to S Dowrich, On a length on off, Dowrich guides it past gully towards third man. Burns chases it and does well to stop it. The batsmen get three runs.
54.3 : C Woakes to Holder, Good length delivery on off, Holder defends it off the back foot.
Holder is gone! But is that a no ball? There is some doubt there. Cannot say that there is something of Woakes' foot behind the line... IT IS A NO BALL! What a reprieve for Holder.
54.4 : C Woakes to Holder, CAUGHT OFF A NO BALL! Big moment in this Test. Woakes has overstepped his line by just and Holder gets a lifeline. Woakes bowls a length ball around the body, Holder looks to flick but it does not come off the middle and ends up hitting it upishly to the right of short mid-wicket. Ollie Pope there dives to his right and takes a very good catch. Holder stays to see whether Woakes has overstepped his line or not. Replay rolls and it finds Chris Woakes guilty. Big let off
C Woakes to Holder, Full and around off, pushed towards cover.
54.5 : C Woakes to Holder, Outside off, pushed towards cover.
54.6 : C Woakes to Holder, Outside off, a play and a miss.
Jimmy Anderson is back. Bowling from the end which has been named after him. Got the impression that perhaps Joe Root was saving him for the new ball, if the follow-on could have been enforced. 11-4-17-2 so far.
55.1 : J Anderson to Dowrich, On a good length on off, Dowrich keeps it out.

56.5 : C Woakes to Holder, On the pads, Holder glances it towards backward square leg and gets a couple.
56.6 : C Woakes to Holder, Length ball on off, Jason defends it to get through the over.
57.1 : J Anderson to Dowrich, On a length on middle, Dowrich flicks it towards square leg for a run.
57.2 : J Anderson to Holder, Appeal for LBW but the umpire is not interested. Height seemed to be an issue and also looked to be going down leg. Good length ball pitching around off and angling in. Holder looks to defend but misses ad gets hit high on the pad. Anderson and co. go up in appeal but the umpire shakes it away. Stokes at slips is certain this one is not worth using a review for and Root agrees with his deputy. Ball Tracker comes on later on and shows it was indeed missing the stumps.
57.3 : J Anderson to Holder, On a good length on off, Jason defends it off the back foot.
57.4 : J Anderson to Holder, BEATEN! Good length delivery outside off, Holder looks to defend but misses it.
57.5 : J Anderson to Holder, On a good length and outside off, Jason shoulders arms to this one.
57.6 : J Anderson to Holder, Good length ball on off, Holder blocks it to get through the over.
Guess who? Guess who? The son of the match referee is warming up.
Stuart Broad is back on.
58.1 : S Broad to Dowrich, Full delivery on middle, Dowrich drives it through mid on for a run.
58.2 : S Broad to Holder, On a length on off, Holder pushes it through covers. The batsmen get two runs.
Holder looks to be plumb in front but has decided to take the review. More of a desperate attempt for luck more than anything. Let's see if he has any luck.
58.3 : Broad to Holder, OUT! LBW! No luck for Jason Holder and his valiant knock comes to an end. Broad uses the width of the crease and bowls a length ball pitching around off and coming back in. Holder looks to flick but misses and gets hit on the pads. Broad is confident he has his man and goes up in his trademark appeal-celebration combo. The umpire agrees with him and raises his finger. Holder knows he is a goner but decides to signal the 'T'. Ultra Edge first rolls in and it shows that ther
Rakheem Cornwall replaces his skipper out in the middle.
58.4 : S Broad to Cornwall, Outside off, Cornwall leaves it alone.
Sir, there is an issue. England have handed the ball to Michael Gough, who has a mild look at it and then returns it to the English players! Seems like it has gone slightly out of shape.
58.5 : S Broad to Cornwall, Length ball on off, Cornwall blocks it.
58.6 : S Broad to Cornwall, Good length ball on off, Cornwall gets behind the ball and keeps it out.

59.6 : J Anderson to Dowrich, Better from SD. Stays back and blocks watchfully.
Drinks break! A very timid hour of bowling from England. They look like a completely different bowling unit than the last hour of last day's play. They have looked a bit casual in their approach and have failed to bowl out West Indies before the follow-on. They do have got the wicket of Holder but that is the only success they have had so far. Dowrich is still out there for the tourists joined by Cornwall who is no pushover with the bat. The visitor will like to bat for as long as possible. Can
60.1 : S Broad to R Cornwall, Full delivery on off, Cornwall drives it towards mid off.

60.4 : S Broad to R Cornwall, Good length ball around off, Cornwall drives it but not with much control through covers and gets a couple.

61.6 : J Anderson to Dowrich, On a good length on off, Shane blocks it well.
62.1 : S Broad to Cornwall, On a good length on off, Cornwall blocks it off the front foot.
0.0 : Review time! Rakheem Cornwall has been adjudged LBW and he has decided to take the review. Another one that looks hopeful more than anything. Let's see what the replays have to say.
62.2 : Broad to Cornwall, OUT! LBW! Cornwall departs too and just like his skipper takes away a review. Excellent bowling from Broad. He has his 4th wicket of the innings and he has looked brilliant. His 495th Test victim. Legendary! Good length ball around off and it comes back in. Cornwall looks to play it across the line as he looks to flick. He misses and gets hit on the pads. Broad goes up in appeal along with his teammates and the umpire agrees. Corwnall decides to take the review. Replay
Kemar Roach is the new man in.

62.4 : S Broad to Roach, Fuller on off, Kemar defends it.
62.5 : S Broad to Roach, OUT! Caught! Roach goes for a duck and Broad has his 5th wicket. Another 5-fer for Broad and we are so used to seeing it. Good length ball around off, Roach looks to defend but the ball moves away from him and takes the outside edge of Kemar's bat. It goes low to first slip where Root takes a good catch.
Shannon Gabriel is the last man in.
62.6 : S Broad to S Gabriel, Almost dragged on! Good length ball outside off, Gabriel looks to play it on the off side but gets a under edge which sees the ball go past the stumps and towards fine leg. They take a single.

64.5 : S Broad to Dowrich, Good length delivery on off, Dowrich plays it to point.
64.6 : S Broad to Dowrich, OUT! Caught! That is the end of West Indies' innings. Dowrich is the last man to depart and Broad finishes with 6-fer. Excellent stuff from England's talisman. He bangs the deck hard on off, Dowrich looks to pull but mistimes it and ends up lobbying it to mid on. Chris Woakes has a safe pair of hands and he makes no mistake. WEST INDIES ALL OUT FOR 197!
Stuart Broad takes the ball from Woakes and rightly so. He will want to keep that to himself. Not selected for the first Test and he has definitely made his point. 6 wickets in 14 overs, that is a wicket every 14 balls.
So West Indies avoid the follow-on but England get a lead of 172. That is more than enough for a result if we get one full day's play. The bowling was pretty much upto the mark, except for that first hour this morning. 6 wickets for Broad, 2 for Anderson, but the entire bowling unit was excellent.
Another shoddy display with the bat for the visitors. This time it has been technical deficiency which has brought about their downfall. Playing from the crease, not shuffling their feet and getting trapped by the movement of the ball. Only Jason Holder played an innings of some confidence while the rest simply withered away. Dowrich's innings looks good on the scorecard but he struggled for a major part while Campbell got a brute.
Less than 20 minutes to go for Lunch. England are well ahead in this game but in personal terms, this will be a nervous moment for Rory Burns and Dom Sibley. They would want to go into the break unscathed.
Here come the two English openers. 20 minutes to bat.
0.1 : K Roach to Burns, Roach starts with a good length ball on the pads, it does not move much. Burns glances it to square leg to begin the innings.
0.2 : K Roach to Burns, Good length ball on off and middle, Burns defends it by getting right behind it.
0.3 : K Roach to R Burns, EDGED BUT FALLS SHORT! Holder has hurt himself here. Good length ball around off, Burns looks to defend but does so with soft hands. He gets a thick outside edge which falls short of second slip. Holder gets down and the ball brushes his fingers and goes behind allowing them to take a single. The skipper is down in pain and looks like he has hurt his finger. Replays roll in and show that the ball bounced in front of him and hit him on the top of his left thumb. That can
The physio is out as Holder is down and looks to be in a lot of pain. Holder is walking off the field now. West Indies will hope that their skipper returns sooner rather than later.

3.6 : S Gabriel to Sibley, FOUR! On a good length on off, Sibley looks to defend but gets an outside edge. It goes past gully towards third man for a boundary. THAT WILL BE LUNCH ON DAY 3!
Another session goes by, and nothing has changed. England remain unscathed at the end of the first session on Day 3 and are way on top of the West Indies, as they lead now by 182 runs. The visitors will need to perform some sort of miracle now to stay in this game and to have any hopes of retaining the Wisden trophy.
The session started with some momentum for the visitors. It looked like they would pull away a bit after Holder and Dowrich avoided the follow-on but it was again just moments rather than a long period of good play from the West Indies. As soon as Stuart Broad came into the attack, he started to rip apart the West Indies. West Indies went from 178 for 6 to 197 all out, with Broad taking all four wickets, completing his 5-fer in the process as well.
England had about 20 minutes to survive after the innings break before Lunch and they have done so successfully, with Burns and Sibley both still at the crease. They will look to set the platform for the batters coming in next so that they can go hammer and tongs and swell their lead. Can the West Indies choke them and take some wickets to turn the tide a bit in their favour? Join us after the Lunch break to find out!
... Day 3, Afternoon Session ...

Time for a drink. The match is slowly but surely going away from the West Indies. But what can they do? If they bowl with fire and get England all out quickly, that would mean enough time for the hosts to get them out as well, in spite of the poor weather. On the other hand, playing for time, hoping that the rain would come, will not help either! Probably, the best way to play would be just enjoy the game. Give your best and hope for the best. It has been a painful 16 overs for West Indies, with

Not the most enthralling session but England won't be complaining as they have not lost any wicket and are literally batting West Indies out of the game. They are 86/0 but in reality they are 258 runs ahead and have all their 10 wickets in hand. The run rate has not been sub-par and it will be interesting to see their approach in the final session as the weather forecast for tomorrow is terrible.
West Indies, on the other hand, had a very tough session. Their players struggling for fitness and bowlers struggling to get the breakthrough has seen their heads drop a bit. Holder will need to motivate and inspire his men and will need someone to show some fight in the final session. How will the host play the final session? Will they go on the aggressive or carry on their cautious approach? Join us in the final session to find out.

The hosts have around 23 minutes to try and get a wicket or two. Can West Indies rise from the ashes or will the inevitable happen?
0.1 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Anderson starts with a good length delivery around off. A hint of away moment but Brathwaite gets behind it and blocks it.
0.2 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Good length ball outside off this time, Brathwaite leaves it alone.

0.5 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On the pads, Brathwaite looks to flick but misses and gets hit on the thigh pad.

1.2 : S Broad to Campbell, Good length ball angling in to the left-hander, Campbell manages to defend it.
1.3 : S Broad to J Campbell, OUT! Caught! Broad gets his 498th Test victim and that comes from a beauty! Traditional Broad wicket. He has enjoyed bowling to left-handers and has more often than not won the battle against them. Nothing different here. Terrific delivery from Broad. He comes in and bowls it slightly fuller on off, Campbell thinks it will come with the angle but goes the other way. It takes the fat outside edge of his willow and goes straight to first slip. Skipper, Joe Root there ma

2.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On a good length on off, Kraigg keeps it out.
3.1 : S Broad to Roach, OUT! Caught behind! Two wickets in no time for Broad and make that victim number 499 for him in Tests. He was angry on being dropped from the first Test and he has guided that anger in the right place. The night watchman does not survive the day to see the night. Excellent delivery. It would be good for majority of the top order batsmen, it was going to be too good for the night watchman. Broad bowls it full around off and the ball shapes away a bit. Roach looks to defend
0.0 : Shai Hope walks out to bat now.
3.2 : S Broad to Hope, On the pads, Hope flicks it to mid-wicket to start his innings.
3.3 : S Broad to Hope, Outside off, Hope leaves it alone.
3.4 : S Broad to Hope, Almost had scalp number 500. Peach of a delivery from Broad. He comes wide of the crease and makes the ball straightens after pitching. Hope looks to defend but gets nothing on it and the ball just by a mere inches misses the outside edge.
3.5 : S Broad to S Hope, EDGED AND FOUR! Good length ball on off, Hope looks to defend but does so with soft hands. The ball takes the outside edge and goes through gully for a boundary. Hope is off the mark but not in a conventional manner.

5.3 : S Broad to Hope, Fuller on off, Hope plays a slid push to mid off.
5.4 : S Broad to Hope, Extra bounce! Broad hits the deck hard and the ball shoots off the surface. Hope hops and takes his eyes off the ball but somehow manages to defend it.
5.5 : S Broad to Hope, Full on off, Hope defends it. One ball to go. Can Hope survive or will Broad end the day with 500 Test wickets?
5.6 : S Broad to Hope, Hope survives! Good length ball outside off, Hope looks to defend but misses. That is STUMPS ON DAY 3!
Excellent day of cricket if you are an England fan but if you're a West Indian then it was just too painful. The tourists started off the day positively and avoided the follow-on in the first hour but after that it was all England. They bowled out West Indies for 197 and then the batting trio of Sibley, Burns and Root took the game to the depleted West Indies side who had a lot of fitness issues. They managed to build on the lead and decided to declare, giving the tourists 399 to chase. The host
A miserable day of cricket for West Indies. Everything started going downhill post the first hour. They looked tired, jaded, out of ideas and their bodies started to crumble.
They missed their star man Shannon Gabriel with the ball as he bowled just 5 overs and they never looked like threatening the English batters. Their heads started to fall in the field and they looked completely opposite to how they looked in the first Test. Needing 399 to win and 2 days and 20 odd minutes to survive the first thing they would have wanted was to have their 10 wickets intact coming to Day 4 but they lost opener John Campbell and night watchman Kemar Roach. They are up against it a
So that is it from Day 3! West Indies are on the brink of surrendering the Wisden Trophy and only a miracle can see them bat 2 days or win this. The weather forecast for Day 4 does not look great which can be a good news if you support the Caribbean nation. Let's hope we have no rain and we can have play.
Thank you so much for joining the coverage of Day 3. Join us on Monday, Day 4 of the final Test between England and West Indies. The action will begin at 1100 local (1000 GMT). Hope to see you then. Till then, goodbye and take care!
... DAY 4 ...
Rain, rain, more rain. Come, so that West Indies might have some gain. Don't come so that fans may not have any more pain! Ahh... just as we thought that we might escape the weather in this Test, here comes the effect. Hello and a warm welcome, err... wet welcome to this fourth day of this third Test.
WEATHER - A look at the heavens first up. Not promising at all. It is soggy and the pitch is covered. Now, a look at the radar. Very threatening. It does seem like we might have a forced day-off...
Coming to this game, West Indies look almost buried. Giving a lead of 172, then being set a target of 399 and further, losing 2 wickets quickly. The prospect of Monday getting washed out might come as a relief for them but there is a Day 5 awaiting as well. If play resumes, how much time will England need to pick 8 wickets?
At times like these, our minds go back to the ground coverage in Sri Lanka. The groundsmen there cover the entire ground. That way, once the rain stops, it becomes easier to dry the ground out. Here, in the UK, once the rain stops, we have to spend extra time in drying the ground out. Well, human labour is costly in the UK and secondly, the drainage is pretty good in England.
1000 GMT - The first ball is about to be bowled! This should have been our text by now. But unfortunately, we are nowhere even close to have play underway. First, rain has to stop. Then, the outfield has to dry. We are hearing about a brief passage of clear sky in the afternoon, but that will be followed by a thunderstorm prediction in the evening.
Nothing much to update. Thought we might talk about the World Cup Super League. That is similar to the World Test Championship, only this will be for white-ball cricket. England and Ireland kickstart that series from 30th July, which will also see the TV umpire call front-foot no balls.
An update on Shane Dowrich. He got hit on the chin yesterday while trying to keep. There is a little cut on the lip but no excessive damage. So he should be fit enough to bat.
1100 GMT - Time for Drinks, gentlemen! Missing these words? Sadly, everyone is having a drink at the moment, but in the dressing room. The situation might have improved by just a little bit with the groundstaff hurrying across to mop but it does look like they will need plenty of time to dry this outfield. Only to see it get wet by another shower, as per the forecast.
With two days officially remaining in this match and the series, it is time to look beyond. Pakistan play England next, but before that, Ireland have a little peek-a-boo for a 3-ODI series. England have just announced their squad for that series.
England's ODI squad for Ireland series - Eoin Morgan(c), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Tom Banton, Sam Billings, Tom Curran, Liam Dawson, Joe Denly, Saqib Mahmood, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Reece Topley, James Vince and David Willey.
1206 GMT - It would have been Lunch in normal scenarios, as it would have been time for a break. But we have been having a break ever since the last ball was bowled last evening. Not much comfortable updates on the weather, with a grim forecast looming.
1243 GMT - Rain has stopped. Take a breath. Now read again. Rain has stopped. But the covers look absolutely wet. It is going to take a real long time to drain the water out. Our fear is - the groundstaff does all the hard work, only for the rain to come and wash away all its efforts. Poor blokes.
1259 GMT - The umpires are taking an inspection. There are puddles developed on the outfield and if I am a good face-reader, then those emotions certainly don't reckon that they are happy one bit. We are hearing that there is an INSPECTION SCHEDULED AT 3 PM LOCAL (1400 GMT). Of course, if there is no more rain.
There we go. It has started to RAIN. Forget that inspection now...
1448 GMT - It should have been the time when Tea is taken in Manchester. But unfortunately, nothing much has changed from the last update. If any, the rain has gotten heavier. We may not be far from shutting the shop.
Good night! Nothing, absolutely nothing could make play happen in Manchester on Monday. Incessant rain has forced DAY 4 TO BE CALLED OFF. The weather was clearing but given that more wet weather was forecast around 5 pm (1600 GMT), the umpires have taken the safety call.
West Indies will be happy. They have been given a lifeline. It is now to try and bat out the whole of Tuesday. Even in that, they have hope of having around a session to be washed out. Will England have enough time to claim the series and the last edition of the Wisden Trophy? Join us on 28th July, 2020 at 11 am local (1000 GMT). ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
... DAY 5 ...
98 overs, 8 wickets. That is the equation. Not many would be really bothered about chasing down 389, unless you are Sir Viv Richards or Ricky Ponting. England looking for the series, West Indies aiming for survival while fans hoping for some cricket. Hello and a warm welcome to this final day of the Wisden Trophy.
WEATHER - A look at the heavens straight up. There was a passing shower around 30 minutes ago but now, the ground is bathed in sunshine. We could have a prompt start but that depends on how wet or dry the ground is. We are expecting intermittent showers throughout the day, but can guarantee you enough action to enjoy.
Stuart Broad probably would have spent a couple of nights sleeplessly thinking about his to-be 500th Test victim while Kraigg Brathwaite would be hoping, or rather aiming, NOT to be that 500th victim. He was Anderson's 500th Test victim as well, at Lord's, in September 2017!
Yippeee! We are all set for the final day of the Wisden Trophy, 2020 and the final day of the Trophy in general. The players are on the field on a day which is cold and blustery. West Indies need to show some character. Here is Jimmy Anderson from the Jimmy Anderson end to Kraigg Brathwaite.
6.1 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Starts with a ball on the pads, Brathwaite gets across and tucks it towards leg gully.
6.2 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Full and outside off, pushed solidly towards short extra cover.
6.3 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Ooohh... this stays low, landing just outside off, Kraigg shuffles across and blocks.
6.4 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Beauty. On a length outside off, KB looks to defend but the ball zips past the outside edge. Guess Brathwaite needs to be positive. Try and score runs, rather than just looking to defend every ball.
6.5 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On a good length outside off, pushed towards cover.
6.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Full and straight, blocked towards mid on. A maiden to start Day 5.
Stuart Broad has a big smile on his face as he gets the ball in his hand. We can also see some sunshine splitting across the field. That would be a welcome gift for the players, amidst all this wind.
7.1 : S Broad to Hope, On a good length on off, Hope defends it off the back foot.
7.2 : S Broad to Hope, Good length delivery on off, Hope blocks it off the front foot.
7.3 : S Broad to Hope, On a good length on middle, Shai blocks it off the back foot.
7.4 : S Broad to Hope, Good length delivery on middle, Hope looks to defend but gets hit on the thigh pad.
7.5 : S Broad to Hope, SLASHED, FOUR! Wide and full from Broad, outside off, Hope throws his bat at it and gets a bit of an outside edge. But it screams to the left of backward point, into the fence behind.
7.6 : S Broad to Hope, Outside off, on a length, Shai defends watchfully.
8.1 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On a length on middle, Brathwaite flicks it through mid-wicket. The batsmen get two runs.
8.2 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Good length delivery on off, Brathwaite keeps it out.
8.3 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On a good length on off, Kraigg blocks it off the back foot.
8.4 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, BEATEN! On a good length and outside off, Brathwaite looks to defend but misses it due to the seam movement on this one.
8.5 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, Good length delivery on middle, Brathwaite defends it out.
8.6 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On a good length on off, Kraigg offers a solid defense on this one.
9.1 : S Broad to Hope, Full delivery on off, Hope drives it towards covers where Archer misfields and concedes a single.
9.2 : S Broad to Brathwaite, BEATEN! On a good length and outside off, Brathwaite looks to defend but misses it.
9.3 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Good length delivery on off, Brathwaite blocks it off the back foot.
9.4 : S Broad to Brathwaite, On a good length on middle, Brathwaite looks to defend but gets hit on the thigh pad. The bowler appeals for lbw but the umpire shakes his head.
9.5 : S Broad to K Brathwaite, FOUR! That is what Brathwaite needs to do more often. Get on the front foot. Full and outside off, Kraigg leans into this one and drives it through wide mid off.
9.6 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Good length delivery on off, Kraigg defends it off the back foot.
10.1 : J Anderson to Hope, BEATEN! On a good length and outside off, Hope looks to defend but misses it.
10.2 : J Anderson to Hope, BEATEN! Beauty of a delivery! On a good length on off, Hope looks to defend but misses it as the ball comes back in sharply. It goes just over the middle stump.
10.3 : J Anderson to Hope, Length delivery on off, Hope punches it towards covers for a run.
10.4 : J Anderson to Brathwaite, On a length on middle, Brathwaite flicks it towards mid-wicket for a single.
10.5 : J Anderson to Hope, Length delivery on off, Hope pushes it through covers. The batsmen pick up a couple.
10.6 : J Anderson to Hope, FOUR! Nicely played! On a length on middle, Hope flicks it towards fine leg for a boundary.
11.1 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Full delivery on off, Brathwaite drives it through mid off. The batsmen get two runs.
11.2 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Full outside off, Brathwaite defends it towards point.
Just a little bit of rain blowing down. We have had that all morning. The groundstaff is getting ready with the covers but the umpires are not too bothered. It is a good thing that both are English umpires, as they would know the conditions better than neutral umpires.
11.3 : S Broad to Brathwaite, FOUR! Poor ball and punished! On the pads, Brathwaite flicks it through mid-wicket and gets a boundary.
And we are going off. Does not look too big in the distance but just heavy enough to force the players off. Looks like a passing shower. Won't be surprised if we resume shortly. The English players are in absolutely no hurry to leave.
More covers coming on but we can see plenty of wind and some blue sky. The problem with this type of days is that every time the ball goes into the outfield, it becomes wet and difficult to grip. England will hope that when they resume, the outfield is dry.
We are hearing that the covers are being removed. That seems to be a good sign. We should not be far from resumption.
In fact, the players are already on the field. Bright sunshine has enveloped the ground. Who would say that it was raining a while ago? English weather...
11.4 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Broad bowls full on off, Brathwaite defends it with a straight bat.
11.5 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Good length ball around off, Kraigg blocks it.
11.6 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Length ball on off, Brathwaite keeps it out and gets through the over.
12.1 : J Anderson to Hope, Full and swinging in. Hope looks to flick but it goes off the inner half of his bat towards square leg for a couple.
12.2 : J Anderson to Hope, Ohh! Good length ball outside off, it comes back in. Hope looks to defend but misses and the ball just misses the outside edge.
12.3 : J Anderson to Hope, Length delivery on off, Hope defends it.
12.4 : J Anderson to Hope, FOUR! Gorgeous shot! Overpitched slightly on off, Hope is not in a great run of form but his talent is so good that he is able to pounce on it and play a wonderful drive through extra cover for a boundary.
12.5 : J Anderson to Hope, Follows it up with a calm defense.
12.6 : J Anderson to Hope, Good length ball angled into the pads, Hope looks to defend but misses and gets hit on the pads.
13.1 : S Broad to Brathwaite, FOUR! Poor from Broad! He is guilty of giving width outside off and also bowling slightly short. Brathwaite cuts it behind point and gets a boundary.
13.2 : S Broad to Brathwaite, Fuller on off, KB taps it back to the bowler.
13.3 : Broad to Brathwaite, OUT! LBW! Broad enters the galaxy of greats and he has his 500th Test wicket. Brathwaite three years ago was Anderson's 500th wicket and now he has become his partner Broad's milestone victim. Proud moment for Broad, his friends and family. Broad bowls goes fuller on off, the ball comes back in and also keeps low after pitching. Brathwaite looks to defend but misses and gets hit low on the back foot. Broad and his teammates go up in appeal and the umpire raises his fin
Shamarh Brooks walks out to the middle.

18.2 : C Woakes to Brooks, Length delivery on middle, Brooks flicks it towards square leg for a run.
18.3 : Woakes to S Hope, OUT! Caught! Once again Hope gets a start and throws it away. A problem far too frequent in the recent years in the longest format. West Indies in big trouble here and have lost both their overnight batsmen. Woakes gets into the wicket column. Woakes bowls it slightly shorter outside off, Hope looks to pull it but ends up hitting it off the upper half of his bat. The ball goes high in the air in front of mid off. Three players are coming for it but Broad wants to be part

Good length ball outside off, it nips in just a bit. Brooks looks to drive it towards mid on but without any foot movement and away from his body. The ball shapes in and kisses the inside edge as it goes low to the left of Buttler. He takes an easy catch behind the stumps. Looks like the only way West Indies can save this Test

22.3 : C Woakes to Blackwood, Good length delivery on off, Jermaine keeps it out.
22.4 : C Woakes to Blackwood, Full delivery on off, Blackwood drives it back towards the bowler.

Ahh... Rain is back and the umpires have taken the players off. It looks like a passing shower. But umpire Kettleborough is talking to Joe Root, indicating something with his wristwatch. Is that an indication of an early Lunch?
The rain has stopped and the umpires are back for an inspection. Doesn't look like they are going to recall the players. Yes, it is an EARLY LUNCH.
A session which saw everything. Runs, flashes of blades, rain, wickets but above all - play. We missed this for the whole of Monday and are excited to see the game resume.
Brathwaite and Hope started cautiously but then the former was dismissed by a one that kept low. It is the shot selection of Shai Hope which will be questioned. This is what happens when one looks to come out of a bad rut - you live by the sword but you also die by it. That was followed by the dismissal of Shamarh Brooks and three wickets in the span of 46 balls has put West Indies on the mat.
England were on the money, not bowling too many bad balls and keeping the ball on the right spot. Broad got his 500th victim and then Woakes struck twice. Anderson was tight as well.
Since early Lunch has been taken, we shall not be losing any overs. There are 80.3 overs left in the day, so there is plenty of possible play left. Now, whether West Indies would be able to exercise that option or not, is another issue. 5 wickets in hand and more importantly, two new batsmen at the crease.
The current situation is of some bright sunshine but there are some dark clouds lurking behind. All eyes would be glued on Roston Chase. Before this Test, he had faced 1017 balls in the 4th innings alone, since 2016. The next best for West Indies is Kraigg Brathwaite with 836.
We should have started by now but there has been another burst of a shower. That has delayed proceedings again. So we shall resume at 1.35 PM LOCAL (1235 GMT).
23.4 : J Archer to Blackwood, Good length delivery outside off, Blackwood offers no shot to this one.
23.5 : J Archer to Blackwood, Archer steams in and hits the deck hard on off, Blackwood blocks it off the back foot.

And we are off again! The drizzle has intensified and there is another interruption. The good thing is that there is only one cover on, so this should not be too big a break. The fourth umpire is on the field, talking to the groundstaff.
The English players are all sitting outside, which is an even better sign. The bad weather is mainly coming in from the west at the moment. Uh oh... the players are shifting inside, to their dressing room. Might have to get another cover on.

End of a fantastic Test series and England after being 1-0 down have shown their grit and strength to win the series 2-1. A very dominant performance from the hosts with both the bat and ball. West Indies showed a lot of promise at the beginning of the tour but with every Test and passing day in those Tests they looked tired and their fight started to surrender. After being put into bat, the hosts were in a state of bother at 122/4 but a brilliant 140-run stand between Pope and Buttler along wi
Momentum was with England and Broad and they carried it to the field as a brilliant display of seam bowling as they never let West Indies settle and chipped wickets regularly and bundled them to just 197 and carried a 172 runs lead. Stuart Broad was the tormentor in cheif as he grabbed a 6-wicket haul. The West Indies batting struggled and no one got going. The only saving grace for them was that they avoided the follow-on but apart from that there was nothing much to write about them with only
England then were always in a position to win it and it was going to take a miracle or English weather to avoid them a win. Building on their lead, the opening pair of Sibley and Burns took their time and batted the tourists out of the game with their fifties. Skipper Joe Root then came out after the dismissal of Sibley and his ODI-esque added impetus to the innings and ballooned that lead to 398 before Burns departed for 90 and the skipper decided they had enough. West Indies bowling struggled
Stuart Broad had a Test to remember and he was in the mood to punish the Caribbean side. For the hosts, they needed weather to help them out but nature by itself could not do anything if they were unable to fight for themselves. They lost 2 wickets towards the end of Day 3 as Broad was spitting venom. Rain did give West Indies a little bit of hope as Day 4 was washed out but the tourists had lost the game in their head and showed little to no resistance as Broad added 2 more to his 2 from Day 3
Stay tuned as we wait for the captain's thoughts and also find out who the Man of the Match and Player of the Series are. A fair few contenders for the latter as we have had some very good performance by a few players in this series.

West Indies skipper, Holder admits that they did not put enough runs and says they should have put up big runs in the first innings of the last 2 Test. So that is it from the Wisden Trophy. Cricket came back after a break of more than 100 days and it came back with a very good fighting series but England showed their superiority and came back to win the series 2-1. Holder and co. showed fight but it was not enough in the end. A lot of positives to take and work with moving forward for the Caribbean nation. England now will welcome Ireland for a 3-match ODI series which will also kickstart the ICC World ODI Super League. Thanks for joining us fo
