Match over
0.6 : 0.6: Mohammed Siraj to David Warner, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! That is the ideal start for India! They strike in the first over and it is the big wicket of David Warner! His run of low scores continues. That is a superb nut though. He lands it on a length and around middle, gets it to angle away. Warner looks to defend but is done in by the angle. He ends up playing inside the line. It goes off the outside edge low between first and second slip. Rohit Sharma dives and takes a brilliant catch. A very
4.5 : 4.5: Mohammed Siraj to Marnus Labuschagne, FOUR! Short and put away! First boundary of the Test off the blade! Siraj goes for a surprise bumper! Labuschagne is not taken by surprise. He swivels and pulls it behind square on the leg side and it races away. Not a bad idea by Siraj to go for the short one but Marnus was up for the challenge.
8.1 : 8.1: Shardul Thakur to Marcus Harris, OUT! CAUGHT! And now, Harris falls and Australia lose both their openers very early on in the game. Thakur strikes right on the first ball of his spell. Thakur dishes a length ball on middle, Harris looks to clip this one to the leg side but he does so uppishly. Unluckily for him, there is a fielder present there at square leg. Sundar, there, judges it well and takes it nicely. Just the start that India would have wanted as they have sent both the Austral
12.3 : 12.3: Shardul Thakur to Steven Smith, FOUR! Whipped away! Not a very bad delivery but this is Smith's strength! It is fuller and on middle, looking to hit the pads of Smith. He whips it through wide mid on for a boundary.
12.4 : 12.4: Shardul Thakur to Steven Smith, FOUR! SHOT! This is beautiful! Back-to-back boundaries and this is better than the last one. Yes, it is a half volley outside off but still needs to be put away and Smith does it in style. He leans into it nicely and creams it through covers.
17.6 : 17.6: Mohammed Siraj to Marnus Labuschagne, FOUR! SHOT! That was an imperious on-drive! Treat to the eyes. A length ball on off, Labuschagne shows the full face of the blade as he drives this one through mid on and the ball speeds away to the long on ropes. A good way to end the over.
18.5 : 18.5: Shardul Thakur to Steven Smith, FOUR! A loud shout of catch but it is in the gap! Fortunate boundary for Smith but he won't mind! Better from Thakur. He is really getting the ball to shape nicely. He bowls it full encouraging the drive. Smith does go for it but the away swing induces the outside edge, it goes uppishly but through backward point for a boundary. Smith had a relieved look on his face after he saw that go in the gap.
18.6 : 18.6: Shardul Thakur to Steven Smith, FOUR! This one is exquisite! Wonderful! Thakur goes full again but this one goes straight on and it is an easy half volley. Smith creams it past mid off and it races away. Second boundary in the over. Another expensive one by Thakur.
20.6: Shardul Thakur to Steven Smith, FOUR! Gets it wrong on the last ball! This is the problem with Thakur, he has not bowled with control. Bowled 5 good balls but let all the pressure ease away with a wide short one outside off. Smith cracks it through point and it races away to the fence.
31.1 : 31.1: Navdeep Saini to Marnus Labuschagne, FOUR. This was a controlled stroke by Marnus. Waited on the ball and then dispatched this one. Shortish and on middle, Labuschagne swivel-pulls this one through the mid-wicket region and the ball speeds away to the advertisment triangles.
34.1: Washington Sundar to Steven Smith, OUT! CAUGHT! Sundar breaks this partnership and this is his first Test wicket. Does not get any bigger than this, gets the big fish, that is Smith. Sundar floats it up around off and middle, Smith comes forward slightly and flicks this one uppishly towards the short mid-wicket region. Rohit Sharma is the fielder there and he gets low and takes a delightful catch. You could also say that this is a soft dismissal. Smith looked like he was here for the
34.6 : 34.6: Washington Sundar to Matthew Wade, FOUR! Wade gets off the mark with a boundary! A good shot! He had some width to play with and he does not miss out. Short and outside off, Wade slashes his blade through this and the ball speeds away through point, for a boundary.
41.6: T Natarajan to Matthew Wade, FOUR! Beautiful shot! This is pure timing! Fuller and on off, Wade leans into it and strokes it nicely through covers for a boundary.
46.6: Washington Sundar to Matthew Wade, FOUR! SLAMMED! Wade finds the ropes now. Loopy and outside off, Wade smacks this one through the cover region and the fielder gives it chase and tries to stop the ball before the ropes but the ball wins the race to the ropes.
47.5 : 47.5: T Natarajan to Marnus Labuschagne, FOUR! That is cracked! It is full and there to be hit. Labuschagne is not going to miss out. He strokes it through covers, the timing is good enough to bag a boundary.
49.3 : 49.3: Shardul Thakur to Matthew Wade, EDGY FOUR. Wade is the lucky person here. Goes in between the slip cordon and the gully fielder. On a length on off, Wade looks to block this one out with soft hands but the ball moves away ever so slightly and takes the outside edge. Goes just past the second slip fielder and into the third man fence for a boundary.
49.6 : 49.6: Shardul Thakur to Matthew Wade, FOUR! A gift to Wade, by Thakur and Wade accepts gleefully! A full toss outside off, Wade hammers this one through the extra cover region and though 2 fielders gave it a chase, it would not make a difference as the ball ran away to the ropes.
51.2 : 51.2: Shardul Thakur to Marnus Labuschagne, FOUR! Marnus dispatches this one! Short and on off, Labuschagne pulls this one through the mid-wicket region to find the ropes.
51.3 : 51.3: Shardul Thakur to Marnus Labuschagne, FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries for Marnus! He is making full use of the lives that he has been handed! Thakur drags the length back even more and this is a shorter one around off. Labuschagne swivel-pulls this one through sqaure leg for a boundary.
52.1 : 52.1: Washington Sundar to Marnus Labuschagne, FOUR! Labushchagne is looking to turn it on now! His third boundary from the last over. Floated on off, Marnus gets on his knees and looks to sweep but it takes the under edge and runs away to the fine leg fence for a boundary.
57.2 : 57.2: Shardul Thakur to Marnus Labuschagne, FOUR! Crisp! This is fuller and where Labuschagne likes it. He creams it through wide mid off and the ball races away to the fence.
61.6 : 61.6: Shardul Thakur to Marnus Labuschagne, FOUR! A wonderful on-drive! Labuschagne moves to 97 with that shot! Length and around off, Marnus stands tall and punches this one through the mid on region and even though a fielder gives it a chase, the ball wins the race to the ropes.
62.1 : 62.1: Mohammed Siraj to Matthew Wade, FOUR! Runs are flowing freely now for the Australians! Another boundary! A full delivery on middle, Wade clips this one through the square leg region and he fetches a boundary.
63.4 : 63.4: T Natarajan to Matthew Wade, OUT! CAUGHT! Finally, India get the wicket that they were looking for and they have broken this partnership which was doing them much damage! Also, the first wicket for Natarajan in Tests. He will be really happy with this. Natarajan fires in a short ball on middle, Wade looks to pull this one but does not do so cleanly. It takes the top edge as the bounce gets big on him and lobs high in the air just in between mid on and mid off. Two fielders are running i
64.6 : 64.6: Mohammed Siraj to Cameron Green, FOUR! CLASSY! Excellent way to start your innings! Plays this one down the ground with ease. Fullish length ball outside off, Green leans forward and drives this one through mid off and this time, he finds the ropes.
65.5 : 65.5: T Natarajan to Marnus Labuschagne, OUT! CAUGHT! Natarajan has scalped his second wicket in his maiden Test game and he gets the big, big wicket of Labuschagne, who did not want to stop batting, by the looks of things. A huge wicket for India. Just when you thought Australia were running away with the game, India comes back and grab two quick wickets. This is a shortish length delivery around off, Labuschagne looks to pull but once again is done in by the extra bounce. The ball takes the
70.1 : 70.1: Washington Sundar to Tim Paine, FOUR! Nice and fine! That loosener will release the pressure that was building. On the pads, this is worked fine on the leg side and it races away to the fence.
74.1: Washington Sundar to Cameron Green, FOUR! Beautiful use of the feet! Floated around off, Green puts on his dancing shoes and lofts this one over the bowler's head for a boundary.
78.6 : 78.6: Washington Sundar to Tim Paine, FOUR! Swept and swept away fine! Floated around leg, Paine sweeps this one through the short fine leg region, into the fine leg fence. A good way to end the over.
80.6: Washington Sundar to Tim Paine, FOUR! 250 up in style! Shorter and outside off, Paine stays back and guides it nicely through point for a boundary.
83.2 : 83.2: T Natarajan to Tim Paine, FOUR! DISPATCHED! No bounce on this one and it is easily send to the ropes by the skipper! A back of a length ball on off, Paine swivel-pulls this one to the deep mid-wicket region for a boundary.
85.3 : 85.3: T Natarajan to Cameron Green, FOUR! Better length this time around but he gets punished! Slightly overpitched on off, Green leans into the shot and creams his drive through cover-point to find the ropes. Agarwal gives chase but loses the race.
85.5 : 85.5: T Natarajan to Tim Paine, FOUR! Paine says thank you very much! You don't offer a gift to him and expect him to just deny it. Shorter again outside off, Paine clobbers this one through cover-point to find the ropes again.
87.4 : 87.4: T Natarajan to Cameron Green, FOUR! This is brilliant. This is good cricket overall. Full length and on off and middle, Cameron Green drives that straight back past the bowler and gets a boundary.
87.6 : 87.6: T Natarajan to Cameron Green, FOUR! Drive again. On a full length and around the off pole line, Cameron just pushes that wide of mid off and the ball has enough timing on it to race away to the boundary.
93.4 : 93.4: T Natarajan to Cameron Green, EDGED.... FOUR! Oh... Nick Knight (on air) reckons that there should have been a third slip there. Sanjay Manjrekar (on air) too concurs with that. Full length delivery, Cameron comes forward and goes for the drive. Ends up getting an outside edge and the ball flies between slips and gully, where third slip would have been, down to the third man fence.
95.1 : 95.1: Shardul Thakur to Tim Paine, FOUR! Thakur is welcomed with a boundary. Full and on the pads, easy for Paine. He whips it through mid-wicket for a boundary. Australia cross 300. Paine moves to 47.
99.2 : 99.2: Shardul Thakur to Tim Paine, OUT! TAKEN! Shardul strikes. A much-needed wicket for the Indians. Superb from Shardul. He runs in and lands a fuller ball outside off from wide of the crease. Paine has been looking for the scoring opportunities. He sees the length and a bit of width too. He looks to go for the drive through the covers but the ball shapes away, just a tad bit, but it is enough to induce an outside edge. It goes to the right side of Rohit Sharma at second slip. It goes quickly
100.5 : 100.5: Washington Sundar to Cameron Green, OUT! TIMBER! Lovely from Sundar. Green is the man who falls now. India get rid of both the set batters in back-to-back overs. Tosses the ball up and lands it around middle, Green looks to defend but the ball spins away just a touch and beats his bat. He played for the turn but missed the ball completely. The ball though goes onto hit its mark. Maybe there was an outside edge there. Green falls 3 short of his half ton.
101.4 : 101.4: Shardul Thakur to Pat Cummins, OUT! LBW! Three reds! Shardul gets another one. India storming back in this game here. Superb stuff from Shardul here. He bowl this one full and straight. Cummins looks to flick but misses to get pinned on the pads, right in front of the wickets. They all go up in appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Looked dead plumb but Cummins reviews. Replays roll in and they show that Cummins is a gonner because Hot Spot detects no spike, so too did Snicko, and B
102.6 : 102.6: Washington Sundar to Mitchell Starc, SIX! There goes Starc. It was just a matter of time before Starc goes for the big shots. After blocking the 5 balls of the over, he decides that the time is now. Sundar tosses it up again. It is right in the hitting arc of Starc. The southpaw thumps it over long on for a biggie.
103.1 : 103.1: Shardul Thakur to Nathan Lyon, FOUR! Pulled away! Lyon won't mind taking the bowler on here. Shardul runs and bangs it short. Lyon swivels and nails the pull through backward square leg for a boundary.
103.2 : 103.2: Shardul Thakur to Nathan Lyon, FOUR! Consecutive boundaries. Lyon with a shot that most of the batters in the world will be proud of. A fuller ball around off and middle from Shardul. Lyon just meets it with a full blade and strokes it through mid on. He enjoyed that shot too.
104.1 : 104.1: Washington Sundar to Nathan Lyon, FOUR! Lyon moves to 15 in just 9 balls. Useful runs. A tossed up ball around off, Lyon sweeps and hits it nicely through short fine leg. A boundary. The man at 45 dived but could not keep it out.
105.4 : 105.4: Shardul Thakur to Nathan Lyon, FOUR! SHOT! Everything is coming off the middle of the willow of Lyon here. Fullish and outside off, Lyon drives it on the up. It goes to the right of the mid off fielder. It teases the fielder who gives it a chase and he ends up coming second in the race to the ropes.
108.2 : 108.2: Washington Sundar to Nathan Lyon, OUT! Knocks him over from round his legs. Top delivery from Sundar. He gets his 3rd wicket of the game and the entertainment from Lyon is over. A handy knock nonetheless from him. Sundar fires it full and on middle and leg, Lyon once again gets down and looks to sweep. This time it is quicker too and he misses. The ball disturbs the stumps. End of Lyon and end of a very good stand between him and Starc.
113.4 : 113.4: Mohammed Siraj to Josh Hazlewood, FOUR! Nicely played there. Shortish length ball, Josh Hazlewood stays leg side of the ball and hits it through the covers. Long chase for the fiedler there but the ball gets into the boundary before he can cut it off.
113.6 : 113.6: Mohammed Siraj to Josh Hazlewood, FOUR! Boundary to finish the over. Full and wide outside the off pole zone, Hazlewood moves to the on side and caresses it through the gap in the covers. Nobody moved an inch there.
115.2 : 115.2: T Natarajan to Josh Hazlewood, OUT! TIMBER! Natarajan finishes things off for the Indians. A lovely ball from Natarajan. Another fine bowling change from Rahane. A fuller ball around off, Hazlewood looks to drive but fails to make any connection. The ball goes behind to disturb the woodwork. Australia are bowled out for 369.
4.2 : 4.2: Mitchell Starc to Shubman Gill, FOUR! Beautiful. He is very strong on the back foot. Plays it with an angled bat. Shortish length delivery, outside the off stump area, Shubman transfers his weight on the back foot, gets on top of the bounce and punches it through the covers.
6.2: Pat Cummins to Shubman Gill, OUT! TAKEN! Australia draw first blood. It is that man again. Pat Cummins, the number one Test bowler in the world. Terrific from Cummins. Good length and just outside off, it pitches and then shapes away. Gill stays rooted in his crease and looks to poke at it. He does that with hard hands and ends up getting an outside edge. The ball goes to the right side of Steven Smith at second slip. Smudge there is safe as houses as he gobbles the chance easily.
8.3 : 8.3: Pat Cummins to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! Full and outside off, Rohit leans into the shot and looks to drive. It goes through point off the outer half of the bat.
13.2 : 13.2: Cameron Green to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! Short and wide and Rohit pounces on the scoring opportunity. Too short and too wide, Rohit slashes it through backward point for a boundary. There was shouts of catch but that went like a tracer bullet and nobody had a chance.
16.1 : 16.1: Pat Cummins to Rohit Sharma, EDGY FOUR! Length ball just outside off, Rohit comes on the front foot and looks to defend.  Does that with soft hands and it goes through the gap between gully and third slip.
16.4 : 16.4: Pat Cummins to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! SHOT! Cummins overpitches it and bowls it around off and middle, Rohit gently pushes it down the ground and it races away through mid on.
18.4: Cameron Green to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! BOOM! Rohit moves to 40. That is solid timing from Rohit. Classy batting from Hitman here. A fuller ball from Green. It is around off, Rohit once again just has a gentle push. It races through mid off. Labuschagne gives it a chase. Dives but this time he is not getting there. Top stroke. Shot of the day maybe.
19.3 : 19.3: Nathan Lyon to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! Wonderful shot. Sharma has looked wonderful today. Short and wide outside the off pole, cannot give him room. And he shows why. Rohit punches it through point for a boundary.
19.5 : 19.5: Nathan Lyon to Rohit Sharma, OUT! CAUGHT! Rohit Sharma departs. Commentator's curse works as Glenn McGrath (on air) was lavishing praise on Rohit previously. It is a good catch from Starcy. Lyon gets 397 wickets in Tests now. Full and around the off stump, Sharma skips down the track and looks to go big on the leg side. He though does not time it well and gets more of the elevation than distance. 'CATCH' is the shout. Mitchell, who was at long on, keeps his eyes on the ball, runs forward,
29.2 : 29.2: Mitchell Starc to Ajinkya Rahane, EDGED AND FOUR! There it is. Rahane is drawn forward again. A length ball outside off, Rahane comes on his front foot. He looks to drive but the ball takes the thick outside edge. It goes between the third slip fielder and gully. Green at gully dives to his left and tries to catch but the ball goes past him and into the fence. Nervy moment for Rahane.
31.1 : 31.1: Mitchell Starc to Ajinkya Rahane, EDGED AND FOUR AGAIN! Rahane gets lucky again. Another length ball around off, this one shapes away a touch as Rahane looks to drive. The outside edge is induced again. And it once again goes right between the third slip fielder and gully. This time it is closer to Wade but he has no chance to react as it goes rather quickly.
31.3 : 31.3: Mitchell Starc to Cheteshwar Pujara, FOUR! Was in complete control of this shot! He saw an opportunity and he took it! Short and wide outside off, offering width to Pujara, he backs away and punches this one through cover-point and the ball wins the race to the ropes.
33.3: Mitchell Starc to Cheteshwar Pujara, FOUR! SHOT! Width offered and Pujara quickly goes on his back foot. It was a shortish length ball too so Pujara did well to get on top of the bounce and then cut it through backward point for a boundary.
37.5 : 37.5: Nathan Lyon to Ajinkya Rahane, FOUR! Good attacking intent shown from Ajinkya! Short and around off, Rahane backs away and slams this one through cover-point to find the ropes.
38.5: Josh Hazlewood to Cheteshwar Pujara, OUT! CAUGHT! This time, Hazlewood gets the edge and this will be the end of Pujara. A good, healthy edge and a very comfortable catch for the skipper. He goes back after scoring 25 runs. Josh bowls this on a length around the off pole, straightens a touch after hitting the deck. Pujara is lured into the defensive push and gets his bat ahead. The ball kisses the outside edge and goes towards Paine who takes a good catch. Pujara was looking set with th
50.3 : 50.3: Pat Cummins to Mayank Agarwal, EDGED AND FOUR! Full and wide outside off, Agarwal is lured into playing the big-booming drive away from his body. 52.6 : 52.6: Mitchell Starc to Mayank Agarwal, FOUR! Agarwal ends the over well for the Indians! Goes for a back of a length delivery around middle and leg, Agarwal just tickles this one to the fine leg region and the ball reaches the advertising triangles before the fielder can reach and stop it. Just the boundary off this over.
54.6: Mitchell Starc to Ajinkya Rahane, OUT! TAKEN! Rahane falls! Starc gets the breakthrough. It is the huge wicket of the Indian skipper. Full and wide outside off, Rahane goes for the drive again. He has edged a couple of times before but both the times the ball went through the gap between third slip and gully. This time, the ball takes the outside edge and goes straight to Wade who is at the third slip position. The Aussies have worked out their plan as Wade is bit closer to the gully field
57.2 : 57.2: Nathan Lyon to Mayank Agarwal, SIX! That's a big, big six! That's how Agarwal likes to play, he likes to back himself. Floated around off, Agarwal skips down the track and powers this one over the long on fence for a biggie. 150 up for the Indians as well.
58.3 : 58.3: Mitchell Starc to Mayank Agarwal, FOUR! BEAUTYYYY! What a shot, this is! Mayank is looking really good out there in the middle. Starc goes fuller and slightly straigter around off and middle, Agarwal punches this one past the bowler, through mid on and the ball speeds away to the ropes.
60.2 : 60.2: Josh Hazlewood to Mayank Agarwal, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Hazlewood is the man again. Poor, poor shot from Agarwal in the first over post Lunch. That was way too wide and outside off, he could've easily let that go to the keeper. Instead, he goes for that big booming drive. Throws the bat at it but it takes the outside edge and goes very quickly to Steven Smith at second slip. Smith does well to get both hands to it but it pops out. However, Smith keeps his eyes on the ball and grabs it on th
62.1 : 62.1: Josh Hazlewood to Washington Sundar, FOUR! SHOT! First boundary in Test match cricket for Sundar. A superb shot through mid off. 65.1: Pat Cummins to Rishabh Pant, FOUR! Fine shot! Little wide and outside off, Pant rocks back and crunches it through backward point. Lyon, races across from his right and dives to attempt to stop the boundary but he is not able to and the ball touches the ropes. A good start to the over.
65.4 : 65.4: Pat Cummins to Rishabh Pant, FOUR! TAKE THAT! Stunning from Pant. Full ball around off, Pant creams it through mid off. The fielder from the ring gives it a chase but fails to stop it.
66.3 : 66.3: Josh Hazlewood to Rishabh Pant, OUT! CAUGHT! An unbelievable reaction catch from Green and Pant's charge has been brought to a halt. The ball was traveling quickly and Green does extremely well to hold onto this. On the shorter side outside off, Pant leans away and looks to cut this one through the point region. He plays it late and it goes towards Green at gully, who pulls off an amazing catch to send Pant back to the pavilion. His short but good stay out in the middle has unfortunately c

81.5 : 81.5: Josh Hazlewood to Shardul Thakur, EDGED AND FOUR! Thakur had no idea how to play at that but he will take it. A length ball around off, it comes back in sharply. Shardul looks to defend but he gets an inside edge. The ball goes over the stumps. Paine behind the sticks, dives to his left and tries to catch but the ball evades his dive and races to the fine leg fence. The stand moves to 49. Vital, vital runs for the Indians.

95.1 : 95.1: Nathan Lyon to Shardul Thakur, SIX! FIFTY FOR SHARDUL! Maiden Test half-century for Shardul. What a knock, what a sensational knock it has been from the man playing only the 2nd Test of his career. What a way to get to the milestone. Lyon tosses it up and Thalur jumps out of his crease and powers it way over long on for a biggie. 102.3 : 102.3: Pat Cummins to Shardul Thakur, OUT! BOWLED! Finally, finally, Australia get their breakthrough. They have been toiling hard so far and finally, Cummins comes along and disturbs the timber behind. It's not that they have not been trying to scalp the wicket, but it is just that these two were playing on another level so far. But, Cummins shows his class to break this stand.
