Meanwhile,
This partnership is actually a metaphor for how Delhi and Mumbai - when they have a common purpose - can actually do something worthwhile
— Sidvee (@sidvee) December 11, 2014
Rush of blood from Rahane. Hooks a short ball, fielder falls short of a lunging Nathan Lyon who gifts him a lifeline.
Harsha Bhogle's thoughts on the first test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy in Australia.
When you sign up with cricket, it is for days like this. Great weather, good surface, tough cricket. Can't ask for more.

Dropped catch! Vijay dropped on 3 runs in Mitchell Johnson's over as he flashes an angled bat at a fuller ball outside off and the outside edge flies towards second slip, but it was dropping. Mitch Marsh fielding at third slip dives low and to his left to try and make good on the chance. Only gets his fingertips.

Start of Indian innings
The home side declared after piling up some big runs and adding to the frustration of Indian bowlers. Australia declared at 517/7 in 120 overs.
Good Morning! After rain played spoilsport on Day 2 disrupting the play atleast four times, Day 3 began early to make up for lost time.
Welcome to the coverage of Day 3 of the 1st Test match between India and Australia, being played at Adelaide. Day 2 was severely truncated due to rain, which means the match will begin early today to make up for time lost on Wednesday. We will be covering the match live from 5 am.
The 2nd day may have been truncated but India's bowlers, who had seen a glimmer of hope at the end of Day 1 with some late wickets, failed to truncate Australia's innings on Day 2. In a surprise, Michael Clarke, who had retired hurt with a back injury, came out along with Steven Smith. In the end, both cracked centuries before Clarke fell for 128. Australia lost no other wickets even as just 30.2 overs could be bowled on the day. However, Australia amassed 163 runs in these 30.2 overs, showing that India's bowlers were once again way too profligate for a Test match.

India for their part will be looking to get Australia out quickly, that is if Australia do not decide to declare overnight or soon into Day 3. A long hard day of consolidation awaits India, and this won't be easy given the Australian pace attack of Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle.
