Rupee strengthened by 6 paise against US dollar in early trade

The Indian rupee strengthened by 6 paise to Rs44.75 against the US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today amid dollar weakness against the euro and other Asian currencies.

The US dollar slid to a fresh one-month low against a basket of major currencies in early Asia trade, finding no support after disappointing jobs data bolstered expectations that US interest rates will stay low for longer.

The rupee had incrased by one paise to close at a more-than 3-week high of Rs44.81/82 against the greenback in the previous session on alternate bouts of buying selling, stretching gains for the seventh straight trading session.
