0.0 : Hello and a warm welcome for the 2nd ODI between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan at the Harare Sports Club. The last time 'round, we saw the visitors clinch a victory in a rain-hit series opener. It was pretty unfortunate for the hosts as they were just ahead on DLS Method, but the wicket of Ryan Burl tipped the scales in their opposition's favour. Graeme Cremer and his men will look to tighten the screws and iron out the mistakes from the last game.
Afghanistan on the other hand, will look to get another win under their belt. They have the momentum on their side and will want to carry it forward. Their skipper is in good form as he led from the front in the first match with a fluent half century. We hope we're in for a good encounter.
Some bit of bad news however, is that the conditions are overcast in Harare. No sign of rain as of now, but showers are forecast as the day progresses. Zimbabwe especially, won't want another one influenced by the showers. Nothing is confirmed yet, but rumours are circling around Sikandar Raza injured himself during practice yesterday. Not sure about his fitness yet, so it remains to be seen whether he will participate today. The home side will have its fingers crossed.
Toss - Afghanistan win the toss and elect to bat first! So it is confirmed, Sikandar Raza is injured and so, Hamilton Masakadza makes his way into the side for him. Just the one change for them. Afghanistan remain unchanged.
The players and the umpires have made their way out in the middle. Mohammad Shahzad and Noor Ali Zadran will open the innings for the away side. Tendai Chatara will take the new ball first up for Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, due to lack of television feed, there won't be ball-by-ball commentary for this match but we shall keep you posted with updates.

After 5 overs, Afghanistan are 15/0. They've started steadily and are being as cautious as they can in hitting their shots. Although, Noor Ali Zadran was given an early reprieve as Tendai Chatara dropped him off his own bowling. The Zimbabwe bowlers, despite that, have done well to use the green pitch and restrict the Afghanistan openers from finding the boundary much.

After 10 overs, Afghanistan have lost a wicket and now stand at 34/1. Richard Ngarava struck on the last ball of the first Powerplay with the short ball. Banged it in hard and got Noor Ali Zadran to glove it behind to Peter Moor. Zimbabwe have used the overcast conditions well and bowled smartly. They've kept the pressure on with some good line and managed to scalp a wicket to break the opening stand.

After 15 overs, Afghanistan have added 21 runs as they are 55/1 at this stage. The hosts are keeping the pressure on. Excellent lines and good lengths from the bowlers are making the opposition batsmen really work for every run. After losing the early wicket, Mohammad Shahzad and Rahmat Shah have the difficult task of keeping a hold of things and make the scoreboard tick at the same time.

After 20 overs, Afghanistan have not lost another wicket and are 84/1. The current pair of Mohammad Shahzad and Rahmat Shah have slowly grown into the game after steadying things a bit. The Zimbabweans may have slightly lost some concentration which has led to their lines wavering a bit. Big moment in the match on the final ball of the 17th over, the dangerous Shahzad was dropped out in the deep by Musakanda as the batsman tried to clear the cover boundary. Remains to be seen how costly that cou

Halfway through the first innings and after 25 overs, Afghanistan move along to 107/1. The runs are cautiously coming as both batsmen are finding the odd boundary here and there. Mohammad Shahzad has notched up a gritty fifty, he's had to curb his natural game and has done well to adjust to the conditions so far. The Zimbabwe bowlers are maintaining a tight line and not leaking many runs, but they need to break this partnership, which is building nicely right now.

After 30 overs, Afghanistan are moving slowly but have lost a vital wicket, are 128/2 now. Success for the hosts as the Zimbabwean skipper Graeme Cremer scalped the all-important wicket of Mohammad Shahzad, completely against the run of play, by bowling him out 'round his legs. Breaking the partnership of 84 runs, he has given his team a much-needed breakthrough and a chance to make further inroads. The visiting team needs to be careful here, a quick wicket or two at this point could see them in

After 35 overs, Afghanistan are struggling at 149/4. Zimbabwe are right on top of this game now as Graeme Cremer struck once again. He took out out his counterpart by getting him caught at long off by Musakanda. Huge blow in itself which was followed by another quick wicket. Tendai Chatara caught Rahmat Shah leg before and the Afghanistan no.3 batsman departed after scoring a half century. The home side is in control of things right now and the Afghans are in a real spot of bother now. Need some

After 5 overs, in contrast to Afghanistan, Zimbabwe have got off to a great start and motored to 30/0. And it's Solomon Mire who has taken charge of things. He's scored 25 of those 30 runs and is looking in good touch. Afghanistan need to vary things here and try a different plan, or else they're going to concede a lot of runs in this Powerplay from the looks of things.

After 10 overs, Zimbabwe have powered to 53/0 at the end of the first Powerplay. Solomon Mire is continuing with in onslaught and sending the ball to all parts of the Harare Sports Club. He's moved on to 43 off just 40 deliveries. Afghanistan don't know how to deal with him at the moment but Asghar Stanikzai is going to have to come up with something fast, otherwise this is not going to end well for him and his side.

After 20 overs, Zimbabwe have added 17 runs and lost 2 wickets as the scoreboard shows they are 88/3. Peter Moor and Hamilton Masakadza have walked back to the pavilion as Gulbadin Naib and Rashid Khan respectively have sent the two of them back. The visitors have crawled back into this game after the initial assault from Solomon Mire and have done well to get themselves into a good position now. An interesting phase of play awaits both teams.

After 25 overs, adding 18 runs, Zimbabwe are 106/3. They've crossed the 100-run mark now with Craig Ervine and Ryan Burl looking solid. The rain however has picked up and the groundsmen are ready on the sidelines with the covers if it increases any more. Afghanistan are rushing through with the overs, trying to get the better of the DLS Method in case it rains. Play will continue... For the moment, at least.

Craig Ervine and Ryan Burl have knocked the ball around and kept the scoreboard ticking. Adding 24 runs to their total, the hosts are comfortably going about their business. Been a rather tame period of play from the Afghans.

Naib and Nabi the ones respectively to scalp their wickets. And then, after the two set batsmen were out of here, Amir Hamza got rid of Malcolm Waller, wasting no time. So, that's it! A rather sad end to Zimbabwe's run chase, especially after the way they kicked things off. With 239 runs to chase, Solomon Mire got the hosts off to a blazing start. At a fast pace, he reached his fifty and then was quickly dismissed, but not before he set a good platform for his team. Then Craig Ervine and Ryan Burl took the reins, were playing sensibly, but the former just got out cheaply and from that point on, it was all downhill for them. Nobody managed to stick around as the
Barring the initial assault laid on them by Solomon Mire, Afghanistan were right on the money with the ball. Almost all of their bowlers contributed with the wickets. Bowled tight lines, kept at it and eventually got the desired results. It was a collective, all-round performance which will please Asghar Stanikzai greatly. Earlier in the day, a couple of fifties from Shahzad and Shah, along with some solid hitting in the middle order from Nabi and Najibullah, saw Afghanistan post a total which p
Rashid Khan has been named the Man of the Match for his wonderful bowling performance. He finished with figures of 7.1-0-25-3.
Right, then! We are done with the formalities from this match. Afghanistan lead the 5-match series 2-0 and will play the next match to seal it right then and there. Zimbabwe must win anyhow to stay alive in the series. The 3rd match takes place on 21st February at 0930 local time (0730 GMT). Till then, take care!
