0.0 : Hello and welcome to Birmingham for match no 7 of the 2017 Champions Trophy. South Africa will be playing Pakistan for their second game of the group stage. The Proteas cruised to victory in their first game against Sri Lanka, Amla and Tahir showed great form with the former scoring a ton and latter bagged four wickets in the first game. A win today for them will ensure qualification for the knockout stages.
Pakistan were thumped by India in their opening fixture and will be hoping for a better show today. It is a must-win game for them. They had a forgetful time with both bat and ball. Sarfraz Ahmed will know that if they don't raise their game it could be curtains for many of them. Stay tuned for the toss and further updates.
PITCH REPORT- Shaun Pollock reckons that the wicket is a touch dry and on the slower side. Expects the spinners to do well since there is no moisture on the wicket. He opines that the team winning the toss should bat first.
TOSS - South Africa win the toss and opt to bat.
South Africa skipper, AB de Villiers informs that they are going have a bat. Adds that they batted well in the last game. Thinks the wicket has worn a little. He opines it won't turn a lot and would remain the same. He further adds that they were good in 80 percent of the game against Sri Lanka and if they could take that up to a 100 percent then they would be a real good team. He informs they are playing an unchanged team.
Pakistan skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed says that they wanted to bat first but they can't change the toss. Informs about the two team changes, Junaid Khan and Fakhar Zaman coming in for Wahab Riaz and Ahmed Shehzad. Adds that they had a meeting yesterday and the morale of the team is very high. Hopes that they do well today.
The players are out in the middle for their respective national anthems.
