0.0 : Hello and welcome to our coverage of the final Test of the series in Hamilton. The Proteas will want to seal the series with win while the home side will want to draw level. It won't be easy for the hosts with a spate of injuries to their key players leaving them short of firepower, particularly in the bowling. South Africa have no real worries at the moment and should be unchanged. There was rain in the morning which delayed the toss but the weather has improved with the flip of the coin not fa
TOSS - SOUTH AFRICA WIN THE TOSS AND OPT TO BAT.
SOUTH AFRICAN SKIPPER, FAF DU PLESSIS says that they will bat. Adds that it is a tricky decision with some green in the surface but feels that it should be okay and turn later on. Feels that the pitch may dry up as the game progresses unless it rains. Maintains that they cannot predict the weather. Opines that South Africa have a good balanced attack with the spinners being the surprise package. Reveals that there is a single change - DE BRUYN comes in for Cook.
NEW ZEALAND SKIPPER, KANE WILLIAMSON is disappointed to lose another toss but is happy with the overhead conditions and is hoping to scalp some early wickets. Adds it will be a good wicket throughout. Further says Southee, Boult and Taylor are big players but at the same time opines that the guys sitting out are also raring to go. Ends by saying they are looking what is in front of them and are trying to be positive.
It's time to get underway. The players and umpires have made their way out to the middle. DEAN ELGAR and THEUNIS DE BRUYN will open the batting for SA. New Zealand begin with MATT HENRY. Three slips and a gully in place. Here we go...

17.2 : M Henry to Amla, Good stop! Overpitched delivery outside off, Amla with no foot movement tries to drive it on the up. It goes uppishly towards Broom who dives full length to his right and half stops it. Could have been a certain boundary there but this time he will get just a single.
17.3 : M Henry to Duminy, Fuller in length and around off, driven straight to short extra cover.
New Zealand have opted for an LBW appeal against Duminy. Is it pitching outside leg?
17.4 : M Henry to Duminy, NOT OUT! It's pitched outside leg! Henry hurls in a length delivery around leg and it pings Duminy on the front pad as he tries to flick it. Loud appeal from the Kiwis but umpire Rod Tucker stays unmoved. Henry then convinces Williamson to go for the review and replays show it is pitched outside leg and no need to go ahead. New Zealand waste a review and would be ruing the fact that they didn't opt for one when Wagner trapped JPD off his very first ball.

17.6 : M Henry to Duminy, Defended off the back foot by the batsman.

19.2 : M Henry to Duminy, Strays on the hips, Duminy just clips it behind square on the leg side for a single.

20.2 : N Wagner to Amla, FOUR! What a shot! That's Amla at his very best! Sees the width given by Wagner and Hashim cashes in. He just nails the back foot punch through covers. Pierces the gap to perfection and fetches himself another boundary.

21.4 : M Henry to Duminy, Back of a length delivery outside off, dabbed towards backward point for nothing.
21.5 : M Henry to Duminy, Keeps it full outside off, Duminy leans into it and drives it towards covers.
21.6 : M Henry to Duminy, Fuller length ball outside off, Duminy looks to drive but gets an inside edge towards short mid-wicket.
Time for spin now as JEETAN PATEL is brought into the attack...
It's gone very dark out there and the groundsmen are getting ready near the sidelines as a precaution.
22.1 : J Patel to Amla, FOUR! Beats the fielder! A loose start from Patel. He serves a loopy delivery around middle and leg, Amla just whips it through mid-wicket. The fielder there puts in a dive but the ball goes through him. Such strong wrists of Amla!

23.2 : M Henry to H Amla, Wide! Bangs in a short ball, angling in, Amla ducks under it. It's too high and the umpire calls it a wide.
M Henry to Amla, Around the hips, it's glanced down to long leg for a single by Hashim.
23.3 : M Henry to Duminy, Good length delivery on off, Duminy pushes it away on the off side.
23.4 : M Henry to Duminy, OUT! Top edge and gone! That's a good take in the deep as well! Henry bangs in a short ball on middle and off, it keeps climbing off the deck and Duminy goes after it. He swivels a touch early and ends up getting a top edge towards fine leg where Jeetan Patel moves a couple of steps to his left and takes it pretty casually. Jean-Paul Duminy has thrown it away after getting a start.
FAF DU PLESSIS is the new man in.
23.5 : M Henry to Plessis, Full outside off, Faf shoulders his arms to that one.
23.6 : M Henry to Plessis, Once again in that probing zone outside off, du Plessis offers no stroke.
COLIN DE GRANDHOMME is back.
24.1 : de Grandhomme to Amla, Faf du Plessis would have gone for all money here! There was never a run there! Kane Williamson has his hands on his head. Fuller length ball outside off, Amla slices it towards backward point and calls for a single. Faf du Plessis accepts it and starts running at the danger end as he opposite number is quick to gather the ball and fires it at the striker's end but misses. He had only one stump to aim and the Kiwi skipper misses. The Protea skipper is lucky here and
24.2 : de Grandhomme to Plessis, Fullish length delivery, driven towards cover.

25.2 : M Henry to Plessis, In the air... just short! The Protea skipper is living dangerously here! Oohhsss and Aahhhs around the ground.
25.3 : M Henry to Plessis, Hops back and defends it towards the on side.
25.4 : M Henry to Plessis, Back of a length ball on middle, defended down by Faf.

It has started to drizzle and the umpires have decided to take an EARLY LUNCH here on day one. Smart decision! The groundsmen are coming on with the covers. Let's hope it is a passing shower.
New Zealand's session after losing the toss. Henry and de Grandhomme removed the openers cheaply to give the hosts a dream start with the new ball. Amla and Duminy did repair the damage a touch before the latter fell to a short ball one more time in his career. Amla has looked fluent and has timed the ball really well but almost ran out his skipper who was then on nought. NZ also missed a review of Duminy but that didn't hurt them too much. The surface had aided the seamers a bit although nothin
.....DAY 1, SESSION 2.....
The rain had stopped and the covers were taken off just a while back. However, the umpires will be having a look at the outfield which seems a bit damp. It is still overcast. So, another delayed start likely although not by much. PLAY WILL START AT 1415 LOCAL.
We are ready to get underway as the players and umpires make their way out to the middle. SA need a partnership to stabilize the innings. Can NZ sustain the pressure? COLIN DE GRANDHOMME to complete his over.

28.3 : N Wagner to Plessis, Fuller ball outside off, Faf leans into it and creams the drive towards mid off.
28.4 : N Wagner to du Plessis, FOUR! THAT WAS RISKY! Fuller ball outside off, Faf cannot keep the drive down and it goes off the outer half of the blade. The point fielder dives to his right but the ball flies past him to the fence.
NZ have taken a review for lbw against du Plessis. They feel it is pad first.
28.5 : N Wagner to Plessis, NOT OUT! Shocker of a review from New Zealand. They didn't take a very obvious one against Duminy and then as if to compensate, took two reviews which are bad. This one especially is awful. Good length around off, nips in a touch as Faf blocks off the inner half to the leg side. Appeal for lbw from the Kiwis as they feel it is pad first. The umpire denies it and Williamson decides to gamble with the review. Replays show that it came straight off the bat with no pad inv

30.5 : N Wagner to Plessis, That's jumped off the deck! Good length around off, a bit of shape away and extra bounce as Faf is struck high on the bat. He takes the bottom hand off once again as a reflex action.
30.6 : N Wagner to Plessis, BIG APPEAL! Faf has probably got lucky here. Fuller ball around off, shaping away and Faf is lured into a tame push at it as Watling collects it behind the sticks. Loud appeal for caught behind but turned down. NZ cannot review it as they don't have any left in the tank. Snicko detects a very tiny aberration. WOULD HAVE BEEN EVIDENCE ENOUGH FOR THE THIRD UMPIRE. NZ only have themselves to blame.

33.5 : Grandhomme to H Amla, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! A peach from de Grandhomme and Amla has to walk back to the hut. The dream outswinger around middle, Amla looks to work it across the line but the ball shapes away late to disturb the middle stump. 34.2 : N Wagner to Plessis, Length ball just outside off, good ball and it's a good leave as well from the SA captain.
34.3 : N Wagner to du Plessis, FOUR! That one gets through! Du Plessis does well to play with soft hands and an angled bat to a length ball that shapes away a bit. The ball flies off the edge and sneaks between the slips and gully to the third man fence. He was fairly in control there and not pushing hard at it helped.
34.4 : N Wagner to Plessis, Back of a length outside off, Faf lifts his bat to make the leave.
34.5 : N Wagner to Plessis, FOUR! JUST OVER WATLING! Du Plessis is living a charmed life at the moment. Short ball and he looks to pull but is hurried by the bumper. Gets a faint top edge that goes over a leaping Watling to the fence for a boundary.

Drinks break...
UPDATE 1520 LOCAL - Seems like that the drizzle has picked up and the covers are being brought in. It could be that sort of a day with the weather playing hide-and-seek.
UPDATE 1530 LOCAL - The covers were about to be taken off but as the rain had seemingly eased but it's not picked up again and looks a bit heavy too.
UPDATE 1600 LOCAL - With the rain getting heavier, the umpires have now taken EARLY TEA. Also, the weather looks highly bleak for the rest of the day. Still let's keep our fingers crossed...
UPDATE 1635 LOCAL - The drizzle is still around and the outfield is quite damp. The umpires did have a look at the ground. Looks quite bleak at the moment.
UPDATE 1730 LOCAL - The rain has stopped but not before doing damage to the outfield. The groundsmen did try to tidy up with the super soppers but there are still some damp patches near the pitch which are displeasing the umpires.
UPDATE 1750 LOCAL - So, the inevitable has taken place. As mentioned in the previous update, the patch near the pitch is the issue and the umpires aren't happy with it and hence they have decided TO CALL IT A DAY!
A good day for NZ despite losing the toss. Their pacers led by Henry made optimum use of the overhead conditions to nip out the SA top order. Amla's fifty was the bright spot for the Proteas but he couldn't kick on. A lot will depend on du Plessis who has got a start. However, radar for the remaining days isn't pleasing and we can only hope for it to stay away. There will be an early start tomorrow for the time and overs lost today at 1025 local time. Join us for all the action. Until then, it's
.....DAY 2, SESSION 1.....
Hello and welcome to our coverage of the second day's play. Rain played spoilsport yesterday which meant that only 41 overs were bowled. A shared session although South Africa will be the happier side. The star of the morning was de Kock with a blistering unbeaten fifty. Just like in the previous game, his knock seized the momentum from the opposition. South Africa started the day with du Plessis and Bavuma showing great intent. Henry removed the latter and then the SA skipper fell to a blinder from Latham. The Kiwis were sensing a chance to wrap it up quickly but de Kock had other ideas. Henry was the standout once again for the

86.5 : M Henry to Rabada, SIX! That's gone all the way! This kid does have some power, doesn't he? Short ball and Rabada is not at all in control as he goes for the pull. Gets a top edge that sails over deep backward square leg for a maximum. It bisected fine leg and deep square leg to perfection, albeit unintentionally.
86.6 : M Henry to Rabada, FOUR! Just over the keeper! More fortune for Rabada. Another short ball and he is once again beaten for pace on the bumper. Gets a top edge that flies over a leaping Watling to the fence. Handy runs these for SA.

Well-directed bouncer around off, Rabada hasn't backed away from the pull stroke throughout this innings and decides to have another go at a bumper. Gets a top edge that flies high up in the air and Watling does well to cover some yards backwards to his left to take the skier. Wagner finishes with three scalps as SA ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 314.
South Africa will be more than happy with the total that they have racked up on the board. It was all about Quinton de Kock today who came to rescue when his team was in tatters. After losing Faf and Bavuma, the South African keeper kept his cool initially and then up the ante in a stunning manner only to miss out on a ton by mere 10 runs. Some handy contribution from Rabada saw the tourists crossing the 300-run mark which seems to be a very good one.
Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers for NZ as he picked up a 4-fer. Wagner was unlucky but came back well this morning to snare three to his name. Now, the hosts need to bat really well but it won't be easy against a fiery Protean pace-attack who have the overhead conditions to aid them. Stay tuned for the Kiwi reply...
