0.0 : It's that time of the year again, people! The Indian T20 League is back to beat the Indian summer. The season opener will kickoff at one of the most historic venue - The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The defending champs will be up against the men from Chennai who are making a comeback after a 2-year hiatus. MS Dhoni will be back in that yellow jersey but more importantly he'll be leading the side this season, something the fans are anxiously waiting for.
Talking about the teams now. Both these sides are packed with heavy players with too much of experience. Both of them have provided sheer entertainment in the past and we have witnessed some nail-biting thrillers when these two lock horns. The last time these two faced each other was in the 2015 final where the men from Mumbai were crowned champions. Let's hope that they fight neck and neck tonight and get things rolling with a bang. Stay tuned as the all-important toss is coming up in a bit.
Pitch Report - Sunil Gavaskar says there is an even grass covering which will help the seamers move the ball around by pitching it up. He also adds that the ball will come onto the bat nicely and the batters should have a good time. Ends by saying there are loads of runs on offer and he expects a run-feast at the Wankhede tonight.
TOSS - Huge roar from the crowd as both the skippers - Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni walk out for the toss. Up goes the coin and it comes down in the favor of the visitors. Chennai will bowl!
MS Dhoni, Chennai captain says there is a bit of dew which will come into the picture in the second half and hence the decision. Reckons he's happy to be back in the yellow jersey and has his emotions under control. States the preparations have been good and hopes for a good show. Wood, Tahir, Watson and Bravo are the four overseas players for them, he informs.
Rohit Sharma, Mumbai captain says even they wanted to bowl first but isn't disappointed to have a go with the bat. Adds they have played before and have a hang of the conditions on how to bowl in the second half. Reckons it's a fresh wicket and there should be plenty of runs on offer. States it's a fresh tournament for both the sides and whatever they have done in the past won't count as they will have to start afresh. Informs they have got 4 bowlers, 2 genuine all-arounders in the Pandya brothe

It's a packed house here at the Wankhede and the crowd is on top of its voice greeting the players as they make their way out to the middle. 12.3 : S Watson to S Yadav, OUT! Watson strikes and provides the much-needed breakthrough for his side. He is all pumped up. Chennai needed this wicket as these two were going great guns. Watto drops it short on middle, it keeps climbing on Yadav who doesn't want to hold back. Takes on the challenge of pulling it and that brings his downfall. Hits it straight down the throat of Harbhajan Singh at deep square leg who takes it easily. Oh boy, he is pumped up as well. Tosses the ball and kicks it aw

14.4 : I Tahir to I Kishan, OUT! Top edge and gone! Imran Tahir picks up a wicket after taken for aplenty in his first over. Bowls a googly, it keeps going away from the southpaw. Kishan gets down on one knee and tries to swing it across the line. A big fat top edge is taken which goes high in the air towards short third man where Mark Wood takes a dolly of a catch. In the first over that Tahir bowled, he wasn't able to bowl the googly with the correct length as he ended up bowling too full. This
Krunal Pandya walks out to bat next.

18.5 : M Wood to K Pandya, Top edge but it lands safely. Walks across to a length delivery and looks to pull. Gets a top edge but much to his delight it lands in the safe zone at mid-wicket. A couple added to the total.
18.6 : M Wood to K Pandya, SIX! Ends the over with a biggie. Mark Wood has gone for 49 in his first ever game. Shortish again, Krunal anticipates it as he walks across, lifts one leg up and dumps it over fine leg for a maximum.
19.1 : D Bravo to H Pandya, Fuller and fired on middle and leg, Hardik looks to hit it across the line but misses to get hit on the pads. The ball rolls towards fine leg and they cross for a leg bye.
19.2 : D Bravo to K Pandya, Shortish and angling away on off, Krunal looks to ramp it down to third man but this one loops over his head. Superb from Bravo again.
19.3 : D Bravo to K Pandya, Fuller on the stumps, knocked down to long on for a single.
19.4 : D Bravo to H Pandya, A perfect yorker, dished out at the base of the stumps. Hardik fails to jam it out and is down on the floor. High class death bowling.
19.5 : D Bravo to H Pandya, Walks miles across his off stump, Bravo follows him. Bowls a slower length delivery which Hardik mistimes down to long on. They take a couple.
19.6 : D Bravo to H Pandya, Just 5 from the over, simply outstanding from DJ Bravo. What has happened to Hardik Pandya? He seems to be struggling as he is down in agony at the non-striker's end. This isn't good for his side. He is carried off the field. Ball - Fuller ball on the stumps, dragged off the inner half through mid-wicket. He looks for the second one but almost dashes into Bravo at the other end. The innings end with a single and Mumbai finish with 165/4!
A good recovery from Mumbai after an early stutter. They lost both their openers inside the Powerplay as Watson and Chahar hit the right chords at the start. It was Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan who brought things back on track. The duo just unleashed and swatted the bowlers all-around the park as they stitched a 78-run stand to leave the visitors thinking.
MS Dhoni then took a bold move to bring Watson back and that provided them the breakthrough in the name of Yadav. Tahir then removed the other set batsman Kishan in quick succession to gain the upper hand. However, the Pandya brothers didn't let that hamper the momentum as they kept scoring freely. It was Krunal Pandya who stole the show with his 41 off 22 balls.
Chennai wouldn't be too disappointed with how the way they pulled things back. The death specialist Dwayne Bravo was on song and made the run-scoring a difficult task. He was taken for 14 in his opening over but came back well to give away just 11 in the next three overs. Rest all were good but Mark Wood had a night to forget. Right then, there is something in the pitch for the bowlers and it would be interesting to see if the hosts' bowlers can do what their counterparts did in the first inning
